Welcome to the Trope Pantheons thread! Please read the rules:

    Rules
Rules. The following are not suggestions or tips, but things that have to be followed:
  • When writing a profile, take note of the following:
    • Gods cannot be followers or high priests for obvious reasons. The 'gods' have ascended meaning there is no need for said character to be a follower of another if they have ascended.
    • No hype profiles, please. 'Hype Profiles' are profiles that have been made out of ongoing events and have not been around for a long time. This creates 'hype' due to popularity and certain elements either through certain scenes, memes, dramatic acting or considered overly awesome. They are not bad tropes but building a portfolio solely for that is a bad idea, as they do not say a thing about representing the trope best (unless it's those trope concepts that they are trying to embody for a long time)
      • You can see one if the profile is only showing off how awesome they are or suddenly pushing how 'significant' they are thanks to the just very recent events rather than respecting the longstanding good representations of the trope. And usually having... minimum portfolio or flavor texts and being a bit too generalized or self-contained to events from within their home series instead of interacting with other Pantheon members.
  • When posting in the forum, take note of the following:
    • When you suggest a God, please explain why they fit the trope. Not everyone is going to understand just "X should be the God of Y because they exemplify the trope" off the bat, especially if they're unfamiliar with the work.
    • You must use the Trope Pantheons discussion thread in the forums if you wish to add a new deity, story, something else of importance to the Trope Pantheon canon, or reworking an existing deity (be it simply improving their existing profile or changing their title).
      • For new and reworked deities, 3 [tup] means the profile will have a one week waiting period.
      • For new and reworked deities, 4 [tup] is a 3 day waiting period.
      • 5 [tup] is an automatic ascension for new and reworked deities.
      • Speaking of reworks, for anyone that wants to improve such profiles, they have to review the current trope the character(s) has and see if it still holds up or if there is a better rep for their trope.
    • For adding new Treasures to The Great Treasury or new Dominions to the Dominions, the following rules apply:
      • For new Treasures or Dominions, 3 [tup] is a 3 day waiting period.
      • 4 [tup] is an automatic addition to the Great Treasury or Dominions.
    • Do not repost a profile in the forums more than twice in a day if noticeable changes have not been made in between. If a profile is posted a third time in a row without noticeable alterations, it will be downvoted. This is so spamming of no-effort profiles is less frequent and to prevent tropers from getting aggravated seeing the same profile over and over. The minimum acceptable change has to be a single flavour text.
    • The Pantheon is not a mouthpiece for you to voice your opinions on certain characters. You may like certain characters more than others, but do not make the mistake of making profiles for characters you like look like Character Shilling.
    • Tropers new to the Pantheon are barred from approving or downvoting profiles until they have ascended at least two profiles.
    • Do not include fan reception in any profiles. It has nothing to do with the character themselves and will create unnecessary conflict.
    • Write a detailed explanation on why the character is the best candidate for deity of that trope. If people disagree with you, do not force it on the people.
    • Keep in mind that if you still want to try to find a trope for a particular character, you are only given three chances to find a particular trope for them. If a suggestion goes past three possible tropes, then it will come off as shoehorning a character into the Pantheon just for the sake of that character to be there.
      • On a related note, even if a character does have a free trope being suggested, there is still a limit of three attempts for suggesting that character for that trope. If no one responds to that certain proposal after being posted three times, then it will get to the point where the idea will be seen as being shoehorned into the Pantheon. In addition, the idea needs to be considered acceptable and approved because they are good, not for the sake of pitying others because no one is responding to their idea.
  • When posting Pantheon related stuff to the wiki, take note of the following:
    • Do not put a link to these Pantheon pages into the main wiki page. The moment you want to add in a main Characters page that the character is a God of this trope, do not do it. If you see leftovers of this practice, inform the forum and use the cutlist. This also goes to the Trivia page. The only exception to this rule is if a page in the Pantheon could be confused for a page in Main, like Good Colors, Evil Colors and Good and Evil Colors.
    • Rule of Cautious Editing Judgment ALSO applies here. Do not bring things that would incite fights, even if it is what is currently the hot topic and might be 'urgent'. For example, the political scene and some really bad politicians. We are not here to fight at each other, so don't suggest things that go to that direction, this is a fictional Pantheon after all.
    • To add a Pantheon page for a certain work, 4 or more characters coming from the same series/franchise should be ascended before adding the page. For Creator specific pages, 4 deities coming from the same creator and 2 individual work pages coming from the same creator is the minimum to warrant a page.
    • Do not create a trope page for a story until the story is fully completed.

    Instructions and Tips
Here are some tips one should keep in mind when editing:

  • Preparing to write:
    • First thing to do before present a profile is to go to the Trope Pantheons discussion thread. In the forums, you must discuss with other users on adding ideas and seek their approval with sound reasoning. You can also get some assistance in the forum thread by either asking for help and those interested asking if they can help. Submissions that are added without discussion are likely to be deleted and those who violate those rules by adding Pantheon content without discussion will get reported to the mods.
    • If you feel the need to remove a character for some reason (poor quality, outdated titles, etcetera) and replace him/her with another or outright rework, please see what the other tropers think about this in the discussion thread before doing anything hasty. Use good reasoning to see if your idea can easily replace the character present without drawing out your statement or giving too ambiguous claims most do not understand.
    • Please be sure to consult others in the discussion about what you want to work before making the profile. This is done to see if your proposal is the best representative and so, in case your profile is turned down, you do not waste time writing something that others might not find suitable.
      • In the same vein, if you adopt a profile from another troper, it is recommended that you make an announcement that you have done so on the discussion thread. More often than not, a trope that was reserved for something was given away to someone else. Check the Related tab on the top of a page to see if a trope or character has been reserved by a user.
    • If, for whatever reason, you are writing about a God who just happens to be a person in real life, just try to be very careful about what you decide to say. Do not try to make the editing seem too meta (self-referential) and use the aformentioned creativity to create hypothetical scenarios towards fictional characters.
  • When writing a profile for a character, here are a few things to note:
    • All deities should be sorted by their divine ranking. Put Overdeities on the top of the page and Quasideities on the bottom. Also be sure to add them in alphabetical order by their first/given name (can be reversed if it is Eastern ordered). For a group, if there is no official name for them all list down all their names by order of relevance or (if too long to list) title them as Insert Name Here Main Characters or some other identifiable title along the same lines.
    • The maximum number of tropes that a god can have is two, but do not try to abuse that fact. If you need to use a second trope to specify a certain thing about their position, that can be excused either because said character represents their trope choice very well alongside the first trope. It is still generally encouraged to only have one trope.
    • A trope can only belong to one profile at a time. The only time two profiles can share a trope is if there are explicit variations listed in the trope page proper (e.g. Muscle Angst is held by both Biscuit Krueger and Chihiro Fujisaki as the former represents "Too Much Muscle" and the latter represents "Not Enough Muscle")
    • If the character you are about to add to a House already exists in another, make sure to mention that this person has spots in other House as well. Up to 2 places can be made for a deity, with the sole exceptions being those at the Main House to highlight those characters’ importance to the Pantheon’s lore.
    • For a character's theme song, try to avoid calling it "Theme of God X" or "Theme of (Show where God X originates from)". If possible, try to find out if the song has an actual name through research. Most importantly, it has to be part their series’ official soundtracks from media. Do not list songs that are made by fans or outside sources. If they were not specifically used as music for that specific character, then they do not count. Furthermore, it has to be a general theme specifically made for that characters’ appearances, not some generic music that plays for many other instances not related to the character in question.
    • For images, when adding an image for your chosen character, it is highly recommended to use a stylized image that embodies the character or renders that also highlights a character’s behavior (such as cool poses). Most images should be from the main adaptations of the character, unless the images from the other media are of a higher quality than the adaptation. Unless it is needed, do not use fanart for images. If you are, please attribute to the original artist. Due to the website’s dark mode, removing white backgrounds from an image is paramount. This website is suggested to do the background removal. If an image you have takes up too much bytes, it is suggestible to use this site to reduce the byte size. If the byte is still too big, put the compressed image to other sites (or even the same one) to compress even further. Use wikias to look for better images, as even wikias for the series might not contain good official images.
    • Creativity is your friend. While it is not recommended to get too ditzy at your ideas, it is best that when writing a profile for a certain character, do you think of capable scenarios between X and Y. Tip: do not use shallow examples (X wields a sword and Y wields one too) and try to think of relationships that makes sense (i.e those characters that are shout-outs for another).
  • Pantheon Content:
    • Some series or genres will eventually have greater representation in the Pantheon than others. This is unavoidable, but a little diversity helps to make you not look like a shill per say. Try to ensure that if you add a deity from a popular series, make sure that it is because they are a good representative for the trope in question, and not just because they are connected to another deity in their respective canon.
      • As far as deities from actual mythologies, there is generally expectation to build the profiles off interactions from fictional portrays rather than basing it entire from the actual myth. Therefore, a mythological deity should be more of a Composite Character whose main identity is from the actual myth.
    • Occasionally there will be Gods that carry a title without a trope. This is not forbidden, but it is well advised not to abuse them. The only house that a tropeless profile are wholly allowed is the House of Food. Mainly due to most food items lacking tropes, and adding tropes about said foodstuffs is slightly unnecessary. However, the character being ascended for their choice of a food, or food-related thing must be a decently good representative of said item. (i.e their Trademark Favorite Food, or something that they are closely associated with In-Universe, or both).
    • For Dominions and Treasures profiles, always consider what made those places/objects popular in the first place. Were they plot-important, identifiable imagery or have a unique aspect of it? Do not just bring regular objects under the basis of following a certain canon.
  • For Profile Standards:
    • Flavor text is used to describe certain things about a character, place or object. To avoid short ones, it is recommended to write flavor text with 4-7 sentences that can fill around 2 lines each. Be warned that adding too many sentences does not equal good flavor text as it is not an essay of sorts (unless words are substantial and do add to the overall line).
    • Character Profiles of a certain person should have the following:
      • A portfolio that contains at least 7 (at the minimum) tropes describing their character.
      • Flavor text count for a deity profile should have by minimum, 10 (depending if the character in question has enough relationships/characterization) to 15 with a maximum of 20-25 for an individual profile.
      • On the other hand, group profiles (profiles of a group that has 4 or more members) have their maximum flavor text count to 15 minimum, giving individual lines for the other members of the group (unless the members are not as characterized) up to 30 at max.
    • Dominion profiles of a certain place should have the following:
      • A portfolio that contains at least 5 (at the minimum) tropes describing the context of the place.
      • Flavor text count should range at least 10 to 15.
    • Treasure profiles (inanimate objects without a trope) should have the following:
      • A portfolio that contains at least 6 (at the minimum) tropes that describes the object itself.
      • Flavor text count should be at least 7 flavor text up to 12 to constitute a treasure profile.

    Divine Ranking System
  • Overdeity: Omnipotent-level Reality Warpers capable of manipulating the entire universe (or at least the world) at will. Within their own universe they are believed to be omnipotent, or at least impossible-to-completely-destroy embodiments or concepts.
  • Greater Gods: High-level Reality Warpers and that are extremely powerful (capable of destroying or changing anywhere from a large city to a planet at will) and very strong non-reality warpers capable of doing the same thing.
  • Intermediate Gods: Deities at this level are capable of strong but specialized powers such as hydrokinesis, pyrokinesis, etc. without major drawbacks and low level Reality Warpers capable of affecting their immediate area at will.
  • Lesser Gods: Capable of highly specific or little power on their own, or suffer from Power at a Price. However, they may be able to ruthlessly exploit their power or combine it with just being badass enough to make up for it.
  • Demigods: Basically the Badass Normals of the pantheon, making up for their lack of abilities with strength, strategy, and/or planning.
  • Quasideities: Any otherwise normal human, human equivalent, or below without any special powers or training will fall here.

    Templates
Template for adding a new deity:

God X, God/dess of (Insert Trope Here) (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)

  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Rank: This can range from Quasideity, Demigod, Lesser God, Intermediate God, Greater God, to Overdeity, based on representation of power mentioned above.
  • Symbol: An image or icon used to represent the deity.
  • Theme Song: Official song (in other words, no fan music, regardless of quality) that usually is used in affiliation with the character. If the deity is a musician this will most likely be their Signature Song. If possible, give a link for reference, preferably on either a website like Soundcloud or YouTube.
  • Alignment: Good, evil, neutral etc. Forget about The Great Character Alignment Debate here, the Pantheon is one of the few places where you can assign Dungeons & Dragons alignment to characters that don't have alignment system. After all, the Pantheon is based on D&D and is made for fun.
  • For Pokémon deities only:
    • Gender: Defines the gender of the Pokémon; if genderless, it instead defines what gender they identify as.
    • Ability: Provides the Pokémon's ability. If they can Mega Evolve, the new ability is listed as well.
    • Moves: Defines the four moves used by a Pokémon. A Z-Move may also be listed.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the character.
  • Domains: Things that the character has influence over.
  • Herald: Non-ascended loyal character that is from the same series as the ascended character.
  • High Priest: Non-ascended like heralds, but not from the same series, and can serve as a worthy replacement in case something would happen. They can be served as part-time workers in case the originals are busy with some jobs. Co-Godhood is accepted depending on the approval of the originals, usually if the co-deity is from the same series.
  • Followers: Non-ascended characters that are not part of the Pantheon, but would probably worship this character by the fact that they share the ascended character's trope.
  • Relationships between ascended characters go here with your chosen character, it goes something like this:
    • Allies: Members of the Pantheon that are allies, those that share the same values as them and would theoretically be friends with them.
    • Rivals: Members of the Pantheon that are rivals, people who may look at your character with suspicion or a challenge.
    • Enemies: Members of the Pantheon that are foes, those who would see your chosen character as a threat, either on their pespective or yours.
    • Additional Character Relationships: Members of the Pantheon that do not fit in various relationships (examples include Enemy Mine, Vitriolic Best Buds, Teeth-Clenched Teamwork, Headbutting Heroes, Friendly Enemy, Friendly Rival, Just Friends, etc.), allies, rivals, or enemies.
    • Partner: Defines a partnership with an ascended deity and Mon-type. (if any)
    • Feared by/Fears: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon notably fear or are feared by.
    • Respected by/Respects: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon respect or are respected by.
    • Opposed by/Opposes: Not necessarily the same as "Enemies", but this is used for any deity whom the members of the Pantheon directly opposes or is opposed by (basically the opposite of "Respects") terms of certain viewpoints, regardless of alignment.
    • Pitied by/Pities: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon feel pity for or are found pitiable by.
    • Conflicting Opinion: Sometimes, the Deities argue over specific themes and philosophies.
  • Add the Intro. The intro is made up of two trivia, the Ascension Text (or just the Ascension) and The Bio. Both are necessary, but which order you use for them may vary depending on the profile in question. It may be better for one profile to have The Bio first and the Ascension second or vice-versa, although for the most part the order is irrelevant:
    • The Ascension Text: This the story of how the character got into the Pantheon and/or was ascended. There are many ways for this to happen. They may be tricked into it or have simply wandered into the Pantheon, they may have had an already ascended character bring them in, they may already be in the Pantheon (via being another deity's Herald or sharing a trope) and got "promoted", or some combination of the above. Anything is possible in the Pantheon, so use your imagination, but try to incorporate their trope into the story, if possible.
    • The Bio: A brief synopsis on the character's backstory. No need for the character's entire life/production history, but just give enough that those who don't know the character can get an idea of how the character works.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple of more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Deities/Characters is 10-15 (15-20 for group profiles) at minimum to 20-25 (30 for group profiles) at maximum.

Template for Dominions profiles:

Place X, Place of (Insert Trope Here) (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)

  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Theme Song (Optional): Not important as compared to Deity and Dominion profiles but a notable mention if there is an accompanying song in use with the object.
  • Alignment: Refers to the dominion's role in their story, be it those used by villains or used by the Player Character.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the dominion.
  • Domains: Things that the place has links to.
  • Relationships (Optional): Unless the location has a connection with a specific deity, relationships are optional and may not be required. However, if there are deities linked to the same series as where the dominion is linked to, note them using the relationships, this includes deities that theoretically have interest with said dominion, good or evil otherwise.
  • Add the Intro. Here the introduction of the Dominion is added with some tidbits regarding the origins of its' creation and usage in the story. You can also add what made it popular/iconic/important here.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple of more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Dominions is 10 at minimum to 15 at maximum.

Template for Treasure profiles:

The name of the item in here (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)

  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Appearance: A shortened description of the item's looks with some notable features also mentioned.
  • Class: Refer to the Treasure Classification System in the Great Treasury.
  • Alignment: Refers to the objects' role in their story, be it those used by villains or used by the Player Character.
  • Theme Song (Optional): Not important as compared to Deity and Dominion profiles but a notable mention if there is an accompanying song in use with the object.
  • Museum Check: A note that says whether the item is viewable by the public.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the item.
  • Domains: Things that the item has links to.
  • Relationships (Optional): Unless the item has a connection with a specific deity, relationships are optional and may not be required. However, if there are deities linked to the same series as where the item is linked to (especially the original owner of the item), note them using the relationships, this includes deities that theoretically have interest with said object, good or evil otherwise.
  • Add the Intro. Here the introduction of the Treasure is added with some tidbits regarding the origins of its' creation and usage in the story. You can also add what made it popular/iconic/important here.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple of more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Treasures is 7 at minimum to 12 at maximum.

Is it me or has this been a slow week?

Added a bit more to the imp. I am looking for ways you guys think Mxy would try to match wits in his regular trickster-like ways to worthy opponents mentioned.

  • Ambivalent towards: Jon Osterman/Dr Manhattan
  • In Superman's Rogues Gallery, you will never find someone with the phenomenal cosmic powers tied with a sense of whimsy and playfulness as you will with Mister Mxyzptlk. A jester and magical imp from the Fifth Dimension on the planet Zrfff, he's typicall just jester, a comedian and everyman on his home turf.. But due to the 5th dimension's higher nature, he comes off as a god-like Reality Warper in the third dimension. Rather than anything outright evil like most of Superman's villains, he's content with pranking and messing with the Man of Steel. He can make the universe his clay but prefers to match wits with him by causing (relatively) harmless chaos. For a win condition, you have to get him him to say, spell, write, or otherwise communicate his own name backwards. So have him say "Ktlpzyxm" and he'll be gone for 90 days. He does have a sense of honor and respect behind his clownish behavior, making him more of a Friendly Enemy.
  • Mr Mxyzptlk is relatively unique in that he isn't a specific version that ascended to the Trope Pantheon; all versions of the imp, unless specifically stated otherwise, are the same guy. His pestering of the Man of Steel spans the multiverse. Surprisingly, one mortal did the math and found this actually holds up. And because he can break the fourth wall with ease, he knows what the Trope Pantheon is. He came on his own accord to meet up and mess around with others, and there's no way he's gonna let Superman be where without him. Though Superman finds him annoying, they don't have much in the way of hard feelings and Mxy considers him his worthiest adversary. Second worthiest is Supergirl, who was a victim of his pranks during her early career. Some things he did include temporarily amping power levels up and removed her weakness to Kryptonite to humiliate Superman,, depowered her, repowered her, lured her into a future century where everyone had been brainwashed into hating her, tried to get married to her (don't ask), banished her and Batgirl to other dimension and pretended to be her enemy Black Flame pretending be Supergirl as a part of a convoluted scheme to prank Superman and Batman (again, don't ask).
    • His relationship with Superman got a little strained when he was tricked by the mysterious Mr. Oz into being captured along with countless other heroes and villains. He figured Superman would rescue him once he stopped his regular visits, but when that didn't happen, he made his own escape and decided to steal Superman's son as his new best friend. To challenge Mxy's attempts, Superman challenged him to a game, where the winner gets to keep John. It was a back and forth contest where Mxy almost won several times, but ultimately the love of the Superfamily managed to merge his 2 halves back together and reclaim John. Mxy, as part of the game, agreed to go "far away" for a while, but he's fairly certain that Batmite and Gsptlsnz can keep him amused for now. And besides, he'd always be game for another game eventually.
  • Where exactly Mr Mxyzptlk stands in the Fifth Dimension is often Depending on the Writer. In his original appearance, he was basically a nobody on Zrfff. Back in the Golden Age of Comics, it was Mr Mxyztplk. He's got a bombshell of a wife in Ms Gsptlsnz, though as they're both higher dimensional shapeshifters they could just prefer those appearances. On that note, he thinks Roger and Jessica Rabbit are a cute couple. Originally it was suggested the Golden and Silver Age Mxy were counterparts though with the "all Mxys are the same guy" reveal it's possible this could be just "fifth-dimensional weirdness"note . Supes once managed to get to the Fifth Dimension and cause trouble for him on his home turf. He let Luthor use red kryptonite so long as he didn't reveal his involvement. Earlier in his timeline he used to be a serious minded researcher, but in order to complete a Stable Time Loop Young Justice they inspired within him a sense of humor via a Three Stooges bit. He was happy to meet them in the Trope Pantheon and thank them for the laughs. He's been experimenting with his look recently by looking like a Supreme Kai.
  • There are a few Mxys that are clearly not the same guy, but they're the exception rather than the rule and the main Mxyzptlk is well aware of their antics. Chiefly his Antimatter Universe counterpart Mixyezpitellik, a serious-minded and neatly dressed Reality Warper. He hates being compared to Mxyzptlk, calling him a "madcap imp". There's also a Bizarro Mxyzptlk made as a result of a Bizarro duplication ray, who's interested in creating order and usually pretty dour. Mxyzptlk jokes that they're somehow the same guy as only a Bizarro of him could be so humorless. Mr Mxyzptlk claims that Loki, Anansui and the Coyote are in fact just him under an alias but since he's from the DC Universe this is suspect. For what it's worth he gets along with Loki, seeing him as a kindred spirit if significantly more ambitious than him. The god of mischief decided to prank Thor by having Mxy disguise himself as Loki and the real Loki trying to "clear his name", keeping the act up until he gets bored and betrays him by working with his "imposter".
  • Well aware of Marvel Comics, when he showed up Post-Crisis he initially went under the alias "Ben deRoy as a nod to the Beyonder. When the Beyonder ascended the two formally met and became friends since they enjoy playing with their phenomenal cosmic power. And yes, that is a reference to the Genie. In the DC Universe, genies are often Fifth Dimensional imps, and his ilk have inspired other whimsical beings like leprechauns. He and the Genie enjoy stand up, however the Genie thinks Mxy can be a real jerk and while Mxyzptlk usually reverses the damage he does, he has killed. Still, he got a good chuckle over Mxyzptlk disguising himself as Iago and messing with Jafar by tempting him with great power only to put him in the Thousand And One Nights book and figure out how to get out. Afterwards he went after Hoopa and tried to test himself by summoning a bunch of legendaries and see if Hoopa Unbound can send them back with his rings. He's come to like the little scamp and decided to make another Pokemon his partner, that being the tricky and goofy Blacephalon.
  • His true form is incomprehensible to third dimensional beings; being an imp is simply his preferred form to interact with them and not expose the Eldritch Abomination he really is. His true, secret imp name is unpronounceable...though the Joker would argue otherwise. Much like Rumpelstiltskin, knowing his true name gives you some power over him. The possible fae tried to get him in a deal spelling out his true name, but Mxy laughed saying "buddy, I like your trick but I don't need your name to make you do what I want. Don't worry though, it's not my style. Your little trick with Shrek, tricking him into It's a Wonderful Plot just by taking a day? Pretty clever trick". Said ogre would rather just ignore the imp, due to bad memories. This unpronounceable status is different to HIM, who's name isn't spoken more out of dread...or to get past the censors. HIM and Mr Mxyzptlk get along surprisingly well considering HIM is blatantly evil, as the demon loves to mess with the Powerpuff Girls in mind games and bending reality while only getting broken teeth at the worst. Unlike some other demons HIM is happy to just Poke the Poodle when he wants to subvert expectations, like pulling a bunch of mind games to make the Professor pay...for his flapjacks. He thinks a lot of what Mxy does to the Man of Steel is pretty funny. The two have made an agreement never to interfere with each other's turf if they're going to get along, something the imp can easily enforce. Said Powerpuff Girls deeply mistrust Mxyzptlk.
  • All being said, his alias hardly pronounceable due to its complete lack of vowels, and usage of rare consonants. All his kind have the lack of vowels in their name. How do you even pronounce it varies; "Mix-pih-tulk", "Mix-yez-pitl-ick", "Mix-el-plik", they're all valid. Him having to say his name backwards might be a blessing in disguise. Rumpelstiltskin considered making another trick of getting Mxyzptlk to make him say his own name backwards or else he'll keep interfering with his mischief. Mxy accepted the deal, only to end up getting frustrated waiting for the other guy to say "Nikstlitslepmur" and accidentally saying his own name backwards in an angry rantnote . Ryuk used his Shinigami eyes to figure out his true name only to get "Mxyzptlk" in English instead..."nice try" said the imp. There wasn't any hard feelings as he likes the cut of the Shinigami's jib, being someone who's more proactive and interested in stirring the pot to see what happens. Mxy won't admit that him giving a mortal great power was done smarter than when he did it. Speaking of which...
  • Famously, the Joker once scammed him of the majority of his power by exploiting his true imp name. Mxyzptlk only wanted to give him 1% of the power as he was curious to see what he'd do with that power, but he ended up taking 99.9% instead. Becoming Emperor Joker the universe bent to his insane vision and reality started tearing apart at the seams, requiring Mr Mxyzptlk to work with Superman to find a way to beat the Clown Prince of Crime. It's very much an Old Shame and by his own admission, a bone-headed move. Because of this he's made sure never to let himself be in that position again, staying clear of Dr Doom has he has a...reputation for taking god-like power for himself. He has no interest in giving anyone a drop of his power after that, so he stays clear of Moro and Lord Tirek as they can't be trusted with even a zillionth of his power. Much as it left him with egg on his face, Mxy was still interested in other cases of someone handling god-like power. He thinks Bruce Nolan being God for a Day was amusing, giving him props for yanking too hard on reality.
  • Doom speculated he might actually be the Impossible Man for a bit, but the two ended up meeting and not getting along as the Impossible Man thought his pranks went a bit too far. He was outraged that not only did Mxy not care about innocent lives being endangered, but he lied to him. This more cavalier attitude towards danger is why the Collector is mistrustful of him, however the imp still has a soft spot for the kid and they like to compete at planetary billiardsnote . That said, Mxy does have standards and a sense of honor. He's not like Bill Cipher who's idea of a good party is causing mass chaos and devastation, and he's not a Sadist like Yuuki Terumi. That said, he does enjoy playing games with Bill, but it's more about showing that triangle up. They regularly play reality-bending games in the Nightmare Realm, specifically there because Mxyzptlk feels Cipher needs to be on a leash until he learns how to play nicer, often with him making fun of Cipher for using his hedonism in part to cover up the fact he misses the home he burned down. Him wanting to prove he's a better mischief maker is meant to distract the villain.
  • Got a bit bored of playing poker with Bill in the Nightmare Realm and he manifested into somewhere a bit more colorful...Equestia...which history has shown is a bad idea. Discord immediately confronted Mxy given his fight trying to fight off the menace of Bill, who responded with "just ask Ktlpzyxm over there". The imp's response was "that's Ktlpzy-...oh you scummy Dorito chip!" and turned Bill into a Dorito before kicking him out. Mxzyptlk apologized for that, since he's a fan of Discord and enjoys messing around with reality, but not too much. The Mane 6 were curious, if a bit concerned over someone "who's been playing Discord's game before De Lancie was a glimmer in his daddy's eye!...oh yeah, I should probably mention I can see the bronies too." While his specialty is messing with Superman, he's decided to mess with Pinkie Pie by summoning her and Deadpool into a World of Chaos and see if they can figure their way out together. He wanted to be sporting and ran a deli for them when they get hungry, but he got tricked into saying his name backwards when asking to be paid for the chimichanga and ice cream. 90 days later, he wanted a redo and they were happy to do so.
  • The Fifth Dimension is described as being "imagination". It is one ontological layer below the Sixth Dimension, the "multiversal control room" which Perpetua and her relatives come from. The planet he's from, Zrfff, is the home of imps, genies and similar beings, who's magic is advanced 5-D science. Visitors have described Zrfff as being a wacky and chaotic place, something close to a Looney Tunes sketch. To some degree, you could say that Mr Mxyzptlk is like a trickster who uses Toon Physics. Mxy corrected this by saying "my powers aren't toonforce, I simply present it like that!" Judge Doom still despises Mxyzptlk for how close in temperament and to a degree powers he resembles a toon, even if he's a toon underneath that human suit. Emperor Belos holds Mxy in contempt as someone that resembles, seeking his power for himself to purge the world of "sinful" races. Not wanting to take any chances, he turned him into an action figure and played with him as the Collector played with an "action figure" of Zamasu. The mad Kaioshin made the mistake of trying to attack Mxy because he saw him as an irresponsible god at best, god-complexed juiced up mortal at worst. Said action figure doesn't have a voice box because the imp didn't want the "action figure" to say slurs in front of the kid.
  • Mr Mxyzptlk is a big fan of the Looney Tunes. The imp waxed on a (possibly untrue) story that before the Man of Steel he was in a prank war with Bugs Bunny and lost, but liked the moxie and decided to improve his craft. The story may be made up, but the point is that the two got along long enough for Mxy to ask him for a favor and go humiliate the Joker as payback for the time he stole his power. The Joker thought he could get one up on Bugs by making him say " Ynnub Sgub" but as Bugs was using Toon Physics alone, no dice. The whole thing was recorded by Future Zeno who figured out how to use a camera, in order to show off to Present Zeno. Mxyzptlk likes those kids, musing "sentimentality isn't my style but hey, I'm a dad myself". Mxy's fondness for the Zeno duo might be because of sadness over how his son (sort of, it's complicated) Vyndktvx turned out. He tried killing him only to take out the Thing-King (actually a future Mxyzptlk) he systematically destroyed all of the planets inside his pocket dimension to spite his enemy, and inflicting a massive amount of misery towards Superman for burning Vyndktvx's arm during one of his attacks on Earth. He'll entertain him in exchange for getting to mess with Goku. So long as he comes back in one piece and he gets to watch, Zeno will allow it.
  • Mr Mxyzptlk is absurdly powerful by simple virtue of being from a fifth-dimensional Wackyland, but just how absurdly powerful depends. Sometimes the way to banish him is a self-imposed limitation, sometimes it's a hard rule. He's a self-admitted sucker for games, not necessarily that he is bound to their rules as the Celestial Toymaker is that he really likes them. Not coincidentally, the Toymaker happens to be a good friend of his. The two are reality warpers who occupy themselves and their immortality with games. The Toymaker uses more "official" games while Mxyzptlk does mind games and jokes. They each have their personal Worthy Opponent in the Doctor and Superman respectively. They're also significantly more powerful than nearly every other member of said opponent's rogues gallery. The Toymaker's games are considerably more nasty, with the occasional Fate Worse than Death, however like Mr Mxyzptlk he has rules and some sense of fairness he follows. The imp has tried to make it a regular thing every week to meet up with the Toymaker and play games, often requiring the Doctor and Superman to work together in order to mitigate collateral. In Mxy's defense, he'll reverse whatever damage the Toymaker didn't bother to as he's not as bad. Sarda will sometimes be invited for game night.
  • By his own admission there are some beings beyond him, such as Dr Manhattan and, given the aforementioned Sixth Dimension, the Monitor and his relatives in their true form. He doesn't exactly care for Jon Osterman's attitude and has tried to tell him to lighten up, but is otherwise ambivalent towards him. Unfortunately, it also means that as the Darkest Knight, the Batman That Laughs is a threat and one just as comparable to Emperor Joker, if not even worse. He's definitely above Darkseid given he was no match to Emperor Joker, at least regularly as True Form Darkseid is not a form the Lord of Apokolips uses lightly. Beings like Darkseid and YHVH consider him utterly insufferable for not using his powers for anything serious. The Living Tribunal isn't all that impressed by his actions and general irreverence, and Mxyzptlk isn't exactly fond of someone much more powerful than him being, as he sees it, a stick in the mud. Still, he recognizes the Living Tribunal's importance and the two begrudgingly tolerate each other. Also of note; it's ambiguous where SCP-3125, another being from (a different) Fifth Dimension would stand compared to the imp. What is known is that the Escapee finds him obnoxious and insufferable, and Mxy thinks he's no fun.
  • His focus on the DC Universe is usually just Superman and friends. As annoying and chaotic as he is, more than a few times they've had a laugh at what transpired. While he is on speaking terms with Lex Luthor, that's more down to him being ok with helping him once in a blue moon to cause mischief, not because he likes him. Bizarro seems to get along with him a bit more, though that's more down to one incarnation of Bizarro coming to be because of the Joker using the imp's powers and Mxy being nice enough to keep him around when reality went back to normal. Mxy has a Friendly Rivalry with Batman's most powerful fanboy, another 5-D imp called Bat-Mite, who in the (possibly non-canon) "World's Funniest" they ended up rampaging and destroying the multiverse in their little conflict, only to put reality back together good as new like nothing happened. Again, good thing he's only interested in mischief. One of his antics was dunking on the Spectre with planets, something the angel is not impressed by. He's more livid at the time Mxy impersonated him to watch over Regime Superman when he was troubled by Trigon, as no-one messes with his Supes but him! The fact Trigon wasn't squashed like a bug would solidify his Overdeity status in the Trope Pantheon.
  • Once faced an Eldritch Abomination called the Ultimator, who was a 10-dimensional being that almost succeeded at consuming and assimilating the Fifth Dimension into itself. Being completely outclassed, Mxyzptlk had to resort to other comic books to figure out a solution. His solution? Make his own version of Dream of the Endless to bore the Ultimator into a slumber. The actual Dream tolerates this parody, but he didn't think it was all that funny. Since the Fifth Dimension is imagination, one could argue that it falls under the domain of Dream...though there's always the question of "how canon is Vertigo to DC anyway?" He does respect Dream, though he gets along a lot better with Delirium due to sharing that spirit of chaotic whimsy, though even Mxy is cautious not to truly upset her. As the Fifth Dimension is imagination, that puts Mxy in opposition to the Nothing. On a related note, the Auditors despise Mxyzptlk for his boundless whimsy and imagination coupled with the power to make his chaotic whims a reality.
  • As much as he's seen as a Laughably Evil or even Harmless Villain, it's very important to remember the only reason Mr Mxyzptlk is not one of the most dangerous villains in all of DC is because he chooses not to. At heart he's Above Good and Evil and acts out of boredom; he spent the first 2000 years of his life in stasis, the next 2000 doing good deeds and now being a prankster. In one scenario he decided to try being a villain for 2000 years, and afterwards maybe he'll feel guilty about it. It did not end well, with many innocent people and much of Superman's supporting and rogues gallery dying. Xenophanes wants to goad Mr Mxyzptlk into doing that again, but he's given a firm "no" since that ended with Superman killing him, and he's not that bored yet...or maybe that's something that happens at the end of his personal timeline. He finds Lord X to be droll and unimaginative, but this doesn't change the fact that he and Bill Cipher are well aware he absolutely has the potential to be more dangerous than them.

Work has been kicking my butt. That and several family members are graduating college.

Also, Fallout's Amazon series has reignited my love for the game. Which is why I would like to put in the G.E.C.K. (Garden of Eden Creation Kit) in with Treasures.

Nakoruru, Divine Spirit Of Natural Harmony (Mother Nature's Guardian, Maiden of Light, Rera)

  • Domains: Ainu People, Shrine Maidens, Forest Spirits, Nature
  • Herald: Rimururu (younger sister)
  • High Priestess: Talim
  • Allies:
  • Enemies:
    • Ascended SNK Deities: Leopold Goenitz, Team Orochi
    • Other Enemies: Anyone who either disrepects, pollutes or outright destroys nature in general is Nakoruru's enemy, among them being Hexxus, Mr. Burns, and The Eco-Villains
  • Person Of Interest To/Wary Around: Hotaru, Ra's al-Ghul, Cetrion
  • Odd Friendship: With Poison Ivy
  • Haohmaru couldn't help but to crack a small grin as a familiar presence got his attention. She was here, he realized, having finally ascended to the Pantheon. Taking a wild guess as to where she had set up her temple, Haohmaru made the trip to visit his old friend. As expected, her temple is a perfect replica of her cottage back in her home village of Kamuikotan, located deep within the Pantheon's forests. Then, she appeared; an Ainu girl in the traditional garb of an Ainu shrine maiden, accompanied by her two pets - a hawk and wolf respectively. Nakoruru has come to the Pantheon at last. Nakoruru receives her guest warmly and tells him how she was able to ascend to the Pantheon. She was summoned to the Pantheon by Nature's will, and given her tendency of traveling from one universe to another, Nakoruru simply opened a portal to the Pantheon and stepped into it, where she found her temple/home already built, so she moved in.
  • When she is not fighting for Mother Nature, she is known for championing various social actions for children and nature awareness programs alongside Terry Bogard. Speaking of the aforementioned Bogard, Terry paid Nakoruru a visit to her temple to pay his respects. Not really a huge fan of cities, Nakoruru prefers the countryside, as she is more at home in the forested regions, as befitting her nature. It was also how she met Jun Kazama, a fellow warrior devoted to defending Mother Nature. While Jun's taste in men is questionable, Nakoruru sees Jun as a kindred spirit, and is considering Jun's invitation to visit Yakushima.
  • Just because she's a nature spirit doesn't mean that Nakoruru can get down and dirty when it comes to combat when in human form. Haohmaru can attest that Nakoruru is formidable. Nakoruru is a master of the Dancing Sword Arts of the Shikanna-Kamui, with her weapon of choice being the Makiri short sword, of which Nakoruru named Chichi-ushi (Father Bull). And the Pantheon's fighting community are also taking notice. Thanks to Nakoruru's dimension-hopping antics, she was seen teaming up with Haohmaru on one such occasion, while another has her fighting against the World Warriors at a tournament hosted by the Masters Foundation and the Garcia Concern. There were also rumors of Nakoruru seen at a nightclub, asking Andy Bogard if he wanted to dance, but Nakoruru denies that claim. Nakoruru has been scouted by Maya Fallegeros and Nightwolf (at the behest of Liu Kang). Nakoruru was flattered by the offers, but refused, as her responsibility is to Nature and Nature alone.
  • As a now-deified nature spirit, Nakoruru's ascension has been making waves throughout the Pantheon. As a defender of Nature, Nakoruru finds herself playing host to not just The Lorax, but also Ashitaka, the wolf-woman/romantic interest San, and her adopted mother, Moro-no-Kimi. The Lorax was curious as to who the newcomer was that made their home within the Pantheon's vast forests, while Ashitaka - a former prince of the Emushi, an ethnic group with cloes ties to the Ainu - was drawn to Nakoruru due to their shared ethnic ties. San and Moro wanted to make sure that Nakoruru wasn't another Lady Eboshi, as one was bad enough already. Among the spirits that frequent visit Nakoruru, the Spectral Familiars and Totoro are among those who visit Nakoruru's temple, a clear sign for San and Moro that Nakoruru was on Nature's side. Nakoruru is all for progress, but not at the expense of destroying Nature for progress, profit or for shits and giggles, of which the Lorax is also in agreement with.
    • On the opposite end, as a defender of Nature, Nakoruru has issues with those who disrepect, pollute or outright destroy Nature. If she's around someone like C. Montgomery Burns or Hexxus, Nakoruru is more than willing to let Rera take over. Oh, yeah, Nakoruru has a superpowered split personality, one that is more than willing to spill blood to reach her goals. It's also this same reason why Nakoruru opposes the Orochi wind master, Leopold Goenitz, and his underlings, Team Orochi. Goenitz claims that his goals are noble, that he wishes to restore Nature. Nakoruru is quick to point out that his plans to restore Nature's balance involves reviving Orochi to bring about the extermination of mankind. "And here, I thought Ambrosia was insane," Nakoruru muses. It's also the reason why she doesn't wholly trust Cetrion. Liu Kang and Nightwolf had visited her temple to not only pay their respects, but to also warn Nakoruru about Cetrion's intentions. While not as bad as Goenitz's goals, Certrion's plans of decimating humanity and nature is bad enough. "And she calls herself a Goddess of Virtue and a Guardian of Life," Nakoruru scoffs. To which, Liu replies, "Cetrion is just as bad, if not worse than her brother, the fallen Elder God Shinnok."
    • It's also the reason why Nakoruru does not trust Ra's al-Ghul. In her eyes, the boss of the League of Assassins is no better than Goenitz, as while Ra's is an environmentalist himself, he has no qualms about culling the human population if it means saving the planet. Fortunately, Poison Ivy is more affable, due to her changing her ways. Ivy likes to visit Nakoruru's temple with her mentor (and possible romantic interest?) Yoko Kurama. Nakoruru was put off slightly by the presence of a (somewhat-reformed) eco-terrorist and a demon on her grounds, but relented. Yoko Kurama enjoys the peace that Nakoruru's temple brings, while Ivy can better tune in to The Green. Ivy offered to leave behind several man-eating Venus Flytraps on the grounds. Nakoruru, while flattered (and rightfully freaked out) politely refused.
  • The deified Seidan warrior, Hotaru, found himself in the forests surrounding Nakoruru's home/temple. It didn't take long before Nakoruru was alerted to his presences, and went out to meet him. The meeting was civil enough, with Hotaru giving Nakoruru his pitch: "There is an order to the universe — laws that all of nature must obey. Without order, there is anarchy. Anarchy leads to chaos. And chaos leads to suffering. You yourself know this all too well, Lady Nakoruru. Amakusa... Mizuki... Zankuro... Lady Shizuka... Out of the Chaos, shall come Order." Fortunately, Kenshi and Kuai Liang warned Nakoruru about the fanatic. Nakoruru declined Hotaru's offer, stating that she follows Nature's path, and through Nature, she maintains the balance. That and she doesn't entirely trust Hotaru. Maybe it's because that even Rera finds that Hotaru's methods are extreme, even for her. That and supporting someone like Onaga doesn't sit well with her.
  • The Eco-Villains (consisting of Hoggish Greedly, Duke Nukem - no, not that Duke Nukem - Looten Plunder, Verminous Skumm, Dr. Blight, and Zarm), have Nakoruru's temple grounds in their sights for their own sinister purposes, be it to deplete it of its natural resources, or to outright destroy the precious biosphere either for profit or for just shits and giggles. Nakoruru is more than happy to let Rera get her own pound of flesh from the eco-terrorists. In a strange twist of fate, the Eco-Villans' attempt to vandalize her home is how she met the (somewhat reformed) eco-terrorist, Dr. Pamela Isley and Kurama, who were venturing close by. As Nakoruru has encountered demonic entities in the past, she was on her guard, but relaxed when she felt no malicious intent from Kurama. When the Eco-Villains busted out Captain Pollution, it had been the timely arrival of The Planeteers and Captain's Planet that turned the tide of the fight in Nakoruru's favor. Nakoruru made several more friends that day, friends who were just as devoted to Nature as she was.

  • Kid Cosmic and the Local Heroes were once just normal citizens of a desert-bound lone town, living mundane boring lives. However, the Kid one day found five Stones of Power that fell from outer space and granted their users superpowers; joined by his friends, Jo and Rosa; his cat, Tuna Sandwich; and his grandfather, Papa G, Kid set out to use the Stones to protect Earth from alien threats as the team's self-proclaimed leader; however he grew to realize what was really important about being a hero despite his early obsession and had to give up his leadership dreams to Jo who was far more mature and suited for the role while being joined by a former villain, Chuck, later on he and the Heroes would relinquish the Stones back to their original alien users when they came to Earth as they were the last pieces of their homeworlds, so they could take on the Planet Killer, Erodious who destroyed said planets. However, when only one of the survivors came back alive the heroes were taken to space to fight Erodious by finding more Stones of Power, eventually being able to defeat the Planet Killer's herald, Fantos and later stop the threat of the Planet Killer itself by restoring it to its true pure form with Papa G's good luck charm, which was the fourteenth stone of power. Once the heroes were done, they came back to Earth where their efforts got them a monetary compensation from the government at the expense of remaining silent about their adventures to the greater world, but the alien friends they made came to Earth to visit them regardless, making up a new and better status quo for everyone.
  • The Heroes arrived in the Pantheon after their last adventure was done, once an alien deity in the Pantheon came to their place to inform them of their new status. With this ascension they were given fully-functioning replicas of the Stones, including Papa G's, though the latter declined both of his on the grounds that he wasn't going to exploit them for his own gain and only considers taking them up again if there's a need for the team to combat a truly dangerous threat. The rest were all thrilled to have their powers back and also being far away from any government bodies that might try and boss them around.
  • Because their initial stint as superheroes was filled with blunders and lots of mistakes on their part they made good friends with heroes who also had a rough start in their adventures or had difficulty adapting to heroism:
    • The Powerpuff Girls had a pretty rough first day as superheroines as their powers were destructive and they had not much idea on how to control them, leading to chaos all around Townsville and being shunned by the populace, but through defeating Mojo Jojo in the latter's first outing they managed to prove their worth as heroes and ever since have remained Tonsville's defenders. The Girls mostly got along with the excitable Kid and Rosa, who both share the girls' passion for heroism and were awed by each other's capacities and abilities, Blossom also got along with Jo regarding their status as leaders of their teams and tendency to clash with their teammates in disagreements.
    • Peter Parker/Spider-Man was another one of these heroes, as from his first day he had a rough start to his adventures as Spider-Man, facing both personal and large-scale problems that affected him, primarily balancing his two sides of life around and the guilt of letting the criminal that killed Uncle Ben get away due to his negligence towards his responsibilities. He mostly bonded with Jo, as due to her role as the leader of the team she had to face a lot of pressure and screw-ups of her own and nearly tearing the team apart with some bad advice she got before she managed to set things right. Another thing Peter found in common with them was getting used to the powers that they got, primarily his Spider-Sense which has some similar uses to Tuna Sandwich's precognition.
    • A few alien explorers have befriended them, one of these was Olimar, the explorer being familiar with travelling to various planets, most notably PNF-404 (an alternate Earth) looking for treasures to settle a debt his company had. Olimar has been interested in the rings of power, primarily because of their nature as fragments of planets destroyed by Erodius (and the 14th being a piece of Erodius itself) and in turn Kid and the team have been perplexed by what Earth looks like where Olimar comes from and have thought of making a few visits to see what's up there.
  • Wander befriended them all without issue but mostly Papa G and Chuck; the former being pretty similar to Wander in attitude and outlooks on life with his tendency to see the good in everyone, while the latter was once an alien minion of a galactic conqueror who turned to good out of both kindness and admiring how brave Kid was compared to his leader. Wander and Chuck's friendship has served as a point of disturbance for Lord Hater and Peepers, who are annoyed to see another galactic conqueror give up his ambitions and evil ways out of kindness like Wander has spurred many other evil overlords to do, Chuck himself and the other Heroes all view the duo as a lesser concern and even are willing to be friendly towards them since worse villains like Lord Dominator are around besides them.
  • Since they fought Fantos the Collector, who wanted the Stones of Power to aid the planet-eating Erodious as his herald, they are heavily wary of Darkseid, Thanos and Galactus who all resemble the villain they fought themselves. While they don't hate Galactus since eating planets is not something he does out of malice, they do not spare any hatred towards Darkseid and Thanos who like Fantos spread destruction and ruin for the hell of it. Galactus has no interest in their Stones of Power, while Thanos himself has been intrigued by their abilities and wondered if they could be of use to him for any next conquest he might arrange.
  • Exclusive to the Kid:
    • Kid's primary Stone of Power lets him use telekinesis to move objects or himself around, which for a good amount of time made him think he gained the power of flight. Thus he made connections with other telekinesis users (not telepathy!) such as Psychic Pokemon like Mewtwo, who also has mind control among his powers but otherwise has a similar powerset to Kid including "flight" through TK. Other TK users include Ness and Lucas, who are within Kid's range of age and share similar experiences regarding being involved into dangerous fights and other situations during their own adventures each, most notably Ness who had to fight off the alien invasion spearheaded by Giygas.
    • Because Kid for a while had some selfish impulses due to trying to be a hero, he feels some sympathy for heroes who similarly had to grip with similar sentiments and actions in their own hero careers, Ben 10 was one such ally as before he truly had a grip on heroics he was bratty and selfish about his powers and intended to become famous with them, only learning the true meaning of heroism later on. And while he backpedaled several times on this lesson, he has managed to tame down his worst tendencies and become a humbler genuine hero as a result.
    • Kid's resentment of others being better than him at superheroics, which he eventually got over made him wary of those who became "heroes" only to achieve fame and fortune for their own personal gratification or another selfish whim such as Hal Stewart/Tighten, as the formerly nerdy reporter not only was jealous of Metro Man for being the center of attention of Metro City and felt entitled for gratification from others once he became a superhero and even went on a rampage before being stopped by Megamind. Similarly, he also detests the Plutonian for having allowed his jealously to turn him into a vile supervillain.
    • He lost both his parents in a car crash at a young age and that event marked him for life, making him desire to help others and be a hero so he could save people like he couldn't with his parents. As such he made connections with Batman, who as Bruce Wayne saw his parents die to a mugger and was inspired by his trauma to become a vigilante so he could prevent others from going through the pain he went through; Batman himself admires that Kid had the determination and bravery to be a true hero but also was quick to warn him not to be so reckless even after he became more thoughtful, knowing dangerous things even for him could await in the future given his own experiences with his surrogate children who became Robins going through various traumas themselves.
  • Exclusive to Jo:
    • She had to become the leader of the team as she was the most qualified but went through great hardships before she was finally able to fully settle into the role. Another deity with such a struggle was Leonardo, who in one incarnation didn't start out as the leader but upon being made so by Master Splinter had to adapt to his new role and despite a rocky start due to his immaturity was able to grow into a legitimate and competent leader who brought his team to new heights to save the world and even the Universe. Leo has also seen that they both have portal abilities as their primary power, and even are rooted in alien mysticism/technology as they discovered later. Jo has also befriended the other turtles in turn. She also met and introduced Baron Draxum to the other Local Heroes, who is a reformed villain; as well as the semi-remorfed duo of semi-reformed villains, Bebop and Rocksteady who, while occasionally backtrack into evil, are for the most part nicer guys or even heroes nowadays, even if sometimes for the wrong reasons too.
    • Her portal-opening abilities got her an ally in Chell, who'd once been forced to deal with the rogue AI GLaDOS and has possibly lived through the invasion of the Combine in her world. While Chell is often silent and reserved, she has found some common grounds with Jo on which to speak on fully friendly terms; Jo has at times inquired about Chel's portal gun and seen if she can work around some way to use them for her daily life, even if Flo thinks the technology might not be the best for the kind of uses Jo thinks of.
    • Jo's expectations of inheriting a restaurant ran by her mother, who herself inherited it from her own mother, as well as being raised in a rather loving home who's values resonated in her days of heroics got her a connection with Po, the panda also having been raised with his father, Mr. Ping's expectation that he'd inherit the noodle shop he ran only for Po to instead become a Kung Fu master; while Ping was much more accepting of Po's choices than Flo who disapproved of Jo's dangerous heroics, they nonetheless became good friends, with Po even teaching her a few kung fu moves he knew to help her fight better, while in turn he was amazed by her team's superpowers, even if some of them gave him bad memories of deadly artifacts he knew in his world like the Tianshang Weapons.
  • Exclusive to Papa G:
    • Thanks to his old age, Papa G has practically Seen It All and knows things that almost no one else knows about the world; he's had unexplained escapades that got to the point where the US government has a large specific file on him. As such he made allies in those who have lived long and often fulfilling lives while gaining invaluable wisdom along the way, such as Master Yoda and Master Oogway; both masters of certain disciplines who've lived through centuries of varying events and confronted countless threats in their many years of life. Oogway in particular interested Papa G as he once was a ruthless warlord who saw the error of his ways when panda villagers healed him and taught him Chi control. While Oogway has offered some lessons to keep Papa G on a healthier state without the need of the Fourteenth Stone, he prefers to let nature run its course on him a decision Oogway respects.
    • He's also made a connection in Skips, the immortal yeti has also lived for many decades and seen a lot of strange otherwordly stuff, and even outlived a loved one with said death marking them greatly. Skips consoled Papa G on the loss of his child while Papa G offered his own condolences for Skips' lost love, Mona. Skips also found it admirable how Papa G willingly gave up his own immortality for the greater good while Papa G in turn finds it noble that Skips keeps on carrying the burden of losing his loved ones for the sake of the greater good of his own universe. At times Skips has borrowed Papa G's ring to improve his handywork when needed, always returning it once done.
    • He also had a preference for being kind to others and believes that heroes help, not hurt. This caused him to grow closer to Wander than the rest of the team as both found their similarities pleasant, while also giving him an appreciation for other similar heroes like Steven Universe and Naruto Uzumaki who believe most people are decent underneath even if they seem or act evil. He was particularly proud of Steven for finding a peaceful solution to the problem with the Gem Homeworld and has thought of visiting his universe for some sight-seeing. While he was a bit uneasy around the redeemed Homeworld Gems at first, he also found them good company and didn't mind their pasts thanks to their atonement.
    • He found another duplicating hero in Shino Aizawa, albeit she had issues with her own power due to it being tied to her emotions, as someone who took to his own duplication with some ease Papa G took on a mentor-like role to help her better control her powers the best way he could and even taught her some means through which coordinate with her duplicates for arduous tasks or even everyday life situations she might have to get past. In turn she was grateful he took time off his schedule despite his old age and retirement from active hero duties to help her out.
  • Exclusive to Rosa:
    • She is a toddler with great control of her powers and was at first the absolute best of her team, due to this she made a connection with SCP-239, who is likewise potentially destructive with her powers yet is not truly trying to be mean or cruel despite what appearances may show. Though Rosa is wary of what 239 could do if she took her powers too far, she has somewhat been trying to help control her abilities better so they can play together without issue.
    • Benevolent sizeshifters befriended her most notably Hank Pym/Ant-Man who was surprised by the versatility of Rosa's abilities and her skills at fighting despite her young age. He has thought of investigating if her Stone could be of similar nature to the Pym Particles but prefers to wait until she may feel comfortable with sharing her Stone with him, not wanting to seem like he has ulterior motives or any others beyond his curiosity and desire to learn more of her abilities.
    • She once tried to wrestle Godzilla in her giant form, while the King of the Monsters isn't amused by having to play along, he decided to go with the routine to entertain Rosa since she was no threat in any way to him, even letting her "win" brawls a few times to humor her, and other times trying to mentor her into using her powers for good or helping others. She has taken to playing with other kaiju as well, such as Gamera who took a soft spot for her due to his care for children, as did Mothra Leo for the same reason.
    • She also encountered the giant woman Nancy Archer and Clifford the giant red dog, both who took a liking to her for her genuinely optimistic and playful attitude, though once interference had to be made from some powerful deities to stop Rosa and Clifford from causing too much collateral damage in a game of chase the stick. In turn Nancy was willing to babysit Rosa whenever her parents felt she would wander too far from their temple or their view, to keep her out of getting into trouble with less than benevolent giant deities.
  • Exclusive to Tuna Sandwich:
    • Tuna made connections in seers such as Garnet and Shulk, who like him employ their clairvoyance for good. Garnet herself also was interested in Tuna's temporary third eye whenever he uses his powers as she also has one such eye as a result of her fusion, she has fully befriended him by petting and caring for him in the times they cross paths and even has heard his stories of meeting aliens, even romancing a female alien cat and having a litter of space kittens who he cares for now, Tuna in turn was interested in her own stories of space and her components' nature given their dual element wielding reminds him of the Rings of Ice and Fire.
    • Garfield and Tuna Sandwich hang out from time to time thanks to their shared quirks as snarky pets, though Tuna is much more open about his feelings on other people and how he loves them, Garfield appreciates Tuna both due to his similar attitude and his useful clairvoyance when dealing with either Pantheonic traits or annoying people he wishes to avoid. Other cats such as Tom are also on good terms with Tuna despite their own antagonism, Tom occasionally accompanies Tuna on daily walks or drops by his temple to chat amicably.
  • Exclusive to Stuck Chuck:
    • He made good friends with Peridot, another alien that once was part of a galactic empire as a low-ranking soldier but turned to good after being shown kindness and bravery of the real kind by their former enemies and realizing on their own they'd been supporting the wrong side. Peridot tried to build him some mechanical legs given she felt he probably could use a hand on that area but Chuck was fine with his current predictament as he saw it as his continuous atonement towards his past as a villain.
    • Chuck feels pity towards Zim, as he's seen the Invader is irrationally obsessed with his pointless goal of appealing to his higher-ups and isn't capable of comprehending how much they straight-up hate him; while he's done his fair share of attempts at convincing the Invader to give up his plans and reform so he can lead a better life his reasonings have fallen on deaf ears given Zim's unshakable narcissism, delusional behavior and stupidity which all irritated Chuck enough to never try again, even if he does still wishes Zim would see the light one day and turn good; even if that day is probably never ever coming.
    • Similarly to the case with Zim, he also feels pity for Jessie, James and Meowth since they too haven't figured out that they could be using their talents for good instead of evil, something he believes would bring them greater satisfaction than their current careers do; even more because they have occasionally reformed only to backtrack at every turn whenever they got even the slightest hint of validation from Giovanni, the trio in turns views him as an odd guy despite their off-field friendliness and preachy too so they avoid him. He does at least like to hear of another group of not-quite-evil villains who did see the light in Jindrax and Toxica.
  • For the others:
    • Flo is a protective mother who instilled values of love and peace on both her daughter and her friends, always striving to add a little love to everything; as such she made good friends with other mothers in the Pantheon who too preferred a more peaceful life, one of these mothers was Kitty Forman, who also had an affinity for being motherly and guiding towards people unrelated to her, similarly she also built a rapport with Chi-Chi, due to her headstrong personality and initially having been opposed to her children fighting against evil due to fearing for their safety and future but has come around thanks to seeing the good they do for the world with it.
    • Carla prefers to spend her days running in her motorbike, she's had encounters with some bikers such as Beelzemon and the Kamen Riders, she primarily got along with Takeshi Hongo due to also being an old-timer biker who continues living his days full of action, albeit he's a more active fighter against evil than her. She also once witnessed Wario as Wario Man crash his bike in her and her allies' temple while looking for Mo's Dinner to have a snack, she didn't like him much but at least was glad he paid her friend, Flo, generously for the food.
    • Hamburg and Fry hang out in the House of Food, sometimes even taking long residences to avoid the attention of their unwanted suitor, Boss Fiosa. In the meantime they hang out with other duo deities who are likewise best friends, some of these deities were J.D. and Turk, a duo of lifelong friends who they cross paths with often on their travels and have talked about some mundane topics to pass time. They also had things to fear from Lord Dominator more than just her usual villainy, as she reminds them of their current Abhorrent Admirer Boss Fiosa (who may want to eat them after forcing them to marry her).
    • Carlos and Ramona found themselves acquaintanced with other romantic married or dating duos in the Pantheon, mostly those with similar active love lives. One of these couples was La Muerte and Xibalba who due to being Mexican Gods call to their roots as Mexican immigrants, they were impressed to meet them and were quick to bring up some really long talks about their lives and what they did in their time as heroes. Another couple they made friends with were Gomez and Morticia Addams, a loving and happy married couple who they found to be good company despite their creepiness.

[up]Trope-wise it should probably go somewhere in Naming and Epithets

Who, like Red Son Superman, used to be an authoritarian (either successful or would-be) but saw the error in their ways? Who else is an AU version of a character who ended up having a different path in life like he did?

  • They say Upbringing Makes the Hero, something Clark Kent firmly believes in. So what if that upbringing was changed? Say, that spaceship arrived 12 hours off and ended up in Soviet Ukraine? You get the Superman of Earth-30, better known as Red Son Superman. Fighting for Stalin, communism, and the international expansion of the Warsaw Pact, he became a pupil of the Soviet Premier and grew up under the beliefs of the Soviet Union. When Stalin died, he would end up succeeding him as a Reluctant Ruler...well, for a time. As Premier of the Soviet Union he would end up becoming a dictator, almost taking the world. To many he was a Benevolent Dictator...but was the repressiveness really worth it? After all, why doesn't he just put the entire world in a bottle if it needs his protection? Realizing how much the cost of totalitarianism amounted to changed his mind...unfortunately Brainiac wasn't exactly into him giving up, and when defeated he planned to blow the whole solar system to kingdom come. Superman would prove himself a hero once more by sacrificing himself to stop this. However he secretly survived, choosing to be incognito and abandon any attempt to control mankind's destiny again.
  • The ascension of the Red Son Superman was anticipated by his Earth 0 counterpart, the OG Superman. He was one of many alternate selves that has a place in the Supermen of the Multiverse formally organized during Final Crisis, helping defeat Ultraman and the Dark Monitor. While anticipated, it would be a stretch to say he would be accepted warmly. Though he started with the best of intentions Kal-L was a dictator, if a well-intentioned one, and his soured relationship with the Wonder Woman of his universe, and conflict with the Green Lantern Marine Corps, wasn't going to make their alliance an easy one. An alliance it still is however, as the Earth-30 Superman wants to make up for his past actions. Batman is particularly distrustful of him, and to a lesser extent so's the communist Superman; the Batman of his world was a violent anarchist. To distinguish himself from his counterparts and to reinforce some humility in himself, he goes by his civilian name Somishka, given to him by the animated adaptation. His first order of business upon ascension? Find out more about DC characters from the Prime Earth, and the superheroes and villains of other universes.
  • He's very interested in Lois Lane and his prime self's adoptive parents, the latter because of the argument of Nature Versus Nurture. He's arguably a case of both; while his different upbringing made him employ more questionable methods, he had just as much a motive to do good as his prime self. He deeply respects the Kents for how well they raised his wholly good-aligned counterpart. He was raised on a farm himself, though Soviet Ukraine is quite different from Kansas. The Lois in his world was married to Lex Luthor, though she was no less of an ethical journalist on Earth 30 than Earth 0. Now Lex, that's a different story. While Earth-30 Luthor is just as conceited and arrogant as his prime counterpart, he's on the side of US government and a Nominal Hero (or Anti-Hero if you want to be generous) who would start a golden age after Superman's "death". Knowing this, Somishka can't help but feel disappointed in his prime counterpart for wasting so much effort against a version of himself that's a genuine hero. Lex naturally doesn't buy that the Earth-30 Superman has reformed and thinks he validates his beliefs to an extent, though he did like to learn about his variant and finds there's a funny sort of irony in how their lives turned out in that universe.
  • The Superman of Earth-30 is naturally compared to the other Supermen in the Trope Pantheon. And not just them, but those who clearly parallel the Man of Steel. Mainly, it's the ones that "go off the beaten path", so to speak, that are of note to the Soviet superhero, though it's not just them. The most obvious comparison one can make with the Red Son Superman is his Regime counterpart. Both see Superman become a dictator for a perceived greater good, though the trigger is different; Regime Superman lost everything, and Red Son Superman was mentored by Joseph Stalin. However Regime Superman has stayed steadfast in his ideals, much to his Earth-0 and -30 counterparts' disappointment. That Superman thinks his communist doppelganger essentially gave up too soon, however he admires his virtues and accomplishments as dictator. The two have ended up becoming rivals, primarily on an ideological status. So what about other Superman types? How does he feel about them?
    • Due to disavowing many of his old views but not exactly being trusted by the hero community Somishka doesn't have many friends. However he does have a very strong friendship with a Superman Substitute; Nolan Grayson, aka Omni-Man. Omni-Man grew up as a Viltrumite, Social Darwinist aliens who invaded planets to "help" them (basically the alien version of White Man's Burden), masquerading as The Cape to prepare Earth. But the love of his son, and to a lesser extent wife had him realize he cared. He'd eventually reform his ways and when he eventually became leader, he helped his people reform their ways. Omni-Man has gone through a similar arc to Somishka, so it's no wonder that they relate to one another. He's fond of his son Mark, as he is the one who let the spark of his father's compassion. As a formerly evil Superman, this puts him in an interesting spot with Superboy-Prime. Prime was a much more childish, dangerous villain, but following the events of Dark Nights: Death Metal he's finally turned over a new leaf and is trying to be a hero again. He knows the temptation though, and would like help from the more mature Red Son variant as a Superman who can understand more than most.
    • At best, he perceives the Plutonian as an especially powerful yet extremely violent maniac. One who has been given chances to reform and rejected them. Red Son Superman, for all his flaws, still held on to a sense of humility and genuine compassion for people, even if his vision of "saving the world" was ultimately the wrong one. The Plutonian's heroism was ultimately driven by ego rather than any genuine desire to help. Though his Regime counterpart disagrees with his decision to stop his Totalitarian Utilitarian path, they'll happily join up and teach the Plutonian a lesson. The Earth-30 Superman has is less disgusted and more disappointed, as is his prime counterpart, with the Homelander. Somishka is currently trying to live up to the virtues of his communist upbringing as part of his atoning, so he sees Vought-American and the Seven as emblematic of the negatives of capitalism, pointing out how they've enabled the emotionally unstable traits of their Supes. The obvious exception is Starlight, who he respects for being a genuine hero. He's come around to respecting Queen Maeve due to her more active heroism on the TV show.
    • Compared to his more intense relationships with other Supermen and their expies, his relationship with Metro Man is a lot more light-hearted. Metro Man felt he was defined by the role of Metro City's number one hero and had an understandable, albeit selfish desire to finish his rivalry with Megamind. Seeing how far Somishka went to do the right thing, he thinks taking a break and sorting out his priorities is a good thing. After everything, the Soviet's Man of Steel, decided yeah, he could kick back and relax at Metro Man's place...just as long as he doesn't sing. The guitar riffs are fine. Occasionally the Samaritan and the Sentry show up when they need to take a much-needed breather. Asa Martin is glad that Earth-30 Superman is reforming but isn't comfortable enough to form an alliance yet given his past. Somishka thinks this is fair, and he's noted that while interested in the Sentry he's not quite sure about him yet because of the Void's influence on him.
  • He is slightly different in the animated version. While both versions try a non-lethal option, the animated version is willing to kill. However his main victim? Joseph Stalin. A tyrant historically seen as bad as the Fuhrer himself, with one of his atrocities being a genocidal starvation in Somishka's own land of Ukrainenote , most see it as a Pay Evil unto Evil moment. That said, his solution for dissidents and criminals was debatable worse; neurological implants to make sure they'd be good and happy. After the "why don't you put the whole world in a bottle?!" line he considers this one of his biggest regrets. It's why, as much of a point they may have and as heroic as they can be, he's unable to get on board with the Indigo Tribe or the Phantom Thieves of Heart. He has no intention of entering the Hall of Mind Control outside of taking the fight to Yuri, who uses mind control devices except with no illusions that this isn't just a method of control. Yuri is flummoxed by how that speech got through to him, and thinks of Kal-L as a disappointment.
  • The other difference in the animated version is his origins. There he's a Kryptonian, as you'd expect. But in the original comic, the world he's from is actually a very distant future Earth, sent back in hopes of changing things as the planet is about to succumb to the sun's red giant phase only to form part of a Stable Time Loop. Interestingly, this Superman the very distant descendant of Lex Luthor. Being a highly evolved human he is of interest to the Asteromorphs, who have long appreciated the heroism of the regular Superman in service of his adopted home. The Qu hold contempt for Kal-L and see his existence as similarly blasphemous. After learning what the Qu have done, the contempt is mutual. Regardless of where he was born, Somishka sees himself as a human and Soviet citizen first. He was interested in reaching out to Black Widow, a superheroine that used to be a Soviet spy, as he wanted someone to talk about his situation. Her teammate Captain America is a bit off-put as this Superman was Stalin's successor in more ways than one, but he's accepting to him wanting to live up to the mantle of Earth-0 Superman. The Earth-30 Superman respects Cap because he's a patriotic hero that always puts his morality and the virtues of the nation he loves first over any loyalty to its government. He wishes he had that kind of mindset.
  • He's Ukrainian, not Russian, though even before becoming Soviet Premier he spent a good amount of time there paraded by Stalin. Wanting to do something light-hearted, he got out red sunlight lights so he could brawl with Soda Popinski in a fair fight, as some much needed fun for a man who'd definitely benefit from it. He trains with him to learn how to box better so he's not left behind in the Strong and Skilled department compared to his prime counterpart. "Rurik II" had been observing their brawl and says he wants to reach out to the Soviet Superman, saying while he doesn't agree with his past methods he does want to see him aspire to greatness. Nikolay used to be a Red Army soldier that went off the deep end but still managed to become The Good King, so Somishka respects him. Something he's noted is that the two of them live within Alternate History, which started to make him wonder...what other Supermen in the multiverse had a shake-up to their origins? How might they compare to him? He decided to go to the House of Time and Temporality and figure out the answer. It didn't take too long for him to find a rather similar counterpart to his Regime counterpart, that being Superman as one of the Justice Lords of Earth-50, who happened to use a similar mind control on dissidents...in his case, lobotomy via heat beam.
    • He was disturbed to learn about Earth-10, where he also landed in 1938...in Czechoslovakia. The Nazis had a field day with his ship. Amazingly, his counterpart Overman was the only member of the New Reischman to carry a sense of guilt about it. He was involved in Nazi atrocities but deeply regrets it and is trying his best to make up for it. While he was too young to fight in WW2, Somishka hates Nazis by default, and the Soviets were easily the most heated rivals of the Nazis during the war. Still, the fact that even in that timeline he had some sense of good was something to note. It's a factor behind Ultraman being Somishka's least favorite counterpart, as he never held any potential for heroism. Earth-23 was a much needed palette cleanser; a universe where he was black and got into politics, becoming US President, and an effective one at that. Somishka thinks of Calvin Ellis as his good counterpart
    • Some other timelines include him being raised by the Waynes and becoming Batman, and being seized by the US government. Didn't exactly end well for "Subject One", and it makes him glad he was raised by farmers instead of the Red Army and thus directly under Stalin. It's given him a little bit of pity for Homelander due to how he was raised in a cold, unfeeling lab, but he reminds himself he's a psychopathic narcissist. It's also given him a lot of sympathy for the Last Man of Alcatraz. He was a Superman Substitute that genuinely wanted to do good, but he was ruthlessly exploited by the US government, and later on the Lunarians, being brainwashed to do evil before eventually snapping for real. The Last Son is now a Tragic Monster beyond reasoning, much as Somishka wants to reach out to him, but he knows he has to be stopped even if he wished there was some other way.
  • His redemption is seen as a massive disappointment by many a tyrant, Zod musing that while he could hardly call him an ally while he was Soviet premier he had his respect for how he led the Soviet Union. Darkseid and YHVH were going to see him as an opponent anyway but they preferred him as a villain because he aligned more with their own ideals and philosophies. The Network thought he could've been a great emissary and promoter. Somishka for what it's worth wants to divorce himself from any tyrant, especially if they had the same kind of beliefs he used to be. Some tyrants weren't disappointed because they knew they were always too evil for him to handle; we're talking your Dr Weils and your IT. Others even more so. Clu was perhaps the most sympathetic yet disappointed of Kal-L, as his desire to seek perfection means he sympathizes with his hardship at making a better world. Somishka coldly responded that he cannot accept his genocide.
  • Nikita Dragovich is perhaps the most upset by his turn because he saw him as an ideal vessel of ensuring Soviet and communist domination, however Superman looks at him with contempt. He's called him out for acting like the Red Army's sworn enemies, musing he reminds him of Pyotr Roslov and Stalin himself. Dragovich is arguably more envious than frustrated as Superman's time as Soviet Premier was a fulfillment of his wildest dreams; he cannot imagine how one moralizing letter broke his desire to rule. The Aryan Brotherhood weren't so much disappointed as they were disgusted by an alien taking over the USSR, but since they're Boomerang Bigot trash Somishka doesn't give a damn what they think. Somishka has tried not to moralize by saying he was better than Volgin, even though Volgin was definitely worse, but he does see him as another ugly reminder of past misdeeds and misdeeds of the Soviet Union.
  • If there's a figure of the Soviet Union who the Red Son Superman looks up to, and fanboys over for that matter, it's General Zhukov, perhaps the greatest general of the Red Army during WWII, who helped saved Russia from the Nazis back when he was a kid. Georgy Zhukov is flattered, though cautious; he's quite familiar with the Decadent Court of Stalin and his inner circle, which Somishka used to be part of. He's not interested in comic books, but Superman: Red Son was a noteworthy read. Ascended soldiers of the Red Army were initially wary of Kal-L due to the time he was a dictator. The Superman of Earth-30 helped break tension by making a Rousing Speech that it is men like Vasily Zaytsev, Private Koslov, Seargent Reznov and Private Petrenkov who are The Real Heroes, heroes he can't help but admire. His sincere desire to do good and make up for his past actions helped win him over, and they were proud to have a Superman of their own. He'll admit Reznov is a bit hardcore, but he still counts him as a righteous comrade.
  • The Emperor of Mankind wasn't fond of Somishka's past, being that he is one way or another an alien who almost ruled the world, though as a ruthless dictator himself a lot of his critiques could be pointed at him. The Emperor defends this by saying while his own means are similar, he has far worse threats to deal with that need his extremist actions. Billy Butcher also isn't convinced that his redemption is genuine and his past deeds help fuel his hatred of supes, not helped by his comic self coming to the conclusion all supes, himself and the other Boys included, need to die. The other Boys only tolerate him begrudgingly, as while they accept he wants to try and live a normal human life and make up for his past deeds they aren't ready to trust him yet. On that path to redemption, Somishka tends to work with those who hold their own regrets about past extremism, who he counts as more full-fledged allies. Merlina tried to keep her world alive at any cost, however after being defeated by Sonic he was able to inspire her to accept its mortality and adopt The Anti-Nihilist philosophy.

Alright. Perhaps it's time to get back in the game.

In case anyone forgot, I made a claim for it.

No-Thumbs Mode

There's actually more to these than I thought. Which name do I use, though?

Gelatinous Cubes, Deities of Gelatinous Encasement ("Scientific Name: Athcoid")

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/638063882505895317.png

  • Potential House: Traps
  • [tup]s:
  • Lesser or Intermediate Deities
  • Symbol: Itself with a number of floating bones, armor, and loot inside
  • Alignment: Unaligned (as they're not sapient or even sentient, they don't even qualify as True Neutral)
  • Portfolio: Blob Monster, Gelatinous Encasement, Acid Attack, Color-Coded for Your Convenience (or, non-color coded, rather) Blending In The Background, Stripped to the Bone 10 to 15 only
  • Domain(s): Ooze, Absorption, Acid
  • Allies:
  • Rivals:
  • Enemies:

  • Now, Gelatinous Encasement can either be hilarious or nightmarish depending on what the substance trapped in is. And the Gelatinous Cubes from the realms of the Dungeons & Dragons multiverse were chosen for this trope because they're all about this gimmick, and are mostly on the nightmarish end since they consume whatever organic matter they encase. Oh, and by the way, the term Gelatinous Cube? That's just what adventurers call it. Scholars from the realms it originates have a scientific term for them: the Athcoid.
    • As for how they arrived in the Pantheon… they've always been there from the start. They only just recently gained notice after the appearance of a specimen in Edgin's party's adventure. Once that happened, somebody in the Court of the Gods decided to officiate it. And with no real competitors for the title in mind, the Cubes were made Pantheon deities, where pretty much nothing has changed for them.
  • Gelatinous Cubes are immune to being Blinded, Charmed, Deafened, put to Exhaustion, Frightened, or knocked Prone (as a cube, it has no "upright" side to be knocked out from). They have a "blindsight" of 60 feet (and are blind beyond that), though some specimens have a range as large as 120 feet. Cubes take up their entire space (usually a 5 x 5 x 5 foot cube, but can expand as far as 10 feet in all dimensions), and weigh as heavy as 15,000 pounds. Other entities can enter said space, but if they do, they're subjected to the cube's Engulf and have disadvantage escaping it. Those inside the cube can be seen, but are completely protected by the Cube from outside attacks (though the Cube itself takes damage from those attacks).
  • Anyone within 5 feet of a cube can try to remove anyone or anything out of it, but it requires significant strength, and will suffer some acid damage during the attempt. Cubes can only hold one living entity of similar size—or up to four living entities of smaller sizes— at a time, and any number of items. That said, they're mostly transparent and thus beneath notice unless the cube has moved or attacked within sight of them (or floating objects in its mass are noticed), and Gelatinous Cubes tend to stay in place for long periods of time, so anything that runs into them tend to be surprised.
  • Don't let their size fool you: Gelatinous Cubes can be a bit faster than expected if need be, and can travel up to 15 feet within 6 seconds (since 1 D&D!round is roughly that much time). In terms of offense, if it's not moving to engulf its target (who can resist it enough to just be shoved back or aside), a Gelatinous Cube attacks with a Pseudopod (extends a part of itself), dealing acid damage to whatever it touches. And if one is Engulfed, it's even worse; the victim can't breathe, is restrained, and takes more acid damage as long as they're inside the Cube, and are naturally move with the Cube if it does move. But it's not impossible to escape the Cube once inside, just rather difficult.
    • That said, previous iterations of these entities don't actually attack with a pseudopod, and there's more to it than the Monster Manual tells. These Cubes have a layer of anesthesia that cause the entire outside of its body, and looks like a gummy secretion that is absorbed within the bloodstream of the prey through the skin when the Cube uses a pseudopod to apply it. This would paralyze its victim for 1 to 2 minutes, making them mostly unable to "swim" out of the Cube.
  • Athcoids are non-sentient, and therefore cannot be charmed or magically controlled. They do always respond to certain stimunli the exact same way though, enabling it to be manipulated by evil and good alike.
    1. An Athcoid will cease to advance upon encountering a cold surface or object, and will instead probe to find a way past or around it. That said, it is actually resistant to the cold, on top of being immune to electricity.
    2. An Athcoid is lured to warmth and vibrations, which explains its "blindsight". On a different note, this means Athcoids can be lured by lava, and some folks have seen these Cubes get immolated throwing themselves into volcanoes.
    3. Despite their name, Gelatinous Cube bodies are remarkably moldable. They could flow around objects and through narrow passages as small as 1 foot, quickly returning to their shapes once enough space was available. They even sometimes take the form of rhombohedrons when at rest.
    4. Athcoids actually can move underwater with ease, though its paralyzing agent is diluted while submerged.
  • In terms of reproduction, Athcoids are functionally immortal, only dying from adventurers, starvation, or natural disasters. They have a tendency to split every 6 years into smaller identical halves that go their separate ways. That said, these Cubes may sometimes also just bud away a small "baby cube" amongst trash or in a dark corner, letting it grow eventually as it absorbs smaller entities until it reaches full "maturity" (if it doesn't get reabsorbed by its "parent" by then). But when two Athcoids meet, they always fuse into a much larger and stronger version of themselves, though this only lasts between 2 to 8 days, after which they split and part ways again. This only applies to two Athcoids; three or more that fuse just split up again as soon as possible.

  • Those who have manipulated these Cubes into their lairs have found them to be rather efficient cleaners, removing all manner of roaches, vermin, and moss, while leaving weapons, armor, and magical items intact (either left behind or inside itself). As such, they're a staple in most dungeons that

  • Despite their threat level to adventurers, there are those who have "domesticated" them for waste disposal in sewers and outhouses. since they can't climb or dissolve nonorganic tissue, they're mostly unable to escape if the hole they're in is deep enough. Given how Athcoids reproduce, its population does need to be kept under control so as not to flood the hole they're in.

They were especially favored by the drow god Ghaunadaur, who is thankfully not in the Pantheon. They've also been believed to be either fragments or the spawn of Juiblex, who is able to exert control over them, imbuing them with a sense of purpose and even intelligence. One of these intelligent cubes calls itself Glabbagool, though it wanted to avoid fighting, and was genuinely curious about the world and the people that inhabited it.

Then I'd like to nominate Edelgard von Hresvelg from Fire Emblem: Three Houses to be the Goddess of Anti-Nepotism and Abolisher of Fantastic Caste Systems.

To explain: In the setting of Fire Emblem: Three Houses some people are born bearing Crests, a form of magic passed down through bloodlines that can grant their bearers boons to their physical or magical abilities. According to the teachings of the setting’s dominant religious institution, Crests are a blessing from the Goddess and being born with one is a sign of her favor. Consequently, those families whose bloodlines may produce Crested descendants are exalted above the rest to form an aristocratic ruling class, and members of those bloodlines in which a Crest actually manifests are elevated above those who do not manifest a Crest (for instance, it’s commonplace for a Crestless firstborn son to lose his inheritance if his younger sibling is born with a Crest). However, despite being a Crest bearing noble herself, Edelgard despises the system of social status and political power being determined by a person’s bloodline and has dedicated her life to abolishing it in favor of a system where everybody has equal opportunities and positions of power are awarded based on their qualifications instead of who their family is or what Crest they have. Even if it costs her everything to achieve.

[up] I have Edelgard approved and reserved with Dimitri and Claude in a group profile for Faction-Specific Endings. Also, I think Fantastic Caste System should go to someone who lives in, supports or runs that system, not one who wants to abolish it.

[up][up] So when it comes to Three Houses, I'm probably going to wait for at least the main cast to get ascended before I (and anyone else for that matter) can be considered working on. I do have some Three Houses suggestions in my sandbox, but until I get Rhea ascended (as well as Excessive's profile draft on the House Leaders), they're gonna be stuck for a while.

Adoption is also an option, but I'd honestly wait + most of the remaining Fire Emblem profiles could greatly benefit with a rework somewhere down the line.
