Important note:
- This thread is for discussing individual self-demonstrating character pages. However, it was determined that consensus regarding whether such pages are or aren't necessary or beneficial to the wiki needs to be determined before discussing individual pages, as stated in this mod statement
, so this thread has been locked in the meantime. Please join the policy discussion in this thread
on the Wiki Talk forum.
However, this deletion hints that rules should be in place for self-demonstrating character pages, so does anyone have suggestions for what the rules should be?
I have a few:
- Deadpool has one, no questions asked (even if everyone else's are deleted). Especially Charizard's.
- The character must be able to speak English (or other intelligible languages), except for Rule of Funny (like with Groot's page). Charizard violated this rule. Kyoko's page is fine since she'd be speaking Japanese, for example, which is simply "translated" for reader convenience (largely based on the official subtitles).
- There can be a forum thread where people can post their drafts and suggestions for character pages, similar to the Fanon Pokédex. In this case, new character pages can't be started without being reviewed in the thread. This is to avoid having the wiki oversaturated with pages for characters with boring personalities (like Shu Ouma) or ones with strange speech patterns that aren't for Rule of Funny purposes like Charizard. I can just imagine the chaos that would have ensued if other tropers had decided to follow my lead and create Pokémon Speak pages for about 30 other species of Pokémon.
Any thoughts?

SelfDemonstrating.Bob Hale is up since last July and, while looking promising, it haves no examples.
SelfDemonstrating.Naruto Uzumaki is a completely voiceless stub. Any objection to a quick cut?
Superman there seems entirely voiceless and I cannot fathom how it possibly could be fixed.
Bob Hale looks like it could be workable, but it's been a stub for half a year so... leaning towards a cut.

Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.I've cutlisted Naruto since it's the most obviously unworkable example.
Any further thoughts on SelfDemonstrating.Clone Force 99 or the other ones I mentioned?
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.SelfDemonstrating.Sephiroth mostly feels like his character page but told in first person to me.
There's also a YMMV page for him for some reason? Like I appreciate the dedication, but that doesn't really seem necessary (or allowed).
Hey, is Arthur from Fire Emblem Fates too obscure to have a Self-Demonstrating? Because, given his distinct traits, might be hilarious.
Can we go ahead and remove all the "read this in these streamers' voices" from SelfDemonstrating.Queen?
My musician pageThe same issue occurs with SelfDemonstrating.Spamton, can those be removed as well?
Guys how cool would it be if Super Megaforce had a green ranger...So both a King Shark and a Kangaroo Jack were just made by a new troper, and I'm already weary that both of these are not distinct enough for SD pages. It also doesn't help that it gives instructions in the description.
Just coming. Need to check on a few things:
- Any status on Aang?
- I feel like these peeps can get their own pages:
- Iron Man (Seen most of the mcu for Robert's performance and I believe there's a lot of fans for his animated voice in Earth's Mightiest Heroes, Eric Loomis).
- Mega Man X (Mark Gatha (the cool voice) and Ruth Marie Jarman (AKA girly voice :3))
- Zero (Mega Man) (Johnny Yong Bosch)
- Eobard Thawne AKA Reverse-Flash (C. Thomas Howell and Valentine Strokes)
Are they fine?
"Come on Zero. Fight me. It feels so good :3"No. Also, Superman was cut. We need to restore them.

"Come on Zero. Fight me. It feels so good :3"First of all, I'm not a guy. Second, I cut those pages because they're what this thread has already been cutting down on (character pages in first person without any distinct voice or personality beyond "I did this"). I apologize if it was out of line for me to cut without discussing first; I thought it would be more efficient to just get rid of more of the problem.
Superman, Batman, and Ryu are very standard protagonist characters, they don't have distinct voices that warrant pages. Frankly I don't think Lex Luthor warrants a self-demonstrating page either; his personality is just "pompous blowhard" and doesn't translate well to an entertaining read, but maybe that's just me.
That argument of no distinct voice is nonsensical. How when you have voices of Kyle Hebert (Ryu), George Newbern (Superman) (and then we might as well axe out Sephiroth’s page by your logic), and Kevin Conroy (Batman)?
"Come on Zero. Fight me. It feels so good :3"

It's been updated. Only issues is a few easy typos, and that it switches between present and past. And indexing? I haven't looked to see if there is a proper index for them, though?
And that's it for grammar/consistency. Otherwise, seems to fit the character pretty well, imo.
