You know, in regards to Slaine offing Saazbaum, anyone get the feeling that had the latter lived, he wouldn't be pleased if Lemrina went for Rape, Pillage, and Burn on Earth, based on what Lemrina said to Asseylum's body in episode 14?
Alright, at this point in the story, I'm wondering whether the Orbital Knights are really skilled or they rely on their Kats too much. I think it's the latter because whenever their machine's gimmick is figured out, they get taken out shortly afterwards. They can't seem to adapt whenever this happens and since they think themselves better than the Terrans (mostly), they don't realize what their opponents are planning until it's too late to do anything but die.
As for Marylcian, his Herschel was the most threatening M-Kat to appear. I think he could have won the war for the Martians, what with funnels that attack from all sides. He even had the Tharsis on the run. Too bad he was too much of a Slaine-hating dolt to realize this. Also, for a machine that specializes in attacking from all sides, he was stupid for pursuing the Tharsis into a narrow space. He practically wanted to lose.
I wonder, though; since Slaine got all his assets, can he upgrade the Tharsis to include those funnels?

Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely.
And with that comes absolute stupidity. Many villains when they have 133t hax power that prevents most things from harming them only use that. It's why Superman has received training from Batman and Wonder Woman. So in case he can't use his powers he's not instantly useless and can still fight the good fight.
So I am not at all surprised by the knights.
Certainly, basically nobody on either side had any real experience before the series began. And, yeah, the Aldnoah powers have allowed the Martians to breeze through most battles, so when those fail they're facing down more skilled and experienced fighters with equivalentish machines, and lose quickly.
The exception here is Slaine, who had to go through a few fights without Aldnoah, and then had to content with Inaho and other Aldnoah users.
It certainly helps that Tharsis' gimmick is purely support, and still has speed as well as both close- and long-range offensive capabilities (swords and guns).
It makes me wonder how Cruhteo with the Tharsis would have played out if he fought either Saazbaum/Dioscuria or Team Deucalion (with and without that annoying eye).
At the very least, Hellas' Molecular Armor, Argyre/Dioscuria's Blade Field (plasma swords), Solis' Lasers, and Herchel's Funnels combined with Tharsis' speed and prediction ability would be OP
Elysium, Nilokeras, Lightning Kat (pilot is presumably Sebring, with the mono-drill hair), and Mazuurek's Kat (did it get a name?) seem too gimmicky on top of being slow or borderline-immobile (Sebring's Kat looks slow, by how large and bulky it looks.
Geryon (tentacle Kat, piloted by Keteratesse, according to the Other Wiki), looks underwhelming. I would have preferred him to job to Team Deucalion last week instead of Selnakis and Solis.
What was in your right hand is hope; And in another hand is something else to fade.Honestly Solis shouldn't be a mech that operates alone; it's great long-range support, but otherwise it seems relatively easy to overwhelm at close range (if you can get in there at least).
But yeah, Tharsis+funnels is...horrifying to contemplate fighting. Once you have someone who can read all of your moves and can answer them from a dozen directions at once, even eyehax will have trouble saving you.
deviantArt | TwitterWho taught Asseylum how to judo-flip someone?
My first guess was Slaine, especially seeing was able to subdue that one Martian soldier in episode 6 (before he stole the Sky Carrier), although that may just be basic military training.
What was in your right hand is hope; And in another hand is something else to fade.Well, Slaine seems to be conflicted about double-timing the princesses, but he also seems to be already planning ahead for when he has to make Lemrina "disappear" and replace her with Asseylum.
I enjoy this ruthless version of Slaine; it makes sense that the guy that has been kicked around a lot has also spent time planning his revenge.
Still, he really has no chance with Asseylum; she may not be remember much about Earth, but she does remember Inaho.

Yeah, I agree with that last part. I sense an impending "Slaine getting screwed by the plot again". Probably courtesy of the knight who talked to Inaho. Best is he ships Asseylum (and Eddel) to the Terran side.
Bunch of different ways this can go, so it will be interesting to see which one pans out.
Yeah, that was my thought. I mean...took them long enough. It's k

Again the Knights are Riding their high horse of Aldnoah. After having that for so long and generally curbstomping Earth has made them complacent. I can believe that fully with ease.
Slaine however knows where Hubris leads and decided it was time to stop messing around, plus as we saw Infighting amongst the Knights was common with few of them wanting to work together. So until recently where Slaine got Dangerously Genre-Savvy I could believe it.
Ihano will have a tough time Eyehaxing his way out.

Slaine is between a rock and a hard place. He KNOWS Asseylum will not approve of him ramping up the hostilities between the Knightsa and Earth, but he also thinks it is the best solution for the Orbital Knights at this point.
Lemrina supports his invasion, and he needs that support, but he doesn't love her.
He's SO screwed
the funny thing is, he's right (for once). A well organized assault leading to victory and then an equitable peace will result in FAR fewer casualties than a war that drags on and on and on.
Of coarse, Slaine slowly slipping into being a repressive dictator, with a 'the ends justify the means' approach will make the whole vicotry over the terrans meaningless, as the people will not benefit. He will just end up replacing one dictator with another (himself)
(See, See, I was right: Saabaum was Lenin and Slaine is Stalin!)
Before the other M-Kats appeared, I liked how everyone was involved with that smokescreen strategy. Well, I wonder what kind of teamwork those three counts will pull off.
If Slaine does get screwed over, I'm thinking that it would be due to Maazurek and Lemrina in some way, once she finds out that her sister's not dying and is actually awake.
Still, why didn't he tell her? She may have been jealous of Asseylum and wanted everything she had, but she kinda does cares about her. By keeping her in the dark, not only will she realize that he was lying to her, but also that she lost out to her sister again. Who knows how she'll react when the bomb drops.
Also, the Herschel belongs to Harklight now. So much for that Tharsis + funnels theory.
because Lemrina is immature and impulsive. Chances are, if Slaine had told her that her sister was awake, she would have done SOMETHING to undermine Slaine, and he was at a ver delicate part of his plan, trying to get the 37 Nuts to all to work together for once in their life.
Of course you are right: NOW when she finds out, she's going to throw a hissy fit that will be an order of magnitude worse. She will smile and say something like 'Of course you have the right to keep secrets from me', and 'Schemers are much easier to trust than honest people'.
Then she will poison his morning coffee and order all the 37 clans to attack each other (in his name, of course).
Slaine probably realized that Lemrina has a wee bit of a complex about her sister. Even if he doesn't know she tried to kill her, he probably figured out there is no way she's gonna move over if Seylum wakes up.
Anyway, since know that fate will contrive to screw slain over like it always does, we know she's gonna find out, the only real question is how it happens. I'm guessing Mole-knight will tell Inaho where she is and he'll mount a rescue mission.
Simple answer why he doesn't tell Lim about her sister? Slaine doesn't trust anyone. Never did. It's par for the course at Vers politics (despite jumping up and biting him in episode 7, where common protocol dictates at least identifying yourself when questioned by someone guarding a VIP, especially a VIP whose life was threatened.)
There's also the fact that Slaine's duel last episode wouldn't have happened if Lim hadn't foolishly let that "noble" fop land just because he said so.
Hoo boy, things just got a LOT worse for Inaho and co.

Harem_Author said: Remember how Inaho was testing his eye to see if it would help him read Inko better. Well, this episode, he did read her better. He explicitly apologized for keeping her out of the loop concerning certain events in episode 17, without her having to tell him, or even ask.
Um, no. This is Inaho we are talking about. He has no idea of what's going on in his owh head emotionwsie, much less anybody elses.
Rayet told him. She also probably told him to apologize.
