Has Gavin been in an episode before? I haven't heard of him but then I have missed several episodes. Luna's rock band and the Lucy birthday episode appeal to me.
see my completed Tangled (Varian) fanfic collection! https://archiveofourown.org/works/24467056/chapters/59049532I read the new graphic novel a while ago.
The Loud House Super Special was pretty fun. It's based on the theme of superheroes, and it also utilizes the longer stories Papercutz has been using lately, allowing them more room to breathe.
"Under-the-Front-Cover Operation" has Lincoln getting the new Ace Savvy Special Edition from Artie Dombrowski (haven't seen him in a while), with $20, gum, and a 2004 Wisconsin quarter. Later in class, he peeks at it only to get caught. Mr. Bolhofner seizes it, and he turns into the villain the Belligerent Bull, while Linc becomes Ace Savvy. He orders him out, and he calls for One-Eyed Jack (Clyde) to recover it. Sneaking inside, they make it to the vault containing it. But it's a snap back to reality as Mr. Bolhofner catches them. It was pretty fun for them to go with the imagination thing. The show sorely needs it.
"Necessary Evil" is set in the Muscle Fish universe, which is quite interesting to see. After one too many defeats at the hands of Muscle Fish, Cephaloplex gives up on villainy and retires. A nun/reporter notes that this means the world is officially villain-free. It seems nice, but within three months he is disillusioned. Realizing what he must do, Muscle Fish arrives in Fiji, where Cephaloplex decamped and confesses that he was the "necessary evil" that gives him meaning, and asks him to come out of retirement like it was a proposal, which he accepts. Aww. It's a pretty fun story, and I liked how experimental it was. I wouldn't mind seeing a spin-off or something related to this.
"A Feline in Need" has Lana asking Lola about what she would do if she had superpowers (to the latter's dismay). Lana spots a cat in a tree and soon imagines herself as the Royal Flush (from Lincoln's Ace Savvy characters). She tries to use water from a hydrant (which drenches Lola) before lassoing the cat, which works...if it wasn't her imagination. In fact, the twins just get tangled and the cat is still on the tree...until it sees Lola's tiara and jumps on it. It's another fun comic with the twins and their active imaginations.
"Convention Confusion" has Ronnie Anne and Sid at a con. They're meeting Yoon Kwan and want to feel how soft his hands are (?!). Unfortunately, they're not available for things like autographs today, and Sid only got tickets for today. Ronnie suggests meeting the actor for Super[Star] Shownen. They find him and it turns out he's way too old. Sid gives up and prepares to leave only to find Yoon Kwan mobbed by the paparazzi. Ronnie Anne distracts them by claiming Manly Ubrick was there (apparently he's not dead yet). Interesting. Ronnie Anne prepares to receive a hug from him for saving his behind only for him to end up in Sid's arms (and she reminds him they've met before - quite a lot, actually). They're soon scared off by clowns (including Giggles, surprisingly). She takes the two to set off for backstage only to run into some furries and exposing one of them (to Yoon Kwan's shock). They're at the home stretch when he hears a baby crying. He breaks down, then Sid comes by and also starts crying. An exasperated Ronnie drags them backstage where Yoon Kwan reunites with the other members of Twelve is Midnight, and he gives her due credit. The girls ask for an autograph, but their hands were sore, which was why they were unavailable. They settle on a selfie instead, but unfortunately Sid forgets to get a copy. It was fun seeing the two again the two geeking it out at the convention.
"Shredded Beef" has Flip giving Lynn a toxic sandwich. He warns her, but she eats it. The sandwich ends up giving her super strength, and she dubs herself "Shredded Beef". The next day she helps out Clyde's dads, Seymour, and Lori. Lori spots someone robbing an arcade. It turns out to be her archenemy Sinister Scoots (duh). Of course, before we see the fight, we find all this was just a comic Lincoln made for Lynn. She wants to see more, but he says she has to wait, to her dismay. It was a pretty fun comic with Lynn, and it's also got a fun framing story, too.
"The Crowned Caper" has Linc getting a new Ace Savvy comic and yapping about it to his sisters, interrupting their day. They confront him, and he says he wants to show why Ace is so great. But they all dismiss his strength and abilities. He asks what they think the greatest hero should be. Leni suggests they would be super in fashion, which leads to her imagining herself as her own superhero, It Girl. Luna chimes in with Sonic Strum, who uses music. Luan chooses disguises. Lola pitches a hero who is sleek, elegant, and always gets what she wants, but Lana points out that she's describing a villain. She doesn't deny it, so they all imagine trying to stop her. They're interrupted by Lynn Sr. and his RPG party. They decide to join in and fight Lynn Sr.'s posse until Lincoln deploys Lily and her stink, which causes everyone to bail. Finally alone, Lola takes the room and the comic (to learn about her archenemy), and actually enjoys it. A new fan! This was a pretty fun comic, though the toilet humor went a bit too far. I mean, isn't Lily older now? I liked the ending, though.
"Scene Partner" has Luan asking Lincoln to be her scene partner for a scene assignment after Benny got sick. He imagines what would result: a successful play leading to Hollywood stardom and a Kids' Choice Award (speaking of, vote now!). Unfortunately, he's in Luan's class with Mrs. Bernardo, and when he comes to attention, he pretty much fails. "...maybe you should keep your day job," Luan says. This was another funny short comic.
Then we have a four-parter with the Hero's Fair, where Rosa and Sergio are taking the younger Casagrande kids plus Sid to help promote Sergio's book. I didn't know he could do that.
"Surprise Meet and Greet!" has the gang arriving at the convention. Rosa tells them to behave and tasks Ronnie Anne to keep a very close eye on Carl, because he will definitely get into shenanigans. Good God. She and Sid encounter Clincoln McLoud at the convention - they're entering a costume contest, while Howard and Harold are looking for old Orcs, Horks, Wizards, and Pork (I hope I got it right) merch. Ronnie turns and finds Carl is gone.
In "Comics, Tricks, and Carl Amiss!", CJ, Ronnie, and Sid try to find Carl, only for the former to be spotted by Rosa and roped in to work the booth. They hear Clyde saying he found him, only to find that it was just 1950s (?) merchandise. Linc tells Clyde that the contest is starting, so Sid decides to ask someone else. Unfortunately, it's Flip, and he's working the con at the con (get it?). Then Ronnie is spotted by her mom and Aunt Frida; Frida's doing heroic paintings. She's also doing face painting, and ropes Ronnie in. She flees before we see the result, then Flip comes by and tries to hook Frida up with Flippees and action figures (to Maria's dismay).
In "Dressed to Pose!", there aren't enough people. Sergio tries yelling at them, but CJ gets nervous. He berates him - that's a no-no that gets him la chancla. Rosa then notices the costume contest, so they decide to send CJ in to participate. Hopefully that would get people going to them. The other contestants are Clincoln McLoud in their Ace costumes, followed by Nikki, Sameer, and Casey as the villains. Then CJ gets up and ends up having stage fright, so Rosa jumps in as "Abuela Estrella" and he gains more confidence. Sure enough, lots of people swarm their booth, and Maria and Frida get in on the action.
In "Ace Savvy vs... Carl?!", we have Carl sneaking through the vents into the Ace meet and greet dressed as El Falcon, where he jumps into the room. He challenges the actor playing Ace Savvy to a duel, but when he simply humors him, Carl threatens to fire his elote blaster at him. He's caught by Ronnie Anne (with some butterfly face paint), CJ, Sid (borrowing a cat mask), and Clincoln. They ask Carl to leave, but he fires the blaster at them. He's disappointed to find that it only has one elote attached to some string. Sid, CJ, and Ronnie fight him while Clincoln McLoud takes care of the actor and his suit. Pretty wild. They subdue Carl in such a way that it impresses him. The kids are soon ordered out for the Q&A, and they return to the booth, where Rosa has prepared elotes for them. Then Frida has the kids and Sergio pose for a group photo to remember. Unfortunately, Lincoln finds out that what he got autographed was Ace Saggy. Yeesh.
This was a very fun multi-part story. I think it would work quite well as a 22-minute episode. It was fun seeing how tightly written and wound that was.
The overall graphic novel has some pretty fun moments. We got a nice mixture of long and short comics that really show how versatile the writers can do these stories. I also noticed that the title text has been drawn more creatively here. It's an interesting touch. I presume we'll see more of that in upcoming volumes. Art is pretty good as well, with generally high consistency with the show's art style. It's very distinctive. I loved how creative they got with this theme. I give special mention to the Muscle Fish comic and the four-parter. I cannot stress this enough, it shows how creative this franchise can be if they can put their minds to it.
I would give this graphic novel a 9.5/10. Fun for everyone.

More episodes with Mr Grouse. I like intergenerational friendship stories and they bounced off each other well. Get rid of the fart and toilet jokes, we already have Lana (who is in fact my least favorite sibling.)
see my completed Tangled (Varian) fanfic collection! https://archiveofourown.org/works/24467056/chapters/59049532I was thinking about getting back in the show after being away from it for some time, but this time I was thinking about skipping around for episodes revolving around characters I liked from the start instead of just waiting for them to come along, particularly Luna, since I always felt she was pretty cool. I don’t think it would be an issue anyway since episodes are pretty much built to be watched in any order too. Hmm
Nickelodeon has confirmed
that The Really Loud House has been renewed for a second season, accompanied by a feature-length Halloween movie!
