There is rampant misuse of this trope to mean 'just going really fast', when the actual (and pretty clearly defined) meaning is 'going so fast that reality suffers a prolapse and breaks your brain.' I'm not going to cite examples, even a cursory examination will reveal the extent of the misuse. Perhaps a rename is in order, as the current name merely invokes the 'going really fast' part.

Can't think of anything witty, so have this instead...

This is a perfect example of a TRS thread that doesn't present the necessary research. I just looked at some of them and as far as I can tell, a good chunk are using the trope within its definition. There are some that are zero-context, which in and of themselves are not enough to prompt a repair thread.

If you want to do this again, please do the work to present a random sampling of wicks.
