Ditto.
...By the way, I still want to write a little "prelude" before Audrey's "official" introduction, but I've been kinda busy with some RL related stuff that seriously hamper my writing abilities.
Nonetheless, it seems I still have some time before this night ends, so I'll try to write it soon enough.
"It's better to burn out... THAN TO FADE AWAY!"Egh, give it another few days or so. After that if he doesn't show up, all in favor of the inmates taking over the asylum?
(I'm only partly serious about that, but a few things have occurred to me: we've got massive casts, too many to handle effectively in only one scene, and players who post at different rates, and enough room for multiple unrelated storylines if we need them. This might work better as collaborative storytelling, but that's just me spitballing ideas.)
Charlie Stross's cheerful, optimistic predictions for 2017, part one of three.Well, yes, you'd still need GM(s) for combat control and to control Kyubey. I'm not certain the collaborative storytelling idea is practical, but games collapse when the GM has to control too many puppetstrings with too few fingers without assistance.
It's easier here; no global geopolitics, no spymasters controlling espionage agencies, no information flows to trace. PMMM is wonderfully character-driven, meaning much of it is down to PCs and their interactions with each other.
Charlie Stross's cheerful, optimistic predictions for 2017, part one of three.Double post, but, this is getting quite silly. Operation Inmate Uprising will go into effect starting, say, tomorrow (in twenty-four hours or so); I propose we at least get to work wrapping up this first witch fight—and, for the hell of it, shall we say with limited narrative NPC control. (Hit and send a familiar flying? You can write that instead waiting for the GM to roll and narrate the to-hit.) Then we can decide what to do after that—maybe divide the game into "fast" and "slow" PC parties, perhaps...
Come to think of it that's the beauty of a PMMM game where all the megucas are PCs. Most drama that arises would be the results of the players' actions. Kyubey wants souls, but for the most part he doesn't make things happen, meaning that it's not up to the GM to push the plot along.
(Yes this is something of an experiment, but if Gladonost isn't back in time, why not?)
Charlie Stross's cheerful, optimistic predictions for 2017, part one of three.I can handle that for a while, and maybe hand it off to someone else after I find out that typing Kyubey's dialogue gets my face stuck in a permanent grin.
Charlie Stross's cheerful, optimistic predictions for 2017, part one of three.@Sabre: Yeah, I'm OK with that... Both with the idea of "the inmates taking over" and yourself being our interim GM.
You seem to be the most savvy when it comes to the Puella Magi mythos and general style, so it would only be logical for you to help us with that job. So, yeah... You've got my vote for it.

"It's better to burn out... THAN TO FADE AWAY!"Awww. I'll do it for now, and hopefully figure out a workaround at some other point. (For instance, two parallel plot threads, one run by me, one by someone else, would work; in one I'm refereeing combat, in the other I'm playing a character. But that's for the future.)
Anyway, I'll try to take up the reins tomorrow and experiment around a bit until I can get it to work. I am hoping for a decent degree of collaboration here, though.
Charlie Stross's cheerful, optimistic predictions for 2017, part one of three. And Operation Inmate Uprising is go, with the inaugural post up and running.
To add an element of randomness to the combat, I decided to experimentally incorporate some dice rolls. Nothing seriously mechanical, just "how well does this go?" And then...well, just go and read the post, you lot. And whichever one of you went and pissed in the RNG's temple, please apologize to her, I'm going to start fearing for you if this trend continues.
Charlie Stross's cheerful, optimistic predictions for 2017, part one of three.I was afraid of things like this happening, yes.
Well, I'm going to have to NPC her for the remnant of this fight, pull her offscreen at some time. And then, possibly, some time in the future, players can have fun guessing which witch she becomes!

I'm in there
