Changed w/o discussion: Loan Shark

Loan Shark was changed without discussion 3 weeks ago. Although the new one isn't bad, maybe it's a bit too literal.

The former was a character from Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney:

I rather like the new one better. It's literal, yes, but the old one was edging toward JAFAAC to me — the facial expression certainly doesn't say "hail fellow, well met" but there's really nothing to mark him as a loan shark rather than some other type of no-goodnik flashing a large sum of cash. (I can't find any evidence of a previous Image Pickin' thread, or that the page was ever tagged.)

I like them both, but the real shark one is really funny.

Also [up] Madrugada, judging by your signature, I thought you'd like this one I stumbled across while reading a novel recently: "His eyes ''literally'' danced as if ''on fire.''

I prefer the dangerous looking man offering cash than an actual shark.

I like the shark. And I don't think being literal in this case hurts the page, since I doubt there's much confusion for it being an actual shark. It's not exactly an unknown name for the character type.

There are better quality images to be found, so I can fix it up if we decide to go for it.

Here is the current image. Why not post both?

He smells debtors from miles away.

I prefer the original one. The shark one is kind of funny, but it feels too busy for my taste.

I think I prefer the shark. It doesn't seem to be any less clear, and it has the advantage of being funnier.

I prefer the shark one by a bit, for the reason Madrugada stated. (And, of course, it doesn't hurt that it's also funny.)

Biggest concern with shark is the artifacting.

I prefer the old one. The shark one is too busy, and the color schemes look garish.

[tup] for 11. The pun works for me.

I'm not really a fan of the shark. I agree that there's way too much going on in that image. the original one just seems clearer.

I lean toward the Ace Attorney character; the joke with the shark pic falls flat for me.

I'm torn on this one too. I'd tend to lean toward the better-quality shark pic; the garish colors don't bother me.

I'm going to hook a crowner shortly. I've cleaned up the Ace Attorney character, the shading around him was really ugly.

EDIT: Crowner's hooked.

It looks like someone cropped him out of an off-white background, but did a lousy job, using rectangular selection as opposed to lasso. 18 is good. Ace Attorney for me. The shark is pretty lame to me.

I voted the Ace Attorney image up but I wonder if we can get a better quality shot of that.

I like the idea of the shark, but the implementation is a bit lacking.

Bump for votes...if the ratio stays like it is, I may call it tomorrow evening.

A bunch of hilarious ones popped up. I don't like any of the suggestions myself, actually. It looks like there's consensus though, but just to throw a couple more options in there...

[up] I like the first out of those. It illustrates the collateral part and the tendancy for them to be violent in fiction. Though, copywrite may be an issue, since it's a single panel.
