was the show really one of Johnny Yong Bosch's first voice acting jobs? he sounds so different than i'm used to hearing.
All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.The badlands film (which is on Netflix) isn't an adaptation. At least, I haven't seen any Manga it was adapted from. It is set 10~20 years after the end of the animé. All the characters are still around, having moved on from the past ( Yes, Knives should be around, and Wolfwood should be dead, but that wasn't what made the series popular, so MST3K Mantra should be in effect.)

Hey, so there were some rumblings about Trigun coming back recently and even Vash's English VA, Johnny Yong Bosch chimed in about it,
but those are just unsubstantiated rumors. A lot of this kind of stuff doesn't end up legit, right?

...HOLY SHIT!
EDIT: Noticing a lot of people wanting this to be an anime for Trigun Maximum, but the weird thing is that during the time of the OG anime, the OG manga kinda just stopped and the anime had to make up its own plot and ending. Because of this, we kinda had guys like Legato and Wolfwood dying in the OG anime when they're alive and well(?) in Maximum. So this new Trigun might be one of those "start from scratch" remakes a la Fruits Basket?

Trigun Stampede, an "original animation" from 3DCG studio Orange, with new cast and staff. More information at Anime Expo on July 2

, Official website
I'd really like to see it be based more on Maximum, which had a lot of weird, interesting shit the anime didn't, but the fact that it's not named that makes me think it won't be
Don't worry about the 3DCG, Orange is really good with it
x3: Aw, yeeeeeeeah, boy!
Yeah, as someone familiar with the first anime, making this new one a CG anime sounds weird by default, but then I've heard really good things about other projects by Orange like Beastars, so here's hoping the CG here turns out good.
And I snickered because I immediately understood that the anime's subtitle "Stampede", is more than likely a reference to our hero's moniker: Vash the Stampede. Clever, right guys?
I still think we might see a truer to the text adaptation of the OG manga and Maximum because we've been seeing a lot of classic manga getting new animes following that trend (i.e. Fruits Basket and Shaman King), so it'd be strange if this didn't follow suit.
Incidentally, I was under the impression that the first Trigun anime had to make up its own plot and ending because the original manga kinda abruptly ended on three volumes due to the manga it was getting published in ceasing publication in January 1997, ergo causing Maximum to act as a Part 2 when it appeared in October 1997, but then I realize the anime didn't premiere until April 1998, so now I'm just confused.
In any case, we'll just have to learn more about this new anime come July 2 via Anime Expo.
NGL, Vash's new outfit is gonna take some getting used to, especially because I was under the impression that he'd have his usual costume since that's what it looked like he had in that first piece of concept art
◊ we got, but I'm still intrigued enough to let this new take on Trigun speak for itself for now. (Heck, maybe Vash's new ensemble is a beta outfit?)

...Yeah, I can't help but agree with you. But again, everything else looks intriguing, so here's hoping that coat's a beta one.

Ah Tri-Gun. Twenty-six pithy episodes about a man combatting his philosophical opposite and all of the Edgier And Darker in-between.
I think it was the trope page itself that got me to watch this show again (With the description "a series about Badasses fighting Badasses", how could I not?), but it was also because of Trigun's stint on Adult Swim and faint memories of it being on in the middle of the night.
What was Trigun about? A man known as Vash the Stampede, the Human Typhoon. The twenty billion Double-Dollar bounty. Every bounty hunter on the planet of Gunsmoke wants a piece of him (so they can bring it back and collect their money).
Two insurance agents from the Bernadelli Insurance Agency seek counsel with the mysterious Vash the Stampede in order to monitor Vash's activities and minimize the damages caused by him. It begins as a very light-hearted tale as they seek the man worth $$20 Billion Double Dollars... then gradually takes a turn into Darker and Edgier when they discover the reasons why he's wanted for that much money.
The manga, which later became Trigun Maximum', was mildly different from the anime, or so I've heard. I never took the time to read it. I've once heard it described that the manga took place in a more "elaborate world with more defined characters" while the anime was more "thematically endearing". The actual comment was more poetic-sounding, but the gist of it stuck with me. The anime sort of ends on a cliffhanger while the manga fleshes out the background of several characters that the anime did not.
I chose this scene because, as pivotal and spoiler-riffic as it totally is, I think, it's the scene anybody who watched it remembers, and it's probably just vague enough to leave the unwary wanting to know more. I wanted to put the scene where Vash speaks with
Rem first, but the sound quality is terrible.
What made this series so good? The zany protagonist, the balls-off-the-walls gunfights, the alarmingly decent animation from Episode 5 that they never used again for some reason, the stellar soundtrack, and the charmingly unusual philosophical stances taken by the protagonists and antagonist.
Unfortunately (perhaps), it finished awhile ago, which is why I'm comfortable that anyone taking the time to click on this thread won't be bothered by the spoilery links included here. There was a recent anime adaption you've probably heard of called Badlands Rumble (or, dubbed recently, anyway), and a planned video game that never materialized. But it's always fun to look back with nostalgia, no?
Hrh-hrm.
