...uh, are you sure you posted in the right thread?

EDIT: Oh wait, you're referring to Xinjiang! Sorry, my brain didn't make the connection, and I was wondering what Daesh had to do with Hong Kong. Personally I figure the radicals are more likely to form up as regional insurgencies a la ETA in Basque Country rather than run off to join Daesh or AQ, but not enough news comes out of Xinjiang to do more than guess at the resistance/insurgency movements.

I heard that it belonged to a prominent Triad gang member: very likely to have been paid by the CCP or someone associated thereof.

Also, Anonymous has joined:

Unfortunately they've been hitting the wrong sites... (Dude, not very *.hk sites are HK government sites...)

Edit: Well, actually looks like they got a list... and it looks legit.

Heard some of my Philippine countrymen are joining in since they are PRs. As usual, they don't say their real names for fears of being "picked up".

AFAIK, the MSS has a satellite office dedicated for the SARs.

Re: Russia claiming Western involvement

I imagine that is for domestic rather than international consumption. If the Russian government can make Russians naturally suspicious of spontaneous street action, then they will be less likely to support any kind of Russian equivalent. It also helps them with their general "Russia is under siege" agitprop. It makes the forces (real or imagined) that are ranged against Russia seem more capable and pervasive than they actually are, which in turn makes the ordinary Russian more scared of "foreign" ideas and more grateful for the strong arm of the state, which he believes is "protecting" him from the wolves at the door.

CY Leung's daughter does not help things. Site appears to be a tabloid, so information should be treated with caution until otherwise confirmed.

With that caveat in mind...

CY Leung's daughter: Hong Kong taxpayers fund 'my beautiful shoes and dresses'

Hong Kong Chief Executive CY Leung's daughter Chai Yan Leung made some very questionable comments on Facebook earlier today.

''Seemingly responding to negative comments about a necklace she wears in her profile picture, she wrote: This is actually a beautiful necklace bought at Lane Crawford (yes- funded by all you HK taxpayers!! So are all my beautiful shoes and dresses and clutches!! Thank you so much!!!!) Actually maybe I shouldn't say 'all you'- since most of you here are probably unemployed hence have all this time obsessed with bombarding me with messages.''

I heard about it from my sister.

Apparent this daughter (there's also a sister) has a track record of trolling the Hong Kong populace.

Not without raising a huge furore. Right now MSS would presumably want to support CY Leung's tenure in power, so arresting his daughter would not be on the books. I'd say someone might want to sit her down and lecture her about her behaviour, but we all know that wouldn't work anyway.

Well, if her father cannot rein her in, who can?

In another news, CY Leung refuses to resign, but offers talks to protesters.

Well, let's see how this goes. I trust CY Leung only as far as I can throw him though. I have suspicions that he is part of the reason why the People's Congress offered such a crappy offer for Hong Kong democracy.

You do know that suggestion that the MSS pick her up was a joke right? But can't they at least turn off her internet,I mean they do that for half the countryevil grin

Well, it doesn't work that way in Hong Kong. The last time an internet censorship was remotely suggested (it was when a series of nude photos of several Hong Kong celebrities were leaked into the internet by someone who was fixing another celebrity's computer. The police suggested pressing charges towards all those who possess those photos) there was an uproar.

@Ira- Anon is always a bit of a crapshot. given it's mostly bored /b/tards, you;ve usually got a 50/50 chance of them hitting the "right" target, and rarely do they do anything overly useful, but it puts some pressure on at least.

Project Chanology was their high point for sure, mainly because "fuck with scientology" is a pretty simple target.

Lots of solidarity protests are taking place worldwide. Here in Manila, the Akbayan party (seemingly left in agenda) has protested at Chinese diplomatic buildings.

Analysts agree that the CEO is adopting a wait approach, using the discontent from parts of the public that everyday life is being disrupted.

Pro-Beijing mobs show up and surround the protesters, and some who are trying to leave gets beaten. The police is not even trying to stop their violent acts. Fucking commies. Since it's not the police/PLA who's committing atrocities, foreign governments can't really do much. I guess conscious consumers can still boycott Chinese goods and services to show moral support even though the impact won't be significant.

Live: Conflict between protesters and anti-protesters. Rumors of sexual harassment against female protesters. Occupy Central and Student Federation are calling for protesters to leave Mong Kok and join the protest in Admiralty.

Some official statements from the Hong Kong Police Force:

On rumors that the PTU used rubber bullets:

Regarding rumours that Police have used plastic bullet and will impose midnight curfew, a Police spokesman today (September 29) clarified again that the rumours were totally untrue.

On claims that PTU used excessive force:

In response to media reports on the use of excessive force by Police in the operation at Tim Mei Avenue in Central, a Police spokesman said today (September 27) that the protesters ignored repeated Police advice and warnings during the operation and charged Police cordon vigorously, obstructing Police officers in executing their duties. Police had no other options and had to use appropriate and necessary force, including the use of OC Foam, to make the protestors leave the venue. Police have established guidelines on the use of force. The use of force is that only the minimum force necessary to achieve the purpose may be used. When using force, Police officers will display self-discipline and exercise a high degree of restraint.

Appeals for protest groups to cooperate with the HKPF:

As the chaotic situation arising from the protest currently (October 3) taking place in Mong Kok persists, Police appeal to members of the public to stay clam and exercise restraint. They are urged to comply with the instructions of the Police officers at scene and express their views in a peaceful and rational manner.

Police will take appropriate actions, including escorting protesters away from the scene, to safeguard their personal safety and restore the public order and traffic conditions at scene.

Condemning protestors for blocking Lung Wo Road:

Protestors currently gathering outside the Chief Executive’s Office (CEO) blocked the carriageways of Lung Wo Road and in the vicinity; seriously affecting both east and west bound traffic of Hong Kong Island and paralylsing the traffic in the vicinity of Lung Wo Raod. The blockade affected the emergency service and the daily life of the members of the public which was irresponsible and unlawful.

The protestors also refused to let Police vehicles enter CEO to deliver food, water and medical supplies to Police officers on duty. This was unhumanitarian which was unacceptable to any places in the world.

Besides, the frontline Police officers need to rotate shifts regularly to continue the execution of their duties. However, the protestors blocked the movement of vehicles, impeding the smooth handover of the frontline officers which was also unacceptable.

Police have shown the greatest tolerance to the protestors gathering on Lung Wo Road. However, Police strongly condemned the blockade and obstruction caused by the protestors.

Police appeal to the protestors to cooperate with the Police officers. They should stop their irresponsible and unlawful behaviour and leave orderly and peacefully as soon as possible.

Warning against charging at police cordons:

Protestors currently (October 2) gathering outside the Office of the Chief Executive (CEO) have already surrounded CEO and the Central Government Complex (CGC) and completely blocked Lung Wo Road, seriously paralysing the traffic there and in the vicinity. Police warn the protestors not to charge against CEO, CGC and the Police cordon lines there.

Police emphasise that that is unlawful behaviour. If they refuse to comply with Police advice and warnings, Police will take resolute enforcement actions.

It seems that the Chinese are tired of waiting for the HKers to turn violent, so they've brought in the rent-a-mob. I suspect that the PAP may move in under the guise of "restoring order". Some nice outside the box thinking.

To be fair, I don't know why they bothered. People are starting to grumble about the blockades anyway.

There's no need to make this so obvious.
