IGN confirmed Bloodborne is indeed the Spiritual Successor of Demon's Souls.
Batman Ninja more like Batman's Bizarre AdventureConsidering most "Let's let our interns develop this game while we go focus on other projects" games are usually butt awful, Dark Souls II turned out friggin awesome.
ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.I wonder what the plot of this will be...You seem to be some kind of hunter of supernatural creatures like zombies and whatnot.
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.Oh good, the title changed. I was having some trouble finding it.
So it's not Bloodborne anymore?
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.It is still Bloodborne. They misspelled the game.
The thread used to be titled something different when it was still called Project Beast.
Batman Ninja more like Batman's Bizarre AdventureAh, okay. I thought they'd changed the spelling here.
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.Immense sadness.
Enough with the "spiritual sequels". I want my Demon's Souls 2! GWAH. They said the same thing about Dark Souls. Why not make a "spiritual sequel" to Dark Souls if we're going to just re-use the brand recognition rather than make a full-fledged sequel? Hell, Dark Souls 1 and 2 are proof that they can deliver a new story in the same world.
-watches Bloodborne trailer-
o_o
Well, I'm intrigued.
The new main character got eaten before we saw any gameplay. Shame.
Here's what IGN said on the matter:
Story details were also revealed, with the update explaining: "Bloodborne takes place in an ancient, forgotten city called Yharnam, known for an old medical remedy. Over the years, many hopeless and afflicted people have made long pilgrimages to Yharnam in search of help. As the main character, you are one of these travelers. However, you find that Yharnam is also cursed with a horrible endemic illness. You must navigate the perilous streets of this city, fighting off nightmarish creatures, malformed beasts and deranged mobs stricken with this horrific illness. Face your fears as you discover the secrets and mysteries of this dark and horrific world where danger, death and madness lurk around every corner."
And already, the plot sounds better than the original Dark Souls. :) So let's see:
Demon's Souls: A hero journeys to the land of Boletaria, beseeched by a cursed fog that brings about soul-devouring demons.
Dark Souls: An undead hero journeys outside of a prison and makes a pilgrimage to learn the fate of the undead.
Dark Souls 2: The player character is suffering from a curse and searching for a cure to their agony.
Bloodborn: The PC finds a town said to possess remedies is actually filled with illness and zombies.
Got to say, it does sound less epic when you ignore the dragon, or dragon-like face that showed up in the trailer. But while the setting isn't as grand, it does sound more compelling than Dark Souls 1 at least.

Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).Looks like this is as close to a horror-themed Warhammer game as we're gonna get for a while.

A Dark/Demon's Souls game where shields are banned? Oh dear.
RUH ROH
And by Demon' Souls Spiritual Successor, I think they meant it's moer linear, like Demon's Souls, rather then the more open-ended Dark Souls.
And then there was silenceAh, I'm such a sucker for Victorian Horror. An IGN article mentions that melee weapons can change forms, I wonder how that will play out? Me, I just want to rock a rapier and flintlock.
I do hope the narrative is better this time around.
Eh, I just remembered I'd have to pay for online now. On top of needing to get a PS 4.
PS+ is worth it.
I'm still gonna wait awhile before picking a next-gen system
The animation looks nicer. Maybe it's next-gen only?
I want to gauge this game via anecdotal evidence: one a scale of 1-10, where does your hype-level stand on it? I'm talking to everybody.
I wanted to get into the whole Demon/Dark Souls craze, but could never find the time. This seems like a good place to start.
I'm pretty hyped...wanna say like 8/10 but since I don't own a PS 4 yet those points are shaved down to 3 or 4. :C
Here's what I think is an extended version of that Project Beast snippet that leaked last month?

Hyped since it's by Miyazaki and I'm 90% certain I will own a PS 4 by the end of the year. 8,5/10
I would be at, like, 7 if it was on PS 3. Since it isn't, my hype level is around 2.
UN JOUR JE SERAI DE RETOUR PRÈS DE TOIFor those who can't Vimeo, the gameplay trailer on YT.
I as a dual-wield fanatic am fiercely mindsturbating in eager anticipation.

Fear the cinnamon sugar swirl. By the Gods, fear it, Laurence.I'd say my hype is around 7.
Combat looks faster paced from that last trailer, though maybe they just edited it to look that way. I notice also that torches are back, and seem to be used as a weapon now. Then again, thinking on it, I'm assuming you could use it as a weapon in Dark Souls II as well, I just never thought to try.
So far everything looks really awesome, but I have a lot of nagging questions.
Will the Character Creation (which I assuming it has) still suck? Will we have to sleep though another bare bones (and very boring) narrative? Will we still have to put up with plenty of Fake Difficulty and Guide Dang Moments?
So, I going to try and be as optimistic as I can, but I can't let these concerns go. So, 6.5/10
Jeez all the DS 2 hate makes me sad.
