Judging by that description, sounds like a spiritual successor to Manhunt.
It's got a pretty visceral, Manhunt vibe to it. It was pretty much the most metal trailer across the entire E3 conference (still not sure what the song is). Having death on the logo riding a skateboard is a pretty good sign of how lightly the game is treating death.

I'm just unsure of whether it'll be hit or miss.
Wouldn't be a Suda 51 game without that type of thinking.
Long live Cinematech. FC:0259-0435-4987I like Suda 51 but I got to see gameplay first before I can get interested in it.
Batman Ninja more like Batman's Bizarre AdventureMy previous post still stands for that kind of thinking.
Long live Cinematech. FC:0259-0435-4987The sheer volume of Salt on Siliconera about Tae Ioroi not being in the game is amusing (Though I will probably miss her, too).

Watch SymphogearThey're calling LID a generic abomination, for whatever reason. From a minute and a half trailer...
Anyway, here's a Siliconera interview:

Turns out it's a free-to-play game.

Color me skeptical.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.Link also contains the first teaser for Grasshopper's next project.
Long live Cinematech. FC:0259-0435-4987So, um, hey, is it weird that I may have come up with a Work page for Lily Bergamo even though the game's pretty much nonexistent?
Actually, looking back at it kinda makes me hope Suda does something with the world he had when Let It Die was still Lily Bergamo, like have it set for a different project or otherwise, at least do something with Tae Ioroi in the future.

I wish. I don't exactly have a PS 4, so I can't say.
However, someone did post the game's first hour of gameplay, so see for yourself:
I've only seen the launch trailer but it's about Suda 51 as it gets without going full-on anime.
The title of the game makes me want to make a song parody of Let It Go.
Let it die... Let it dieeee... Can't hold it anymore.... Let it die... Let it dieeee...
Been playing for a while.
Its definitely a very hard rougelike, though luckily, the mastery of stats carries over to a new fighter if you don't have the death metals to ressurrect your current one.
Watch SymphogearSo, it's free to play, eh? Guess I'll start downloading it tonight, try it out on my PS 4 tomorrow.
From what I'm hearing though, the items you can spend real-world currency on are problematic; namely, that you can instantly resurrect your character with real world cash and speed up the development of things.
But hey, Suda 51's stuff has always been great otherwise, so I'm willing to forgive those faults. Can't imagine him wanting it that way anyhow, it was probably an executive management decision above his level.
Well this is annoying. I can't seem to progress onto the 4th floor, no matter what I do. And from what I'm reading online the issue I'm encountering is usually due to the game not completely installing... which can't be, because I waited for it to finish before playing.
I'll try again tomorrow, but right now I'm kinda bummed out about progressing further...
*4:
Looks like all the game needed was just for me to reset the console - it's playing fine and allowing me to pass unto the 4th floor and beyond.
Let It Die is shaping up to be a slightly less smooth handling Dark Souls mixed with permadeath, rouge-like dungeons and loot, and one bizarre setting partly inspired by grind-house, heavy metal and Japanese culture mixed with some oddball American stuff too. Since Suda 51 was involved, and his stories make even LESS sense than anything Hideo Kojima could cook up, you'd better be ready to constantly go "what the eff did I just witness???" throughout. At least it's not an irritating sort of confusion however - you're clearly meant to puzzle out certain elements of the plot, and there are clues in the collectible brochures and comics lying about in the levels.
Because of how easy it is to lose fighters, you quickly realize that grinding the first few starting areas is absolutely necessary. This is both for the sake of collecting resources and at least leveling up your team to have a decent chance. But don't ever become attached to anything, because the game doesn't allow you to level up your characters beyond their set limits, nor does any of the equipment you collect last long. Keep that in mind whenever one of your "prized" fighters go down; they probably won't be seeing much use after a certain point when the better types become available.
The bad news though is the constant raids against your Waitroom via the Tokyo Death Metro. It reminds me of Metal Gear Solid 5's FOB invasion mechanic all over again, only this time since your characters can potentially get kidnapped, it's FAR more painful of a loss whenever you're successfully raided. At least the resources stolen from your Waitroom isn't a significant amount during the early game.
And finally, I've also had a chance to see the final boss and the game's ending on Youtube. Let's just say that the final boss has a LOT of cheap moves and an absurd amount of HP, and prior to that you're put into a sort of small semi-sumo wrestler arena that will basically insta-kill you anytime you fall out bounds. Not painful, at first... until they pit you against freaking COEN, the big, burly mutant who specializes at knocking you around AND can't be knocked out of the arena either! Basically, it seems the devs made the boss as difficult as possible to force players to waste Death Metal coins on constantly reviving during the fight. Honestly, watching that fight (plus the ending) sapped a lot of the motivation I had to endure.
Well, the game was free, so it's not like I lost any cash. And like I said at the beginning it's a fun game, but from floors 20 and above it starts using cheap tricks and inflates the price on everything to stifle progress and encourage you to use real world cash to progress. That, or begin grinding the lower levels of Tower which I'm finding myself doing mostly as of now.
Anyone notice the jingle that plays before the Gore-Tastic kill animations? Yup, blatant Mortal Kombat reference .
Fear the cinnamon sugar swirl. By the Gods, fear it, Laurence.Got the game cause I saw some gifs of Uncle Death on tumblr, thought he looked entertaining. He was and I love him.
I've just reached the surface and despite bringing my guns and my armor I'm getting my ass handed to me. What do I do at this point? I feel like I've hit a bit of a wall.
Oh really when?Get one of the newer Tier II fighters and start leveling them up. The guys that only reach up to lvl 25 are now outdated and only good for Tokyo Death Metro Wait Room defense (and even that won't be for very much longer, either...)
Oh, and the Haters are gonna become the single biggest pain in the ass you'll run into, especially the guys with the Machetes. Not much you can do about them, but keeping one of the transparentshrooms handy, sneaking up on them for a body slam, and then hitting them with a debuff grenade is probably going to become your go-to strategy. Might not hurt to have the lifesavermushroom equipped at all times too, in the event they get in more than a three-hit combo (which happens frequently).
Oh, another thing! Whenever you get rewarded SPI Lthium or kill coins, keep them in the rewards box and only remove them when you need it. It'll prevent your earnings from getting stolen by TDM raiders.

Let It Die is a brutal PS 4 exclusive from Suda51. Here's the man's philosophy on the game:
Here's the page on it.
You may have first heard of this game as Lily Bergamo, but it was changed mid-development into Let It Die. Tae Ioroi, who appeared in the initial reveal won't be in the game.
So, any thoughts on this gory title?
