Important note:
- This thread is for discussing individual self-demonstrating character pages. However, it was determined that consensus regarding whether such pages are or aren't necessary or beneficial to the wiki needs to be determined before discussing individual pages, as stated in this mod statement
, so this thread has been locked in the meantime. Please join the policy discussion in this thread
on the Wiki Talk forum.
However, this deletion hints that rules should be in place for self-demonstrating character pages, so does anyone have suggestions for what the rules should be?
I have a few:
- Deadpool has one, no questions asked (even if everyone else's are deleted). Especially Charizard's.
- The character must be able to speak English (or other intelligible languages), except for Rule of Funny (like with Groot's page). Charizard violated this rule. Kyoko's page is fine since she'd be speaking Japanese, for example, which is simply "translated" for reader convenience (largely based on the official subtitles).
- There can be a forum thread where people can post their drafts and suggestions for character pages, similar to the Fanon Pokédex. In this case, new character pages can't be started without being reviewed in the thread. This is to avoid having the wiki oversaturated with pages for characters with boring personalities (like Shu Ouma) or ones with strange speech patterns that aren't for Rule of Funny purposes like Charizard. I can just imagine the chaos that would have ensued if other tropers had decided to follow my lead and create Pokémon Speak pages for about 30 other species of Pokémon.
Any thoughts?

Has SelfDemonstrating.Wolverine been brought up for discussion? Seems a little sweary and…dunno, I haven’t kept up with recent comics in a long time but it feels like it’s leaning a little too hard into the more assholish takes on him.

SelfDemonstrating.Damian Wayne doesn't sound like a very unique voice.

Keet cleanupI say cut SelfDemonstrating.Agent Carter and SelfDemonstrating.Damian Wayne; they're both pretty dull.

Just stumbled upon SelfDemonstrating.Jeff Randell; doesn't seem very interesting.
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallThe SelfDemonstrating.Deadman page is being used in place of ComicBook.Deadman or an entry in a DC Universe character sheet for tropes related to Deadman's character and his mini-series. It also doesn't have the strongest voice outside of being in the first person.
Maybe a bit of an odd query, but I've just read Mordin's folder on Mass Effect 2 - Early Party Members. I feel like this would be a lot better suited to its own self-demonstrating character page (SelfDemonstrating.Mordin Solus), while the main page stops self-demonstrating.
TRS Wick CleaningI’m not sure if this has been brought up or if I’m in The right thread but the Lobo and Deadman pages don’t actually have non self demonstrating pages.
It's gonna be fun on the bun!I think they've been brought up here before, but nobody's actually added actual work pages...yet.
How's your day been?I've been reading old Deadman comics, which is why I brought it up a few posts ago. I'd be willing to make a new work page, but I am curious about the status of the Self-Demonstrating. From what I know, Deadman doesn't talk like he does in the self-demonstrating, but to be fair, I'm still on the 80's comic.
Ok I De Self-Demonstrated Deadman, although it could probably use more work, especially in the summary.
I also De Self-Demonstrated Lobo. Again it still needs help.

It's gonna be fun on the bun!So SelfDemonstrating.Clone Force 99 was made. And... yeah.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.I'd kinda like to make an SD page for Data from Star Trek: The Next Generation. He has a distinct way of talking, but I'm a little concerned, since I know people get really judge-y about these pages.
For every low there is a high. It's not that— it's also the Sesquipedalian Loquaciousness and other stuff like that.
For every low there is a high.So Jotaro Kujo was made a short time ago, and knowing nothing about the character, I figure I'd bring it up here just to make sure if it's kosher.
It doesn't have any tropes as of now, but the article's locked out by its creator.

So can the page on SCP-682 be cut?
