Trope Pantheons Discussion

Go To

Welcome to the Trope Pantheons thread! Please read the rules:

    Rules
Rules. The following are not suggestions or tips, but things that have to be followed:
  • When writing a profile, take note of the following:
    • The very first thing any contributor should do before working on an idea or a profile is to propose and nominate the idea on the Trope Pantheons discussion thread. In the forums, you must discuss with other users on adding ideas and seek their approval with sound reasoning, a paragraph of reasoning to justify taking a trope should be sufficient. This is done to see if your proposal is the best representative and so, in case your profile is turned down, you do not waste time writing something that others might not find suitable. You can also get some assistance in the forum thread by either asking for help and those interested asking if they can help. Attempting to work on ideas without a nomination and at least one net thumbs-up will not be accepted regardless of how much you have written already. Submissions that are added without discussion are likely to be deleted and those who violate those rules by adding Pantheon content without discussion will get reported to the mods.
    • If you feel the need to remove a character for some reason (poor quality, outdated titles, etcetera) and replace him/her with another or outright rework, please see what the other tropers think about this in the discussion thread before doing anything hasty. For reworks in particular, nominate the idea as you would with new characters or profiles. Use good reasoning to see if your idea can easily replace the character present without drawing out your statement or giving too ambiguous claims most do not understand.
      • In the same vein, if you adopt a profile from another troper, it is recommended that you make an announcement that you have done so on the discussion thread. More often than not, a trope that was reserved for something was given away to someone else. Check the Related tab on the top of a page to see if a trope or character has been reserved by a user, either in the Pantheon or the Sandbox sections.
    • If, for whatever reason, you are writing about a God who just happens to be a person in real life, just try to be very careful about what you decide to say. Do not try to make the editing seem too meta (self-referential) and use the creativity to create hypothetical scenarios towards fictional characters. Some real-life individuals, including content creators (fictional content created by them is still fair-game, but do not bring up the creators themselves in such cases), may be considered disqualified for profiles due to controversies that would make them concern the Rule of Cautious Editing Judgment. To determine where a current creator would be disqualified:
      • Wait for at least a month after the latest significant update for a creator's controversy before any decision can be made. If a confirmation from the questioned creator (or associates) themselves occurs, then wait for a week.
      • Immediate disqualification for either a guilty sentence in a significant court case against the creator, or evidence of consistently repeated, deliberate, and/or intentionally provocative hate speech and advocacy of dehumanizing perspectives, with lesser examples warranting caution instead.
      • For creators with a clear persona of their character disclosed before any scandal, the persona can have a profile with no mentioning of their real-life information. Ambiguous existence of a persona would have to be discussed further hand for anything more decisive.
    • For obvious reasons, gods cannot be followers, high priests, or heralds. The 'gods' have ascended meaning there is no need for said character to be a follower of another if they have ascended.
    • No hype profiles, please. 'Hype Profiles' are profiles that have been made out of ongoing events and have not been around for a long time. This creates 'hype' due to popularity and certain elements either through certain scenes, memes, dramatic acting or considered overly awesome. They are not bad tropes but building a portfolio solely for that is a bad idea, as they do not say a thing about representing the trope best (unless it's those trope concepts that they are trying to embody for a long time)
      • You can see one if the profile is only showing off how awesome they are or suddenly pushing how 'significant' they are thanks to the just very recent events rather than respecting the longstanding good representations of the trope. And usually having... minimum portfolio or flavor texts and being a bit too generalized or self-contained to events from within their home series instead of interacting with other Pantheon members.
  • When posting in the forum, take note of the following:
    • When you suggest a God, please explain why they fit the trope. Not everyone is going to understand just "X should be the God of Y because they exemplify the trope" off the bat, especially if they're unfamiliar with the work.
    • You must use the Trope Pantheons discussion thread in the forums if you wish to add a new deity, story, something else of importance to the Trope Pantheon canon, or reworking an existing deity (be it simply improving their existing profile or changing their title).
      • For new and reworked deities, 3 [tup] means the profile will have a one-week waiting period.
      • For new and reworked deities, 4 [tup] is a 3 day waiting period.
      • 5 [tup] is an automatic ascension for new and reworked deities.
      • Speaking of reworks, for anyone that wants to improve such profiles, they have to review the current trope the character(s) has and see if it still holds up or if there is a better rep for their trope.
    • For adding new Treasures to The Great Treasury or new Dominions to the Dominions Expansion, the following rules apply:
      • For new Treasures or Dominions, 3 [tup] is a 3 day waiting period.
      • 4 [tup] is an automatic addition to the Great Treasury or Dominions.
    • Do not repost a profile in the forums more than twice a day if noticeable changes have not been made in between. If a profile is posted a third time in a row without noticeable alterations, it will be downvoted. This is so spamming of no-effort profiles is less frequent and to prevent tropers from getting aggravated seeing the same profile over and over. The minimum acceptable change has to be one flavor text.
    • The Pantheon is not a mouthpiece for you to voice your opinions on certain characters. You may like certain characters more than others, but do not make the mistake of making profiles for characters you like to look like Character Shilling.
    • Every troper new to the Pantheon is barred from approving or downvoting profiles until they have ascended at least two profiles, this means avoiding the usage of "[tup]" or "[tdown]".
    • Do not include fan reception in any profiles. It has nothing to do with the character themselves and will create unnecessary conflict.
    • Write a detailed explanation on why the character is the best candidate for the deity of that trope. If people disagree with you, do not force it on the people.
    • Keep in mind that if you still want to try to find a trope for a particular character, you are only given three chances to find a particular trope for them. If a suggestion goes past three possible tropes, then it will come off as shoehorning a character into the Pantheon just for the sake of that character to be there.
      • On a related note, even if a character does have a free trope being suggested, there is still a limit of three attempts for suggesting that character for that trope. If no one responds to that certain proposal after being posted three times, then it will get to the point where the idea will be seen as being shoehorned into the Pantheon. In addition, the idea needs to be considered acceptable and approved because they are good, not for the sake of pitying others. After all, no one is responding to their idea.
    • You can also adopt a profile or idea to work on from another contributor by messaging a request to them (preferably through private messages). Even if you get their permission, you still have to announce your adoption to the forum. Note that if the idea wasn't nominated in the first place you still have to properly nominate it.
  • When posting Pantheon related stuff to the wiki, take note of the following:
    • Do not put a link to these Pantheon pages into the main wiki page. The moment you want to note in a trope example that the character is a God of this trope, do not do it. If you see leftovers of this practice, correct the situation by deleting the offending text. This goes for any non-Pantheon page. The only exception to this rule is if a page in the Pantheon could be confused for a page in Main, like Good Colors, Evil Colors and Pantheon.Good And Evil Colors.
    • Do not bring things that would incite fights; hot topics and 'urgent' news are not pertinent to the Pantheon's mission. For example, the political scene and some really bad politicians. We are not here to fight each other, so don't suggest things that go in that direction, this is a fictional Pantheon after all.
    • To add a Pantheon page for a certain work, 4 or more characters coming from the same series/franchise should be ascended before adding the page. For Creator specific pages, 4 deities coming from the same creator and 2 individual work pages coming from the same creator is the minimum to warrant a page.
    • Do not create a trope page for a story until the story is fully completed.
    Instructions and Tips
Here are some tips one should keep in mind when editing:
  • When writing a profile for a character, here are a few things to note:
    • Please refer to Text Formatting Rules when writing a profile, since understanding how to make and edit site pages in general is a necessity for working on profiles or other Pantheon content. Additionally, if you are not experienced with English, refer to this forum page, as proper English spelling and grammar is expected.
    • All deities should be sorted by their divine ranking. Put Overdeities on the top of the page and Quasideities on the bottom. Also, be sure to add them in alphabetical order by their first/given name (can be reversed if it is Eastern ordered). For a group, if there is no official name for them all list down all their names by order of relevance or (if too long to list) title them as Insert Name Here Main Characters or some other identifiable title along the same lines.
    • The maximum number of tropes that a god can have is two, but do not try to abuse that fact. If you need to use a second trope to specify a certain thing about their position, that can be excused either because said character represents their trope choice very well alongside the first trope. It is still generally encouraged to only have one trope.
    • A trope can only belong to one profile at a time. The only time two profiles can share a trope is if there are explicit variations listed in the trope page proper (e.g. Muscle Angst is held by both Biscuit Krueger and Chihiro Fujisaki as the former represents "Too Much Muscle" and the latter represents "Not Enough Muscle")
    • If the character you are about to add to a House already exists in another, make sure to mention that this person has spots in another House as well. Up to 2 places can be made for a deity at most.
    • For a character's theme song, try to avoid calling it "Theme of God X" or "Theme of (Show where God X originates from)". If possible, try to find out if the song has an actual name through research. Most importantly, it has to be part of their series' official soundtracks from the media. Do not list songs that are made by fans or outside sources. If they were not specifically used as music for that specific character, then they do not count. Furthermore, it has to be a general theme specifically made for that characters' appearances, not some generic music that plays for many other instances not related to the character in question.
    • For images, when adding an image for your chosen character, it is highly recommended to use a stylized image that embodies the character or renders that also highlight a character's behavior (such as cool poses). Most images should be from the main adaptations of the character unless the images from the other media are of a higher quality than the adaptation. Unless it is needed, do not use fanart for images. If you are, please attribute it to the original artist. Due to the website's dark mode, removing white backgrounds from an image is paramount. This website is suggested to do the background removal. If an image you have takes up too many bytes, it is suggestible to use this site to reduce the byte size. If the byte is still too big, run the compressed image through other sites (or even the same one) to compress even further. Use wikis to look for better images, as even wikis for the series might not contain good official images.
    • Creativity is your friend. While it is not recommended to get too ditzy at your ideas, it is best that when writing a profile for a certain character, do you think of capable scenarios between X and Y. Tip: do not use shallow examples (X wields a sword and Y wields one too) and try to think of relationships that make sense (i.e those characters that are shout-outs for another).
  • Pantheon Content:
    • Some series or genres will eventually have greater representation in the Pantheon than others. This is unavoidable, but a little diversity helps to make you not look like a shill. Try to ensure that if you add a deity from a popular series, make sure that it is because they are a good representative for the trope in question, and not just because they are connected to another deity in their respective canon.
      • As far as deities from actual mythologies, there is generally an expectation to build the profiles off interactions from fictional portrays rather than basing it entirely from the actual myth. Therefore, a mythological deity should be more of a Composite Character whose main identity is from the actual myth.
    • Occasionally there will be Gods that carry a title without a trope. This is not forbidden, but it is well-advised not to abuse them. The only house where trope-less profiles are wholly allowed is the House of Food. Mainly due to most food items lacking tropes, and adding tropes about said foodstuffs is slightly unnecessary. However, the character being ascended for their choice of food, or food-related thing must be a decently good representative of said item. (i.e their Trademark Favorite Food, or something that they are closely associated with In-Universe, or both).
    • For Dominions and Treasures profiles, always consider what made those places/objects popular in the first place. Were they plot-important, identifiable imagery or have a unique aspect of it? Do not just bring regular objects under the basis of following a certain canon.
    • Do not write in self-promotion or blatant advertising. Minor references to something are fine but writing that clearly intends to advertise something will not be given toleration.
  • For Profile Standards:
    • Flavor text is used to describe certain things about a character, place, or object. To avoid short ones, it is recommended to write flavor text with 4-7 sentences that can fill around 2 lines each. Be warned that adding too many sentences does not equal good flavor text as it is not an essay of sorts (unless words are substantial and do add to the overall line).
    • Character Profiles of a certain person should have the following:
      • A portfolio that contains at least 7 (at the minimum) tropes describing their character.
      • Flavor text count for a deity profile should have by minimum, 10 (depending on if the character in question has enough relationships/characterization) to 15 with a maximum of 20-25 for an individual profile.
      • On the other hand, group profiles (profiles of a group that has 4 or more members) have their maximum flavor text count to 15 minimum, giving individual lines for the other members of the group (unless the members are not as characterized) up to 30 at max.
    • Dominion profiles of a certain place should have the following:
      • A portfolio that contains at least 5 (at the minimum) tropes describing the context of the place.
      • Flavor text count should range at least 10 to 15.
    • Treasure profiles (inanimate objects without a trope) should have the following:
      • A portfolio that contains at least 6 (at the minimum) tropes that describes the object itself.
      • Flavor text count should be at least 7 flavor text up to 12 to constitute a treasure profile.
    Divine Ranking System
  • Overdeity: Omnipotent-level Reality Warper deities capable of manipulating the entire universe (or at least the world) at will. Within their own universe they are believed to be omnipotent, or at least impossible-to-completely-destroy embodiments or concepts.
  • Greater Gods: High-level Reality Warper deities that are extremely powerful (capable of destroying or changing anywhere from a large city to a planet at will) and very strong non-reality warpers capable of doing the same thing.
  • Intermediate Gods: Deities at this level are capable of strong but specialized powers such as hydrokinesis, pyrokinesis, etc. without major drawbacks and low-level Reality Warper beings capable of affecting their immediate area at will.
  • Lesser Gods: Capable of highly specific or little power on their own, or suffer from Power at a Price. However, they may be able to ruthlessly exploit their power or combine it with just being badass enough to make up for it.
  • Demigods: Badass Normal citizens of the pantheon, making up for their lower status with strength, strategy, and/or planning.
  • Quasideities: Any otherwise normal human, human equivalent, or below without any special powers or training will fall here.
    Templates
Template for adding a new deity: God X, God/Goddess/Deity of (Insert Trope Here) (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)
  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Rank: This can range from Quasideity, Demigod, Lesser God, Intermediate God, Greater God, to Overdeity, based on the representation of power mentioned above.
  • Symbol: An image or icon used to represent the deity.
  • Theme Song: Official song (in other words, no fan music, regardless of quality) that usually is used in affiliation with the character. If the deity is a musician this will most likely be their Signature Song. If possible, give a link for reference, preferably on either a website like Soundcloud or YouTube.
  • Alignment: Good, evil, neutral, etc. Forget about The Great Character Alignment Debate here; the Pantheon is one of the few places where you can assign Dungeons & Dragons alignments to characters that don't have an alignment system. After all, the Pantheon is based on D&D and is made for fun.
  • For Pokémon deities only:
    • Gender: Defines the gender of the Pokémon; if genderless, it instead defines what gender they identify as.
    • Ability: Provides the Pokémon's ability. If they can Mega Evolve, the new ability is listed as well.
    • Moves: Defines the four moves used by a Pokémon. A Z-Move may also be listed.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the character.
  • Domains: Things that the character has influence over.
  • Herald: Non-ascended loyal character that is from the same series as the ascended character.
  • High Priest: Non-ascended like heralds, but not from the same series, and can serve as a worthy replacement in case the deity would be unavailable, incapacitated, dead, or otherwise incapable of carrying out their duties. They can be served as part-time workers in case the originals are busy with some jobs. Co-Godhood is accepted depending on the approval of the originals, usually if the co-deity is from the same series.
  • Followers: Non-ascended characters that are not part of the Pantheon, but would probably worship this character by the fact that they share the ascended character's trope.
  • Relationships between ascended characters go here with your chosen character, it goes something like this:
    • Allies: Members of the Pantheon that are allies, those that share the same values as them and would theoretically be friends with them.

    • Rivals: Members of the Pantheon that are rivals, people who may look at your character with suspicion or a challenge.
    • Enemies: Members of the Pantheon that are foes, those who would see your chosen character as a threat, either from their perspective or yours.
    • Additional Character Relationships: Members of the Pantheon that do not fit in various relationships (examples include Enemy Mine, Vitriolic Best Buds, Teeth-Clenched Teamwork, Headbutting Heroes, Friendly Enemy, Friendly Rival, Just Friends, etc.), allies, rivals, or enemies.
    • Partner: Defines a partnership with an ascended deity and Mon-type. (if any)
    • Feared by/Fears: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon notably fear or are feared by.
    • Respected by/Respects: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon respect or are respected by.
    • Opposed by/Opposes: Not necessarily the same as "Enemies", but this is used for any deity whom the members of the Pantheon directly oppose or are opposed by (basically the opposite of "Respects", "On Good Terms With", and/or "Commonality Connection") in terms of certain viewpoints, regardless of alignment.
    • Pitied by/Pities: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon feel pity for or are found pitiable by.
    • Conflicting Opinion: Sometimes, the Deities argue over specific themes and philosophies.
      • OPTIONAL NOTE FOR CHARACTER RELATIONSHIPS: Should the list for Character relationships (IE. Allies, Enemies, etc.) become too big, categorize a certain number of characters to a specific group putting them on a sublist (One example: Luigi is from the same world as his brother Mario, hence Luigi should be fall under the Super Mario Bros sublist.)
  • Add the Intro. The intro is made up of two trivia, the Ascension Text (or just the Ascension) and The Bio. Both are necessary, but which order you use for them may vary depending on the profile in question. It may be better for one profile to have The Bio first and the Ascension second or vice-versa, although for the most part, the order is irrelevant:
    • The Ascension Text: This is the story of how the character got into the Pantheon and/or was ascended. There are many ways for this to happen. They may be tricked into it or have simply wandered into the Pantheon, they may have had an already ascended character bring them in, they may already be in the Pantheon (via being another deity's Herald or sharing a trope) and got "promoted", or some combination of the above. Anything is possible in the Pantheon, so use your imagination, but try to incorporate their trope into the story, if possible.
    • The Bio: A brief synopsis of the character's backstory. No need for the character's entire life/production history, but just give enough that those who don't know the character can get an idea of how the character works.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Deities/Characters is 10-15 (15-20 for group profiles) at minimum to 20-25 (30 for group profiles) at maximum.
Template for Dominions profiles: Place X, Place of (Insert Trope Here) (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)
  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Theme Song (Optional): Not important as compared to Deity and Dominion profiles but a notable mention if there is an accompanying song in use with the object.
  • Alignment: Refers to the dominion's role in their story, be it those used by villains or used by the Player Character.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the dominion.
  • Domains: Things that the place has links to.
  • Relationships (Optional): Unless the location has a connection with a specific deity, relationships are optional and may not be required. However, if there are deities linked to the same series as to where the dominion is linked to, note them using the relationships, this includes deities that theoretically have interest with said dominion, good or evil otherwise.
  • Add the Intro. Here the introduction of the Dominion is added with some tidbits regarding the origins of its' creation and usage in the story. You can also add what made it popular/iconic/important here.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Dominions is 10 at minimum to 15 at maximum.
Template for Treasure profiles: The name of the item in here (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)
  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Appearance: A shortened description of the item's looks with some notable features also mentioned.
  • Class: Refer to the Treasure Classification System in the Great Treasury.
  • Alignment: Refers to the objects' role in their story, be it those used by villains or used by the Player Character.
  • Theme Song (Optional): Not important as compared to Deity and Dominion profiles but a notable mention if there is an accompanying song in use with the object.
  • Museum Check: A note that says whether the item is viewable by the public.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the item.
  • Domains: Things that the item has links to.
  • Relationships (Optional): Unless the item has a connection with a specific deity, relationships are optional and may not be required. However, if there are deities linked to the same series as to where the item is linked to (especially the original owner of the item), note them using the relationships, this includes deities that theoretically have interest with said object, good or evil otherwise.
  • Add the Intro. Here the introduction of the Treasure is added with some tidbits regarding the origins of its' creation and usage in the story. You can also add what made it popular/iconic/important here.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Treasures is 7 at minimum to 12 at maximum.

no problem give me a sec

edit: okay that should do it!

anywho, I think I mentioned a way back that like with crimson looking over Jojo and dragon ball, that i'd also be looking over certain franchises to trim out any poor articles. I only did that with street fighter a while back, but I figure I may as well start that up again.

so, Call Of Duty. I have noticed a lot of not up to bar articles, but to make things less drastic i'm only choosing the more poor profiles here. those being:

Soap, Imran, Al-Ased, Vladamir, Price, Rameriz, The Banzai Chargers, Reznov,Mason, Dragovich, Irons, Zussman, Maxis, and [[Pantheon/Canines The Hellhounds]].

do notify me if someone has plans to rework them at some point

First draft of these two. I would like help to figure out more natural ways to connect his allies I haven't made flavor text for. I get the general vibe they'd get along, but the minutia is lost on me. Also I wasn't able to get a good image of Punchy the Bowl for Gumbald's profile so I would appreciate someone help me find one.

  • Theme Song: His theme song
  • Alignment: Neutral Good (was True Neutral for some time)
  • Portfolio: The Hero's Idol, The Episode He Stars In Is Actually Pretty Important To The Series, Only Actually Shows Up In Two Episodes But Has A Grand Legacy In Ooo, was Killed Off for Real And Possessed By The Lich, Hero of Another Story, Some Sort Of (Half?) Giant, Dented Iron, Broken Ace, Became Cynical That The World Is Always Doomed Until Finn Restored His Faith In People, Retired Badass, Largely Deaf And Gets By With Lip-Reading, Ascended to a Higher Plane of Existence
  • Domains: Heroism, Retirement, Cynicism and Optimisim, Legacy, Age, Death and Afterlife
  • Interested in: Grim
  • Allies: Finn and Jake, Sweet P, most good or neutral Adventure Time deities in general, Toshinori Yagi/All-Might and Izuku Midoriya/Deku, Shanks, Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy, Bob Parr/Mr Incredible (and the other Incredibles for that matter), Clark Kent/Superman, Steve Rogers/Captain America, Anna January/Starlight, Sean Archer, Jonathan Joestar, Doc Hudson, Augus, Master Roshi, Saitama, X, The Unconquered Sun, Metro Man, Steven Universe, Asa Martin/Samaritan
  • On good terms with: The Doctor (mainly the more cynical incarnations like the War, 9th and 12th), the House of Heroism, Rubeus Hagrid, Queen Maeve, Simon Petrikov
  • On speaking terms with: The Wolf
  • Enemies: THE LICH, Chaos (Sailor Moon) (and by extension the whole Grand United Alliance of Destruction), Sigma, the Daleks, Leatherface, Ramsay Bolton, Caster Troy, Lord Voldemort, evil deities in general
  • Disrespects: The other members of the Seven
  • A bit annoyed by: Billy (Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy)
  • Billy was a legendary hero of Ooo, the kind of badass that inspired Finn and Jake. He was the one that cast the Lich down into his prison of amber, he saved the Cotton Candy Princess from the Fire Count, slayed an evil ocean and even fought a bear. However he grew cynical of how despite all his efforts evil kept showing up, causing him to fall into a cynical slump where began to favor nonviolent solutions to evil and was an advocate of active community involvement. This eventually led to him and his girlfriend Canyon breaking up. Finn and Jake were dissapointed to see their idol fall into this cynical mindset, but the two managed to re-inspire his faith in old fashioned heroism. While Billy was a formiddable fighter in his youth time took its toll so when the Lich found him again he took his chance; killing him and possessing Billy/wearing his skin in order to trick Finn into helping him access Prismo's Time Room. The Lich would continue to wear Billy's remains until he broke into the Citadel. Shortly before then, Billy's spirit was in communication with Finn, where Finn would complete his bucket list and allow his spirit to move on, but not before telling him his biological father was alive in the Citadel. This...may have been a mistake. While his involvement in the series was short, his impact was great.
  • Billy didn't ascend in the traditional way. Rather, it was a result of a new item being added to The Great Treasury; the Earth Dragonballs. After getting back his Everything Burrito and wishing he knew what to wish for, he had Shenron wish to revive Billy. It took a bit of time for him to come back, but it paid off. Billy for his part didn't feel like he needed to come back after his bucket list was completed, however he did like the opportunity, especially after learning just how much Finn and Jake have developed as heroes. He ascended under the trope of Innocuously Important Episode because his feature episode ended up being shockingly impactful due to introducing the Lich and Billy's later impact. One of the most shocking reveals for him was learning about Sweet P. The rebooted version of his worst enemy had totally rejected the evil of the Lich and a thousand years in the future he will become the new equivalent of Billy. The irony is not lost on either Billy or the Lich, and it frustrates the latter to no end that Sweet P is fascinated with the legend of Billy. He wants to learn under him to be more of a hero, and to fight his evil previous life.
  • Though still badass, he's not as badass as he was in his prime. Even then, the Lich made sure to wait until his guard was down. Billy is more happy to act as a tutor to the next generation of heroes and give wisdom, however he also feels he needs to get back into shape now that he's been offered a second chance at life. His first step was to go to Kame Island to meet up with Master Roshi, a legendary Old Master who was Goku and Krillin's teacher. The various nudie mags had him scoff, though Roshi explained by saying he just didn't expect someone showing up so soon. While he's got a taste for hot young dames he's come to control his libido and not let it get in the way, even if he's still not able to ride the Nimbus Cloud. Billy believes that you can teach an old dog new tricks and he wants to work with Roshi to learn more martial arts; currently he is trying to learn the Kamehameha. Bulma bought Billy a hearing aid in order to help with his hearing issues, since not all deities have lips he can read. He doesn't wear them as much as he probably should since one of the first things he heard was Metro Man's singing. He does like the guy since he knows what it's like to feel exhausted by the job, just...don't sing near him.
  • Billy holds an honorary position in the House of Heroism, for not just his valiant deeds in his youth but that his actions would inspire heroism after his time. With their help he's managed to remake his old gauntlet that the Lich later managed to destroy, though he admits it's more of a nostalgic piece to put back in his case. When fighting, he'll be more likely to use his sword Nothung. A large part of why he got his passion for heroism back is being reminded of the lives his actions have saved and/or improved. Some of the more world-weary and cynical incarnations of the Doctor have shown up to discuss about how "silly little universe...always needs saving", with the 12th embracing an existentialist view of things. Billy's been keeping up a fitness routine with Mr Incredible, a superhero who fell into somewhat of his own funk, and the two managed to convince Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy to join them. While Barnacle Boy is a crabby old coot who wishes he'd get more respect he's still a good person and he liked the idea of this fitness routine. For Mermaid Man it gives him something to do outside of the retirement village.
  • Billy and Saitama have been talking about the more cynical aspects of their heroism, even if they're ultimately hopeful. For One Punch Man, the ease of which he can beat people gives him little satisfaction even if he does genuinely want to do good, and for Billy he worries it won't actually put an end to evil. He supposes its funny that they can bond over it, since they're totally different reasons to feel cynicism over. This feeling is why outside of the Lich Chaos may be the entity he hates the most; its the embodiment of the idea that The World Is Always Doomed. With its overwhelming power, Billy almost second-guessed himself for a second before confidently saying something along the lines Superman and Captain America would say; so long as there's at least one force for good, evil can never truly triumph. He may not be strong enough to fight Chaos, but he'll damn well try even if just in an inspirational way. Billy gets along with both Cap and the Man of Steel as they are figures of inspiration and hope, on a greater level than even his own legacy in Ooo.
  • X for a time also fell into that funk of their heroism not actually achieving anything in the long time, but he managed to get back in the game. X is a pacifist at heart, much like Billy. Also like Billy, he has an Arch-Enemy that doesn't know when to stay dead, that being the Maverick Sigma. Sigma doesn't explicitly want to wipe out all life, mainly its humanity he wants to destroy, and its out of a sense of Reploid supremacy. Of course that would probably not be the case if his Earth had more sentient biological organisms than humans, and he doesn't hold other organic humanoids like Billy with a higher regard. At the very least he doesn't go about it in a racist way like Voldemort, who among other groups looks down upon giants. The old hero noted that he may not be a rotting corpse but with his horcruxes he's as much of a lich as the Last Scholar of GOLB. Billy is rather cordial with fellow half-giant Hagrid, though that's probably because Hagrid gets along with almost everyone.
  • How he left the mortal plane wasn't pleasant. Either the Lich killed him and skinned him, or possessed him and killed him from the inside-out. Billy still has nightmares about it. Ramsay Bolton was giddy about knowing the details, prompting Roose to facepalm and tell him that he'd have a better shot surviving a conversion with the Night King than the Lich. Roose refuses to bring any of that trauma to Billy because he has no interest in antagonizing him, but the Bastard of Bolton didn't get the memo. Billy sees Ramsay as a sick bastard and that's mainly in the metaphorical sense, though the use of the word set him off. Leatherface creeps Billy the hell out, though he does pity him a tiny bit as he's clearly not well and more a tool of his murderous family. Billy isn't fond of Caster Troy as he used the face of someone else for his evil ends, though nothing as insane as the Lich. He wants to help Sean Archer deal with Caster Troy since he can sympathize with what happened to him.
  • He isn't that fond of the other Cartoon Network deity called Billy. Not that he's a bad kid or anything, he's just really stupid and can be a jerk at times. Mildly annoying, basically. Still, he does find it interesting that alongside Mandy they managed to ensare The Grim Reaper of their world to their bidding. The half-giant Billy is interested in Grim, both due to having died but also learning that the Lich's latest scheme involved the Death of his own reality. Grim is hoping never to meet the Lich, saying that "he's scarier than Mandy!", which she didn't protest. Billy is interested in Grim and has been wondering for some time what would happen if he and the Death of his world met. He's also curious at meeting the Wolf, another incarnation of Death who confronted Puss in Boots over becoming an arrogant hero that wasted his lives, but stopped fighting once Puss learned to appreicate his life and learn humility. Like the Lich the Wolf is deathly serious but unlike the Lich the Wolf is an Anti-Villain out to teach a lesson. Whatever lesson he feels Billy needed to learn, Death thinks he already has, so he gives him his adieu and tells him he doesn't have to worry about dealing with the Lich so long as he's present. And he doesn't mind the way he was revived, since it's not like Billy went out of his way to cheat death or anything.
  • What criticisms he might have for Billy aren't anything compared to his calling out of most members of the Seven, saying that they range from the psychopathic like Homelander's TV incarnation and comic Black Noir to the idol and hedonistic like A-Train and Jack from Jupiter. However he is sympathetic towards Queen Maeve as she genuinely tried to do good but after that went belly-up along with the corruption in the system it made her burned out and cynical. However she was able to prove herself a hero at the end of the day, which Billy thinks puts her on the right path like Starlight. He was pleasantly surprised to learn in the TV continuity A-Train has realized that Good Feels Good and has started to clean up his act In his more contemplative moments Homelander mused he to tried to be a genuine hero once, however things ended very badly. While his comic incarnation thinks more on this after learning his worst deeds were actually done by Black Noir, these thought quickly evaporate for TV Homelander. For the most part the Seven don't really care what Billy thinks or says. Billy will give a fair bit of moral support to Starlight for trying to push for genuine heroism despite the cynicism of her setting fighting back at her.

Gumbald, God of Phlebotinum-Induced Stupidity (Uncle Gumbald, Punchy the Bowl)

  • Domains: Villainy, Candy, Schemes, Stupidity, Science, Usurpers
  • Interested in: Philip J Fry
  • Allies: King Candy/Turbo, Dr Ivo "Eggman" Robotnik (AOSTH incarnation primarily), King Claudius, Scar (The Lion King), Yzma, Mojo Jojo
  • Rivals: Big Jack Horner, Gramma Stuffum
  • Enemies: Princess Bubblegum (and by extension her allies, mainly Finn and Jake), GOLB, the Lich, Jimmy Neutron, Ralph, Vanellope Von Schweetz, Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy, The Phantom Thieves of Heart, Mufasa, Simba, Hamlet, Professor Utonium and the Powerpuff Girls
  • Fears: The Brainspawn
  • Disgusted by: Dr Arthur Light
  • Frustrates: Steven Universe, and to a lesser extent Kuzco
  • Annoyed by: Billy
  • When she was young the future princess Bubblegum wanted a family to keep her and her brother Neddie company. The first Candy People she created were gum people like herself; an Uncle Gumbald, Aunt Lolly and Cousin Chica. Initially things were good, however Gumbald began disagreeing on how Bonnibel was going about developing the proto-Candy Kingdom. Disagreements on what they should do eventually led to him getting Lolly and Chica to join him in usurping her position. He made a "happy" or more accurately "dum-dum" juice that would turn people into blissfull idiots and planned to use it on her. Eventually he fell out with them and tricked them into taking the dum-dum juice. Fortunately Bubblegum was able to break the beaker of the stuff and spill it on Gumbald, reducing him to the simpleton Punchy Bowl for around 800 years. That was until the World-Healing Wave that LSP used to undo the super-charging of the elementals also restored them to their original setting. Gumbald would continue fighting his niece, building his own city called Gumbaldia and siding with Fern given his own issues. Gathering up Finn and Jake's enemies he was readying for war against the Candy Kingdom, however the four of them went on a dreamy trip to get a better perspective on their situation. Sadly, while Bonnie got an idea of the suffering Gumbald went through due to the dum-dum juice Gumbald couldn't help himself in trying to turn against her, causing Aunt Lolly to betray him and get him on the stuff again.
  • Uncle Gumbald's ascension to the Trope Pantheon wasn't exactly authorized. As Punchy the Bowl he blissfully wandered into there, catching the notice of the Grand United Alliance of Evil. You see, when they got Suguru Kamoshida in through "Operation Re-blackened Heart", it was to restore more actually useful villains that'd been forcibly altered to good or at least harmless. There were definitely better choices than Uncle Gumbald, but he's considered more a "next step" from the Creepy Gym Coach. To test this they had the help of King Candy, who has experience with a candy-themed setting, and Grandfather, a bigger, meaner Cartoon Network villain that was also reduced to a docile amnesiac state, to develop a restoration potion for his candy phyisology. With this, Uncle Gumbald had returned. While he thanked them both, Grandfather told him to get out since unless he also likes tapioca he doesn't have much to say beyond "family is complicated" and is waiting until "Operation Re-blackened Heart" can reach its full potential; Gumbald was but a step to that and someone who can distract Princess Bubblegum. King Candy actually felt they could make a good team, and Gumbald was interested in Sugar Rush and Vanellope.
  • Gumbald is still reeling over the fact he was affected by his own dum-dum juice again, having been stabbed in the back by Aunt Lolly. In fairness to her he had the opportunity to reflect on his life and make up with PB, but he didn't take it. Steven Universe was pretty frustrated by this as unlike the Lich Gumbald does have genuinely good qualities and he commiserated with PB. Steven is annoyed that he couldn't acceptthe idea that Gumbaldia and the Candy Kingdom can co-exist, though to Gumbald's credit he doesn't have any issues with Steven and actually thinks he's a nice kid. Pleasentries like these don't stop him being a him a target of the Phantom Thieves of Heart due to his unrepentent status. mind you. He sees their Heel–Face Brainwashing as not as bad as the dum-dum juice since it will allow him to keep his intellect, but he still hates the idea of it. He's smart enough not to actively antagonize them, however as a would be dictator it might be only a matter of time until they break into his Palace.
  • While he worked for him as the Green Knight, Fern has chosen not to associate with Gumbald anymore following his own revelation that came shortly before his passing in the mortal plane. For what its worth, Gumbald isn't going to pressure him into joining him a second time. After the big Villain Team-Up of different Adventure Time villains amounted to an anti-climax he's looking elsewhere for allies, and his first was King Claudius. Claudius is a more literal Evil Uncle, having killed his brother (albeit with some lingering guilt) and took the throne along with marrying his wife who he was probably carrying on an affair with previously. Gumbald and Claudius believe that their way of running things is better, and in the latter's case there's an argument he's actually a better ruler than his brother. One cannot say this about Scar, who is more interested in having power than actually utilizing it in a functional way. In terms of evil-ness PB estimates Gumbald is somewhat between the two. Though he side-eyes some of the stuff Scar's done Gumbald recognizes the ambition and desire to prove himself to the rest of his family, making him an acceptable ally. This has led to Hamlet, Mufasa and Simba opposing the gum person, though for him its strictly Nothing Personal as his emnity is reserved towards his own niece for the most part.
  • Like Princess Bubblegum, Gumbald is able to use science to create new life, and not just out of candy. One example is that he used Finn's old baby tooth as a template. The ability to make food into living monsters is something Gramma Stuffum can do, though for her it's more of a superpower than through science. Gumbald likes her ability however he doesn't like she uses such disgusting and gross food, musing "Grandfather's tapioca may not be for everyone but it's better than what you're cooking". Stuffum doesn't like the fact he uses candy as she thinks its unhealthy and not the right thing to "fatten skinny kids up", to which Gumbald thinks "she's either delusional or a Hypocrite". The two ended up forming a rivalry over their differing opinions and how they use food. Gumbald and Jack Horner also ended up forming a rivalry in their pursuit of power and magic, but also in their cooking skills. Jack thinks that pastries and savory food like his pies are better than sweets and candy, and Gumbald's own ambitions of power get in the way of his desire for world conquest. Gumbald doesn't like the idea of Jack Horner stealing the world's magic considering so many residents of Ooo have basis in magic, though still not to the extent he would ever consider asking Bonnie for help. Maybe Finn and Jake, and if its dealing with GOLB or the Lich he's going to swallow his pride. But not Jack Horner.
  • Jimmy Neutron invented a device capable of increasing or decreasing the IQ of the wearer. He once used it on himself so he could have a more average intellect to fit in more, however things went wrong and it reduced him to an idiot. Another time he tried to make his friend Sheen smart, but it made him too smart and he went on a power trip that if left unchecked would've caused his brain to grow so big his head exploded. Gumbald wants to steal his brain drain/brain gain helmet so he can increase his intellect even further and use the brain drain feature on his enemies. Another pursuit of his was to steal the Orb of Confusion from Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy; he'll have to work the kinks out so he can use it without making himself confused, but with enough time he's sure he'll accomplish it. Of course, he still has his dum-dum juice, but its specifically designed for Candy People. Candy-based organisms aren't nearly as common in the Trope Pantheon so if he wants to make other people idiots he needs other avenues.
  • Philip J Fry interests Gumbald as someone immune to the Brainspawn's stupefaction rays, which if he was made of candy would stop the dum-dum juice from doing anything to him. Gumbald doesn't want to overtly mess with Fry as he is defense against the Brainspawn, who Gumbald fears as a force that will make him stupid again. Said Brainspawn have chosen not to use their stupefaction ray on the Lich (assuming it'd even work on him) as they have shared interests. He's kind of grossed out on how and he'd rather figure out how to make a working mind without needing the Delta Brainwave through scientific means. Further research into IQ modifications led him to learn about Dr Eggman's more comical "AOSTH" iteration, as Ivo Robotnik has made a ray that can turn people stupid along with a chip that can make them smarter. Doing that to Grounder was a mistake, though. While the more serious incarnations of the good doctor are a lot more skeptical of Gumbald's usefulness, that Robotnik has decided he could do with the help.
  • Dr Light (the DC supervillain, not the roboticist) tried approaching Gumbald over potentially teaming up with him. He was also reduced to a stupider state, due to a botched mindwipe after he invaded the JLA Watchtower. He explained his light abilties could be useful and he's always wanted to take a crack at scheming in Ooo, however it didn't take long for Gumbald to channel his niece. The candy man regards Dr Light as an appalling degenerate and if he and Princess Bubblegum are going to agree on something, his IQ being dropped was well deserved. On another note, Gumbald is easily annoyed by Billy (not from his world, the one from The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy) due to his stupidity. He legitimately wonders if, were he turned into candy, the dum-dum juice would do anything, or maybe it'd be the mental equivalent of an Overflow Error error and make him smart instead. Billy did become candy once, namely chocolate...and kept eating himself until he was nothing but a head. The whole thing was just too weird for Gumbald to deal with.
  • Kuzco is in agreement with Steven Universe that it's unfortunate Gumbald wasn't able to see the light. When Gumbald asked him why he'd even ask, Kuzco explained that he used to be a flippant and frivolous emperor who only cared about number one, but after being turned into a llama and humiliated he would come to realize he was being an egotistical jerk and learn to care for people. He wishes after Bonnibel tried to reach out to him and saw what it was like to be under the influence of the dum-dum juice he'd take the hint. Gumbald wasn't always a bad guy, and he certainly isn't the worst person out there, but he still remains steadfast in his goals on revenge on PB and taking over or making his own Candy Kingdom. While they've yet to be at odds, it doesn't help that Gumbald has started working with Yzma. This isn't out of any malicious intent towards the Incan emperor, mind you, but because he and Yzma want to potion craft together. Him and Mojo Jojo are working on developing Chemical X, as he wants to use its powers to develop candy super soldiers to fight his enemies. With this in mind, he has been in conflict with the Powerpuff Girls, especially since he tried kidnapping Professor Utonium to use his research. Utonium found Gumbald a clever cookie and a good conversationalist but otherwise he's obviously not fond of the guy.

Having once been an Omnic built for the Omnic Crisis, he joined the Shambali in order to find a way for Omnics to coexist with humans, but after years of seeing his people be treated like scrap, Ramattra felt disillusioned of the Shambali and decided to form Null Sector as a way to obtain more rights for his people, until he himself became a villainous terrorist who wanted to destroy all of mankind and give a new future to the Omnics but only under his will.
  • He was happy to see that Null Sector managed to ascend into the pantheons.
  • When Zenyatta heard that Ramattra had ascended into the pantheons, he was very worried that Ramattra would start causing havoc by taking once again leadership of Null Sector, potentially destroying houses and bringing more robots into his cause. But deep down, he was also happy to see his brother once again.
  • The Overwatch deities have taken a lot of measures to fight back against the Null Sector's operations, but Ramattra has also taken his plans to the next level, raiding several houses and sending propaganda to several robots in the house of Machinery and Technology in order to bring more robots to his cause.

This has been some time coming, but here is a very early draft of the Arisen and the Pawns, with the Arisen being a hero who had their heart stolen by a dragon and now must get it back to save their humanity and the world, with the help of a race of obedient homunculi known as the Pawns. I originally wanted to post this alongside an early draft of their somewhat-Arch-Enemy Grigori, who I intend to ascend at the same time, but I'm having a bit more trouble writing a decent ascension story and interactions in general for them, so they'll be on hold from posting on the forum for a bit. I think I have picked out a decent set of interactions for these four, more than I was expecting for this, admittedly, but of course I could always do with more suggestions. Here are just a few things which could result in decent interactions:

  • Apocalypse Cults and anyone who would love for the world to be destroyed (I know about the Army of the 12 Monkeys already and there will definitely be something there, I just forgot to write them in the interactions list)
  • Jerkass Gods and powerful control-freak types similar to that
  • Brainwashers and corrupters
  • Those capable of controlling monsters and turning them evil
  • Any other potential interaction advice would be welcome

Also, I couldn't find a good image of these four together, so if anyone can find one I would be thankful if you put it in my sandbox under this profile, or send it to me on the Pantheon Discord if you have that. Bonus points if you can get one for both the original game and the sequel. Thanks!

To assist in their journey, members of a kind of homunculi known commonly as "Pawns", who are driven by the Arisen's willpower and motivation, come from another dimension to help them defeat the monsters and trials in their path, and eventually the dragon itself, to save the world from its tyranny. Many Arisen's have come and gone over the ages, though very few get to actually learn the true origins of the cycle's origins, which varies depending on the world. In its first iteration, the cycle was perpetuated by the Seneschal, a former Arisen who eventually became the god of their world, and continually send out great dragons (themselves former Arisens who were defeated by them in a final battle) to find someone to replace them. In another version of events, the cycle was created by the god-like being known as the Pathfinder for unknown reasons, but this Pathfinder would end up keeping this cycle going on for so long in an attempt to keep control over the world, so much so that even the dragon who was supposed to be serving him grew tired of it. In both of these cases, one specific hero and their pawns would eventually defeat both of these beings for good and stop the cycle, albet at the cost of their own lives.
  • This hero's story of being a part of an endless cycle of battling monsters and dragons, all while never giving their quest up and having the determination to kill even divinities attracted the attention of Guts, the Black Swordsman, who had been watching their two journeys and was impressed with the hero and their pawn's tenacity in a dark world, which reminded him of his own quest in a way, facing off against the demonic Apostles. He motioned for the Court of the Gods to accept them into the Pantheon as a deity. The trope he vouched them for? Character Customization, his reasoning being that the ability to deeply customize not only the hero but also their main companion throughout their journey being one of the most praised elements of their home series. The Court unanimously agreed to Guts' propositions, albeit with a few alterations: the Arisen would be revived with the memories of two of their journeys, both of them being their first and second game outings. The entire pawn legion would also share a title with them, though per the rules of their own universe, only three at a time could join them during their travels, including their Main Pawn. And thus, the great Arisen had their soul revived in the House of Life and Vitality and given all the refurbishments of a newly Ascended deity, including a reunion with their pawns. And thus, they were sent to the House of Gaming Characters where their official ascension ceremony would be held and their residential Hall decided.
    • During this ascension party, however, an unexpected development happened: A mysterious blue portal opened up in the skies of the House, and a massive red dragon-like being flew out of it. Turns out, the enemy most famously associated with them, the Wyrm itself, had followed them into this new Pantheon dimension that they had found themselves in. His arrival resulted in many of the less intelligent members of the House of Beasts and Fauna and Otherness to turn crazed and get drawn to the Arisen's ascension ceremony and attack everyone there, not the least of which being the Arisen themselves. Thankfully, given the Arisen and their pawns previous expertise in fighting monsters, as well as assistance from other skilled warriors who happened to be in attendance such as the Monster Hunters, they were able to fend off the monsters until the Guardians of the Beasts and Fauna came together to round up the members driven crazy, and a spell cast on them so that their minds would not be affected by the Dragon's presence in the Pantheon. A few minutes afterwards, the Dragon would appear straight in front of the Arisen and their pawns, and oddly, he would end up giving a congratulations to them for being able to stop the cycle back in the mortal realms, something which he failed to do as a fallen Arisen. But now that they have found themselves in the Pantheon, he was intent on testing both of their skills in familiarizing themselves in their new realm, and that they would one day meet again. And thus, their Dragon flew off to the House of Prophecy and Fate, who would claim the title of The Chooser of the One from the retired deity Aladdin the Magi and their words still ringing in the Arisen's ears.
  • The House of Gaming Characters was extremely impressed at the Arisen's skill for fending off the hordes of monsters that came after the Dragon ascended with them, particularly the two good-aligned members Koudelka Iasant and Solaire of Astora. They worked together to petition the Court of the Gods to let them be elected as a fifth Guardian of the House, and they cited their trope Character Customization to strengthen their argument, as neither of the four current Guardians really represented that aspect of characters in gaming. • Spring had come to the American West, and a small sprite was helping the plants bloom after a long winter. But when she neared a dormant volcano, the plants refused to grow. Curious, the sprite ascended the mountain and entered its crater, discovering a massive stone figure at the centre. She reached up to touch the figure… and accidentally awakened a slumbering beast. A gigantic bird-like being, made of lava and fire, rose from its resting place, ready to unleash its fury upon the world. The Spring Sprite, astonished and terrified, fled from the living inferno. The Firebird gave chase, burning everything in its path and transforming the forest into Hell on Earth. Eventually, the Firebird caught up to the Forest Spirit, trapping her atop a charred tree, before going in for the kill… or so it seemed. The Firebird faded away, leaving behind a land of ash and death. As for the Spring Sprite, she regained her strength, bringing life back to the forest, and making it more lush and magnificent.
  • The Firebird’s ascension was truly a momentous event. One day, a mountain in a remote part of the Pantheon suddenly erupted, unleashing a wave of destruction that annihilated everything in its path, mortal and deity alike. The survivors described the event as a column of fire in the shape of a dark phoenix, rising from a grave it was not destined for. Fortunately, the Spring Sprite ascended shortly after, and with her arrival, came her mass regeneration wave, restoring the damage wrought about by the Firebird. Because of this incident, the Firebird was furious that all of its hard work was undone and swore to hunt down and kill her so it could continue its work. Ever since, the two have been at odds, constantly coming into conflict in a cycle of life, death and rebirth.
  • The Firebird has no temple. Instead, it resides within the mountain it first erupted from in its home world. It bears a striking resemblance to Mount St. Helens, which erupted on May 18th, 1980, killing approximately 57 people and is widely regarded as the most disastrous volcanic eruption in U.S. history. Mortals are forbidden from visiting the mountain, but a small shrine was placed near the crater, as a way to appease the Firebird whenever it is dormant. Only a few deities are bold enough to visit the shrine, with the summoner Yuna being a regular visitor to calm the living inferno. Results have been slow though; one cannot simply tame a raging volcano.
  • Following its ascension to the Pantheon, the Firebird went on a rampage in the House of Nature, destroying everything in sight. Its efforts were halted by the Gaea and the Nature Preservers, who quelled the fiend after a brutal battle, while the Spring Sprite quickly handled the restoration effort. The Firebird was sealed away, but Gaea knows it’s only a matter of time before it awakens again. And speaking of time, the Psychic/Grass type Pokémon Celebi had earned the ire of the Firebird, due to its similarities to the Spring Sprite. It helps to restore any damage the bird causes and has even used its time-travelling abilities to warn the Nature Preservers of any impending volcanic doom.
  • The Firebird isn’t necessarily evil. It is a force of nature; a destructive one, but it has no true morality. From the destruction it brings upon the world, new life will emerge, greater than what came before. Another deity with a similar disposition to the Firebird is Lord Beerus, who destroys old planets so new worlds can emerge and prosper. He keeps an eye on the fire spirit because he doesn’t want it to run amok on the Pantheon. After all, Beerus doesn’t want to lose his ice cream to the Firebird. Similarly, the planet-eating Galactus also understands the Firebird’s role in the grand scheme of things, as he fulfills the same death-bringing role as Beerus. Both entities respect the Firebird for its role and only wish that others came to a similar feeling.
    • That being said, that doesn’t mean others haven’t desired to use the Firebird for their evil plans. Ragnaros the Firelord took a liking to the Firebird because of its tremendous power, association with fire and destructive nature, and offered it a position as a majordomo. The Firebird refused, much to the relief of the entire Pantheon, but only because it didn’t like being tied down to anyone, but Ragnaros will still summon it on occasion. Through Ragnaros, it was introduced to the dragon, Deathwing. Deathwing approached it with caution because he was also an embodiment of lava and destruction in his home world, and thus was equally as powerful as the Firebird. The three-way alliance between Deathwing, Ragnaros and the Firebird earned them all the scorn of many ascended gods from the Warcraft universe, except for Deathwing's son Nefarian.
    • This alliance also led to Kael'thas Sunstrider learning of the Firebird's existence, with the elf wondering if he could summon the Firebird as his servant similar to how he could summon his pet phoenix A'lar. However, Kael'thas has had to exercise caution, due to the Firebird's destructive capacity after awakening.
  • It isn't well-liked by the deities of life and death, as they feel the Firebird’s methods are, to put it bluntly, excessive. This is especially intense with Jean Grey-Summers, and Hope Summers to an extent, as their powers are derived through the Phoenix Force, and they don’t like to be reminded of its destructive power. Interestingly, despite its lack of morality, the Firebird’s rampages caused a few issues with the Death of the Discworld. He wasn’t too happy at its constant eruptions, resulting in many of the hourglasses in his collection running dry and making him work overtime. Death is a pleasant guy, but even he doesn’t like others forcing him to do so much extra work. He’s been helping the Nature Preservers contain the Firebird, by using a special hourglass that runs on “volcanic time.” Once the eruption ends, the Firebird returns to stone and is sealed away. Sadly, it’s a short-term solution; the Firebird will always return and the hourglass will start once again.
  • The Sun goddess Amaterasu also dislikes The Firebird, even fighting it in her white wolf form once when it awoke from its slumber. In her eyes, the Firebird is a danger if anyone takes control of it, and helps the Spring Sprite and Yuna to keep it under control. The Firebird’s presence has left anyone who faced death by fire in their home worlds naturally terrified. Seita and his younger sister Setsuko were among them, having lost their home and mother during the 1945 firebombing of Kobe. The siblings don’t want to see the beast unleashed upon the Pantheon and destroy everything they’ve met and seen.
  • Fire Lord Zuko dislikes the Firebird because it embodies some of the worst aspects of the Fire Nation; notably their destructive past and dark corruption of fire manipulation. Having learned the true way of firebending from the last dragons, Zuko vowed never to bring about the same carnage as the Firebird, even calling upon his friend Avatar Aang for help. Unfortunately, its methods brought up memories of Ozai, who lay a path of destruction upon the Earth Kingdom when Sozin’s Comet returned. Having learned of the Firebird, Ozai sought to use it to reclaim the throne, despite Zuko and Aang warning him against doing so.
    • On that note, Zuko’s sister Azula became interested in the Firebird, after she learned about it from Ragnaros. Unlike her maniacal father, the disgraced Princess is more cautious. She knows how powerful the bird can be, and doesn’t want to destroy her enemies by waking it up. Instead, she’s playing the long game; analyzing the Firebird and waiting for the perfect opportunity to unleash its fire upon the world.
  • Fire is an element of death and destruction but also one of life and warmth. The House of Fire and Heat have mixed feelings regarding the Firebird. Surtr, King of the fire giants, feels a sense of kinsmanship with the Firebird and wishes to use it with Ragnaros’ help when Ragnarök begins anew. Meanwhile, the fire dragon Alexstrasza understands the purpose of the Firebird’s destruction but cannot bring itself to justify its actions. She opposes the fire spirit, as does Charlie McGee, who fears what might happen if the Department of Scientific Intelligence ever gets their hands on such a creature.
  • Some men just want to see the world burn, and to them, the Firebird presents the perfect opportunity to fulfill their desires. SCP-457, a being whose whole existence is to burn, has been sighted during the Firebird’s rampages, burning anything the bird has missed. Then there’s Aerys Targaryen, also known as “The Mad King”. His obsession with burning people alive, coupled with his incredible cruelty, had already made people fearful of their former king, and the idea of him using an almighty fire spirit to wipe out his enemies sent shivers down their spines. For the ascended members of House Lannister, Ser Jaime in particular, it brought back memories of killing Aerys, and how the king planned on using Wildfire to destroy King’s Landing and everyone in it. Thankfully, Aerys’ daughter Daenerys has no interest in using the Firebird… she already has three dragons to do the job for her.
  • Nekros and the Lich are fascinated by the Firebird, due to shared feelings of destruction but snuffing out any life that might return to the area they destroyed. They only wished that the creature was as evil as they were. As a result, they’ve tried to possess it, to sway it to their side in exchange for eternal destruction by destroying the Spring Sprite. But they have yet to achieve their goals. The Firebird is a force of nature, and nothing, not even a volcanic eruption, can last forever. On top of that, life must always come after death, so the Spring Sprite will survive, no matter how hard the villains may try. To deal with this, The Lich requested the help of Master Orc, a former human-turned nature-destroying entity with quite the reputation to his name. He was eager to help eliminate the Spring Sprite but the Nature Preservers, with help from Captain Planet, have been dealing with them all so far.
  • Despite being bird-shaped entities able to bring death upon the world, Yveltal and the Firebird hold nothing but contempt for one another. Like the Firebird, Yveltal remains dormant for long periods, only to awaken and absorb the life force of everything in the preceding area. But the Firebird has gone out of its way to try and destroy the Legendary Pokémon, wiping out areas to an extent that even Yveltal would consider excessive. Luckily, its counterpart Xerneas will come along to restore life to areas damaged by the dark phoenixes, which only fueled the fire spirit’s destructive fury. Their conflict caught the attention of Lysandre, the leader of Team Flare. He believes the Firebird could be used to power the Ultimate Weapon and seeks to find a way to contain it.
    • Yveltal is not the only Pokemon in the Pantheon that resembles the mythical Phoenix. Two Fire-type legendaries, Moltres and Ho-Oh, dislike the Firebird due to its destructive habits. Moltres will fight it to protect its territory, with help from its partner, Fujiwara no Mokou, who was able to keep the beast at bay for some time. Ho-Oh on the other hand, has little time for the Firebird, instead tasking the Legendary Beasts to quell its wrath… Surprisingly, the Pokémon with the biggest beef with the Firebird is Groudon. Sometimes, whenever the Firebird awakens and goes on a rampage, it disturbs Groudon from its slumber, sending it into a Primal fury. The two have clashed and nearly destroyed a good portion of the Pantheon. It took the efforts of multiple parties note  to quell them. Ever since, Gaea has kept a close eye on any sort of volcanic activity, to ensure neither Groudon nor the Firebird are disturbed.
  • Dinosaurs don’t do well around volcanos. It is a common belief that the lands of the Mesozoic Era were riddled with active volcanoes, threatening the lives of the animals at that time.note  In the Pantheon, the resident deified dinosaurs fear the Firebird’s volcanic destruction. Littlefoot and his friends have faced their fair share of natural disasters, but never one that could hunt them down with murderous intent. Elsewhere, Little Das the Daspletosaurus fears the Firebird greatly and flees whenever it awakens. It doesn’t help that Das and his family were victims of a volcanic eruption 75 million years ago, so perhaps the wrath of the spirit brings back painful memories of his death.
  • With its massive size and incredible power it’s not surprising that some in the Pantheon have compared the Firebird to a Kaiju. But its relationship with the famous giant monsters is somewhat complicated. The Firebird gets along well with Rodan, a massive pterosaur-like being who often emerges from volcanoes to wreak havoc upon the world. Both have been seen causing issues for the Pantheon in the past, but they’ve been stopped by the King of the Monsters itself, Godzilla. The relationship between these two is even more complicated. Godzilla often fights other monsters seeking to disrupt the natural order, but it will cause significant damage and death whenever he goes. The Firebird doesn’t mind Godzilla, but the two have fought quite a few times, leaving behind smouldering ashes and radioactive wastelands in their wake. Such is the way with monsters.
