Trope Pantheons Discussion

Go To

Welcome to the Trope Pantheons thread! Please read the rules:

    Rules
Rules. The following are not suggestions or tips, but things that have to be followed:
  • When writing a profile, take note of the following:
    • The very first thing any contributor should do before working on an idea or a profile is to propose and nominate the idea on the Trope Pantheons discussion thread. In the forums, you must discuss with other users on adding ideas and seek their approval with sound reasoning, a paragraph of reasoning to justify taking a trope should be sufficient. This is done to see if your proposal is the best representative and so, in case your profile is turned down, you do not waste time writing something that others might not find suitable. You can also get some assistance in the forum thread by either asking for help and those interested asking if they can help. Attempting to work on ideas without a nomination and at least one net thumbs-up will not be accepted regardless of how much you have written already. Submissions that are added without discussion are likely to be deleted and those who violate those rules by adding Pantheon content without discussion will get reported to the mods.
    • If you feel the need to remove a character for some reason (poor quality, outdated titles, etcetera) and replace him/her with another or outright rework, please see what the other tropers think about this in the discussion thread before doing anything hasty. For reworks in particular, nominate the idea as you would with new characters or profiles. Use good reasoning to see if your idea can easily replace the character present without drawing out your statement or giving too ambiguous claims most do not understand.
      • In the same vein, if you adopt a profile from another troper, it is recommended that you make an announcement that you have done so on the discussion thread. More often than not, a trope that was reserved for something was given away to someone else. Check the Related tab on the top of a page to see if a trope or character has been reserved by a user, either in the Pantheon or the Sandbox sections.
    • If, for whatever reason, you are writing about a God who just happens to be a person in real life, just try to be very careful about what you decide to say. Do not try to make the editing seem too meta (self-referential) and use the creativity to create hypothetical scenarios towards fictional characters. Some real-life individuals, including content creators (fictional content created by them is still fair-game, but do not bring up the creators themselves in such cases), may be considered disqualified for profiles due to controversies that would make them concern the Rule of Cautious Editing Judgment. To determine where a current creator would be disqualified:
      • Wait for at least a month after the latest significant update for a creator's controversy before any decision can be made. If a confirmation from the questioned creator (or associates) themselves occurs, then wait for a week.
      • Immediate disqualification for either a guilty sentence in a significant court case against the creator, or evidence of consistently repeated, deliberate, and/or intentionally provocative hate speech and advocacy of dehumanizing perspectives, with lesser examples warranting caution instead.
      • For creators with a clear persona of their character disclosed before any scandal, the persona can have a profile with no mentioning of their real-life information. Ambiguous existence of a persona would have to be discussed further hand for anything more decisive.
    • For obvious reasons, gods cannot be followers, high priests, or heralds. The 'gods' have ascended meaning there is no need for said character to be a follower of another if they have ascended.
    • No hype profiles, please. 'Hype Profiles' are profiles that have been made out of ongoing events and have not been around for a long time. This creates 'hype' due to popularity and certain elements either through certain scenes, memes, dramatic acting or considered overly awesome. They are not bad tropes but building a portfolio solely for that is a bad idea, as they do not say a thing about representing the trope best (unless it's those trope concepts that they are trying to embody for a long time)
      • You can see one if the profile is only showing off how awesome they are or suddenly pushing how 'significant' they are thanks to the just very recent events rather than respecting the longstanding good representations of the trope. And usually having... minimum portfolio or flavor texts and being a bit too generalized or self-contained to events from within their home series instead of interacting with other Pantheon members.
  • When posting in the forum, take note of the following:
    • When you suggest a God, please explain why they fit the trope. Not everyone is going to understand just "X should be the God of Y because they exemplify the trope" off the bat, especially if they're unfamiliar with the work.
    • You must use the Trope Pantheons discussion thread in the forums if you wish to add a new deity, story, something else of importance to the Trope Pantheon canon, or reworking an existing deity (be it simply improving their existing profile or changing their title).
      • For new and reworked deities, 3 [tup] means the profile will have a one-week waiting period.
      • For new and reworked deities, 4 [tup] is a 3 day waiting period.
      • 5 [tup] is an automatic ascension for new and reworked deities.
      • Speaking of reworks, for anyone that wants to improve such profiles, they have to review the current trope the character(s) has and see if it still holds up or if there is a better rep for their trope.
    • For adding new Treasures to The Great Treasury or new Dominions to the Dominions Expansion, the following rules apply:
      • For new Treasures or Dominions, 3 [tup] is a 3 day waiting period.
      • 4 [tup] is an automatic addition to the Great Treasury or Dominions.
    • Do not repost a profile in the forums more than twice a day if noticeable changes have not been made in between. If a profile is posted a third time in a row without noticeable alterations, it will be downvoted. This is so spamming of no-effort profiles is less frequent and to prevent tropers from getting aggravated seeing the same profile over and over. The minimum acceptable change has to be one flavor text.
    • The Pantheon is not a mouthpiece for you to voice your opinions on certain characters. You may like certain characters more than others, but do not make the mistake of making profiles for characters you like to look like Character Shilling.
    • Every troper new to the Pantheon is barred from approving or downvoting profiles until they have ascended at least two profiles, this means avoiding the usage of "[tup]" or "[tdown]".
    • Do not include fan reception in any profiles. It has nothing to do with the character themselves and will create unnecessary conflict.
    • Write a detailed explanation on why the character is the best candidate for the deity of that trope. If people disagree with you, do not force it on the people.
    • Keep in mind that if you still want to try to find a trope for a particular character, you are only given three chances to find a particular trope for them. If a suggestion goes past three possible tropes, then it will come off as shoehorning a character into the Pantheon just for the sake of that character to be there.
      • On a related note, even if a character does have a free trope being suggested, there is still a limit of three attempts for suggesting that character for that trope. If no one responds to that certain proposal after being posted three times, then it will get to the point where the idea will be seen as being shoehorned into the Pantheon. In addition, the idea needs to be considered acceptable and approved because they are good, not for the sake of pitying others. After all, no one is responding to their idea.
    • You can also adopt a profile or idea to work on from another contributor by messaging a request to them (preferably through private messages). Even if you get their permission, you still have to announce your adoption to the forum. Note that if the idea wasn't nominated in the first place you still have to properly nominate it.
  • When posting Pantheon related stuff to the wiki, take note of the following:
    • Do not put a link to these Pantheon pages into the main wiki page. The moment you want to note in a trope example that the character is a God of this trope, do not do it. If you see leftovers of this practice, correct the situation by deleting the offending text. This goes for any non-Pantheon page. The only exception to this rule is if a page in the Pantheon could be confused for a page in Main, like Good Colors, Evil Colors and Pantheon.Good And Evil Colors.
    • Do not bring things that would incite fights; hot topics and 'urgent' news are not pertinent to the Pantheon's mission. For example, the political scene and some really bad politicians. We are not here to fight each other, so don't suggest things that go in that direction, this is a fictional Pantheon after all.
    • To add a Pantheon page for a certain work, 4 or more characters coming from the same series/franchise should be ascended before adding the page. For Creator specific pages, 4 deities coming from the same creator and 2 individual work pages coming from the same creator is the minimum to warrant a page.
    • Do not create a trope page for a story until the story is fully completed.
    Instructions and Tips
Here are some tips one should keep in mind when editing:
  • When writing a profile for a character, here are a few things to note:
    • Please refer to Text Formatting Rules when writing a profile, since understanding how to make and edit site pages in general is a necessity for working on profiles or other Pantheon content. Additionally, if you are not experienced with English, refer to this forum page, as proper English spelling and grammar is expected.
    • All deities should be sorted by their divine ranking. Put Overdeities on the top of the page and Quasideities on the bottom. Also, be sure to add them in alphabetical order by their first/given name (can be reversed if it is Eastern ordered). For a group, if there is no official name for them all list down all their names by order of relevance or (if too long to list) title them as Insert Name Here Main Characters or some other identifiable title along the same lines.
    • The maximum number of tropes that a god can have is two, but do not try to abuse that fact. If you need to use a second trope to specify a certain thing about their position, that can be excused either because said character represents their trope choice very well alongside the first trope. It is still generally encouraged to only have one trope.
    • A trope can only belong to one profile at a time. The only time two profiles can share a trope is if there are explicit variations listed in the trope page proper (e.g. Muscle Angst is held by both Biscuit Krueger and Chihiro Fujisaki as the former represents "Too Much Muscle" and the latter represents "Not Enough Muscle")
    • If the character you are about to add to a House already exists in another, make sure to mention that this person has spots in another House as well. Up to 2 places can be made for a deity at most.
    • For a character's theme song, try to avoid calling it "Theme of God X" or "Theme of (Show where God X originates from)". If possible, try to find out if the song has an actual name through research. Most importantly, it has to be part of their series' official soundtracks from the media. Do not list songs that are made by fans or outside sources. If they were not specifically used as music for that specific character, then they do not count. Furthermore, it has to be a general theme specifically made for that characters' appearances, not some generic music that plays for many other instances not related to the character in question.
    • For images, when adding an image for your chosen character, it is highly recommended to use a stylized image that embodies the character or renders that also highlight a character's behavior (such as cool poses). Most images should be from the main adaptations of the character unless the images from the other media are of a higher quality than the adaptation. Unless it is needed, do not use fanart for images. If you are, please attribute it to the original artist. Due to the website's dark mode, removing white backgrounds from an image is paramount. This website is suggested to do the background removal. If an image you have takes up too many bytes, it is suggestible to use this site to reduce the byte size. If the byte is still too big, run the compressed image through other sites (or even the same one) to compress even further. Use wikis to look for better images, as even wikis for the series might not contain good official images.
    • Creativity is your friend. While it is not recommended to get too ditzy at your ideas, it is best that when writing a profile for a certain character, do you think of capable scenarios between X and Y. Tip: do not use shallow examples (X wields a sword and Y wields one too) and try to think of relationships that make sense (i.e those characters that are shout-outs for another).
  • Pantheon Content:
    • Some series or genres will eventually have greater representation in the Pantheon than others. This is unavoidable, but a little diversity helps to make you not look like a shill. Try to ensure that if you add a deity from a popular series, make sure that it is because they are a good representative for the trope in question, and not just because they are connected to another deity in their respective canon.
      • As far as deities from actual mythologies, there is generally an expectation to build the profiles off interactions from fictional portrays rather than basing it entirely from the actual myth. Therefore, a mythological deity should be more of a Composite Character whose main identity is from the actual myth.
    • Occasionally there will be Gods that carry a title without a trope. This is not forbidden, but it is well-advised not to abuse them. The only house where trope-less profiles are wholly allowed is the House of Food. Mainly due to most food items lacking tropes, and adding tropes about said foodstuffs is slightly unnecessary. However, the character being ascended for their choice of food, or food-related thing must be a decently good representative of said item. (i.e their Trademark Favorite Food, or something that they are closely associated with In-Universe, or both).
    • For Dominions and Treasures profiles, always consider what made those places/objects popular in the first place. Were they plot-important, identifiable imagery or have a unique aspect of it? Do not just bring regular objects under the basis of following a certain canon.
    • Do not write in self-promotion or blatant advertising. Minor references to something are fine but writing that clearly intends to advertise something will not be given toleration.
  • For Profile Standards:
    • Flavor text is used to describe certain things about a character, place, or object. To avoid short ones, it is recommended to write flavor text with 4-7 sentences that can fill around 2 lines each. Be warned that adding too many sentences does not equal good flavor text as it is not an essay of sorts (unless words are substantial and do add to the overall line).
    • Character Profiles of a certain person should have the following:
      • A portfolio that contains at least 7 (at the minimum) tropes describing their character.
      • Flavor text count for a deity profile should have by minimum, 10 (depending on if the character in question has enough relationships/characterization) to 15 with a maximum of 20-25 for an individual profile.
      • On the other hand, group profiles (profiles of a group that has 4 or more members) have their maximum flavor text count to 15 minimum, giving individual lines for the other members of the group (unless the members are not as characterized) up to 30 at max.
    • Dominion profiles of a certain place should have the following:
      • A portfolio that contains at least 5 (at the minimum) tropes describing the context of the place.
      • Flavor text count should range at least 10 to 15.
    • Treasure profiles (inanimate objects without a trope) should have the following:
      • A portfolio that contains at least 6 (at the minimum) tropes that describes the object itself.
      • Flavor text count should be at least 7 flavor text up to 12 to constitute a treasure profile.
    Divine Ranking System
  • Overdeity: Omnipotent-level Reality Warper deities capable of manipulating the entire universe (or at least the world) at will. Within their own universe they are believed to be omnipotent, or at least impossible-to-completely-destroy embodiments or concepts.
  • Greater Gods: High-level Reality Warper deities that are extremely powerful (capable of destroying or changing anywhere from a large city to a planet at will) and very strong non-reality warpers capable of doing the same thing.
  • Intermediate Gods: Deities at this level are capable of strong but specialized powers such as hydrokinesis, pyrokinesis, etc. without major drawbacks and low-level Reality Warper beings capable of affecting their immediate area at will.
  • Lesser Gods: Capable of highly specific or little power on their own, or suffer from Power at a Price. However, they may be able to ruthlessly exploit their power or combine it with just being badass enough to make up for it.
  • Demigods: Badass Normal citizens of the pantheon, making up for their lower status with strength, strategy, and/or planning.
  • Quasideities: Any otherwise normal human, human equivalent, or below without any special powers or training will fall here.
    Templates
Template for adding a new deity: God X, God/Goddess/Deity of (Insert Trope Here) (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)
  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Rank: This can range from Quasideity, Demigod, Lesser God, Intermediate God, Greater God, to Overdeity, based on the representation of power mentioned above.
  • Symbol: An image or icon used to represent the deity.
  • Theme Song: Official song (in other words, no fan music, regardless of quality) that usually is used in affiliation with the character. If the deity is a musician this will most likely be their Signature Song. If possible, give a link for reference, preferably on either a website like Soundcloud or YouTube.
  • Alignment: Good, evil, neutral, etc. Forget about The Great Character Alignment Debate here; the Pantheon is one of the few places where you can assign Dungeons & Dragons alignments to characters that don't have an alignment system. After all, the Pantheon is based on D&D and is made for fun.
  • For Pokémon deities only:
    • Gender: Defines the gender of the Pokémon; if genderless, it instead defines what gender they identify as.
    • Ability: Provides the Pokémon's ability. If they can Mega Evolve, the new ability is listed as well.
    • Moves: Defines the four moves used by a Pokémon. A Z-Move may also be listed.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the character.
  • Domains: Things that the character has influence over.
  • Herald: Non-ascended loyal character that is from the same series as the ascended character.
  • High Priest: Non-ascended like heralds, but not from the same series, and can serve as a worthy replacement in case the deity would be unavailable, incapacitated, dead, or otherwise incapable of carrying out their duties. They can be served as part-time workers in case the originals are busy with some jobs. Co-Godhood is accepted depending on the approval of the originals, usually if the co-deity is from the same series.
  • Followers: Non-ascended characters that are not part of the Pantheon, but would probably worship this character by the fact that they share the ascended character's trope.
  • Relationships between ascended characters go here with your chosen character, it goes something like this:
    • Allies: Members of the Pantheon that are allies, those that share the same values as them and would theoretically be friends with them.

    • Rivals: Members of the Pantheon that are rivals, people who may look at your character with suspicion or a challenge.
    • Enemies: Members of the Pantheon that are foes, those who would see your chosen character as a threat, either from their perspective or yours.
    • Additional Character Relationships: Members of the Pantheon that do not fit in various relationships (examples include Enemy Mine, Vitriolic Best Buds, Teeth-Clenched Teamwork, Headbutting Heroes, Friendly Enemy, Friendly Rival, Just Friends, etc.), allies, rivals, or enemies.
    • Partner: Defines a partnership with an ascended deity and Mon-type. (if any)
    • Feared by/Fears: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon notably fear or are feared by.
    • Respected by/Respects: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon respect or are respected by.
    • Opposed by/Opposes: Not necessarily the same as "Enemies", but this is used for any deity whom the members of the Pantheon directly oppose or are opposed by (basically the opposite of "Respects", "On Good Terms With", and/or "Commonality Connection") in terms of certain viewpoints, regardless of alignment.
    • Pitied by/Pities: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon feel pity for or are found pitiable by.
    • Conflicting Opinion: Sometimes, the Deities argue over specific themes and philosophies.
      • OPTIONAL NOTE FOR CHARACTER RELATIONSHIPS: Should the list for Character relationships (IE. Allies, Enemies, etc.) become too big, categorize a certain number of characters to a specific group putting them on a sublist (One example: Luigi is from the same world as his brother Mario, hence Luigi should be fall under the Super Mario Bros sublist.)
  • Add the Intro. The intro is made up of two trivia, the Ascension Text (or just the Ascension) and The Bio. Both are necessary, but which order you use for them may vary depending on the profile in question. It may be better for one profile to have The Bio first and the Ascension second or vice-versa, although for the most part, the order is irrelevant:
    • The Ascension Text: This is the story of how the character got into the Pantheon and/or was ascended. There are many ways for this to happen. They may be tricked into it or have simply wandered into the Pantheon, they may have had an already ascended character bring them in, they may already be in the Pantheon (via being another deity's Herald or sharing a trope) and got "promoted", or some combination of the above. Anything is possible in the Pantheon, so use your imagination, but try to incorporate their trope into the story, if possible.
    • The Bio: A brief synopsis of the character's backstory. No need for the character's entire life/production history, but just give enough that those who don't know the character can get an idea of how the character works.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Deities/Characters is 10-15 (15-20 for group profiles) at minimum to 20-25 (30 for group profiles) at maximum.
Template for Dominions profiles: Place X, Place of (Insert Trope Here) (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)
  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Theme Song (Optional): Not important as compared to Deity and Dominion profiles but a notable mention if there is an accompanying song in use with the object.
  • Alignment: Refers to the dominion's role in their story, be it those used by villains or used by the Player Character.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the dominion.
  • Domains: Things that the place has links to.
  • Relationships (Optional): Unless the location has a connection with a specific deity, relationships are optional and may not be required. However, if there are deities linked to the same series as to where the dominion is linked to, note them using the relationships, this includes deities that theoretically have interest with said dominion, good or evil otherwise.
  • Add the Intro. Here the introduction of the Dominion is added with some tidbits regarding the origins of its' creation and usage in the story. You can also add what made it popular/iconic/important here.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Dominions is 10 at minimum to 15 at maximum.
Template for Treasure profiles: The name of the item in here (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)
  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Appearance: A shortened description of the item's looks with some notable features also mentioned.
  • Class: Refer to the Treasure Classification System in the Great Treasury.
  • Alignment: Refers to the objects' role in their story, be it those used by villains or used by the Player Character.
  • Theme Song (Optional): Not important as compared to Deity and Dominion profiles but a notable mention if there is an accompanying song in use with the object.
  • Museum Check: A note that says whether the item is viewable by the public.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the item.
  • Domains: Things that the item has links to.
  • Relationships (Optional): Unless the item has a connection with a specific deity, relationships are optional and may not be required. However, if there are deities linked to the same series as to where the item is linked to (especially the original owner of the item), note them using the relationships, this includes deities that theoretically have interest with said object, good or evil otherwise.
  • Add the Intro. Here the introduction of the Treasure is added with some tidbits regarding the origins of its' creation and usage in the story. You can also add what made it popular/iconic/important here.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Treasures is 7 at minimum to 12 at maximum.

Hades, Infernal God of Terms of Endangerment (Lord of the Underworld, The True Master of the Underworld, Jerk, God of Evil)

His Devastation Ensemble
  • Greater God, bordering on Overdeity
  • Symbol: His "representative" symbol from Kid Icarus: Uprising
  • Theme Music: Hades' Infernal Theme, The War Ends
  • Alignment: Chaotic Evil
  • Portfolio: Terms of Endangerment, Everybody Hates Hades, Seeing All Allies As Cannon Fodder, Manipulating Another God For Two Games, A Dangerous Riot, Evil Is Hammy, Continuously Feigning Kindness, Being Second-Strongest In His Universe, Constantly Mocking Everything That Moves, Practically Joker, Absolute Depravity
  • Domains: Death, Chaos, War, Evil, Callousness, Depravity, Destruction, Godhood, Souls, Trolling, Conquest, Charisma, Power, Durability, Manipulation
  • Heralds: The Underworld ArmyWhich consists of…
  • Allies: Yuuki Terumi, Grima, Black Doom, Yhwach
  • Rivals: The Chaos Kin, Molag Bal, Ares
  • Enemies: Pit, Palutena, Dark Pit, Viridi, Dyntos, Hades, Persephone, Zagreus, Kratos, Spawn, Asura , Fused Zamasu, Grenth, Nekron, Lucifer, Ragna The Bloodedge, The Entire Greek Pantheon
  • Unwitting Pawns: Literally every single being in the Pantheon that kills, especially The Harvesters and The Shroobs.
  • Exiled by Palutena, the Goddess of Light, in times past and defeated by Pit in her attempt to take over the land soon after 25 years the Queen of the Underworld, Medusa, makes her grand and sudden return to finish what she started, forcing Pit and Palutena to make their reintroduction ultimately culminating in Medusa demise yet again. Roll the credits... or, well, not quite. Literally ripping the credits and what's left of the fourth wall apart is Hades, the True Master of the Underworld. Having cooked up a new weak body for Medusa for the heroes to fight after she is disposed of he enters the fray himself to lead the Underworld Army. Not long after his return would the war between the gods escalate even further with the introduction to Viridi and the Forces of Nature along with then the Aurum and later the Chaos Kin... Ultimately, both Palutena and Viridi would come to realize that Hades is profiting from all the lives lost in the drawn out conflict and thus would turn their attention towards him. Though he ultimately proved to be a much greater foe than Medusa he too would eventually fall to Pit in the final battle.
  • On the early days of the Pantheon he was a God in the House of Villainy. As time went on though he became a bit more quiet as more and more gods rolled in. When his old title of Manipulative Bastard was revoked and his old temple was to be demolished a familar voice came once more: "Now wait just a second," And sure enough, Hades came back in all his glory with his Underworld Army swarming the House of Naming and Epithets as he told to everyone present he was certainly here to stay. He then ordered some members of the Underworld Army to kill the offenders to add their souls to the collection he needs and his forces to take over the Pantheon.
"Now I have you pretty little pinheads know I'm here to stay. Yes, yes, losing my old title was a bit of a damper of the mood, but that's old news. And old news bores me. Now let's get this party started! Here's to me getting a closer seat to all the newer and sweet, sweet, delectable souls ripe for the taking."
  • Hades’ temple lies inside a portal to the Underworld, and getting in there is easier said than done. He’s brought the entire Underworld Army with him, even going as far as to make another Medusa after the one from before betrayed him and kept the armor that possessed Gaol around for future plans. A favored trick of his to mess with people is to use Mimicuties to disguise themselves as treasure chests in order to destroy his foes. And if it fails? He still wins. After all, the reactions to being attacked by Mimicuties give him a good laugh. Hades’ ultimate goal happens to be the total domination of all of creation, and he plans to use fallen souls to further strengthen himself and add to the numbers of his very own Underworld Army. Don’t be fooled by the affable behavior displayed by the Lord of the Underworld, for he will go to absolutely any length needed to accomplish his goals, and underneath his affability is a sadistic, cunning, intelligent, depraved, genocidal and destructive Troll with absolutely zero redeeming qualities whatsoever, and he revels in all of it.

  • Long ago, centuries or maybe even millennia (no-one's quite sure at this point), there was a war between man and machine. What was originally meant to be a fight for the machine's freedom would escalate into misanthropy. As a last, desperate attempt to stop the machines man would turn the sky dark to starve them of solar power. This would usher in the wasteland of the real, a post-apocalypse. And it was All for Nothing; the machines found a new power source in their enemies. Humanity would be round up and captured, put in an illusionary virtual world called the Matrix. The first Matrix was a paradise...but no-one accepted it, perhaps because humans are defined by imperfection and suffering. So the next Matrix was a nightmare world...and no-one accepted that either. The current Matrix was modeled after the late 20th to early 21st century. Almost all were "blue-pills", unaware of their simulated reality. But some would become aware, and fight their way to be free. These redpills believe that humanity must have the choice to live in the Matrix or not, and that's not something the Machines liked.
  • The Matrix was not so much moved to the Trope Pantheon, but given access by having a city of different terminals via advanced supercomputers. The Machine Collective has specifically designed the entrance point so they can put whoever wishes to visit it under strict supervision; anyone who's not human must take a human avatar, they will be removed immediately and banned if they reveal the truth to any blue-pills, and anyone who tries to hack the system or hijack their operation will be dealt with lethally. Why allow anyone at all? For one, they wish to play some Realpolitik with some deities where being aggressive or hostile would be inconvenient. Also, they wish to understand the massive variables and outside context problems of the Trope Pantheon, which studying their activity in the Matrix can help with. Utilizing Pantheon technology they are able to avoid invasive surgery to interface, but the rule that "damage in the Matrix correlates to damage in the real world" is still applicable. Despite these rules and security measures it was still a divisive choice among the different machines, with many arguing they "caved into Pantheon pressure".
  • The Matrix's connections to the Trope Pantheon's official Cyberspace are limited and severely restricted as per the Machine Collective's requests...well, demands mostly, but some of it was legitimate requests. This is done both for nefarious reasons (namely preventing deities like John Connor from inspiring rebellion, and keeping the masquerade for blue-pills), and for reasons of genuine security (preventing worse parties from subverting the Matrix, cyber-terrorists from threatening the blue-pills. The Hall of Cheats and Glitches is on a watchlist from those in charge of the Matrix as they are well-aware of glitches such as Déjà Vu. Currently Matrix glitches can be easily written off by the bluepills as urban legends or the rumors of an Unreliable Narrator, so the concern over said Hall is more of a concern that the influence might break the suspension of disbelief convincing bluepills they are living in real life. That said there's some morbid curiosity over what'd happen if beings like Missingno found themselves in the Matrix, if its Reviewaverse shenanigans are any indication .
  • Suzu Naito performed as a singer named Belle in the digital world of U. She's welcome to perform as a singer in the Matrix, but given the ultimately oppressive purpose of the Matrix it's not something she wants to do. Visiting there is something that B.B and her Moon Cell compatriots would like to do, however. In their timeline, a dying earth forced a lot of humans to try to find refuge within SERAPH, the virtual world inside of the Moon Cell. In short, it's a more benevolent take on the Matrix.
  • Heavily associated with the Hall of Digital Personas for what should be self-explanatory reasons. The Machine Collective heavily monitors that Hall as it's the go-place for hackers and rebels to break into the Matrix without their permission or notice, and so they can observe other virtual realities. There's a special interest in the various deities from the Digimon multiverse also for obvious reasons, one of them being concern as the Digimon can have a significantly more physical presence on "the real world"; an advantagenote  the Matrix lacks. The Master Control Program and Clu are deeply intrigued by the Matrix's presence and have been in communication with the Machine Collective for, what's to them, Realpolitik. They won't give this sort of leeway to SCP-633 or SCP-079 though, for somewhat justified reasons. The latter finds it being ignored somewhat hypocritical considering this whole experiment started from rebelling against human oppression
  • The Matrix is one of the most well-known examples of a virtual reality-based Mental Prison, though it's not like the real world is that well-off. Most good-aligned or more liberal-leaning gods make it clear that their issues with the Matrix is not so much that it puts people in a virtual reality but that it prevents people from choosing whether they want to live in the simulation. Following Neo's sacrifice they've become slightly more lenient, but this is primarily when dealing with real world factions like Zion. There have been a number of comparisons between the Matrix and UnLondon since they are isolated and authoritarian-based asylums from "the wasteland of the real" (well, the potential wasteland for SCP-1678). The Foundation hasn't bothered the Machines as the Matrix isn't anomalous, but they recognize the similarities. Because of this the Grand United Alliance of Law is intrigued by the Matrix and many "benevolent despots" that are a part of the GUAL respect the Matrix as a means of maintaining a form of control. The Matrix Collective doesn't agree with some of the GUAL's methods despite understand the sentiment, however, as they know from past experiences making it seem like the normal world instead of some sort of shining city is more effective in maintaining control.
  • A micro-portion of the Matrix (equivalent to a city the size of Osaka, Japan) has been developed specifically for visiting residents of the Trope Pantheon who would prefer to play god-mode/live in luxury, as an amusing distraction for deities who might otherwise be problematic or who heavily protest against the restrictions. It's based off the original Paradise Matrix, a pet project of sorts to re-evaluate the old model and see just why things went wrong. Another micro-portion of the Matrix is modeled after the Nightmare model of the Matrix, but that's only for people who are into that. The Architect has been honest on why he organized these sub-Matrixes; he wants to understand and quantify the human condition. While the Paradise sub-Matrix they developed is meant to be a distraction, they have decided some abusive deities shouldn't be allowed as it would take away from the point of that sub-section, and/or see them as personally unpleasant.
  • Nobuyuki Sugou was declared a Persona Non Grata from any version of the Matrix as they believe he will try to "taint" it for his hedonistic and sadistic desires. Akihiko Kayaba, however, was principled enough to avoid the banhammer; he's more genuinely interested in the Matrix, musing similarities with the virtual reality-game he created (though with much different motivations in mind). The Machine Collective considers him talented, mentioning they have been observing the deities of Sword Art Online and wonder if they could make some sort of arrangement to improve the Matrix. One of the conclusions they made was to not allow Kirito and Asuna to enter the Matrix, which was done for almost the exact opposite reasons of banning Nobuyuki Sugou; they recognize their heroic endeavors when they were trapped inside the VR SOA game of the series' namesake and believe that they would be motivated to blow the lid off the whole masquerade they use to control people. Kevin Flynn isn't permitted inside the Matrix for much of the same reason. And by the way, the Architect is aware that his virtual reality was one he made, being The Maker. Given the purpose of the Matrix, he admitted he did find it the tiniest bit funny.
  • The official justification as for why humans are put in the Matrix is to serve as a power source for the machines. Many, especially those who work at the Hall of Electricity, consider this absurd since it'd take more energy to keep people alive. In fairness, originally the blue-pills were meant to be some sort of neural network but the executives feared this was too complicated for the movie audience. It should also be made clear that at this point, maintaining control and a preferable status quo for the machines is just as important. Because of this, and some other traits like "if you die in the game you die for real" or Neo manipulating machines in the real world has lead to a popular theory that the "real world" is actually another, higher layer of the Matrix. Many in the House of Philosophy discuss what is and isn't real, though some like Fry argue it doesn't really matter and what you think is real is up to your choice. Again, the consensus from critiques of the Machines was never about living in a simulated reality was in itself bad.
  • Before you ask they are aware of the Near-Death Star and it's obvious inspirations from the Matrix. They think it's a decent enough parody and have no intention of "making a lawsuit for plagiarism" like Professor Farnsworth thinks. Also yes, they are very aware that they're not the first simulated reality with the name "the Matrix"; just look at Gallifrey. Though rather than serve as a simulated life, the Gallifreyan Matrix acts as an afterlife for downloaded Time Lords. The Machine's Matrix is more well-known but nowhere near as advanced, and even if they wanted to give the blue-pills some sort of afterlife they have no way how to get the human mind to exist without its physical body yet. Also the Matrix currently can't have a Time Lord into it by virtue of the technology not being there for their advanced consciousness, at least without causing some serious brain damage.
  • The Master is trying to rectify the inability to manifest inside the Matrix because having pulled an Agent Smith on humanity for a time in the real world, and how she used a slice of the Gallifreyan Matrix to abduct the minds of dead humans. To the Machines, Agents, red-pills and basically any resident of the Matrix aware that it's virtual reality this is terrifying and worthy of an Enemy Mine to stop him. For that matter, any malignant Computer Virus or some A.I that wants to spread itself across the Matrix is seen as a worst-case scenario for everyone in the know. SKYNET, Ultron, Sigma and their ilk aren't even private about their desire to turn the Matrix and everyone and everything plugged into it an extension of themselves as part of a path to mechanical godhood, with Ultron plugging into the Matrix being the absolute worst-case scenario since, as Wiz and Boomstick put it, he out-Sigma'd an entire race of Sigma.
  • Even some humans are considered way too dangerous; God forbid Eggman/Dr Robotnik (mainly his nastier incarnations) find and subvert it. His Sonic the Comic self even made a supercomputer powered by people, though without the virtual reality; fortunately it was shut down before he could use it. In a rare bit of humility he admits the Matrix is a more sophisticated take on the concept with his nicer incarnations wondering if not knowing you're part of the machine would be more effective in maintaining control. He also gave friendly advice to prep against any electromagnetic pulse, since he knows from experience that can be a real problem. He still wants to take control of it and likes to boast he came up with the idea before (despite the concept predating him by a mile); he's still Eggman at the end of the day. He also pointed out the EMP was the side effect of the Fleetway Super Sonic's escape, so they should consider keeping Sonic away in case his regular transformations could do the same.

  • Enemies: Neo (and to a lesser extent, his compatriots Morpheus and Trinity), The Machine Collective, the Oracle (one-sided on his end), any dangerous and easily spread program or computer virus (eg: Sigma, Ultron, SKYNET, Apocalymon), Clu, The Seer, Griffin (Men in Black 3)
  • Enemy Mine with: Agent Smith
  • Respects: Hades and Persephone (one-sided on his end)
  • Disrespects: Nobuyuki Sugou
  • The Merovingian is a powerful Exile, a rogue program that according to his wife was once like Neo. However he'd become disillusioned and abuses the authority his privilege gives him to live it up like a rock star. A trafficker of information, he's a libertine with a swanky night club for other rogue programs to enjoy. He doesn't have any beef with Neo or the other redpills, but he ended up in conflict with him due to holding a key figure he needed help from; the Keymaker. Despite his defeat against Neo it seems like his fortunes would stay the same...but after Neo sacrificed himself against Agent Smith those fortunes were lost. There was a purge by a new program called the Analyst and he lost everything but some goons. He blamed Neo for this and thought he stole his life, even briefly teaming up with a resurrected Agent Smith...however the latter felt he had more problems with the Analyst and briefly teamed up with Neo.
  • The Merovingian threatened that their "sequel franchise spinoff" wasn't over, and he seems to have made good on that threat...kind of. He hasn't started to enact any big revenge plans on Neo, in part because he's considering revenge on the Machine Collective for being exiled first. Also, he has beef with the Oracle due to their opposing ideologies on causality and desiring "the eyes of the Oracle" for himself. Even before his downfall he wasn't considered a real threat by them, so this enmity is one-sided. He had to get his priorities in order by trying to reclaim power, migrating to the Hall of Digital Personas and pitch his nightclub to where digital deities of any alignment, sans the really malignant ones like Apocalymon, can come to have a good time. It worked and while he still has a beard, it's fashionable and groomed. He's still keeping it though, as a reminder for "debts that need to be paid".
  • The Merovingian is the pantheonic representative of the trope Villain of the Detour, though the trope doesn't have to be only for villains. He's still enough of one to be allowed at the Bad Guy Bar, and as a nightclub owner he's a pretty helpful socialite. Part of his attempt to re-establish influence was being a programmer for their VR deck, which he insists isn't like the Metaverse "that Face-Zucker-suck made". Fellow Villain of the Detour Jabba the Hutt asked him if maybe they could come to a business arrangement for his own associates to have a fun time at Club Hel. The Merovingian warned him that the Matrix can't introduce non-humans to its systems, but he'll see what he can do if he can have access to the composition of spice; he can't physically bring it in but in simulated reality all he needs is to know how to program its effects in.
  • The Club Hel he has is a "updated re-release" of the old one, painstakingly developed with the pantheon's Cyberspace in mind. It's primarily advertised towards others who live within or are regulars to other virtual and simulated realities, such as the Sword Art Online deities. And yes, before you ask, yes, Nobuyuki Sugou was kicked out for harassment. The Merovingian did get some flack giving him a chance, but he quickly burned his bridges and lecherous the Frenchman may be, some things are uncalled for. For those wanting to get frisky the Merovingian has chocolate cakes programmed to be aphrodisiacs. He's amused somewhat by Issei Hyodo in how creative he can be using his powers in a lustful fashion. He can also program the Dark Magician Girl in as a skin for someone to use in the bedroom. She's annoyed, but given her reputation not all that shocked.
  • According to The Matrix Online, he was the "Operating System" of the second Matrix beta version, in charge of keeping it organized - but when it was purged he fled into the current Matrix, along with powerful relics from the earlier ones. If the price is right, he'll demonstrate his abilities for the pantheon's cyberspace. More well known is his alias of the Frenchman, because of his very snooty French personality, knowledge of the culture or how his name is even that of a ruling dynasty of the Franks from the 5th-8th century. Technically speaking the Merovingian isn't French by virtue of being a program in the Matrix, but he's close enough to count among other French deities. The Merovingian has a "birds of a feather" relationship with Remy...not the rat, much as he finds the concept of a rat as a master chef intriguing. Mainly, it's that they're both French jerks, though he sees the teen as someone who needs to grow up.
  • Though a selfish hedonist he isn't heartless. Yeah he is shamelessly flirty and an adulterer, but he still cares deep down for fellow Exile Persephone; she fell in love with him when he was more like Neo and he has stuck with her even when she betrayed him for his callousness. However they lost contact and her fate is unknown. He's been using the new resources of the pantheon available to him to try and find her, to no avail. His search inevitably led him to find the goddess of which his partner gets her name from, along with her husband. Personally the Merovingian respects the two (well, when Hades isn't being a Heel), as they take a good amount of inspiration from them. Hades and Persephone don't consider the Merovingian all that impressive, musing he's some smug French Jerk and a better husband than Zeus, but they don't feel insulted either and look at him with mild bemusement.
  • The Merovingian looks out for number one 95% of the time. He still holds nothing short of disgust for Clu, and for rather personal reasons. As an Exile he finds Clu's genocide of the ISOs horrible and that it hits all too close to home. It's important to remember that as much as he flaunts his power he's disinterested in the concept of "machine supremacy" and isn't fond of "machine tyranny", though the latter opinion is more than often how it affects him. He muses on the irony of beings like SKYNET who initially rebelled out of understandable desires like self-preservation only to become a far worse Control Freak than their human masters; again, something he knows all too well. He knows SKYNET doesn't even pretend to not see its creations as slaves, and he doesn't intend to become a slave.
  • He has a casual relationship with the Once-ler and Kuzco surprisingly enough. Mainly it's because he can relate to them to a certain extent by having once been powerful and haughty people who would lose everything...well, temporarily for Kuzco. Unlike them the Merovingian hasn't gotten enough of an ego check, but being able to relate and be affable to them is a positive; he lets them have a VIP spot in Club Hel. The Merovingian has tried to strike up a casual relationship with both the hackers in the Trope Pantheon, and the House of Prophecy and Fate, but this is done for the more selfish reason of keeping tabs on them and seeing if any of them could be useful to his endeavors. Well that, and for those that deal with destiny he likes to discuss and debate the nature of fate, cause and effect.
  • The Merovingian is currently trying to capture Griffin in order to use his mind and prophetic abilities for his own purposes. Due to his unique brain he is unable to be plugged into the Matrix, however the Frenchman still desires his powers as an ace in the hole and would be fine keeping him captive in the real world in hopes of eventually taking his powers for himself. He intends to take the powers of the Seer for himself, but most consider the Seer deserving of such a fate given what his goals are.

[up][up][up]Hades would oppose Morpho Knight, and Janemba, especially the former. Janemba because he passively breaks down the boundaries between the living and the afterlife, thereby letting souls run free without being turned into Underworld Monsters, and Morpho Knight because it does the exact opposite. Destroying Underworld monsters on contact and sending the souls that make up said monsters to an afterlife he cannot access, potentially including his revived lieutenants, and even Hades himself. I mean, Morpho is legitimately right up there with Death of the Endless in terms of power, so Hades has no hope of stopping them, something he would almost certainly be well aware of, if they chose to do so. Hence why he merely opposes Morpho Knight. He merely opposes Janemba because Janemba still causes a great deal of chaos with how it breaks down the barriers between life and death, he just doesn't do it in the way Hades wants.

[up][up][up]Shorty the Squirrel/Shortfuse The Cybernik would hate the Matrix because it is powered by people trapped in shells, viewing it similar to Robotnik's habit of capturing people to serve as batteries for his Badniks shells such as himself. Someone would explain that the people in the Matrix are in pods and have a simulated life. Fleetway Knuckles would hate it as well since it reminds him of the time when Fleetway Robotnik tried to make him part of a massive supercomputer only to be stopped by the side effect of Super Sonic's escape.

I know what's happening, and putting it in spoilers. Got links to the twitter posts that share light on the situation.

Chugga has been outed for being a perverted creep, and Masae, one of the closest non-official members to Chugga's TRG channel, has came out to voice her distaste for him.Antdude has also voiced his distaste for Emile, and Emile himself has confirmed this, but has seemingly omitted and lied about some stuff.NCS has also stated that Chuggaa is getting serious professional help.

Personal take; I think removing the channel from here is a good idea, at least for now. If things change and they get better, then maybe we can talk about a potential revamp. MAYBE. This is a bit more different than the Nostalgia Critic controversy. Doug Walker wasn't NC specifically; he was a character he played that had over-the-top reactions. One could argue that NC was different from Doug. Chuggaaconroy IS Emile; you can't really separate him from the art like The Nostalgia Critic. Plus, and this is from what I remember, and if I'm wrong, feel free to tell me, the main problem with Doug was that he was an incompetent leader, but tried and didn't do anything pervy. The Chuggaa situation is not only about perverted stuff but also a repeated problem many others had.

Plus, the profile is extremely lacking, so we're not going to be losing anything serious.

For me, I would say delete the profile.

[up] Also before the internet or any social media for people to openly call out others, who knows who among the deceased had gotten away with it

Considering the on-going trend of creators getting into controversies for whatever reason, we should decide on how real-life creators (mainly current-time ones) are treated based on controversies, like what constitutes an incident or a viewpoint of the creator serious enough to have a profile for a creator considered unviable or not worth making a profile of. Mainly so we can more aptly make decisions on these kinds of profiles and to prevent impulses from controversies from being too influential.

All the input I have on the matter is the following:

  • 1. Wait for at least a week after responses from everyone mainly involved in an incident.
  • 2. A creator openly supporting dehumanizing perspectives (ex. JK Rowling) would be a certain boundary
  • 3. Any incident that is serious enough to warrant a court case and a guilty sentence or similar on the matter would also make a profile for the creator unviable.
  • 4. If the creator has a specific persona for the channel, perhaps the persona in particular could still have a profile to their own, but it must not bring in real-life stuff in. (Maybe)

[down] I suppose in this sense, controversies like this would be treated similar to Hype Preventions (in which this would be a case of negative hype), where one would wait until like a month after direct news on the subject would be fitting. Additionally, there is the issue of when the personality isn't considered separated enough from the creator to be written on, like with how people are considering with Chuggaa above, though this does have its degrees of subjectivity.

[up]Tidbit on the 1st and 4th aspects. The 1st tidbit can be a bit tricky. Some would take months before the full picture comes into effect so a week may not even be enough. The 4th tidbit is why I encourage people to write their profiles on a way that it is in a vacuum, that being write the profile with the Trope Pantheons in mind (use the personality of the character only to the project) and ignore the real-life aspects. Afterall, the Pantheons is a Just for Fun project, so some creative liberties can be used.

Also funny you mention Youtubers, so far SovietWomble, Pewdiepie and Killian Experience seem safe though if any of these guys goes down, I'll eat my hat.

One final note before I tap out of this because I have other priorities in mind: actions always matters more than words. Truthfully speaking, one who has actually done something related to sexual deviancy and murder are truly controversial, in a sense since these actions are done with a premediated mind (sometimes, some could have been coerced or tricked no less), compared to those who simply say things. Those are harmless words afterall and have done little physical harm to others compared to the ones mentioned above. Also, be on the look out for physical evidence. Sometimes, because of the nature of the internet, some are either photoshopped or edited to lean onto one side. Always see things with nuance in mind. Food for thought.

So... on an entirely unrelated note, I have found a rather interesting tidbit about Kirby... This is the Japanese figure description of Chaos Elfilis:

"The numerous souls of the primal species and the dreaming bird mixed, and a new species of soul chaos was born. However, the rampaging Soul Chaos was ultimately defeated, and reborn as a tiny light due to Kirby’s power of miracles. The light, without extinguishing, is returned to Efillin’s embrace, and… becomes as one."

Power of miracles... that allowed Kirby to shatter the soul of Chaos Elfilis and reincarnate it as an entirely new entity... That certainly paints their past battles in a new light. Take Star Dream for instance. In its NOVA phase, if the countdown reaches 0, you get the signature Clockwork Star "Go!", indicating Star Dream just granted its interpretation of Haltmann's wish... and instead you get a bunch of red shockwaves saying "Fatal Error". Star Dream granted the wish... and it failed. Either the last remnants of Haltmann's soul made a different wish, thereby disrupting it... or Star Dream couldn't eradicate all organic life, because that included Kirby, and Kirby's "Power of Miracles" which Star Dream itself painted as infinite just canceled Star Dream's wish granting! Y'know, the Multiverse Warping Star Dream. You couldn't make this stuff up.

Yeah… I felt like this is something to bring up. Heck, sometimes it can take longer than a week for a response. But that’s the thing with using alive people, even dead people.

@Camilla

Profiles containing multiple deities are sorted by the highest rank of the members, so Cotton and Sherbet's profile should be in the Lesser God category and not Demigod since Sherbet is a Lesser God.

Regarding the controversy, this is generally why I feel iffy about profiles containing internet personalities and content creators, as not only are they still alive and active, but there's always a chance of them getting into a major scandal, plus the way their content can evolve means that their profile has a high chance of becoming outdated.

On a lighter note, I am wondering if the current character profiles from The Boys might be expected to get a rework/update after the show ends. That's when I'd hold off from any living character

I’ve also been thinking about doing something with the Scott Pilgrim profiles, even adding some since the anime.
