Trope Pantheons Discussion

Go To

Welcome to the Trope Pantheons thread! Please read the rules:

    Rules
Rules. The following are not suggestions or tips, but things that have to be followed:
  • When writing a profile, take note of the following:
    • The very first thing any contributor should do before working on an idea or a profile is to propose and nominate the idea on the Trope Pantheons discussion thread. In the forums, you must discuss with other users on adding ideas and seek their approval with sound reasoning, a paragraph of reasoning to justify taking a trope should be sufficient. This is done to see if your proposal is the best representative and so, in case your profile is turned down, you do not waste time writing something that others might not find suitable. You can also get some assistance in the forum thread by either asking for help and those interested asking if they can help. Attempting to work on ideas without a nomination and at least one net thumbs-up will not be accepted regardless of how much you have written already. Submissions that are added without discussion are likely to be deleted and those who violate those rules by adding Pantheon content without discussion will get reported to the mods.
    • If you feel the need to remove a character for some reason (poor quality, outdated titles, etcetera) and replace him/her with another or outright rework, please see what the other tropers think about this in the discussion thread before doing anything hasty. For reworks in particular, nominate the idea as you would with new characters or profiles. Use good reasoning to see if your idea can easily replace the character present without drawing out your statement or giving too ambiguous claims most do not understand.
      • In the same vein, if you adopt a profile from another troper, it is recommended that you make an announcement that you have done so on the discussion thread. More often than not, a trope that was reserved for something was given away to someone else. Check the Related tab on the top of a page to see if a trope or character has been reserved by a user, either in the Pantheon or the Sandbox sections.
    • If, for whatever reason, you are writing about a God who just happens to be a person in real life, just try to be very careful about what you decide to say. Do not try to make the editing seem too meta (self-referential) and use the creativity to create hypothetical scenarios towards fictional characters. Some real-life individuals, including content creators (fictional content created by them is still fair-game, but do not bring up the creators themselves in such cases), may be considered disqualified for profiles due to controversies that would make them concern the Rule of Cautious Editing Judgment. To determine where a current creator would be disqualified:
      • Wait for at least a month after the latest significant update for a creator's controversy before any decision can be made. If a confirmation from the questioned creator (or associates) themselves occurs, then wait for a week.
      • Immediate disqualification for either a guilty sentence in a significant court case against the creator, or evidence of consistently repeated, deliberate, and/or intentionally provocative hate speech and advocacy of dehumanizing perspectives, with lesser examples warranting caution instead.
      • For creators with a clear persona of their character disclosed before any scandal, the persona can have a profile with no mentioning of their real-life information. Ambiguous existence of a persona would have to be discussed further hand for anything more decisive.
    • For obvious reasons, gods cannot be followers, high priests, or heralds. The 'gods' have ascended meaning there is no need for said character to be a follower of another if they have ascended.
    • No hype profiles, please. 'Hype Profiles' are profiles that have been made out of ongoing events and have not been around for a long time. This creates 'hype' due to popularity and certain elements either through certain scenes, memes, dramatic acting or considered overly awesome. They are not bad tropes but building a portfolio solely for that is a bad idea, as they do not say a thing about representing the trope best (unless it's those trope concepts that they are trying to embody for a long time)
      • You can see one if the profile is only showing off how awesome they are or suddenly pushing how 'significant' they are thanks to the just very recent events rather than respecting the longstanding good representations of the trope. And usually having... minimum portfolio or flavor texts and being a bit too generalized or self-contained to events from within their home series instead of interacting with other Pantheon members.
  • When posting in the forum, take note of the following:
    • When you suggest a God, please explain why they fit the trope. Not everyone is going to understand just "X should be the God of Y because they exemplify the trope" off the bat, especially if they're unfamiliar with the work.
    • You must use the Trope Pantheons discussion thread in the forums if you wish to add a new deity, story, something else of importance to the Trope Pantheon canon, or reworking an existing deity (be it simply improving their existing profile or changing their title).
      • For new and reworked deities, 3 [tup] means the profile will have a one-week waiting period.
      • For new and reworked deities, 4 [tup] is a 3 day waiting period.
      • 5 [tup] is an automatic ascension for new and reworked deities.
      • Speaking of reworks, for anyone that wants to improve such profiles, they have to review the current trope the character(s) has and see if it still holds up or if there is a better rep for their trope.
    • For adding new Treasures to The Great Treasury or new Dominions to the Dominions Expansion, the following rules apply:
      • For new Treasures or Dominions, 3 [tup] is a 3 day waiting period.
      • 4 [tup] is an automatic addition to the Great Treasury or Dominions.
    • Do not repost a profile in the forums more than twice a day if noticeable changes have not been made in between. If a profile is posted a third time in a row without noticeable alterations, it will be downvoted. This is so spamming of no-effort profiles is less frequent and to prevent tropers from getting aggravated seeing the same profile over and over. The minimum acceptable change has to be one flavor text.
    • The Pantheon is not a mouthpiece for you to voice your opinions on certain characters. You may like certain characters more than others, but do not make the mistake of making profiles for characters you like to look like Character Shilling.
    • Every troper new to the Pantheon is barred from approving or downvoting profiles until they have ascended at least two profiles, this means avoiding the usage of "[tup]" or "[tdown]".
    • Do not include fan reception in any profiles. It has nothing to do with the character themselves and will create unnecessary conflict.
    • Write a detailed explanation on why the character is the best candidate for the deity of that trope. If people disagree with you, do not force it on the people.
    • Keep in mind that if you still want to try to find a trope for a particular character, you are only given three chances to find a particular trope for them. If a suggestion goes past three possible tropes, then it will come off as shoehorning a character into the Pantheon just for the sake of that character to be there.
      • On a related note, even if a character does have a free trope being suggested, there is still a limit of three attempts for suggesting that character for that trope. If no one responds to that certain proposal after being posted three times, then it will get to the point where the idea will be seen as being shoehorned into the Pantheon. In addition, the idea needs to be considered acceptable and approved because they are good, not for the sake of pitying others. After all, no one is responding to their idea.
    • You can also adopt a profile or idea to work on from another contributor by messaging a request to them (preferably through private messages). Even if you get their permission, you still have to announce your adoption to the forum. Note that if the idea wasn't nominated in the first place you still have to properly nominate it.
  • When posting Pantheon related stuff to the wiki, take note of the following:
    • Do not put a link to these Pantheon pages into the main wiki page. The moment you want to note in a trope example that the character is a God of this trope, do not do it. If you see leftovers of this practice, correct the situation by deleting the offending text. This goes for any non-Pantheon page. The only exception to this rule is if a page in the Pantheon could be confused for a page in Main, like Good Colors, Evil Colors and Pantheon.Good And Evil Colors.
    • Do not bring things that would incite fights; hot topics and 'urgent' news are not pertinent to the Pantheon's mission. For example, the political scene and some really bad politicians. We are not here to fight each other, so don't suggest things that go in that direction, this is a fictional Pantheon after all.
    • To add a Pantheon page for a certain work, 4 or more characters coming from the same series/franchise should be ascended before adding the page. For Creator specific pages, 4 deities coming from the same creator and 2 individual work pages coming from the same creator is the minimum to warrant a page.
    • Do not create a trope page for a story until the story is fully completed.
    Instructions and Tips
Here are some tips one should keep in mind when editing:
  • When writing a profile for a character, here are a few things to note:
    • Please refer to Text Formatting Rules when writing a profile, since understanding how to make and edit site pages in general is a necessity for working on profiles or other Pantheon content. Additionally, if you are not experienced with English, refer to this forum page, as proper English spelling and grammar is expected.
    • All deities should be sorted by their divine ranking. Put Overdeities on the top of the page and Quasideities on the bottom. Also, be sure to add them in alphabetical order by their first/given name (can be reversed if it is Eastern ordered). For a group, if there is no official name for them all list down all their names by order of relevance or (if too long to list) title them as Insert Name Here Main Characters or some other identifiable title along the same lines.
    • The maximum number of tropes that a god can have is two, but do not try to abuse that fact. If you need to use a second trope to specify a certain thing about their position, that can be excused either because said character represents their trope choice very well alongside the first trope. It is still generally encouraged to only have one trope.
    • A trope can only belong to one profile at a time. The only time two profiles can share a trope is if there are explicit variations listed in the trope page proper (e.g. Muscle Angst is held by both Biscuit Krueger and Chihiro Fujisaki as the former represents "Too Much Muscle" and the latter represents "Not Enough Muscle")
    • If the character you are about to add to a House already exists in another, make sure to mention that this person has spots in another House as well. Up to 2 places can be made for a deity at most.
    • For a character's theme song, try to avoid calling it "Theme of God X" or "Theme of (Show where God X originates from)". If possible, try to find out if the song has an actual name through research. Most importantly, it has to be part of their series' official soundtracks from the media. Do not list songs that are made by fans or outside sources. If they were not specifically used as music for that specific character, then they do not count. Furthermore, it has to be a general theme specifically made for that characters' appearances, not some generic music that plays for many other instances not related to the character in question.
    • For images, when adding an image for your chosen character, it is highly recommended to use a stylized image that embodies the character or renders that also highlight a character's behavior (such as cool poses). Most images should be from the main adaptations of the character unless the images from the other media are of a higher quality than the adaptation. Unless it is needed, do not use fanart for images. If you are, please attribute it to the original artist. Due to the website's dark mode, removing white backgrounds from an image is paramount. This website is suggested to do the background removal. If an image you have takes up too many bytes, it is suggestible to use this site to reduce the byte size. If the byte is still too big, run the compressed image through other sites (or even the same one) to compress even further. Use wikis to look for better images, as even wikis for the series might not contain good official images.
    • Creativity is your friend. While it is not recommended to get too ditzy at your ideas, it is best that when writing a profile for a certain character, do you think of capable scenarios between X and Y. Tip: do not use shallow examples (X wields a sword and Y wields one too) and try to think of relationships that make sense (i.e those characters that are shout-outs for another).
  • Pantheon Content:
    • Some series or genres will eventually have greater representation in the Pantheon than others. This is unavoidable, but a little diversity helps to make you not look like a shill. Try to ensure that if you add a deity from a popular series, make sure that it is because they are a good representative for the trope in question, and not just because they are connected to another deity in their respective canon.
      • As far as deities from actual mythologies, there is generally an expectation to build the profiles off interactions from fictional portrays rather than basing it entirely from the actual myth. Therefore, a mythological deity should be more of a Composite Character whose main identity is from the actual myth.
    • Occasionally there will be Gods that carry a title without a trope. This is not forbidden, but it is well-advised not to abuse them. The only house where trope-less profiles are wholly allowed is the House of Food. Mainly due to most food items lacking tropes, and adding tropes about said foodstuffs is slightly unnecessary. However, the character being ascended for their choice of food, or food-related thing must be a decently good representative of said item. (i.e their Trademark Favorite Food, or something that they are closely associated with In-Universe, or both).
    • For Dominions and Treasures profiles, always consider what made those places/objects popular in the first place. Were they plot-important, identifiable imagery or have a unique aspect of it? Do not just bring regular objects under the basis of following a certain canon.
    • Do not write in self-promotion or blatant advertising. Minor references to something are fine but writing that clearly intends to advertise something will not be given toleration.
  • For Profile Standards:
    • Flavor text is used to describe certain things about a character, place, or object. To avoid short ones, it is recommended to write flavor text with 4-7 sentences that can fill around 2 lines each. Be warned that adding too many sentences does not equal good flavor text as it is not an essay of sorts (unless words are substantial and do add to the overall line).
    • Character Profiles of a certain person should have the following:
      • A portfolio that contains at least 7 (at the minimum) tropes describing their character.
      • Flavor text count for a deity profile should have by minimum, 10 (depending on if the character in question has enough relationships/characterization) to 15 with a maximum of 20-25 for an individual profile.
      • On the other hand, group profiles (profiles of a group that has 4 or more members) have their maximum flavor text count to 15 minimum, giving individual lines for the other members of the group (unless the members are not as characterized) up to 30 at max.
    • Dominion profiles of a certain place should have the following:
      • A portfolio that contains at least 5 (at the minimum) tropes describing the context of the place.
      • Flavor text count should range at least 10 to 15.
    • Treasure profiles (inanimate objects without a trope) should have the following:
      • A portfolio that contains at least 6 (at the minimum) tropes that describes the object itself.
      • Flavor text count should be at least 7 flavor text up to 12 to constitute a treasure profile.
    Divine Ranking System
  • Overdeity: Omnipotent-level Reality Warper deities capable of manipulating the entire universe (or at least the world) at will. Within their own universe they are believed to be omnipotent, or at least impossible-to-completely-destroy embodiments or concepts.
  • Greater Gods: High-level Reality Warper deities that are extremely powerful (capable of destroying or changing anywhere from a large city to a planet at will) and very strong non-reality warpers capable of doing the same thing.
  • Intermediate Gods: Deities at this level are capable of strong but specialized powers such as hydrokinesis, pyrokinesis, etc. without major drawbacks and low-level Reality Warper beings capable of affecting their immediate area at will.
  • Lesser Gods: Capable of highly specific or little power on their own, or suffer from Power at a Price. However, they may be able to ruthlessly exploit their power or combine it with just being badass enough to make up for it.
  • Demigods: Badass Normal citizens of the pantheon, making up for their lower status with strength, strategy, and/or planning.
  • Quasideities: Any otherwise normal human, human equivalent, or below without any special powers or training will fall here.
    Templates
Template for adding a new deity: God X, God/Goddess/Deity of (Insert Trope Here) (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)
  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Rank: This can range from Quasideity, Demigod, Lesser God, Intermediate God, Greater God, to Overdeity, based on the representation of power mentioned above.
  • Symbol: An image or icon used to represent the deity.
  • Theme Song: Official song (in other words, no fan music, regardless of quality) that usually is used in affiliation with the character. If the deity is a musician this will most likely be their Signature Song. If possible, give a link for reference, preferably on either a website like Soundcloud or YouTube.
  • Alignment: Good, evil, neutral, etc. Forget about The Great Character Alignment Debate here; the Pantheon is one of the few places where you can assign Dungeons & Dragons alignments to characters that don't have an alignment system. After all, the Pantheon is based on D&D and is made for fun.
  • For Pokémon deities only:
    • Gender: Defines the gender of the Pokémon; if genderless, it instead defines what gender they identify as.
    • Ability: Provides the Pokémon's ability. If they can Mega Evolve, the new ability is listed as well.
    • Moves: Defines the four moves used by a Pokémon. A Z-Move may also be listed.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the character.
  • Domains: Things that the character has influence over.
  • Herald: Non-ascended loyal character that is from the same series as the ascended character.
  • High Priest: Non-ascended like heralds, but not from the same series, and can serve as a worthy replacement in case the deity would be unavailable, incapacitated, dead, or otherwise incapable of carrying out their duties. They can be served as part-time workers in case the originals are busy with some jobs. Co-Godhood is accepted depending on the approval of the originals, usually if the co-deity is from the same series.
  • Followers: Non-ascended characters that are not part of the Pantheon, but would probably worship this character by the fact that they share the ascended character's trope.
  • Relationships between ascended characters go here with your chosen character, it goes something like this:
    • Allies: Members of the Pantheon that are allies, those that share the same values as them and would theoretically be friends with them.

    • Rivals: Members of the Pantheon that are rivals, people who may look at your character with suspicion or a challenge.
    • Enemies: Members of the Pantheon that are foes, those who would see your chosen character as a threat, either from their perspective or yours.
    • Additional Character Relationships: Members of the Pantheon that do not fit in various relationships (examples include Enemy Mine, Vitriolic Best Buds, Teeth-Clenched Teamwork, Headbutting Heroes, Friendly Enemy, Friendly Rival, Just Friends, etc.), allies, rivals, or enemies.
    • Partner: Defines a partnership with an ascended deity and Mon-type. (if any)
    • Feared by/Fears: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon notably fear or are feared by.
    • Respected by/Respects: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon respect or are respected by.
    • Opposed by/Opposes: Not necessarily the same as "Enemies", but this is used for any deity whom the members of the Pantheon directly oppose or are opposed by (basically the opposite of "Respects", "On Good Terms With", and/or "Commonality Connection") in terms of certain viewpoints, regardless of alignment.
    • Pitied by/Pities: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon feel pity for or are found pitiable by.
    • Conflicting Opinion: Sometimes, the Deities argue over specific themes and philosophies.
      • OPTIONAL NOTE FOR CHARACTER RELATIONSHIPS: Should the list for Character relationships (IE. Allies, Enemies, etc.) become too big, categorize a certain number of characters to a specific group putting them on a sublist (One example: Luigi is from the same world as his brother Mario, hence Luigi should be fall under the Super Mario Bros sublist.)
  • Add the Intro. The intro is made up of two trivia, the Ascension Text (or just the Ascension) and The Bio. Both are necessary, but which order you use for them may vary depending on the profile in question. It may be better for one profile to have The Bio first and the Ascension second or vice-versa, although for the most part, the order is irrelevant:
    • The Ascension Text: This is the story of how the character got into the Pantheon and/or was ascended. There are many ways for this to happen. They may be tricked into it or have simply wandered into the Pantheon, they may have had an already ascended character bring them in, they may already be in the Pantheon (via being another deity's Herald or sharing a trope) and got "promoted", or some combination of the above. Anything is possible in the Pantheon, so use your imagination, but try to incorporate their trope into the story, if possible.
    • The Bio: A brief synopsis of the character's backstory. No need for the character's entire life/production history, but just give enough that those who don't know the character can get an idea of how the character works.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Deities/Characters is 10-15 (15-20 for group profiles) at minimum to 20-25 (30 for group profiles) at maximum.
Template for Dominions profiles: Place X, Place of (Insert Trope Here) (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)
  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Theme Song (Optional): Not important as compared to Deity and Dominion profiles but a notable mention if there is an accompanying song in use with the object.
  • Alignment: Refers to the dominion's role in their story, be it those used by villains or used by the Player Character.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the dominion.
  • Domains: Things that the place has links to.
  • Relationships (Optional): Unless the location has a connection with a specific deity, relationships are optional and may not be required. However, if there are deities linked to the same series as to where the dominion is linked to, note them using the relationships, this includes deities that theoretically have interest with said dominion, good or evil otherwise.
  • Add the Intro. Here the introduction of the Dominion is added with some tidbits regarding the origins of its' creation and usage in the story. You can also add what made it popular/iconic/important here.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Dominions is 10 at minimum to 15 at maximum.
Template for Treasure profiles: The name of the item in here (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)
  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Appearance: A shortened description of the item's looks with some notable features also mentioned.
  • Class: Refer to the Treasure Classification System in the Great Treasury.
  • Alignment: Refers to the objects' role in their story, be it those used by villains or used by the Player Character.
  • Theme Song (Optional): Not important as compared to Deity and Dominion profiles but a notable mention if there is an accompanying song in use with the object.
  • Museum Check: A note that says whether the item is viewable by the public.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the item.
  • Domains: Things that the item has links to.
  • Relationships (Optional): Unless the item has a connection with a specific deity, relationships are optional and may not be required. However, if there are deities linked to the same series as to where the item is linked to (especially the original owner of the item), note them using the relationships, this includes deities that theoretically have interest with said object, good or evil otherwise.
  • Add the Intro. Here the introduction of the Treasure is added with some tidbits regarding the origins of its' creation and usage in the story. You can also add what made it popular/iconic/important here.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Treasures is 7 at minimum to 12 at maximum.

Re: Solomon

I admit I don't know... Well basically anything about Solomon, but how the living hell is a Demigod who's own profile states that he has no special powers aside from being a good swordsman kicking around a Greater God in Belos, and feared by Intermediate Goddesses? For Belos in particular, who, when properly "fed" with either Palisman Essence or Life Force, can come back from just a small drop of necrotic sludge, how the hell would Solomon do more than get on his nerves? (Yes, he was killed by being stomped on... But only after his entire body was disintegrated by Boiling Rain which continued falling on what little was left so there wasn't anything left for him to come back from) Again, I'm not familiar with Solomon but from my perspective, that seems like some extreme over exaggerating. Also there's no way that Luz and Amity fear him since they're more than capable of handling someone who's merely a highly skilled Human.

On a non-critique route, The Goblin Slayer is also a normal Human warrior who has devoted his life to exterminating an inherent evil in the Goblins of his world, and would probably be in good graces with Solomon for their similar actions.

First draft of Barbatos's rework. What should I start with to spruce Barbatos up? Who else has experience with similar adversaries?

The Anti-Monitor, Unholy Harbinger of Cosmic Retcons (The Monitor (as he refers to himself), Monty, Marshmallow Man, Guardian of Fear, The Anti-God, The Great Destroyer. Original name: Mobius)

Mobius
Click here for his Arrowverse incarnation
  • Note: Rework
  • Hall: Continuities (House of Media and Connectivity)
  • Overdeity
  • Symbol: Either a wave of white anti-matter, or red skies with lightning
  • Theme Song: Seeing the Anti-Monitor/Credits
  • Alignment: Neutral Evil
  • Portfolio: Total Destruction, Ruler of the Antimatter Universe, Eldritch Abomination, Spacetime Eater, Inciting Total Crossovers And Total Opposition, Multiversal Conqueror Red Skies Crossover, Too Powerful to Live, Introduced For The Crisis, Antimatter, Eviler than Thou, Herald of the Dark Age of Comics, Usually Completely Evil, Evil Twin, Multiple-Choice Past by way of Retcon
  • Domains: Annihilation, Anti-Matter, Apocalypse, The Multiverse, Crossovers, Mass Retcons
  • Heralds: The Thunderers of Qward, the Shadow Demons
  • Special relationship with: Perpetua (his mother)
  • Additional relationship with: Alpheus/the World Forger (his other brother), Krona
  • Interested in: The Time Eater
  • Allies: Hank Henshaw/Cyborg Superman, Randall Ross...that's about it. Even then, only for the time being
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork with: The Grand United Alliance of Destruction, albeit under a number of provisions (bordering Enemy Mine), such as Sutekh the Destroyer and Apophis. Also, surprisingly enough the Celestials (in the sense of a temporary alliance)
  • Rivals: Darkseid, Nekron, The Batman Who Laughs, Lord English, The Devourer, Singularity, Melkor, Alduin, Unicron, Amatsu-Mikaboshi/Chaos King, Hajun, The Daleks and Davros, Nicol Bolas, Lord Vortech, Galeem and Dharkon, Angra Mainyu, Solaris (Sonic the Hedgehog)
  • Arch-Enemy: Mar Novu/The Monitor (his brother and/or positive matter counterpart)
  • Enemies: Literally everyone else, but of note?
  • If there is anyone who can seriously overshadow Darkseid's threat to the DC multiverse, and has been able to cause consistent problems, the first being you'd go to look for is the Anti-Monitor. Originally known as Mobius, he is a cataclysmic entity from the Antimatter Universe who easily conquered the realm and now has one simple, but grandiose goal; kill everything else. Initially this was met by discovering his opposite, the Monitor, who they were pretty equally tied with and both were knocked out for billions of years. But a scientist called Pariah tried to look at the dawn of time and that woke him up, letting him to destroy his universe and convert its energies into his own. And the less positive matter universes, the more of an edge he has on his rival. So through a wave of antimatter he went across the multiverse, ushering in unthinkable destruction until only a handful of realities remained. The Monitor had also woken up and was prepared to fight him by gathering heroes and villains against a threat so dire the aforementioned Darkseid decided to help the heroes. And this led to Crisis on Infinite Earths. Worlds lived, worlds died, and nothing was ever the same again.
    • The events of Crisis ushered the first massive reboot, or Cosmic Retcon as it's known, of DC Comics. The Anti-Monitor had gone back to before time to rewrite everything in his favor, only to be faced with basically every superhero and a very angry Spectre. Reality realigned itself into a single universe, but he wasn't done and an arduous battle to protect what was left, ending in the original Earth-2 Superman punching out his screaming, barely alive form following one Rasputinian Death. After the timeline settled, he remained dead until after his corpse was used as part of another reality-shattering scheme, resurrecting him in a weaker but VERY powerful state following the return of the multiverse, becoming a key figure in the Sinestro Corps War. One of the old timeline's survivors, Superboy-Prime, was waiting for the right opportunity to see him weak and off him. The Anti-Monitor's crippled new state was found and caught by Nekron to serve as his battery for the upcoming Blackest Night. Part of Nekron's defeat involved unfortunately reviving the Anti-Monitor, who was sent back. But he was still out there, deciding to plan some more stuff out with the Life Entity.
    • Another big reboot shifted his status quo again, and hardly the only one. He had a big beef with Darkseid which he won, though was eventually killed, and his brain was going to be used as part of Barbatos' plan to wipe the Light Multiverse out. The Anti-Monitor would return again, and he would come back to initially oppose but eventually side with Perpetua. He even got his own Dark Multiverse world where he won in the original Crisis, and his current status is up for question as last anyone recalls Darkseid was holding him after he became a baby. The Anti-Monitor's origins have been liable to change over the decades. Initially, he and the Monitor, along with the multiverse and Antimatter Universe, are anamlous consequences of Krona observing the beginning of time. Final Crisis implies he and the Monitor used to be one entity, a probe from the Overmonitor meant to observe the reality growing within it that split into two beings. Later on, it's stated the Mobius Chair Metron wields originally belongs to him, and he was cursed from discovering the Anti-Life Equation when looking into the origins of the Antimatter Universe. Currently, he is recognized as a triumvirate with Alpheus the World Forger, in charge of the Dark Multiverse, and his old adversary and brother Mar Novu/the Monitor. The tl;dr is his original job was to act as a Destroyer Deity to stop the destructive energies of the greater Omniverse affecting creation, but after the Monitor convinced them to rat out their mother Perpetua to the Source the Source Wall basically acted as the barrier to those energies he was supposed to be. Stuck with the desolate Antimatter Universe, he swore to make his brother pay for this, and time and again he would make good on his promise.
  • The Anti-Monitor has been a fixture of the Trope Pantheon since it's early days. He didn't so much "ascend" as he made his presence known with a wave of antimatter tearing through expendable alternate universes and obliterating an unthinkable number of lives, all in the hopes of seeking more power. His invasion brought with it the very first Enemy Mine of the Grand United Alliance of Good and Grand United Alliance of Evil. For a while, he was seen as the pantheon's Satan, the figure who could unite good and evil even if merely for the sake survival. Like Darkseid he remembers the changes and alterations to the pantheon. He even recalls briefly trying to "poison the well" by exploiting poor writing tropes and disliked characters...he's glad that's in the Retconnian. Nowadays the Trope Pantheon is a lot more complex so he isn't as feared or hated a figure. The latter is probably something more fitting of Zamasu, actually; compared to the largely impersonal Multiversal Conqueror the Kaioshin's significantly more opinionated, not that Mobius will bother to pay attention to his hypocrisy or moralizing. However, Mobius is still one of the most formiddable threats in the Trope Pantheon, and he's not going anywhere.
  • How he grew out of his current status as a baby isn't clear, and probably isn't that important. The Anti-Monitor has been dubbed as The Unholy Harbinger of Cosmic Retcons for causing one of fiction's most famous mass reboots. His goal remains the annihilation of all positive matter so only he and his Antimatter Universe can be supreme. His base of operations is on Qward, where he is worshipped as a deity. Despite his destructive goals he is considered Neutral Evil rather than Chaotic Evil as there is considerable more of a solipstic and self-aggrandizing bent to his omnicidal mania, along with his tendency to reward or punish his followers depending on if they serve him well or disobey orders. Mobius observes the pantheon mostly dispassionately, though some beings he admits are comparable...and maybe there are some more of a threat than him. The amount of deities in DC Comics that promote something even resembling an emotional response for him can be counted with fingers. But those who have an emotional response to him? Oh, that's a lot of people.
    • Calling him a Hero Killer is a bit of an understatement with the guy. Anywhere from 3000 to infinity minus five universes were wiped out by him. Two of his famous casualties, the original version of Supergirl, and Barry Allen, are worth mentioning. Kara friggin wailed on him and forced him to retreat even if he killed her, and Barry famously burnt himself out stopping his cannon destroying the remaining positive universes at the time. If there's any group he has memorable beef with, it's probably the Green Lantern Corps, who's Guardians he prioritized as a threat. Given he was initially an indirect result of Krona, it's not that surprising. The Spectre has mused that he has more blood on his hands than anyone he has ever faced, which is saying a lot, and he plans to put the Anti-Monitor into a coffin that'll stick this time. One of the only figures from the regular universe he had working for him (though it's more accurate to say he strong-armed him) was the Psycho-Pirate, who remembers and is not at all happy at his presence.
    • His greatest enemy will always be his opposite, the Monitor. He is not surprised his brother would make it to the pantheon, and his desire to wipe everything else out is in part an extension of their beef. He's more quiet on what he feels about Alpheus; there is a very Cain and Abel and Seth dynamic going on. On their mother, he did end up begrudgingly side with her and she regards him as her favorite child, but Mobius is largely doing his own thing. If capable of such a thing, it's rumored he's embarassed at how some Batman from the Dark Multiverse managed to usurp her. Speaking of the Darkest Knight, though they are both sadistic conquerors who leave a trail of universes dead at their feat, the Anti-Monitor very rarely finds someone he'd bother to talk to and his ambitions are driven by basic, selfish desires. That Batman Who Laughs doesn't just want to watch the multiverse burn, but be really chatty about it. He thinks that if Mobius wants to prove he's still this ultimate villain, he can Bring It.
    • Though a larger threat than Darkseid in his first appearance, the Lord of Apokolips played a large part in his defeat. Killing him in Darkseid War was definitely not easy for him. Though Darkseid isn't above wanting to wipe everything out, especially if mortally injured, he prefers to dominate first and destroy later. Mobius has mentioned he intends to get his chair back from Metron, and make sure Apokolips will not be cloaked from him the next time he tries to destroy the multiverse. Interestingly despite their similar goals he isn't on good terms with Nekron. While part of it is that Nekron might at least want a reality for the darkness to rule, if one depleted of all life, it's mainly that Mobius is infuriated at how he was used as his Central Power Battery. The Anti-Monitor and Nekron have their own vision for an empty cosmos and they're ready to duke it out again.
  • In theory, he is a Multiversal Singularity, much like the rest of his family, or Darkseid. However it is muddled because there have been alternate takes on the Anti-Monitor in other media, and in the comics he's had his backstory changed a number of times. Sometimes he's in his more recognizable armored/ghastly energy being form due to having possessed the Anti-Life Equation, though to the surprise of the Hall of Tyrannical Figures he has only used it offensively. It's possible like Darkseid he (and his other family members when they're distinct) use avatars/lower-lever avatars, maybe it implies multiple multiverses with their own rules, or its just the consequence of an Alternate Continuity. Here are a few notable variants.
    • While his original origin depicts him and the Monitor as consequences of the multiverse's creation due to Krona's meddling, Green Lantern: The Animated Series has him directly created as an ultimate machine by Krona. It...didn't end up as planned. Here he sees machines as superior to organic life, though is no less omnicidal. While he and Singularity are naturally rivals as they seek to turn existence into one universe where they reign unopposed, being an A.I in this continuity intensifies the rivalry.
    • In the original multiversal set-up of the Arrowverse, the Monitor used to be mortal and sought the secrets of the universe's origin, akin to Pariah or Krona. The same time travel accident that suffused Mar Novu and his protective suit with cosmic energy allowed the Antimatter Universe to manifest an avatar and vessel using his shape in the Anti-Monitor. While he covered similar beats, his fate was different; rather than dying, his final fate was being shrinked down and trapped in the Microverse, after time travel before he could go on his reality-consuming rampage could really get underwar. He is continually shrinking and stuck in this state. Ant Man intends to make sure it stays that way.
    • During the Crisis in the Tomorrowverse, the Anti-Monitor showed up with a rather different role; a shadowy entity that served as a sort of antibody that was removing the additional realities, which were ultimately dangerous to the health of reality as a whole. This is probably the closest to a "good" Anti-Monitor that exists. Well, that, and the one from Tiny Titans who tries to stop his counterpart being the hall monitor. Don't expect this version to ever show up in the House of School, though.
  • Galactus notices he shares traits with the Anti-Monitor. Both are cosmic-level beings who've devoured the lives of countless trillions. However, the Anti-Monitor is more of an Evil Counterpart since Galactus is only trying to sustain himself and functions as a form of universal balance. He'd regard the Anti-Monitor more like the Black Winter or the Hunger, a blatantly malevolent being who does it for selfish reasons. Of course Mobius is no mere Planet Eater, but a Spacetime Eater and it's rare whenever they fight Galactus isn't forced to run. The Anti-Monitor desires to destroy and consume the energies of Eternity, but he knows he risks bringing the attention of the Living Tribunal. The Anti-God doesn't feel confident fighting him directly until at least he has reached power levels from the first Crisis. Even then, he would rather exploit the weakness that all three heads need to agree on something to act properly. He might rarely have to rely on his intelligence to win battles, but he's far from stupid and has used unconventional methods like mass Emotion Control before.
  • If he succeeds at destroy the DC Multiverse, he would probably consider his next targets the other superhero multiverses. This has already been alluded to regarding his plan to eliminate the Living Tribunal. Other major players are going to get it to if he gets what he wants, like the Celestials. The Anti-Monitor has listed a priority list of major players to focus his reign of destruction on, some of which he believes he may need to personally interfere; his most intelligent and ingenuitive Thunder Warriors and Qwardian natives have been promoted to major intelligence gatherers. Usually, the focus is on the top gods of different pantheons. A couple deities he wishes to deal with personally are Primus and Ahura Mazda, as their dynamic with Unicron and Angra Mainyu are similar to his own dynamic with the Monitor. While he sees their opposites of rivals, Mobius doesn't feel an iota of respect for Ahriman as his own evil has blinded him and dooms him to fail despite being equal to his rival. In contrast, while ultimately defeated the Anti-Monitor took out the Monitor during the first Crisis.
  • Over time Melkor has come to see him more as a rival, given his end goal isn't too different. The Anti-Monitor admits that to be the case, but he sees him for a grandscale Psychopathic Manchild he is, deep down. He'll refer to him as Morgoth clinically, though if one didn't know better one might mistake it as subdued mockery. Of the GUA leaders the reason he prioritizes Cosmos, outside of gathering the kind of people who have the best track record in getting in the way of his goals, is because when he first invaded there was no order for Law or Chaos. Despite the reorganization of those orders he still recognizes YHVH and Lucifer as high priority targets to eliminate. Nekron's position as the head of the GUAD is the main reason why the Anti-Monitor is not allied, or at least headbutting villains with them. Oh sure, in practices they are quite useful for his goals, so long as they do not bother the Antimatter Universe. Basically, his outlook is that they're doing his job for him.
  • As much as there is beef between Nekron and the Anti-Monitor, well as much as such impersonal entities can have beef, Mobius has begrudgingly agree to aid the GUAD to some extent. This is only because he can't just virtually out-muscle everyone like he did in the original Crisis, even if it's extremely rare he comes close to needing outside help. Again, his power usually does the talking but he is no Dumb Muscle. A similar observation was taken by Sutekh, who would normally not want or need for some willing agent, even if they want to be wiped out too, so they have begrudgingly agreed to side with one another. Apophis feels the same, citing his eternal rivalry with Ra and while he prefers the Lord of the Unliving he can work alongside the Anti-Monitor. Though he rules through fear and intimidation the Anti-Monitor is at least willing to reward his servants for doing a good job or fufill promises so long as they align with his interests. From a mortal perspective this arrangement is seen as kind of awkward.
  • Desiring for his realm to be the only one that exists still is not as solipstically omnicidal as some deities, though with how he rules being in that universe under his thumb can't be called pleasant. Unicron and Hajun seek to be the solitary being in creation, as if the existence of anything else is an act of utter temerity. As mentioned, seeing Mobius and Mar Novu's dynamic he sees some of himself in Unicron. Despite not looking like it Mobius holds a sadistic streak to equal Unicron, as part of him missed being able to destroy people up and personal. The Great Destroyer is often fighting other multiversal apocalyptic beings who have some mix of wanting to rule and/or destroy the multiverse in their own ways, like Lord Vortech and Nicol Bolas, and those like the Devourer who want to rewrite reality and the timeline to their favor. These fights usually result in massive, interstellar minimum casualties. If there's anything good that can be said about these omnicidal Overdeities duking it out, it's that seeing each other as rivals rather than forming a Villain Team-Up may be all that stands between them and true victory over the forces of good.
  • The Antimatter Universe is a realm where not only are good and evil flipped, but so is the Theory of Narrative Causality. Vice is celebrated, virtue condoned and the good guys winning is as rare there as the villains being victorious in the main universe. It is home to one incarnations of the Crime Syndicate of America (the "c" is "k" there). They're wisely avoiding the Anti-Monitor, who's more focused on his multiversal war than to enforce total dominance over the Antimatter Earth. He's definitely despised by them as he's responsible for two incarnations of the Earth-3 universe (Earth-Three and Earth 3 to be specific) being destroyed or otherwise devestated, and has caused Ultraman's death twice. Special methods of transport are needed to enter his domain without exploding on contact with antimatter, and unlike the regular universe space is breathable. The GUAG has attempted to undermine him on his home turf, however these rules mean he usually wins because of them 9000 times out 10,000. The other 999 is because he's just built different. On his end, Mobius regards it as a desolate wasteland overall, but it is still his domain and he is fine with it being the last universe standing.
  • The armor he wears is meant to protect him from clear matter attacks. He's a being of Antimatter, so he's comparitively vulnerable if you get past that armor. "Comparitively" is important; he is still one of the most powerful beings in the DC multiverse and even before he had recovered from his first resurrection it took a galaxy-level explosion among other things to cushion him up for Superboy-Prime's kill. The Time Lord known as Omega found himself stuck in an antimatter universe after apparently dying, where he decayed to the point his own will was all that was sustaining him and his actual body had disintegrated. Needless to say, he is not happy about the Anti-Monitor. The Anti-Monitor doesn't underestimate the Time Lords, musing the cataclysm of the Last Great Time War is comparable to the first Crisis he ushered. With their similarly omnicidal goals, he doesn't take the combined might of the Dalek Empire or their creator lightly. Speaking of Davros, he intends to render his universe inaccessible to the Reality Bomb, believing it may allow him to "do my job for me". The Daleks have a similar mindset of wanting to eliminating everything different, though this is from an inborn bigotry and exaggerated fascism. The Anti-Monitor just wants to be top dog and is closer to a Hates Everyone Equally approach.
  • Seeks to enslave and/or consume the Creation Trio in hopes of mastering time and space, to once again go back and try to subvert Creation itself. Of the trio, it is Giratina who detests the Anti-Monitor the most. As a benevolent god of Antimatter, it sees Monty as the complete perversion of itself and the balance it sees, declaring his Anti-Matter Universe "an abomination". Since the Distortion World is also based off anti-matter the Anti-Monitor can't attack it with his wave of anti-matter strategy, but he can just out-muscle the Renegade Pokemon unless it's a bad day for him. A desire to rewrite history so only the Antimatter Universe exists ties into one of his only actual allies, and yes he does have some. For one, he will help Hank Henshaw find death given it aligns with his interests. One of his only other allies is Randall Ross, due to his abuse of time travel and desire to destroy all time for petty reasons, not even considering if he'd also be destroyed from doing so. This has led to a curious opposition to Stewie Griffin, of all people; since he created his universe as part of a Stable Time Loop, the Anti-Monitor sees it as relaxingly easy as ensuring he wasn't born to collapse his universe to timelessness. Again, if you didn't know him better you'd think this was a his idea of a joke in its simplicity.
  • One of the Anti-Monitor's only allies is the being who impersonated Oberon, the Abyssal Worm and lord of Bottomless Pits, Oberon Vortigen. Vortigern may be an embodiment created by the planet like Dark Gaia and Gohma Vlitra, but his ambitions in his Oberon side and Vortigern side goes beyond what he was made for. He does not care if the entirety of existence is wiped by Antimatter as long as it achieves what he desires, and he even gave him a gift of Void's Dust for Valentines Day...these customs aren't something Mobius fathomed, but he saw in him someone with the kind of power that's attractive to him and motivations that concide with his own. They're not friends by any sense of the word, but it's still surprising he got along with the Anti-God. The most surprising was that he and the Monitor were actually able to converse and work with the Celestials. Noting they are similar but not the same kind of being to their mother, they forged an alliance in order to keep Perpetua in check. Note that unlike with Obern Mobius only intends to keep his end of the bargain as long as a way to check Perpetua. He is still seen as her favorite son, though, as she can at least convince her to help her (albeit with the implication that More than Mind Control is in effect, and his beef with his brother).
  • Has had a harder time trying to oust his rival Solaris, since while he take the being out in one era Solaris exists across time, at least after being freed from the limbo of White Space to the pantheonic reality. Perhaps, he thinks, he will try to use the mad god's powers for his own end. Rethinking the events of the original Crisis, Mobius is weighing his options in a new grand plan; go back to the start of the Trope Pantheon's existence and just wipe out everyone there before more deities who can seriously challenge him ascend. It might also remove access to beings who's power he would like to harness, like the star creation of Aurelion Sol as a smaller example, or fittingly for him the Time Eater, but he supposes the end results will make it worth it. Though not one of their main enemies, he is seen as one of the biggest threats to the Elite Time Patrol Agency. Due to his attempt to change the dawn of time and rampage Zamasu has labeled him as one of the worst cases of abusing time travel. If the Anti-Monitor wasn't so impersonal he would probably point out the blatant hypocrisy coming out of Zamasu's mouth.
  • Having been around as long in the pantheon as he has and possessing a Ripple-Effect-Proof Memory, the Anti-Monitor is also aware of the original Holy Trinity set up way back and regards them as important targets still. One of his most ambitious goals is to capture Wikipe-tan and Trope-tan and use them via torture and experimentation to unravel the very metafictional bonds and ties of the pantheon, and TV Tropes itself. It is worth noting that while he saw it as merely another universe to consume, he destroyed the universe Earth-Prime that Superboy-Prime was a survivor, the universe meant to represent Real Life...yep. The absurdity of the idea is something Linkara himself has poked fun of...though given he's dealt with other supposedly fictional threats, like Missingno , maybe he shouldn't be so snarky about it. Lord Vyce certainly isn't; he considers the Anti-Monitor "the Entity on steroids". What he did to Earth-Prime made Lord English laugh, being reminded of killing Andrew Hussie. Mobius has been trying to gather not just more power, but also an even deeper undestanding of time, in order to face off against him.
    • Linkara: —> "Yeah, that wave of anti-matter that destroyed the universe was a pain in the ass to clean up the next day, let me tell you."
  • "No hope. No mercy. The universe you knew is nothing but a memory and I have no intention of leaving anyone alive to honor it."

  • The DC multiverse was made as a triumvirate of three forms of matter; the base of the "Light" Multiverse being matter, a destructive Animatter Universe and then there is the dark matter-based Dark Multiverse. A reactive place that responds to the nightmares and fears of the Light Multiverse, these terrors manifest into timelines where the worst case scenarios happen. Alpheus the World Forger casts the unstable worlds doomed to fall apart here, where his bat-like dragon Barbatos would orderly dispose of them. This worked for a time, but in her prison in the Source Wall Perpetua, disgraced Mother of the Multiverse, was able to whisper to his deepest thoughts and encouraged his ambition. Barbatos sought not to simply be a destroyer but a conqueror, going on to slay his maker and make the Dark Multiverse his domain. The worst case scenarios were allowed to play out, and one figure above in particular interested him; Bruce Wayne/Batman. He forged an alliance of the Dark Knights, versions of Batman based off what he fears he may be, with the ringleader being The Batman Who Laughs, a Batman who became worse than the Joker. The Dark Multiverse would not be enough for him; Barbatos would seek the Light Multiverse above.
    • Barbatos had influence in Gotham for centuries, tied to ancient conspiracies like the Court of Owls. He would boast he had aided in making Batman this larger than life figure, so as to use his nightmares and influence for himself; "the true father of Batman", he would put himself. Barbatos and the Darkest Knights burst into the main multiverse, every intention of tearing it apart and dragging it into an abyss where all endings end in tears. It was one hell of a fight against the monster and the Alliance of Alternates at his disposal, however Barbatos underestimated and could never really understand the persistence of heroism. Beings of dark matter are weak to Nth Metal, and especially Tenth Metal. Though it resulted in serious damage to the Source Wall, he was bested and chained never to cause harm again. However his finest soldier, The Batman Who Laughs, survived and became an independent menace that ended up ''exceeding'' the threat Barbatos posed, even fighting and slaying Perpetua herself before he would be defeated by Wonder Woman overflowing with energy.
    • Surprisingly the Dark Multiverse has its own scenario where the nightmare he wished for is manifested..figure that one out. There, the Tenth Metal corrupted the heroes, allowing him to win and warp them into his monstrosities. 52 universes now consumed in horror, and the only unchained survivor being Duke Thomas. Ironically, this is the only timeline in the Dark Multiverse with an ending that doesn't end in tears. This is because Duke Thomas managed to narrowly triumph against him and free Batman from the nightmare monstrosity he was transformed into, becoming a hero of the Dark Multiverse. But not before confronting Tempus Fuginaut for merely watching.
  • It seemed that Barbatos would languish forever in his shackles. His creator would return, revived in the realm of the Sixth Dimension, and the last of the Darkest Knights saw him as but a stepping stone. But in the deepest depths of the Dark Multiverse, an evil hope came in the forces of the Grand United Alliance of Evil by way of Melkor. Eons ago, Melkor turned against his own maker as he sought to create, seeking the Flame Imperishable. And when he could not obtain true independence, he resigned himself to corrupt and defile His creation. It's a familiar story to anyone who knows religion, and it might be why he has struck such an accord with Barbatos. He was pleased that the dark god would rather call him Morgoth. Batman was naturally very concerned about this, especially when Barbatos managed to bring THE DARK MULTIVERSE into the Trope Pantheon. In turn it has even birthed its own nightmare worlds based off the fears of major figures in the Trope Pantheon. Of course, there were some notable figures in the DC Multiverse worth mentioning.
    • Seeing as how his thoughts of rebellion were incited by Perpetua, one might consider him an ally. However their pantheonic dynamic is strained for a few reasons; Perpetua is salty that the Batman Who Laughs is in large part his responsibility, she never bothered to break him out of his chains to recruit him, and he prefers to do his own thing. That said, they begrudgingly agree to work together to deal with shared enemies, particularly one of her sons and Barbatos' creator, who does not intend him to run rampant a second time. While Barbatos is impressed by his old second in command and The Batman Who Laughs enjoyed serving under him, the mad Bruce Wayne would rather strike out on his own and Barbatos is frustrated that he has basically abandoned him. Basically he told him "I like what you're doing, but don't you DARE undermine me again or I'll show you your nightmares". TBWL only grinned more, replying "see that's the line of thinking that almost makes me wish I was still working under you!"
    • He has pointed to the heroes of DC that though he is a proactive villain, their failures in the Light Multiverse dreamt up the nightmares he recruited and helped forge his army. Superman promptly punched him in the face and left him to his chains, but the Grand United Alliance of Good fears there may be some truth in that, given the nature of the Dark Multiverse and further commentary by him on how the Forever War of the Trope Pantheon is fertile ground for nightmares to bear their rotten fruit in his dimension. Barbatos has boasted that he is the one who elevated Batman into the Memetic Badass he's known as, orchestrating a man who would otherwise be "plain" and being in the shadows since his first case. The veracity of this is debatable, obviously, but he's at least right about one thing; whole galaxies of worlds spawned in the Dark Multiverse from his fears.
    • Was initially believed to be a monstrous "pet" of Darkseid who, during the events of Final Crisis, sent a "hyper-adaptor" back in time to follow Batman when he was also sent back in time after mortally wounding him, all part of a final Taking You with Me ploy for the multiverse. The discrepancy with this hasn't been explained yet. It's also not clear how he apparently has a version in the Dark Multiverse that succeeded despite the fact he's supposed to be a Multiversal Singularity. For his part, he considers both Darkseid and the Anti-Monitor rivals in his own Multiversal Conqueror schemes. Another rival of his is Nekron, who's vision of an all-consuming darkness is a lot more...silent. He and the Black Lanterns also have some sort of tie to dark matter, so there is that.
  • Once, he held the trope of Our Dark Matter Is Mysterious. Jimmy Neutron speculates that it is akin to the dark matter chip his his inner evil, Evil Jimmy, used as part of his scheme of creating an evil version of the Earth that would sap away and demateralize the original if not stopped. He theorizes that Evil Jimmy is waiting with big plans in some corner of the now expanded Dark Multiverse, and some have heard Barbatos murmur "perhaps". Some theorize that the dark matter Rick Sanchez uses for his interdimensional portals could have some ties as well. With a littany of timelines Rick has seen devestated him and Morty are hardly comfortable, though Rick is much more prompt to snark and has called Barbatos "The Dragon Who Tries Way The Fuck Too Hard". Due to his immense power and use of dark matter, the Xeelee are for once actually worried about him as they are reminded of their doomed struggle with the dark matter Photino Birds. That said, with how advanced the Xeelee are it's probably going to be a fair fight if each side brings their A game.
  • Now he chooses the trope of Expendable Alternate Universe. It is his desire to see all worlds fall to darkness, and in betrayal of his duty he has allowed the doomed and decaying worlds in the Dark Multiverse to persist far longer than they should be. Barbatos boasts that the Forever War of the pantheon, its constant shifting and ever-expanding expanse of realities will be fertile fuel. One day he intends to usher in a second invasion from these new nightmare realities, a scenario he has dubbed "The Darkest Nights Of The Pantheon". His greatest fantasy is for all realities tied to the Trope Pantheon and the interversal realm to plummet into a nightmare it will never wake up, the worst case scenarios forever occuring. Oddly there's no reality born from Melkor's nightmares despite one for every other Grand United Alliance, as none of his nightmares would be seen as bad enough for everyone else. That being said, there are a few scenarios he refuses to let play out, since they threaten the existence of the Dark Multiverse. The Reality Bomb Davros came up with managed to kill the Void just from the possibility of it going up. Barbatos REFUSES to let that nightmare scenario manifest, as not even the Dark Multiverse would survive its full detonation. That his brainchild and what he and the Daleks would do it to inspired a twinge of fear in Barbatos made the Mad Scientist pretty happy with himself
  • He is seen as one of the worst examples of what happens when a Destroyer Deity chooses to be actually evil and not to serve a purpose. One could compare it to the draconic Alduin, who yes his job is that of a world ender but he would prefer to be a ruler. The two are shockingly familiar in some aspects, and they may be friends under certain circumstances. However they regard themselves more as rivals, in part because Barbatos has mocked him for an apparent cowardice. Further commentary has led to him being dubbed as a Shadow Archetype to Giratina, noting both are dragons who were initially tasked with serving a sort of multiversal order through aggressive means. While Giratina grew obssessive it overcame its resentment towards its creator Arceus and would try to stop Cyrus' attempted recreation of the universe. Barbatos became so much worse and betrayed what he was meant to stand for, which has made the Renegade Pokemon the member of the Creation Trio with the most hatred towards him.
  • To Zamasu, the Dark Multiverse is proof of mortals' failings and a poison birthed from their nightmares. To Barbatos, Zamasu is a foolish Hypocrite who has given him many scenarios to germinate in his reality. He pointed at these flaws, laughing and wearing down Zamasu until he reached a breaking point when he said, "Face it, Zamasu, for all your talk of justice and order, you're just as much a sinner as the mortals you hate. In other words, in a metaphorical sense, you are a mortal, too." Driven insane by rage and denial, Zamasu tried to attack the dark god, only to have the Time Ring snatched off his finger. Without the Time Ring, the Goku Black component keeping the fusion together was erased, leaving only Future Zamasu. However, the already unstable fusion affected his immortality on a cellular level, causing his body to turn back into Merged Zamasu, but as his half corrupted form. His mind completely gone, Zamasu threatened to turn into his Infinite form, only to have Barbatos drain him to a withered husk barely clinging to life, stopping him from achieving the transformation. Zamasu's hatred for the Great Dragon grew as he recovered in his temple, but Barbatos didn't care.
  • Beerus has been livid at Barbatos as one bastard of a Destroyer Deity, only for the bat god to laugh at him. Not as hard as Zamasu, but he immediately pointed out his hypocrisies, how even if he's not exactly evil he is terrible at his job, and how petty he is. Barbatos knows he's betrayed his occupation, but he doesn't try to moralize and enjoys his status as a dark god. To further screw with him, he showed some new universes in the Dark Multiverse where Beerus was killed by members of the Dragon Team and even his angel Whis after one too many mistakes pushed them into a Face–Heel Turn. Needless to say, the bat god has had fun screwing with people, even if many have called them "glorified fanfiction". Speaking of which, as the Dark Multiverse is a realm of doomed and failed universes, some have half-jokingly called it "the reality where all the crappy fanfiction and bad writing comes from". And it's still mostly a joke, but no-one in the Dark Multiverse would think it's funny.
  • One of the greater dangers of the Dark Multiverse is that it is also a place which villains could have their own desires fulfilled, as many villains sided with Barbatos for the promise of having their own worlds to rule. The SCP Foundation has, among other things, done their damndest not to allow SCP-2006 to know Barbatos and the Dark Multiverse exists since if he becomes wise to the trick they pulled on him his desire to feed on fear and no limit to what he can turn into would make him an excellent asset for a multiverse born out of terror. The Presence knows the bevy of Canons where things go to pot that would be at home in the Dark Multiverse, and the criticism he gave the JLA when they confronted him in the basement of Castle Bat proves even more relevant for them. Forces of literal, evil darkness are also welcome; Chernabog and Nightmare Moon can prosper in the Dark Multiverse. The Mane Six can guess that the timelines where their villains won exist in the Dark Multiverse...and as much as they don't like it, with the shadow of creation's dark underbelly expanding in the Trope Pantheon they're right.
  • Some of his allies are corrupted incarnations of usually heroic deities who seek the Dark Multiverse as a way to rise above their "prime" selves. He has promised Dark Danny a way to truly solidify his presence in the timeline and be forever free of his past either by way of Danny Fenton himself or in a more figurative sense. The Valeyard is one of his favorite new allies, as the Doctor's own capacity for darkness and angst may surpass even Batman. In preparation for invading the Whoniverse the Valeyard has been sent to collect Dark Multiverse counterparts for incarnations; an 11th Doctor subsumed by the Dream Lord, a realized version of the Predator Dalek, and an unrepetent take on the Time Lord Victorious. The former dragon of the World Forge has some interested in the Corrupted Character Copy type, given his army of twisted evil variants, such as the Seven...well, more so what they symbolize than anything. The comic Black Noir is friends with The Batman Who Laughs and eagerly took the opportunity of selling out to Barbatos so he could kill Homelander across the multiverse forever. He is also interested in the ascended Batman Parody Knight Hawk for his dynamic and ties trope-wise to Batman, something Atticus isn't fond of in the slightest.
  • The Chaos Gods were heard laughing with glee when the Dark Multiverse, a dimension shaped by fears and nightmares much like the ones which feed into the Warp, ascended into the Pantheon, for the two formed a feedback loop - the more fears and nightmares there were, the more Dark Universes are born, and the more negative emotions are fed into the Warp and Chaos Gods to create new terrors and horrors, and the cycle repeats...frankly it's a nightmare for the Imperium and the many adversaries of Chaos that a new ancient evil god made an arrangement with Chaos Undivided. Chillingly, there is credence to his words that "I have seen the Dark King, the End and the Death in your future Emperor, and I'll jump at the opportunity to bring it out!" These nightmares have allowed another being to grow in power; the Ebon Dragon. The Shadow of All Things is a sort of Shadow Archetype of the gods, one defined in opposition to them. So as part of his desire to not need the forces of good to define him, and a want to finally become proactive instead of a case of pure Heroes Act, Villains Hinder, he is working with the draconic bat monster.
  • Due to Barbatos' association with nightmares and fears, especially his use of them in torturing his enemies, he has many allies among nightmare deities, but also a number of new enemies. Given what his plans are, these allies could be considered The Quisling, or merely understudies. Freddy Krueger and Pitch Black both sought him out for the purpose of combining forces and spreading fear and terror throughout the Pantheon. It is representing a nightmare reality that makes him one of very few cosmic threats Dream of the Endless himself. In the field of using and exploiting nightmares, he has formed somewhat of a rivaly with the Daedric Prince Vermina. Antasma leapt at the chance to join Barbatos' side, perhaps seeing the bat-god as the source of his ascension into what he is now, as it was a nightmare Antasma fed on that turned him from a regular bat into a creature of nightmares. Perhaps, so he believes, he was intended to be Barbatos' avatar in the Mario world. However, when Antasma directed Barbatos to assail the dreams of Luigi, Mario wasted no time jumping into his brother's dreams to team up with Dreamy Luigi and Princess Luna to force Barbatos and Antasma out.
  • Due to the previously mentioned association it is absolutely no surprise that he has sided with the Dark Matter Horde and made himself an adversary of Kirby. Barbatos may suffer from a case of Evil Cannot Comprehend Good, but he absolutely knows as cute and silly as they looks Kirby can't be underestimated for a threat as they have a long and storied history of kicking eldritch butt. Additionally, his ties to dark matter have freaked Nibbler and the rest of Planet Express out since Nibbler's excrement is dark matter. A different sort, but still. Given there's nothing remotely comical about Barbatos in the slightest and his threat is multiversal in scale, their fear is totally understandable. His alliance with the Dark Matter Horde and emnity with Kirby has led the dragon-bat to learn of Void Termina, a primordial chaos god. As Astral Birth Void, it is a Destroyer Deity and a Creator Deity, believed by the Ancients to be the source of all forms of matter, Dreams, Soul, Darkness, and Heart while existing in all dimensions simultaneously. Barbatos' plan is to influence Void Termina negatively to be reborn as a being of total darkness and calamity.
  • All roads lead to darkness.

@Hamana, why exactly is Solomon Kane against Solomon? And why is Solomon accusing him as being an imposter? Also I believe the staff once belonged to Moses as well.

Also I agree with Forgo Light, Solomon Kane should at least be a Lesser God as a Badass Normal in a world of Supernatural.

Other that I believe it's pretty fine, but I think it might be good to mention Conan. They briefly met and battled alongside each other with fellow Robert E. Howard creation Dark Agnes de Chastillon (also Moon Knight was there) against The Wyrm.

  • Theme Songs: Ninjastar Pop, Metro City Downtown and the vocal and instrumental versions of Bushinryu Ninjastar Cypher
  • Alignment: Lawful Good
  • Portfolio: Affirmative-Action Legacy, All Women Love Sneakers, Art Attacker, Badass Bookworm, Black and Nerdy Braids of Action, Close-Range Combatant, Fan Of The '80s, Fragile Speedster, Genki Girl, Highly Visible Ninja, McNinja, O.O.C. Is Serious Business (regarding JP), Red Is Heroic, Teen Genius
  • Domains: Intellect, Bushinryuu Ninjitsu, Retro Music, Family
  • Allies:
  • Enemies:
  • Being Monitored By/Person Of Interest To: The Houses of Law and Justice and Craft (regarding her graffiti tags, albeit for different reasons)
  • Favorite 80's Musicians: David Bowie, Freddie Mercury, Jerrica 'Jem' Benton
  • Odd Friendship: Yoh Hinomura and Emu Hino, Bart and Lisa Simpson
  • The ascension of one Kimberly Jackson did not start with her (reluctant) Master, the Bushinryuu ninja Guy, but rather Bruce Wayne. The World's Greatest Detective was researching a new group that came on the scene, known only as 'Operation Lifedrain.' Consisting of just four men, Operation Lifedrain's public appearance consists of businessmen and philanthropists (as well as the occasional politician), but in actuality, their true intentions are just plain criminal. Money laundering, funding terrorist attacks, and political corruption, all designed with one single purpose: to undermine the Pantheon and drain it of its resources. Three of them (Noah Cross, Frank Underwood and Renata Glasc) were known to Bruce, but JP was an enigma. That is where Kimberly Jackson comes in, as she has encountered the man in the past.
  • The first thing that Kimberly did upon entering the Pantheon was to make a beeline towards the Busbinryuu temple Guy shared with Maki. Maki watched amused as Kimberly nearly ran him over as she hugged Guy, thanking him for allowing her to come to the Pantheon. While Kimberly had been an uninvited student at first, she had grown onto Guy upon seeing her dedication to the Bushinryuu way. Guy then gave his student her first task as an ascended being: the Pantheon is home to a thriving ninja community. She should visit some of the more friendly ninjas, whilst steering clear of the Bushinryuu's enemies. "Who knows?" Guy says with a hint of a smile on his face. "You might meet new friends that share your interests." As Kimberly found out, no truer words were ever said. The first deity Kimberly encountered was Guy's friend, Ryu. When Kimberly was first starting out, it was Ryu who gauged her progress. Kimberly still remembers Ryu's words of encouragement after the match was over: "Your take on Bushinryu is unique. Cherish those differences." Ryu congratulated Kimberly on her ascension, and if she wanted to test her fists against his in a rematch, then he is more than ready.
    • Kimberly is also a talented graffiti artist. Her various cans of spray paint can be used to create works of art... as well as various types of bombs. Her Bushinryuu-themed works has attracted the attention of some of the Pantheon's most talented (and in some cases, infamous) taggers. Kat was the first to take notice, followed by Gum. Delsin Rowe was the last, mostly because was was crank-calling the GUAE's Emergency Hotline (and surviving the latest hit squad sent after him). "Wow. I like the Japanese theme you got goin' here," Delsin complimented. "Woulda had a blast if you were with me in Seattle. A little taggin' here. Pissin' off the DUP... good times. And you can weaponize your spraypaint cans... wish I'd thought of that. I'm actually jealous."
    • As Kimberly is a graffiti artist, her works has garnered the attention of not just the various law enforcement deities from the House of Law & Justice, but also from the House of Crafts, albeit for different reasons. The deities in the House of Crafts have nothing but praise and rave reviews for Kimberly's style. The law enforcement deities from Law & Order complain about Kimberly breaking the law with her graffiti, but it mostly goes unpunished, due to the influence of Bruce Wayne and Guy. That doesn't stop Judge Dredd from wanting to stick Kimberly in an iso-cube or Kim Kaphwan wanting to strong-arm Kimberly into performing community service by cleaning up her tags. However, the more flexible deities like John Luther and Phillip has sought Kimberly out for her input on various cases, of which Kimberly is more than happy to lend a hand. In return, Luther and Phillip turn a blind eye to Kimberly's less-than-legal artistic endeavors.
    • The Simpsons have conflicting opinions on Kimberly, regarding her graffiti. Bart Simpson is also skilled with a can of spraypaint, even more so as his graffiti-tagging alter-ego, El Barto. "You are an artiste with the spraycan," Bart had commented. "And on top of that, you tagged Homer's car. You got my seal of approval." Surprisingly, Bart's little sister is also a fan of Kimberly's art. "Even if it's against the law, her art defines her, and reflects her personality," Lisa had complimented. While the Simpson siblings have no problems with Kimberly, their parents are a different story. "That Jackson girl is a bad influence," Marge Simpson was heard saying. "Despite her being under Bruce Wayne's protection, she still vandalized and defaced public property. She is just as bad as that El Barto character." The family patriarch wasn't any better. Sure, Kimberly may have went too far in tagging Homer's car (to Bart's approval and Lisa's amusement), but Homer was beyond irate. The last time Homer was pissed was when those teenagers tagged his car with seashells as a gift to Lisa.

  • Per her Master's orders, Kimberly has introduced herself to the Pantheon's ninja community. Mai Shiranui was already familiar with the Ninjastar following her own visit to Metro City in search for Andy Bogard, and even tested her combat skills. The match ended in a standoff, but Mai gave Kimberly her seal of approval: "Quick, beautiful, deadly. I like your style!" That alone made Kimberly's day. Mai then directed Kimberly to the deified superninja and shrine maiden, Ryu Hayabusa and Momiji. Kimberly would later find out from Hayabusa and Momiji that Mai had competed in the Dead or Alive tournaments on two seperate occasions. Mai did, however give Kimberly a warning in regards to the not-so-friendly ninja within the Pantheon, primarily the Lin Kuei. While Kuai Liang is friendly enough, it's Bi-Han and Frost that Kimberly should be worried about. "Just don't call them ninjas," Hayabusa warned. "They take offense to that." The Shirai Ryu, on the other hand, are the genuine article. It had been Ayane and Kasumi who had directed Kimberly to Scorpion and his apprentice, Takahashi Takeda. Kimberly reminds Takeda of Jacqui Briggs, as she is just as feisty as his fiancee is... and just as jealous, if Cassie claimed Jacqui to be.
  • Would you believe that Kimberly is not just a genius, but a former cheerleader? Regarding the latter, it's why she gets along swimmingly with the former cheerleader-turned-model Miu Kazashiro and the chainsaw-wielding, zombie-killing cheerleader Juliet Starling are friends. The former is how she got an invite as a part-time teacher to Elysium Academy. The former bōsōzoku turned teacher Eikichi Onizuka and the teacher/closet Yakuza princess Kumiko Yamaguchi approached Kimberly with a job offer to teach part-time at the Academy. It's also where she met Yoh Hinomura and his wife, Emu Hino. What shocked Kimberly is that the unassuming pottery instructor and art teacher are the co-leaders of the 108 Dragons, said to be the most feared faction of the Chinese Mafia. But Freeman and his wife are not scouting potential recruits to join the Dragons, thankfully. They are there because they genuinely like teaching. That, and they are monitored closely by the school's staff. On top of that, Bruce Wayne knows the pair and vouched for their sincerity. Which, in itself is shocking to Kimberly. Yet, she has come to trust Batman's judgement. As a result, a strange friendship has formed between the spunky Bushinryuu disciple and the two heads of the 108 Dragons. It also helps that neither Yoh or Emu are friends with JP.
    • During her time at Elysium Academy, Kimberly encountered a Korean female by the name of Moon Dong-eun. Over tea, Dong-eun told Kimberly about the abuse she has suffered at the hands of her bullies, and the revenge she had brought on her tormentors. This struck a chord with Kimberly, as she herself had lost her beloved uncle to JP. Unlike Dong-eun, revenge would not come for Kimberly, due to JP being leagues above her in skill, but also that he threw their match. Kimberly also made friends with April O'Neil, who was a visiting teacher who taught Basic Journalism. This was also how she met Hamato Splinter and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. However, this also draws unwanted attention from Oroku Saki, who automatically puts Kimberly in the enemy category due to her friendship with April, Splinter and The Turtles. But given Kimberly's ties to several powerful warriors - Guy and Maki included - all Shred-head can do is just stew in his anger and plot.
  • To say that Kimberly loves 80s music is an understement. She has several mixtapes with some of her favorites. Then, she met Frederick Bulsara (Sol Badguy) by chance. Sol introduced Kimberly to not only his namesake, known to the public at large as Freddie Mercury, and David Bowie. While technically their careers began much earlier, Kimberly found some bangers that she added to her mixtape, among them being Ashes To Ashes and Kingdom Come from Bowie, and Princes of the Universe and I Want It All from Mercury (and by extension, Queen). But what really gets Kimberly pumped is Jem and the Holograms and Dazzler. One mixtape has nothing but Jem's hits and several of Dazzler's 80's classics (recommended by The Juggernaut, of all people, as he is a fan). There is a rumor that Kimberly also has Heart of Madnesss and Silent Survivor on a Japan-only 80s mix tape, but Kimberly has neither confirmed nor denied that rumor.
  • "What is strength"? Well hmmm... that depends on the person you ask, I guess. You know what I'm saying?"

Funny you mention Sharkboy and Lavagirl, since just today I was considering them for Short Screentime for Reality after noticing that they weren't in the Pantheon, though I didn't put them in my sandbox. Not ready to make a formal proposal yet, but it's something I had in mind.

Rework suggestion time.

Donquixote Doflamingo and Donquixote Rocinante, Saint Brothers of Fashionable Feathers (Combining both since they both wear feathers. They are two brothers, one a good pirate and one a very evil pirate, who wear flamingo feathers. Doflamingo wears pink feathers and Rocinante wears black feathers. These coats are so massive that their conclusions have them lying down on their coats that are larger than their own bodies)

[up]Void Termina or rather, Astral Birth Void, is undoubtedly gonna cause them some confusion. Void is both a Destroyer Deity and a Creator Deity, what with him being the God worshipped by the Jambandran Religion, and believed by the Ancients to be the source of all forms of matter, Dreams, Soul, Darkness, and Heart while existing in all dimensions simultaneously. He can also be influenced by Positive and Negative energy which results in him and his incarnations veering more towards good and evil for Positive and Negative respectively.

Lord English could be rivals with the Anti-Monitor. I’m interested in what Barbatos thinks of the Reality Bomb Davros came up with, as it threatens all of existence and nonexistence (it actually killed the Void) so it even endangers the Dark Multiverse itself if it goes off in the Pantheon.
