I also still want them to do an actual slasher film. My idea would be the 1971 flick Blood Shack. It's got zero budget (most of the film is set in the desert and similar sparse locations) and has endless padding scenes involving a rodeo, basically it's the "Manos" of slasher films. Only problem is the length (71 minutes) which means they'd have to either put in a couple of shorts or do longer than usual host segments.

I've not seen it so I dunno how gory it gets, but that could also potentially be a problem. The show's generally operating at, like, Animaniacs level of kid-friendliness.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies. It's not even that gory, so that's no problem.
We've got Ator, the Fighting Eagle, the prequel to Cave Dwellers on the docket. Did we know that? I can't remember.
Mac and Me? Nice.
Atlantic Rim will be... interesting. A modern mockbuster will be... yeah. Seems like fish in a barrel, but I'd watch it on its own anyway (Transmorphers is amazing, by the way).

Fresh-eyed movie blogI'm watching it on You Tube, and they usually cycle through it another time or two.
I checked Netflix to see if the new season is up yet, and of course it isn't, but the branding has already changed from The Return to The Gauntlet. I clicked on "Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Gauntlet", and was confused when Reptilicus started playing.

Fresh-eyed movie blogAnd Season 12 is UP! Let the riffing commence!
WE'VE GOT MOVIE SIGN!!! AHHHHHHH!!!!
On the first one now. No, the terrible Chroma Key bleeding in the opening scene isn't a problem with the Shadowrama; it was really like that in the film.

Dr. Erhardt, yes! So that's what happened to him!
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies. So I can't see the new episodes. It says they're up, and the first one to play is Mac And Me, but the only episodes listed are S1 for some reason.

Fresh-eyed movie blogExcept I can't access S2 so... Yeah. I can watch Mac and Me, but it won't save my progress so it's quite annoying. Normally there's a drop down to switch between seasons, but no dice.

Fresh-eyed movie blogAlright, 2 more to go for the Marathon. Let's do this!
I hope they dont pull anything else from Asylum in the future.
Mega Man fanatic extraordinaireIf they do, it has to be their Sherlock Holmes Movie. Its their crown jewel
Loved the season. The Day Time Ended was probably the one I struggled the most with during the marathon. I was getting pretty tired and the movie's plot is... non existent.
I can't believe the new season dropped on Thursday and I only have one more episode left already. I've watched at least one episode every day and I had Saturday off and no obligations so I watched two that day.
Gonna be busy tomorrow night, so I will probably not cap it off then.
Fresh-eyed movie blogThe problem with the Asylum is that they're more or less "in" on the joke. They know they're making schlock and are fine with it.
I'm ambivalent on that. Stuff like Sharknado and Birdemic was funny to see riffed by Rifftrax, even if the films were deliberately invoking So Bad, It's Good.
But there's also something to say for films where they Took the Bad Film Seriously. The earnest effort at making Great Art is something to behold when it goes totally wrong.
Joel's said no in the past, on the grounds that badly animated characters tend to have fewer funny facial expressions than physical actors preforming badly. It's harder to misinterpret what an animated character is thinking for comic effect.
