Wonder who they'll cast.
If they don't cast a black guy as the black ranger and an asian woman as the yellow ranger, they'll have to deal with fans whining about how it's Ruined Forever.
If they do cast a black guy as the black ranger and an asian woman as the yellow ranger, they'll have too deal with bleeding hearts whining about racism. Which they will also have to deal with if they don't cast a black guy and an asian woman for those roles.
Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
Color coding the races to their costumes was always stupid though.
No argument here, but so are alot of things people get in a huff about.
People complained that Godzilla didn't look like a man in a rubber suit.
Actually, they didn't realise what they had done until the third episode. Then again, the Native American guy later became the Red Ranger.
A story goes that Walter Jones was offered the choice of the black ranger or blue ranger and he thought the black ranger costume looked cooler. The original pilot also had a Hispanic actress as the yellow ranger. It's kind of a catch-22 when it comes to having a multi-racial cast, either you run into accidents like the Black black ranger and Asian yellow ranger, get complaints that they aren't the lead characters over the White Male Lead, or get complaints that you don't have ENOUGH diversity.
But like I mentioned, it's the combination of the two that makes it a problem, just color shifting the yellow ranger costume to something more in the orange spectrum could fix that problem with little effort.
You can't do that! The Orange Ranger has automatic superiority over the Red!
Boom, stop using SPD computers for personal business.
Johnny Yong Bosch ought to voice an anime frog because lol reference gag.
" story goes that Walter Jones was offered the choice of the black ranger or blue ranger and he thought the black ranger costume looked cooler. "
There's a video on You Tuge where Walter Jones straight up says in an interview at some con that they wanted to do the black best friend trope with the black ranger to the red ranger because the black ranger and red ranger were best friends in Zyuranger.
The Blue Ranger thing was started on IMDB.
The screenplay will be written by Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz, the writing team behind X-Men: First Class.
^^ I had a feeling it may not have been true, but true or not it still illustrates that such mistakes could happen without any malicious intent involved.
^ That's an impressive writing pedigree. This is looking like it will be a full on epic adaptation rather than simply The Film of the Series.
But which sentai will it adapt?
If that were true, I'd say that's where the Go-Busters footage was going. But it's more like a reboot, so back to the Zyuranger hybrid roots.
The producer says there will be some sort of continuity despite it being a reboot, and that they want to have cameos from the surviving members of the original cast.
The movie will have a July 22, 2016 release date.
Rumor-till-confirmation, Hit-Girl will be the Pink Ranger.
Roberto Orci has dropped out due to his directorial commitments to Star Trek 3. The Thor / First Class writers are still in charge of the script, though.
Huzzah to that news.
Whoa. This is a thing?
And it's being written by the people who wrote Thor?
I'd rather see a Western Kamen Rider movie.
So last night, some of the folks of Chez Apocalypse were joking about how much like Transformers this reboot would have been in Orci's hands, including jokes about him being a 9/11 truther, making Rita a Woman Scorned, and Alpha becoming the new Skids and Mudflap. I then horrified both Lindsay and Todd by pointing out that we already had that in Alpha 6.
you guys remember Rita's original motivation for trying to conquer Earth? it was simply because it was the first planet she saw after her escape.
In the source Sentai, wasn't it that her kid was killed?
That was why Bandora killed the dinosaurs. She came back to gloat to Barza that his prison had failed, and then kill all the children on Earth, starting with the two who came with the astronauts who freed her.
There is now a Power Rangers movie. It's just a short film, though.
Also fucking awesome.

How well does it match the trope?
