So, these guys make top 10 lists (top 10 best or worst being the obvious). Occasionally they make follow-up lists if a subject proves popular.

They focus on pretty much everything, but I'm sure most people will say their best videos involve pop-culture in some way. If you sign up with them, you can vote on or suggest potential lists in the hopes that they someday get a video made about them.

Anyone else a fan?

Despite how much I like their gaming videos, this one has become a favorite of mine because of how much it needed to be said.

So, I was thinking of a way to get this thread moving without overcrowding it with video posts (because they put out too many videos to make that feasible). I'm instead going to post what they put up within a certain week, as a sort of review (they like to use themes during certain weeks and months).

This one was a pretty good week: I actually watched most of these. I'd say my favorites were top 10 rip-off songs, games that ruined their franchises, and philosophers.

I love the lists.

My only problem, which I find rather trivial, is that when it comes to any anime-related list, they suffer from some Small Reference Pools.

[up]Yeah, they tend to look at things from a very western perspective. Putting Rock the Dragon and Jason Paige's Pokémon theme on their video for the top 10 anime openings probably makes sense from the perspective of a 90's kid, but makes no sense taking anime as a whole (they were also limited by taking only from shows that have received a dub, which Attack on Titan had been confirmed to as of that video).

This was an alright week. I didn't watch that many of them, but that Oasis video got me to check out (What's The Story) Morning Glory? (the only record of theirs that I have) and I can safely say it deserves its hype.

I didn't think The Simpsons were anywhere near high enough on that dysfunctional families list (I could've imagined them hitting #2 if The Bunkers had been #1).

How many different Watch Mojo playlists are there out there? I like Top 10 TV and Movie Royalty.

[up]Quite a few.

I missed posting last week because I've been busy, but here they are.

I thought the theme here of decade defining song was interesting, even though they all had so much focus on pop, and I thought the 70's list was ruined by putting a disco song as #1. They even started a new list more focused on hard rock and metal, which should hopefully get thumbed-up enough to get made soon.

I kind of thought Chernabog would rank higher on their darkest Disney moments list, but it was a good list. Excluding Pulp Fiction in their quotable movies list was dumb. Having two FMA characters in their anime heroes list was also dumb. But since it was so musical, I can give this particular week a B+.

Has anyone done any voting or suggesting of lists for Watch Mojo? In one video people say how the #1 shouldn't be up there but it was voted that high on the site. I know some people just like to complain but if you care you should vote.

Pretty much. The list are hollow as hell too with them giving only the shallowest, shortest of reasons as to why something is where it is on their list.

The top 10 anime romance video is so bad is not even funny.

Watchmojo doesn't know about anime.

The people who did the polls don't know how to differentiate romance, shipping, and platonic love.

And worse, SAO is number one.

I'm done with this site.

Well maybe it wouldn't have made a difference because they used almost nothing from the list but then again almost no one voted on the titles so maybe the list would have been better with more voting. What's wrong with SAO being number one and can you come up with your own list of the top ten anime romances?

To be fair, they recently did a list of the top 10 cartoons of the 2010s, and put GF pretty high up on the list:

[up][up] I cannot give a proper top 10, because I don't watch that much romance. However, unlike Mojo, I know what's the difference between Shipping, a proper romance, and a Platonic relationship, something that Watchmojo seems not to know.

Some of the examples are not romance at all. Maka and Soul, Natsu and Lucy.

I'll will admit the SAO example is because I heavily dislike the show. The series is pretty mediocre, and it dissapoints me it came to the first spot, unlike, I don't know, any of Rumiko Takahashi works, or hell, "Rurouni Kenshin" Kenshin and Kaoru.

My only problem, which I find rather trivial, is that when it comes to any anime-related list, they suffer from some Small Reference Pools.

Their JRPG list had a similar issue. Not that it was necessarily a bad list but it was pretty generic all in all.

I'll will admit the SAO example is because I heavily dislike the show. The series is pretty mediocre, and it dissapoints me it came to the first spot, unlike, I don't know, any of Rumiko Takahashi works, or hell, "Rurouni Kenshin" Kenshin and Kaoru.

tbh pretty much all of their list below SAO is a better romance than Asuna and Kirito even if it isn't an actual relationship in the show itself.

winry/ed and suzaku/euphy are about the only two on the list that i find remotely agreeable (that are from things i've watched) and even then i wouldn't necessarily say they were exceptional romances.

I think RK should have been in but I probably would have picked Tomoe and Kenshin instead because it's probably the best love story I have seen in a mainstream shounen.

Personally I would have also put Caska and Guts from Berserk, probably as number one. to be honest i'm not sure what else i would have put in a top 10 since i don't exactly watch a lot of anime where the romance is super important or an actual romance (not ship tease). i get the feeling this is why SAO was first simply because it's one of the biggest mainstream anime with an Official Couple that doesn't hook up only at the end (never mind that SAO is really poorly written all-around).

i mean i get that these videos are just opinions and all but even the list in question just makes me think the makers don't really watch a lot of anime.

Someone made a list for anime vampires.

DIO won the popularity poll, BY A LONG SHOT.

And he is not even on the actual list. Not honorable mention, not top 1 or 2, nothing.

Watchmojo is fucking youtube clickbait. Pure and simple. There's no reasoning for why item X has rank Y in their list, or research for the damn list. It's just "lets make the vaguest attempt at a top 10, give it a striking title and a intriguing or controversial thumbnail and people will click it and we get ad revenue."

There's nothing else to discuss. It's not like you can discuss their ranking and say why/if you agree or disagree, they don't give reasons, they only give the most shallow of voice overs about whatever item they are discussing.
