I know he mentioned in a backer update that this was coming as a result of the change in how TV is paced in general.
Fresh-eyed movie blogOkay, so far the beginning of The Beast of Hollow Mountain has kinda thick riffing, but it's a scene without dialogue, so there's a lot of room to fill.
Fresh-eyed movie blogIt does seem to happen more in scenes without dialogue, which is probably a good idea, lest things grind to a halt.
Oh God! Natural light!Oh that makes sense. I got the sense from what I saw that Crow was grabbing Jonah with all four limbs and ushering him out of the theater with a flight ability not seen before or since.
Also parts of the theme song sequence make more sense the first time Jonah goes through it and parts make more sense in every subsequent episode where he knows the routine.
Fresh-eyed movie blogSo this is a strange sentence I never expected to utter but... the low point of the series for me is easily Patton Oswalt. One of my favorite actors and comedians but I can't tell if it's him, the character, or some combination of the two that makes pretty much everything about TV's Son of TV's Frank to be as "meh" as possible.
The only time I found him really funny was during the skit during Beast of the Hollow Mountain where he (along with everyone) was going insane at the bots' weird-ass parade. "TELL ME WHO I MUST KILL TO APPEASE YOUR MADNESS!" But I have to say, that skit had me in stiches. Probably the funniest MS T3k skit of the season, for me.

The song with Kinga and her space magician (Neil Patrick Harris, can't remember the character's name) was great. The lyrics were clever, and they did a great job singing. I loved how at the end, that last note, they totally fail to harmonize. (Which is hard to do on purpose.)
This season has great one-off character names. Neville LaRoy, Freak Masterstroke, Phineas Tiberius Mindslap...

Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.![]()
I'd actually be totally down to buy an OST for season 11. I love the between scenes music (I'm digging the ska tunes), I like the new version of the opening, and goddammit, I am pretty sure I want the MS T3k closing theme to be played at my funeral.
I get the idea Max is supposed to be generally unimpressive? The only time I've been particularly disappointed with him so far was when he had the part in the long-distance relationship song about how badly he wants Kinga to want him that way.
Fresh-eyed movie blogWell yeah. Doesn't mean he can't be entertaining. I found Frank and Bobo funny after all. Max just has been... A waste of a wonderful comedic actor.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.Well, I watched the last episode. So what are they going to do now since Jonah is possibly gone? What'll happen with the next season? (Assuming that there will be one?)
Honestly, I liked most of everything about the revival, and the faster paced riffing didn't really bother me, it's just that the way they sent off Jonah just didn't sit well with me for some reason. It just seemed kind of cruel considering that Joel and Mike got happy endings, yet Jonah goes out in a fairly undignified manner. I dunno, maybe I'm missing something, but just at face value it's kind of a Downer Ending.
Other than that, as I said before, I think this was an excellent revival. Here's hoping for Season 12!
"Hey, least I didn't lose all my artistic talent when I crash landed in the arena here."Jonah Ray's said he's doing at least 100 episodes if they get that far. No way in hell Jonah Heston's actually dead.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.I fell asleep on the one with Hercules, but I can't imagine the "operatic" cacophony of screaming at the end being much less annoying with context.
Fresh-eyed movie blogI wonder if that's supposed to be a piece of character development: that Kinga Forrester just isn't very creative. Hitler Coffee isn't an invention; it's debatable whether the Sponsor Clock counts as an invention; from Cry Wilderness to The Land That Time Forgot all her invention ideas are stolen from Jonah and the bots' riffing; and in her very first episode she tries to pass off that week's movie as something "better" than an invention.
And then there's the elephant in the room. Kinga Forrester somehow has a lot more resources than Clayton or Pearl did. She has a multi-level moon base, the ability to clone dinosaurs and the facilities to hold them, and her own race of atomic supermen. If she put her mind to it, she could probably conquer the world the old-fashioned way. Or if her real goal is just to become a billionaire, then she could probably make that much by selling anything besides MST3K. I get the feeling that she's mucking about with trying to drive a guy insane with bad movies just because it's what her dad did, it's what her grandma did, and she's not creative enough to think of anything better.

Are they? I thought that was an interesting reading, myself.
Or does this show not merit character analysis?

Oh God! Natural light!Carnival Magic was just incredible from start to finish, in that 'I can't believe this is really a thing that exists' kind of way. Plus I missed the Kickstarter and I had no idea Mark Hamill was one of the guests they lined up, so I got to be taken completely off-guard by the PT Mindslap segment. Awesome.
I haven't seen the finale yet, but so far the only movies that stuck with me (the movies themselves, not the riffs and skits) are Starcrash, Wizards 2, and The Christmas that Almost Wasn't.
I'm really hoping this year's Turkey Day ends with TCTAW.
...hang on, I wonder what the Netflix deal has to say about if they can use episodes for a non-Netflix livestream. I know everyone on the creative team wants to have an even mix of Joel, Mike, and Jonah episodes.
