Like Madoka Magica, but with less magical girls and more children's card games. Anyone else watching this?

Hmm... I'm gonna wait and hear how things are for a few episodes before deciding to watch or not. I'm not crazy about J.C. Staff, the director, or the writer.

Let's see...

Is it just me, or does Hanayo look like Patchouli?

Also, it didn't exactly do a good job explaining the rules, there. You just sort of... call your Vanguard's name (or whatever the Selector cards are called), add another card to the field and... attack with your leading unit? And you level up somehow for some reason. The set-up was there to explain the rules, but... they simply didn't.

I also didn't even notice this was supposed to be a card game show until I watched.

This is... going to be very strange.

It's just you. The only similarity is long, purple hair. Not even in the same style

your Vanguard's name (or whatever the Selector cards are called)

Hope the rules get explained, because I'm confused right now. Well...I didn't even think it was going to be a card game in the first place. So, no lives will be lost! But wishes will end...

This is the season of card games, huh?

So this anime's name is pronounced "WEAKSAUCE", correct?

"Wee-cross"

I'm not sure where the 'r' sound comes from, but it's there

First, somebody should go to the author's face and yell "Mr, do you even English??"

Same as usual.... Wing it.

Watched the first episode and it does seem quite interesting, something like Madoka Magica meets [C]: The Money Of Soul And Possibility Control with cards. It does seems to have potential to become dark quite quickly. Also Tama is cute.

It's certainly aping Madoka more directly than Daybreak Illusion, both in visuals and plot. And honestly, that's probably a good thing. Daybreak looked like shiiiit. I guess we'll just have to see. Hopefully the whole twincest thing won't be played up for fan service. Hopefully.

Grandma is obviously important. Interesting that she made a level for that game. Yuzuki was clearly just using Ruko at first. I'm curious as to whether they'll actually become friends. Can't tell if the card game has any actual rules, or if it's just the stronger card wins. Presumably we'll learn the rules later. Tama is crazy. Twincest already.

All in all, it was okay. Interesting enough to watch at least. This does look like it's doing its own separate thing from Madoka even while drawing from it, so that's nice.

I feel that the people at Daybreak actually did know what they were doing. They just didn't have the talent to pull it off, especially with the animation and characters.

A) I liked Genei Taiyou's art style B) WIXOSS doesn't remind me of Madoka visually, beyond the urban/industrial theme

The plot was a clear casualty of the desire for a second season, at least

This show doesn't remind me too much of Madoka, the consequence of losing 3 times is no worse than losing all points in Accel World.

A) I'm glad someone was able to appreciate it. B) That's what I meant. Moe and a focus on urban environments . There were a couple shots that were particularly reminiscent. Also a couple similar plot beats. Not really a perfect comparison. The visuals aren't quite the same and the wish thing is definitely more like the Holy Grail War than Madoka.

Daybreak's art style is fine, the thing that I have issues with is the overuse of the same two BGM. Yes, they have budget issues, but overusing the same two pieces over and over again does not help in understanding the plot.

People are starting to see this as a female spiritual successor to 5D's. Arc V, you got a strong competitor.

For those interested: actual rules of the TCG.

Rule
To win, a player must brought down all of their enemy's life shield.

Players have two decks: main deck (SIGNI and SPELL card, black backing) and LRIG deck (LRIG and ART card, white backing). Main deck is composed of 40 cards, LRIG deck is composed of 10 cards. Player must have a level 0 LRIG in their deck. Player can have up to four duplicate cards in a deck. Cards with "life blast" effect are limit to 20 in a deck.

To start the game, place a level 0 LRIG face down on the field. Players determine who can attack first before drawing five cards from their main deck. Once per game, players can discard unsatisfactory cards back into the main deck and draw the same amount after shuffling. After drawing, players draw 7 cards from main deck and place them face up on the life shield field. Game starts when players flip their LRIG face up.

It has more rules than YGO.I am sure everything will work out without the use of Obvious Rule Patch.

So, new episode. Decks come in different colours; so far we've seen Red, Green, Blue, and White. I'm going to assume that Black is out there as well

New girls. Hitoe is a Shrinking Violet and Akira is a sadistic kawaiiko. The latter is so unlikable she loops arounds and becomes likable

Not sure what Hitoe is running, but Akira has a blue control deck. Yuzuki presumably has a red aggro deck

Ruko... doesn't seem quite right. Like she doesn't really understand other people

Decks come in different colors, and with them, they feature a different playing style. Blue specializes in discarding, red's probably raw power. Not sure about the other colors, though.

You win when the opponent's field is completely covered in your color. Nice touch.

Akira sure was...persistent. Ha...ha?

Yuzuki was also persistent in trying to avoid her. But after being put through an emotional roller coaster ride...she needs to unleash her rage on someone. And Akira's just the person she needs.

[up] Complete with Blue being a bitch *gets flashbacks from being defeated by blue decks*

I have yet to see hints of Red being about raw power but going by the theme, it will probably be so. Btw, Hitoe was said to be using a Green deck. Not sure on what it's good for. Seemed like she was not even able to use its potential.

Ruko actually says she uses some non-colored cards. She might be using colorless... which means Tama might be an Eldrazi wild mass guess

Okay, so apparently this game runs on psychological warfare. Not entirely surprising...

I've got new mythological machinery, and very handsome supernatural scenery. Goodfae: a mafia web serial

Hm...I think Hitoe or maybe Ruka may be my favorite character and Midoriko my favorite card person. Whereas Akira is a level 9 bitch.

Yuzuki has a good sense of justice. Tama is kind of ridiculous, since she thinks she is a cat but that's okay.

There's no way I am memorizing the rules of this children's card game.

So Yuzuki has loved Kazuki since...kindergarten. The drama of the situation is only slightly forced.

Okay, okay, Hitoe is definitely best girl.

God damn it Akira. She had better turn out to be Kyouko and a Jerk with a Heart of Gold that everyone ends up loving.

This is going to go downhill into psychological trauma really fast, isn't it?

Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.

Is it normal for Japan's female population to be so screwed up? I kind of hope Akria stays a dick. That kind of craziness is always fun to watch. Her playstyle seems almost OP. Yuzuki suddenly seems really weak, but maybe she'll do better next time. Ruko got the hang of this pretty fast if she already can pick out a card that can improve her deck. I wonder what her problem is. Lack of empathy?

Did Thoughtseize just become Blue? >_<

I'm pretty sure that Akira's got some reason for why she acts the way she does. If we're going with Madoka analogies, she's probably the Kyoko of the five.
