Important note:
- This thread is for discussing individual self-demonstrating character pages. However, it was determined that consensus regarding whether such pages are or aren't necessary or beneficial to the wiki needs to be determined before discussing individual pages, as stated in this mod statement
, so this thread has been locked in the meantime. Please join the policy discussion in this thread
on the Wiki Talk forum.
However, this deletion hints that rules should be in place for self-demonstrating character pages, so does anyone have suggestions for what the rules should be?
I have a few:
- Deadpool has one, no questions asked (even if everyone else's are deleted). Especially Charizard's.
- The character must be able to speak English (or other intelligible languages), except for Rule of Funny (like with Groot's page). Charizard violated this rule. Kyoko's page is fine since she'd be speaking Japanese, for example, which is simply "translated" for reader convenience (largely based on the official subtitles).
- There can be a forum thread where people can post their drafts and suggestions for character pages, similar to the Fanon Pokédex. In this case, new character pages can't be started without being reviewed in the thread. This is to avoid having the wiki oversaturated with pages for characters with boring personalities (like Shu Ouma) or ones with strange speech patterns that aren't for Rule of Funny purposes like Charizard. I can just imagine the chaos that would have ensued if other tropers had decided to follow my lead and create Pokémon Speak pages for about 30 other species of Pokémon.
Any thoughts?

The unique speech pattern isn't really the "good dogs" thing, it's more her nature as a condescending villain incapable of empathy who sees everyone else as below her, and who hides it under a veneer of politeness and allure, which is in line with pages such as Freeza, Light Yagami and Mewtwo to different extents. The treating people like dogs and calling them as such is played up a bit from the manga for the sake of establishing her unique voice, but is very much present, especially with how she treats Denji like a dog directly. I also tried to infuse the page with the perspective that she truly believes that she is above everyone else and that the way she views the world is just the natural order of things, not just "these are the things she thinks and these are the tropes that correspond to them".
IIRC (as I wrote it), the previous (now deleted) version of the page was just her regular character trope page translated to the first person and with a few of her quotes and memes thrown in, so I wanted to do better than that this time.

Check out The TV Tropes Character Crossover War! Moving to a new home soonSpeaking of which I probably want to do yet another overhaul of all the beings that Dr eggman has mentioned on his page.
Like seriously why is he mentioning almost everyone? I might restore it to how it was but only those that he has a degree of connection: Like Bowser and Vegeta.
"Come on Zero. Fight me. It feels so good :3"Yeah, also the Scott Steiner page pretty much mentions everyone as well.
Check out The TV Tropes Character Crossover War! Moving to a new home soonIt could work as a Long List format in theory, but it almost never turns out that way in practice.
2025: the year it all ends?Just now, I've considered making a page for the titular character of Scooby-Doo. He already has a pretty iconic and unique speech pattern (and considering that Shaggy already has a page, it is possible Scooby could have one too).

i say as long as it doesn't sound like first person troping it can work, that and scoob reacting to the other self demo cast would be funny
speaking of funny, i kinda wanna try giving abridged alucard another go at a page. his last one was kind of shit and that sucks because he DOES have quirks that can fit a self-demo, but whoever wrote that didn't, do so well about its
"And for one night only...you can get your revenge."For some reason, I was thinking of doing a page for Barney the Dinosaur just for the opportunity to make the whole "Beast Wars Megatron = Barney" joke come full circle when it comes time for the typical interactions section of a page. I think he has enough quirks that could translate well into an article.
I have a better idea: start the page off as normal, then have Barney realize that his "Uncle Gnashy" is coming to visit. Said Uncle Gnashy turns out to be Megs, who makes good on his promise and eviscerates Barney, turning him into a new Predacon base. Megs then directs people to his own page and ends the Barney article. For bonus points, have Patrick be a literal guest star for the "normal" portion of the page since he's known for his extreme stupidity and stupid characters liking Barney is a common joke, then have The Stinger be Patrick saying "B-but why did you kill Barney?"
If having it at SelfDemonstrating.Barney bothers the 3 people who wanted an actual page for him, the address can be something like JustForFun.Self Demonstrating Barney instead, with the former being a redirect. I feel like an unironic Barney article would mark the start of SD article bloat and would probably invite further degradation of the concept, which would lead to lots and lots of pruning down the line.

Check out The TV Tropes Character Crossover War! Moving to a new home soonYeah I feel like a Barney page could be an outright parody of bad SD pages. I even have an outline in mind:
- The page is narrated in the second person. You're browsing TV Tropes when all of a sudden, you see a purple dinosaur plush.
- Surely HE can't have his own SD page, can he? An impending sense of dread comes over you.
- Barney comes to life and greets you. You scream internally. The whole thing has an exaggerated Faux Horrific angle.
- Barney invited his new friend Patrick over, despite SpongeBob's concern for his best friend. Barney and Patrick play together as they wait for Uncle Gnashy.
- Then the whole Megs killing Barney thing happens. You're horrified at the polyester carnage, but it's somehow less horrifying than Barney being alive.
Also, the "play this music when reading this page" header links to the Carmina Burana.

Check out The TV Tropes Character Crossover War! Moving to a new home soonOh! If we give this a go, I feel it should be at DarthWiki.Self Demonstrating Barney. The Darth Wiki feels like the perfect home for it.

Check out The TV Tropes Character Crossover War! Moving to a new home soonBefore relaunching Makima's page, I actually used the Sandbox namespace rather than the Just for Fun one
Check out The TV Tropes Character Crossover War! Moving to a new home soonI’m not talented enough to do it myself, but I’d like to pitch one for Ibuki Mioda since her mannerisms are indisputably distinct enough for it to work.

Peace is the only battle worth waging.ok i may bite
i may make a page for the postal dude because one, not only would he translate well with all the stoopid lil jokes in source, i can try framing his check-out-the-others folder as him trying to get the rest of the index to sign the petiton-
"And for one night only...you can get your revenge."

I feel there should be a rule and it be pinned that new SD pages should be vetted to see if someone has a unique speech pattern.
As for SelfDemonstrating.Makima, I'm not sure. One would need to re-check the manga, but I have doubts she calls everyone good dogs every two seconds.
