If you're following the manga, there's an inherently bigger problem here with regards to Nagate — in that he himself has no idea what really constitutes a romantic relationship. It's why much of his interactions with Izana and Yuhata later on come off as awkwardly platonic (despite what both girls would like), even when someone else is trying to push things along see Izana's grandmother.
In any case, shipping in this series is ill-advised. I suggest just sitting back and enjoying the hard SF and mecha action, what there is in the midst of the harem hijinks. And there WILL be a harem.
As for you know who, what, you'd think this will be the LAST time we'll see of her? You'd be dead wrong on that account.

Oh, I'm caught up with the manga, but there's other people in here who haven't read it, and I've been deliberately vague in my posts to avoid even giving hints of spoilers to others.
You're totally right, though. Nagate's always been socially awkward, and even as the series progresses and he improves, he doesn't get over it completely.
I just realised true terror of Sn K, here horrifing date interupting space monster might as well double as your ex!!!!

Ghana Hoshijiro is super creepy, at least Kunato shows some kind of remorse.
Hiroki was a complete badass, cloning explains Nagato's prowess a lot more.
Do they ever explain Hiyama? We got some past information, but I don't understand why/how she is a bear.
Some decent back story this episode, and a lot more questions where brought up.
Sort of a Tell Tale Heart thing going on with Kunato here.
These are the words that shall come from my mouth. I shall be known for speaking them.A few things were changed from the manga; Kunato doesn't freak out in this battle, that I recall, and it seems that another event (the Mass Union Ship's appearance) has been moved to another battle, since it didn't happen in this one.
I thought that tweet only said they would be happy to make a second season because the 3D is quite satisfying?
Also: Nagate eats Nori in Chapter 62.
If you see me I'm on an accidental Archive Binge. There was a post earlier on Yaraon, but then it quickly flipflopped on the topic of another season. As for he current pace of the adaptation though, it looks like they're trying to get the Benisuzume plot taken care of within the scope of the cour. Though stranger things have happened — see Magi's situation, where the freaking second season was announced only well after the 1st season was into its "ANIME ENDING FOR THE LOSE" track.
As for the manga, ugh, the Mizuki mission seemed to be headed well into FUBAR territory before it truly begins.
I'd like to say that mission contained a few situations that really might bite Kobayashi and Nagate in their rear ends in the future. But I'm getting ahead of myself.
If you see me I'm on an accidental Archive Binge.

I suggest you spoil all your post, man.
