Long story short: The raids aren't jail or front. They are jail and then front.
Russia is raiding those clubs exactly to have more cannon fodder for the war. Bullshit criminal charges designed to claim they aren't forcibly conscripting people, they are "just sending convicts" to the front.

New sat photo from today showing Tartus navy base mostly deserted.
Basically Syria was a hub for the Russians to bring out their plunder from the dictatorships they support and bring in support and their reinforcements (mostly Wagner mercenaries) for their African holds.
Losing it will severely hamper Russian power projection and reach in the Middle East and Africa.

Inter arma enim silent legesWell, I would say that there is not a big chance of keeping the bases, but on the other hand Russia can offer Jolani things even Turkey can’t (and the USA most likely won’t). On the third hand, he probably can’t be seen as soft on Russia before his position is secure. So, who knows…

Given that Jolani already reached out to Russia saying he has no beef with them or Iran (or any of the minority groups), I don't think he's in much danger of that. That doesn't mean the Russians get to keep their bases of course, but it does likely mean they will be allowed a clean withdrawal of equipment and personnel at the minimum.
And also, given how much the Republicans focus on Jolani being ex-AQ, I don't see the US really dealing with him in an official manner (unofficially though, maybe).
I'll be curious how Europe deals with him though. Of course that also depends on him remaining as chill as he is, which is likely but by no means a given.
But even if he is chill, it depends on the US not snatching defeat from the jaws of victory...which is a lot more likely than Jolani suddenly going full al-Baghdadi or something. Especially given that Israel just seized yet more Syrian territory, and the US is likely to cheerlead that.
"The war hasn't had a direct effect on the daily lives of ordinary Russians, not yet. "
ordinary moscoviews that it, we see what happen when russia call mobilization of city, they rebel and have to scrap it, Putin pretty much leave the big city alone and people just sort of pretend the war dont exist. it minorities or hilarious enought, people from proxy republic who have suffer the most. nowdays Russia ide ais to up benefit in order to draw recruitment

Pretty sure that there won't be another wave of mobilization in Russia. Government can simply keep increasing salaries and payments of soldiers. After all, nothing prevents Russia from giving away any amount of rubles, they can simply print the required sum. Sure, it will drive up devaluation tomorrow, but it will give cash today.

zelenisky kinda said the same of why it want restriction to drop in part to "take the war to russia".
Yeah, kremlim is dead scare of any social unrest after that mobilization wave so they pretty much keep making join the army atractive while using other cover method. it work in the sense that a) allow a contious wave of atacks(which have given more territory) and b) more russian just...got quiet and have allow Putin to go his merry way.

If this were any other country, I could see this be the start of some kind of mass revolt, but the Russian population seems so apathetic that I don't think anything will stir them.
