Yeah. My infantry looks badass carrying massive claymores around. In the early game the two-handed weapons do better than the sword and shield combo. Until you gain high level elemental weaponry, you're not really gaining enough in defense from a shield to bother with it. The two-handers generally have bonuses attached that make them more worth while.
Yeah, Vaulters and Broken Lords have cool looking stuff...though I find that BL has problem growing cities tho...at least in early game...sure using dust to immediatley get a pop is awesome, but all cities run on same resource pool...that also happens to be crucial for other purpose...ouch.
Give me cute or give me...something?It's not that bad. If you're lucky, you can get the Dust income to three digits by turn ten. I don't think you're really supposed to expand into more than one city fast with them, you're supposed to build up the city you start with first.
After that they become OP. Tonight I went from two cities to wiping out one faction using only two full units to do the task. Now I'm expanding like crazy and struggling to prevent issues.
Well, I just won that game by score. Went from last place to first in the course of one war, and even though my downgraded armies started getting their asses kicked, I held the lead all the way to turn 200.
Not too shabby.
ETA: Now I'm onto a Necrophage campaign, which is a whole other kind of fun.

I find non-hero melee units to basically suck, so I prefer vaulters and elf-people for their ranged basic units. Being able to level up a military unit with absolutely no attrition trivializes things in the long run. You say you conquered the world with only 2 units, but I've never even built more than 1...
Not really to which part? There's like three different things there that I said. 1. The Beta's out. Their words, not mine. 2. Trying out the Ardent Mages, who, by their description, sound like Sith. I'll admit that gameplay wise they don't come across that way. and 3. That this'll be fun. That's subjective. YOU might not find it fun, especially if they're not the faction you entered in the contest and you're sore over losing, but I've found it enjoyable so far.
Indeed. At first glance they looked like it. Not Bane-level Sith, but Brotherhood of Darkness Sith. Giving in to your passions and using pain to strengthen yourself while still working together with others.
Part of them is Zoroastrian, given the use of the term Saoshyant, which is the Zoroastrian version of Messiah and translates to "One who brings benefit."
Doing another Broken Lords run, and I'm having fun building up a single city-state. After a while of expanding correctly, you actually get boroughs that support themselves in approval. The trick's to find a nice, long stretch of land two hexes wide and expand along it. I'm at over turn 100 and I'm managing to pull down over 500 Dust per turn.
ETA: Is it just me, or does the game lag more now?

Well, the official release arrived. More factions were brought in, not to mention the creator so you can make your own.
There's the Mezari, who are just a reskin of the vaulters at the moment, though they have a stellar background and we've all seen how Amplitude handles reskins. In some future patches I expect they'll be fleshed out into a totally new faction.
There's a race of dragons who record history and work to preserve it.
And there's the Cult of the Eternal End. They're a race built for the One City Challenge, but they have the ability to upgrade their districts one level higher than anyone else, and they can swipe minor faction villages from other factions and use the six surrounding hexes for resources.
The game got pretty sweet.
Yeah, I bought the Founder edition myself XD
I also re-downloaded Endless Space in order to check and see if they fixed that error with the manual battles.
That and the Warner Bros sale, where I bought the first two Batman Arkham games because I heard they were awesome, along with the FEAR games.

I'm thinking of either the Vaulters or the Broken Lords, though most of them look cool (except for the elf guys, I don't like the look of them) I hope the game releases soon (and also that they release a patch to fix what broke in my copy of Endless Space)
