Important note:
- This thread is for discussing individual self-demonstrating character pages. However, it was determined that consensus regarding whether such pages are or aren't necessary or beneficial to the wiki needs to be determined before discussing individual pages, as stated in this mod statement
, so this thread has been locked in the meantime. Please join the policy discussion in this thread
on the Wiki Talk forum.
However, this deletion hints that rules should be in place for self-demonstrating character pages, so does anyone have suggestions for what the rules should be?
I have a few:
- Deadpool has one, no questions asked (even if everyone else's are deleted). Especially Charizard's.
- The character must be able to speak English (or other intelligible languages), except for Rule of Funny (like with Groot's page). Charizard violated this rule. Kyoko's page is fine since she'd be speaking Japanese, for example, which is simply "translated" for reader convenience (largely based on the official subtitles).
- There can be a forum thread where people can post their drafts and suggestions for character pages, similar to the Fanon Pokédex. In this case, new character pages can't be started without being reviewed in the thread. This is to avoid having the wiki oversaturated with pages for characters with boring personalities (like Shu Ouma) or ones with strange speech patterns that aren't for Rule of Funny purposes like Charizard. I can just imagine the chaos that would have ensued if other tropers had decided to follow my lead and create Pokémon Speak pages for about 30 other species of Pokémon.
Any thoughts?

Cut Purple Man. Wow.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.On the topic of multiple characters per page again:
My understanding as to why a lot of these pages get cut is that there's often not an interesting dynamic or personality being conveyed. I think having another character or two that one can bounce off of in the descriptions makes for a more compelling read than just an okay character talking in first person. (Rick and Morty is a good example). Obviously we'd need some vetting and hard limits in there to keep it from going overboard, but I think there's a workable concept there.

Character Specific Page cleanupShawn Spencer and Burton Guster are a duo who play off of each other in a memorable manner. If not both, at least Shawn could get his own page, though Gus' exclusion would mean it loses something.

Workshopping this right now. If it doesn't get launched, at least I'll have had a fun experiment to work on.
Character Specific Page cleanupIm not sure how to answer that other than asking yourself "is this character entertaining to listen to? What about how they express themselves makes readers want to follow along"?
A lot of pages that have been cut in the past didn't really have a quality that made them seem more interesting than the kind of delivery you see in regular trope articles

Character Specific Page cleanupSelfDemonstrating.William Afton: the guy has maybe five voice lines in the games. he literally does not have enough dialogue to establish a unique voice. all his characterization comes from his actions. move to cut.
Makima was recently launched, with completely empty folders. I can't exactly tell if she has a unique voice, either.

Hi. In my opinion, yes. While I do have a bias towards the characters I create pages for (except for Riki), I found her much easier and more natural to write for than, say, Zeke Von Genbu or Eunie. She has the whole "overly-polite condescending villain" shtick going on like with Light Yagami and Freeza, with the added gimmick of treating all her subordinates like pets/dogs (which I'm sure some readers will get a rise out of even if it's not the intended effect).
It's easy to imagine her voice and diction when writing out the tropes (specifically, her dub voice since I'm writing in English), and I think she could make a great SD page. I do think her voice is distinctive enough, and it's not just a case of using mental gymnastics to justify an RP page for a favorite character; while Mythra is my all-time favorite fictional character, I feel like an SD page for her wouldn't work because her voice isn't distinctive enough.

Check out The TV Tropes Character Crossover War! Moving to a new home soonSo, does anyone know what SelfDemonstrating. The Asylum is supposed to be? Because I can't tell
HAPPY HALLOWEEN FOR MARIAApparently it's a character from some Youtube review show whose page is like swarming with ZCE
The Unbelievable Gwenpool may have a unique voice, but there are no tropes and haven't been for over three years (just like the page's creator). Cut?

Currently mostly inactive. An incremental game I tested: https://galaxy.click/play/176 (Gods of Incremental)Ok, here it is:
• Hades (Kid Icarus: Uprising): He has a HECK of a lot of personality and info., and an experience of breaking the fourth wall like the rest of the cast of the game.
• The original Frankenstein's Monster from the Frankenstein novel (or, The Modern Prometheus): The Count already has a page, so why not another classic gothic horror character? Plus, he has an interesting backstory and appears later throughout the rest of the novel after his creator abandons him. I say he has a lot to talk about.
• Sherlock Holmes: Has a lot of info. to back it up (plus maybe references to some adaptations) and...quite an interesting personality.
• Cuphead (Cuphead/The Cuphead Show!): While I admit that I don't know much about the graphic novels and the book novels, his show counterpart has an EXPLOSIVE personality and humor (and the show itself has its fair share of info. even if it has only one season at the moment). Also, while I DO know the show has its own continuity, he could still reference both his adventures in the videogames and his (mis-)adventures in the show, much like Shark Tale's Oscar mentions his actions in both the movie and the video game.
Also, some time ago, a troper gave an idea for a Yakko, Wakko and Dot Warner page (Animaniacs) and I also gave the idea for The Powerpuff Girls in the topic of animated trios in the SD's discussion page.
I'm also a bit conflicted if making the pages myself or not, since I don't have experience in making this specific type of pages.
What do you think?
Eat your vege-tables (┳━┳) and drink sum milk

That is the sort of thing my proposal would prevent.
