Trope Pantheons Discussion

Go To

Welcome to the Trope Pantheons thread! Please read the rules:

    Rules
Rules. The following are not suggestions or tips, but things that have to be followed:
  • When writing a profile, take note of the following:
    • The very first thing any contributor should do before working on an idea or a profile is to propose and nominate the idea on the Trope Pantheons discussion thread. In the forums, you must discuss with other users on adding ideas and seek their approval with sound reasoning, a paragraph of reasoning to justify taking a trope should be sufficient. This is done to see if your proposal is the best representative and so, in case your profile is turned down, you do not waste time writing something that others might not find suitable. You can also get some assistance in the forum thread by either asking for help and those interested asking if they can help. Attempting to work on ideas without a nomination and at least one net thumbs-up will not be accepted regardless of how much you have written already. Submissions that are added without discussion are likely to be deleted and those who violate those rules by adding Pantheon content without discussion will get reported to the mods.
    • If you feel the need to remove a character for some reason (poor quality, outdated titles, etcetera) and replace him/her with another or outright rework, please see what the other tropers think about this in the discussion thread before doing anything hasty. For reworks in particular, nominate the idea as you would with new characters or profiles. Use good reasoning to see if your idea can easily replace the character present without drawing out your statement or giving too ambiguous claims most do not understand.
      • In the same vein, if you adopt a profile from another troper, it is recommended that you make an announcement that you have done so on the discussion thread. More often than not, a trope that was reserved for something was given away to someone else. Check the Related tab on the top of a page to see if a trope or character has been reserved by a user, either in the Pantheon or the Sandbox sections.
    • If, for whatever reason, you are writing about a God who just happens to be a person in real life, just try to be very careful about what you decide to say. Do not try to make the editing seem too meta (self-referential) and use the creativity to create hypothetical scenarios towards fictional characters. Some real-life individuals, including content creators (fictional content created by them is still fair-game, but do not bring up the creators themselves in such cases), may be considered disqualified for profiles due to controversies that would make them concern the Rule of Cautious Editing Judgment. To determine where a current creator would be disqualified:
      • Wait for at least a month after the latest significant update for a creator's controversy before any decision can be made. If a confirmation from the questioned creator (or associates) themselves occurs, then wait for a week.
      • Immediate disqualification for either a guilty sentence in a significant court case against the creator, or evidence of consistently repeated, deliberate, and/or intentionally provocative hate speech and advocacy of dehumanizing perspectives, with lesser examples warranting caution instead.
      • For creators with a clear persona of their character disclosed before any scandal, the persona can have a profile with no mentioning of their real-life information. Ambiguous existence of a persona would have to be discussed further hand for anything more decisive.
    • For obvious reasons, gods cannot be followers, high priests, or heralds. The 'gods' have ascended meaning there is no need for said character to be a follower of another if they have ascended.
    • No hype profiles, please. 'Hype Profiles' are profiles that have been made out of ongoing events and have not been around for a long time. This creates 'hype' due to popularity and certain elements either through certain scenes, memes, dramatic acting or considered overly awesome. They are not bad tropes but building a portfolio solely for that is a bad idea, as they do not say a thing about representing the trope best (unless it's those trope concepts that they are trying to embody for a long time)
      • You can see one if the profile is only showing off how awesome they are or suddenly pushing how 'significant' they are thanks to the just very recent events rather than respecting the longstanding good representations of the trope. And usually having... minimum portfolio or flavor texts and being a bit too generalized or self-contained to events from within their home series instead of interacting with other Pantheon members.
  • When posting in the forum, take note of the following:
    • When you suggest a God, please explain why they fit the trope. Not everyone is going to understand just "X should be the God of Y because they exemplify the trope" off the bat, especially if they're unfamiliar with the work.
    • You must use the Trope Pantheons discussion thread in the forums if you wish to add a new deity, story, something else of importance to the Trope Pantheon canon, or reworking an existing deity (be it simply improving their existing profile or changing their title).
      • For new and reworked deities, 3 [tup] means the profile will have a one-week waiting period.
      • For new and reworked deities, 4 [tup] is a 3 day waiting period.
      • 5 [tup] is an automatic ascension for new and reworked deities.
      • Speaking of reworks, for anyone that wants to improve such profiles, they have to review the current trope the character(s) has and see if it still holds up or if there is a better rep for their trope.
    • For adding new Treasures to The Great Treasury or new Dominions to the Dominions Expansion, the following rules apply:
      • For new Treasures or Dominions, 3 [tup] is a 3 day waiting period.
      • 4 [tup] is an automatic addition to the Great Treasury or Dominions.
    • Do not repost a profile in the forums more than twice a day if noticeable changes have not been made in between. If a profile is posted a third time in a row without noticeable alterations, it will be downvoted. This is so spamming of no-effort profiles is less frequent and to prevent tropers from getting aggravated seeing the same profile over and over. The minimum acceptable change has to be one flavor text.
    • The Pantheon is not a mouthpiece for you to voice your opinions on certain characters. You may like certain characters more than others, but do not make the mistake of making profiles for characters you like to look like Character Shilling.
    • Every troper new to the Pantheon is barred from approving or downvoting profiles until they have ascended at least two profiles, this means avoiding the usage of "[tup]" or "[tdown]".
    • Do not include fan reception in any profiles. It has nothing to do with the character themselves and will create unnecessary conflict.
    • Write a detailed explanation on why the character is the best candidate for the deity of that trope. If people disagree with you, do not force it on the people.
    • Keep in mind that if you still want to try to find a trope for a particular character, you are only given three chances to find a particular trope for them. If a suggestion goes past three possible tropes, then it will come off as shoehorning a character into the Pantheon just for the sake of that character to be there.
      • On a related note, even if a character does have a free trope being suggested, there is still a limit of three attempts for suggesting that character for that trope. If no one responds to that certain proposal after being posted three times, then it will get to the point where the idea will be seen as being shoehorned into the Pantheon. In addition, the idea needs to be considered acceptable and approved because they are good, not for the sake of pitying others. After all, no one is responding to their idea.
    • You can also adopt a profile or idea to work on from another contributor by messaging a request to them (preferably through private messages). Even if you get their permission, you still have to announce your adoption to the forum. Note that if the idea wasn't nominated in the first place you still have to properly nominate it.
  • When posting Pantheon related stuff to the wiki, take note of the following:
    • Do not put a link to these Pantheon pages into the main wiki page. The moment you want to note in a trope example that the character is a God of this trope, do not do it. If you see leftovers of this practice, correct the situation by deleting the offending text. This goes for any non-Pantheon page. The only exception to this rule is if a page in the Pantheon could be confused for a page in Main, like Good Colors, Evil Colors and Pantheon.Good And Evil Colors.
    • Do not bring things that would incite fights; hot topics and 'urgent' news are not pertinent to the Pantheon's mission. For example, the political scene and some really bad politicians. We are not here to fight each other, so don't suggest things that go in that direction, this is a fictional Pantheon after all.
    • To add a Pantheon page for a certain work, 4 or more characters coming from the same series/franchise should be ascended before adding the page. For Creator specific pages, 4 deities coming from the same creator and 2 individual work pages coming from the same creator is the minimum to warrant a page.
    • Do not create a trope page for a story until the story is fully completed.
    Instructions and Tips
Here are some tips one should keep in mind when editing:
  • When writing a profile for a character, here are a few things to note:
    • Please refer to Text Formatting Rules when writing a profile, since understanding how to make and edit site pages in general is a necessity for working on profiles or other Pantheon content. Additionally, if you are not experienced with English, refer to this forum page, as proper English spelling and grammar is expected.
    • All deities should be sorted by their divine ranking. Put Overdeities on the top of the page and Quasideities on the bottom. Also, be sure to add them in alphabetical order by their first/given name (can be reversed if it is Eastern ordered). For a group, if there is no official name for them all list down all their names by order of relevance or (if too long to list) title them as Insert Name Here Main Characters or some other identifiable title along the same lines.
    • The maximum number of tropes that a god can have is two, but do not try to abuse that fact. If you need to use a second trope to specify a certain thing about their position, that can be excused either because said character represents their trope choice very well alongside the first trope. It is still generally encouraged to only have one trope.
    • A trope can only belong to one profile at a time. The only time two profiles can share a trope is if there are explicit variations listed in the trope page proper (e.g. Muscle Angst is held by both Biscuit Krueger and Chihiro Fujisaki as the former represents "Too Much Muscle" and the latter represents "Not Enough Muscle")
    • If the character you are about to add to a House already exists in another, make sure to mention that this person has spots in another House as well. Up to 2 places can be made for a deity at most.
    • For a character's theme song, try to avoid calling it "Theme of God X" or "Theme of (Show where God X originates from)". If possible, try to find out if the song has an actual name through research. Most importantly, it has to be part of their series' official soundtracks from the media. Do not list songs that are made by fans or outside sources. If they were not specifically used as music for that specific character, then they do not count. Furthermore, it has to be a general theme specifically made for that characters' appearances, not some generic music that plays for many other instances not related to the character in question.
    • For images, when adding an image for your chosen character, it is highly recommended to use a stylized image that embodies the character or renders that also highlight a character's behavior (such as cool poses). Most images should be from the main adaptations of the character unless the images from the other media are of a higher quality than the adaptation. Unless it is needed, do not use fanart for images. If you are, please attribute it to the original artist. Due to the website's dark mode, removing white backgrounds from an image is paramount. This website is suggested to do the background removal. If an image you have takes up too many bytes, it is suggestible to use this site to reduce the byte size. If the byte is still too big, run the compressed image through other sites (or even the same one) to compress even further. Use wikis to look for better images, as even wikis for the series might not contain good official images.
    • Creativity is your friend. While it is not recommended to get too ditzy at your ideas, it is best that when writing a profile for a certain character, do you think of capable scenarios between X and Y. Tip: do not use shallow examples (X wields a sword and Y wields one too) and try to think of relationships that make sense (i.e those characters that are shout-outs for another).
  • Pantheon Content:
    • Some series or genres will eventually have greater representation in the Pantheon than others. This is unavoidable, but a little diversity helps to make you not look like a shill. Try to ensure that if you add a deity from a popular series, make sure that it is because they are a good representative for the trope in question, and not just because they are connected to another deity in their respective canon.
      • As far as deities from actual mythologies, there is generally an expectation to build the profiles off interactions from fictional portrays rather than basing it entirely from the actual myth. Therefore, a mythological deity should be more of a Composite Character whose main identity is from the actual myth.
    • Occasionally there will be Gods that carry a title without a trope. This is not forbidden, but it is well-advised not to abuse them. The only house where trope-less profiles are wholly allowed is the House of Food. Mainly due to most food items lacking tropes, and adding tropes about said foodstuffs is slightly unnecessary. However, the character being ascended for their choice of food, or food-related thing must be a decently good representative of said item. (i.e their Trademark Favorite Food, or something that they are closely associated with In-Universe, or both).
    • For Dominions and Treasures profiles, always consider what made those places/objects popular in the first place. Were they plot-important, identifiable imagery or have a unique aspect of it? Do not just bring regular objects under the basis of following a certain canon.
    • Do not write in self-promotion or blatant advertising. Minor references to something are fine but writing that clearly intends to advertise something will not be given toleration.
  • For Profile Standards:
    • Flavor text is used to describe certain things about a character, place, or object. To avoid short ones, it is recommended to write flavor text with 4-7 sentences that can fill around 2 lines each. Be warned that adding too many sentences does not equal good flavor text as it is not an essay of sorts (unless words are substantial and do add to the overall line).
    • Character Profiles of a certain person should have the following:
      • A portfolio that contains at least 7 (at the minimum) tropes describing their character.
      • Flavor text count for a deity profile should have by minimum, 10 (depending on if the character in question has enough relationships/characterization) to 15 with a maximum of 20-25 for an individual profile.
      • On the other hand, group profiles (profiles of a group that has 4 or more members) have their maximum flavor text count to 15 minimum, giving individual lines for the other members of the group (unless the members are not as characterized) up to 30 at max.
    • Dominion profiles of a certain place should have the following:
      • A portfolio that contains at least 5 (at the minimum) tropes describing the context of the place.
      • Flavor text count should range at least 10 to 15.
    • Treasure profiles (inanimate objects without a trope) should have the following:
      • A portfolio that contains at least 6 (at the minimum) tropes that describes the object itself.
      • Flavor text count should be at least 7 flavor text up to 12 to constitute a treasure profile.
    Divine Ranking System
  • Overdeity: Omnipotent-level Reality Warper deities capable of manipulating the entire universe (or at least the world) at will. Within their own universe they are believed to be omnipotent, or at least impossible-to-completely-destroy embodiments or concepts.
  • Greater Gods: High-level Reality Warper deities that are extremely powerful (capable of destroying or changing anywhere from a large city to a planet at will) and very strong non-reality warpers capable of doing the same thing.
  • Intermediate Gods: Deities at this level are capable of strong but specialized powers such as hydrokinesis, pyrokinesis, etc. without major drawbacks and low-level Reality Warper beings capable of affecting their immediate area at will.
  • Lesser Gods: Capable of highly specific or little power on their own, or suffer from Power at a Price. However, they may be able to ruthlessly exploit their power or combine it with just being badass enough to make up for it.
  • Demigods: Badass Normal citizens of the pantheon, making up for their lower status with strength, strategy, and/or planning.
  • Quasideities: Any otherwise normal human, human equivalent, or below without any special powers or training will fall here.
    Templates
Template for adding a new deity: God X, God/Goddess/Deity of (Insert Trope Here) (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)
  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Rank: This can range from Quasideity, Demigod, Lesser God, Intermediate God, Greater God, to Overdeity, based on the representation of power mentioned above.
  • Symbol: An image or icon used to represent the deity.
  • Theme Song: Official song (in other words, no fan music, regardless of quality) that usually is used in affiliation with the character. If the deity is a musician this will most likely be their Signature Song. If possible, give a link for reference, preferably on either a website like Soundcloud or YouTube.
  • Alignment: Good, evil, neutral, etc. Forget about The Great Character Alignment Debate here; the Pantheon is one of the few places where you can assign Dungeons & Dragons alignments to characters that don't have an alignment system. After all, the Pantheon is based on D&D and is made for fun.
  • For Pokémon deities only:
    • Gender: Defines the gender of the Pokémon; if genderless, it instead defines what gender they identify as.
    • Ability: Provides the Pokémon's ability. If they can Mega Evolve, the new ability is listed as well.
    • Moves: Defines the four moves used by a Pokémon. A Z-Move may also be listed.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the character.
  • Domains: Things that the character has influence over.
  • Herald: Non-ascended loyal character that is from the same series as the ascended character.
  • High Priest: Non-ascended like heralds, but not from the same series, and can serve as a worthy replacement in case the deity would be unavailable, incapacitated, dead, or otherwise incapable of carrying out their duties. They can be served as part-time workers in case the originals are busy with some jobs. Co-Godhood is accepted depending on the approval of the originals, usually if the co-deity is from the same series.
  • Followers: Non-ascended characters that are not part of the Pantheon, but would probably worship this character by the fact that they share the ascended character's trope.
  • Relationships between ascended characters go here with your chosen character, it goes something like this:
    • Allies: Members of the Pantheon that are allies, those that share the same values as them and would theoretically be friends with them.

    • Rivals: Members of the Pantheon that are rivals, people who may look at your character with suspicion or a challenge.
    • Enemies: Members of the Pantheon that are foes, those who would see your chosen character as a threat, either from their perspective or yours.
    • Additional Character Relationships: Members of the Pantheon that do not fit in various relationships (examples include Enemy Mine, Vitriolic Best Buds, Teeth-Clenched Teamwork, Headbutting Heroes, Friendly Enemy, Friendly Rival, Just Friends, etc.), allies, rivals, or enemies.
    • Partner: Defines a partnership with an ascended deity and Mon-type. (if any)
    • Feared by/Fears: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon notably fear or are feared by.
    • Respected by/Respects: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon respect or are respected by.
    • Opposed by/Opposes: Not necessarily the same as "Enemies", but this is used for any deity whom the members of the Pantheon directly oppose or are opposed by (basically the opposite of "Respects", "On Good Terms With", and/or "Commonality Connection") in terms of certain viewpoints, regardless of alignment.
    • Pitied by/Pities: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon feel pity for or are found pitiable by.
    • Conflicting Opinion: Sometimes, the Deities argue over specific themes and philosophies.
      • OPTIONAL NOTE FOR CHARACTER RELATIONSHIPS: Should the list for Character relationships (IE. Allies, Enemies, etc.) become too big, categorize a certain number of characters to a specific group putting them on a sublist (One example: Luigi is from the same world as his brother Mario, hence Luigi should be fall under the Super Mario Bros sublist.)
  • Add the Intro. The intro is made up of two trivia, the Ascension Text (or just the Ascension) and The Bio. Both are necessary, but which order you use for them may vary depending on the profile in question. It may be better for one profile to have The Bio first and the Ascension second or vice-versa, although for the most part, the order is irrelevant:
    • The Ascension Text: This is the story of how the character got into the Pantheon and/or was ascended. There are many ways for this to happen. They may be tricked into it or have simply wandered into the Pantheon, they may have had an already ascended character bring them in, they may already be in the Pantheon (via being another deity's Herald or sharing a trope) and got "promoted", or some combination of the above. Anything is possible in the Pantheon, so use your imagination, but try to incorporate their trope into the story, if possible.
    • The Bio: A brief synopsis of the character's backstory. No need for the character's entire life/production history, but just give enough that those who don't know the character can get an idea of how the character works.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Deities/Characters is 10-15 (15-20 for group profiles) at minimum to 20-25 (30 for group profiles) at maximum.
Template for Dominions profiles: Place X, Place of (Insert Trope Here) (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)
  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Theme Song (Optional): Not important as compared to Deity and Dominion profiles but a notable mention if there is an accompanying song in use with the object.
  • Alignment: Refers to the dominion's role in their story, be it those used by villains or used by the Player Character.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the dominion.
  • Domains: Things that the place has links to.
  • Relationships (Optional): Unless the location has a connection with a specific deity, relationships are optional and may not be required. However, if there are deities linked to the same series as to where the dominion is linked to, note them using the relationships, this includes deities that theoretically have interest with said dominion, good or evil otherwise.
  • Add the Intro. Here the introduction of the Dominion is added with some tidbits regarding the origins of its' creation and usage in the story. You can also add what made it popular/iconic/important here.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Dominions is 10 at minimum to 15 at maximum.
Template for Treasure profiles: The name of the item in here (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)
  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Appearance: A shortened description of the item's looks with some notable features also mentioned.
  • Class: Refer to the Treasure Classification System in the Great Treasury.
  • Alignment: Refers to the objects' role in their story, be it those used by villains or used by the Player Character.
  • Theme Song (Optional): Not important as compared to Deity and Dominion profiles but a notable mention if there is an accompanying song in use with the object.
  • Museum Check: A note that says whether the item is viewable by the public.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the item.
  • Domains: Things that the item has links to.
  • Relationships (Optional): Unless the item has a connection with a specific deity, relationships are optional and may not be required. However, if there are deities linked to the same series as to where the item is linked to (especially the original owner of the item), note them using the relationships, this includes deities that theoretically have interest with said object, good or evil otherwise.
  • Add the Intro. Here the introduction of the Treasure is added with some tidbits regarding the origins of its' creation and usage in the story. You can also add what made it popular/iconic/important here.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Treasures is 7 at minimum to 12 at maximum.

The problem is could we get a mod to add a new rule to the list of rules?

Two weeks from the trope being added sounds like the best time period to wait before suggesting gods for new tropes. If we have trouble deciding on the time period we should just put it to a vote.

One more profile proposal for the day; one is a rework and the other is a new profile and I always wanted to do these two since their movies came out.

  • Barbara "Barbie" Roberts, Goddess of Pink - Barbie is an American fashion doll introduced on March 9, 1959. Since the doll's introduction, it became an important part of the toy fashion doll market for many decades, earning its company Mattel billions of dollars in sales and became a famous icon for little girls (and adult collectors) around the world. Barbie also has also been featured numerous TV Shows, movies (from direct to TV to live action), as well as video games. Being a feminine icon, her most associated color is pink, to the point that she even has a color trademarked and named her, "Barbie Pink". The profile is missing her live-action incarnation, needs more clarity on their other incarnations (I plan to make her split into her various main incarnations as different entities) and the profile has lot of underdeveloped texts that need beefing up.

  • Julius Robert Oppenheimer, Divine Architect of the Atomic Age - Oppenheimer was the leading director of the Manhattan Project, a secret research program conducted during the Second World War. His experiences in theoretical physics earned him the task of developing the first nuclear weapons, although he later regretted his involvement after seeing its use against the Japanese civilians. He tried to lobby for the regulation for nuclear power, but he fell out of favour with the paranoid Red-Scared US government due to his early Communist ties. Often called the "Father of the Atomic Bomb", I think would be fitting for him to represent various Nuclear tropes in general (much like The Gang of Seven represent Dinosaur Media). Plus he has enough pop culture, media mentions and personal history make decent profile from him.

@ lawliet: Barbie...and Oppenheimer. Oh you sly dog, you absolutely knew what you were doing

Wish I had something clever for my new suggestions

  • Blackmore, God of Deadly Droplets (Hall of Water and Moisture)-Blackmore is an assassin who's Stand has the ability to manipulate the rain. He can stabilize raindrops in the air, which turns them into stagnate and become blades to pierce his target. Add in being able to meld with the rain and you have a powerful assassin
  • The Analyst, God of Going Beyond A Third Installment: The Matrix has for the longest time, been a trilogy of movies. About a decade and a half, the fourth Matrix movie was released. This came with a notable about of Creator Backlash as the third movie had a Torch the Franchise and Run attitude, with Lana Wachowski deciding to bite the bullet and take the director's chair herself, chiefly to make a film that would destroy any chance of that ever happening. Why do I think he fits Trilogy Creep? In-universe he is the reason there is a fourth movie. As part of his manipulative scheme he revives Neo and Trinity. There's a meta acknowledgement where a blue-pilled Neo is a game developer whose "beloved parent company Warner Bros." is forcing him to make a sequel to his successful trilogy. The Analyst could be considered somewhat of a metaphor of execs pushing for a fourth movie after a trilogy wraps things up
  • Hody Jones, God Of Being Taught To Be Bigoted (Hall of Categorism, Chaotic Evil)-Hody Jones is a Fishman supremacist who imagines himself as the next Arlong, only to prove he's worse than him. When pressed on what humans did wrong to him, he admits nothing. Rather, he grew up in a run-down environment that encouraged Fantastic Racism towards humans. He's not a Tragic Bigot like Fisher Tiger or to a lesser extent Arlong, but a realistic racist that absorbed the prejudices around him

[up][up]Shorty would feel sorry for Bunnie Rabbot and Sally since they were turned into a cyborg and a robot against their will, just like Shorty was turned into a Badnik called a Cybernik against his will. He might be wary around Dulcy since the last time he met a dragon, the dragon attacked Shortfuse with his fire breath. Although the dragon was just defending himself rather than attacking as the Freedom Fighters thought, since they had accidentally woke him up from his hibernation about a thousand years too early. He would also be surprised that Dulcy is a lot smaller than the dragon he met who was just a teenager. Rotor Walrus would remind Shortfuse of his friends Porker Lewis and Tekno the Canary since he is a genius as well.

The Smoldering City
A settlement

  • Fictional Settings
  • Upvotes: 3 (neoamon, Excessive-Menace, Muundeis) — launching 28th Jan if I don't get any more votes.
  • Description: A city on top of a volcano, surrounded by an expanse of forests.
  • Symbol: The Scorched Queen's mask
  • Alignment: The forests are Chaotic Evil; the city is Lawful Neutral
  • Theme Music: Forest Lights
  • Portfolio: Roguelike Construction and Management Game, Bizarre Seasons, inhabited by humans, beavers, lizards, harpies, foxes, and Always Chaotic Evil fishmen, Black-and-Grey Morality, covered by an Intelligent Forest, giant mushrooms in the Marshlands, Fire/Water Juxtaposition
  • Domains: Rain, fire, forests, fear
  • Visitors: Hina Amano, Cacofonix, Folktails & Iron Teeth, Xiao, Courier Six
  • The Smoldering City is the only safe haven in a world cursed with perpetual rain. Build atop a volcano after the Great Civil War that nearly drove the harpies who inhabited it to extinction, the mysterious Scorched Queen uses her powers to ensure that the sun still shines. The city is surrounded on all sides by hostile, sentient forests that only the ferocious fishmen can thrive in, and she sends her viceroys to lead expeditions into them in order to gather resources. The forests grow more enraged as people populate them and cut down their trees; the only things they fear are fire and the queen's wrath. Every few decades, a cataclysm called the Blightstorm washes the world clean and rearranges the landscape, forcing everyone to return to to the city.
  • The rain is magically charged, and it comes in three varieties. During the drizzle, when the forests are at their safest, it's green. During clearance, when farmers gather their crops and there are occasional gaps in the clouds, it's yellow. During the storm, when the forests are at their most dangerous, it's blue. All three kinds of water can be used to power rainpunk engines in manufacturing buildings, but at a cost: it causes blightrot cysts to appear in settlements, flower-like growths that open during the storm and will kill villagers if they aren't burned in time. Despite the constant rain, it never floods.
  • There are six kinds of forests:
    • The Royal Woodlands are the most hospitable biome, relatively speaking. They're full of green trees, fertile soil, and useful plants, so they're recommended for beginner viceroys. They were once part of the Smoldering City until the forest reclaimed them.
    • It's difficult to farm in the harsh, cold Marshlands because of the hard and rocky soil. Instead, they're full of tree-like fungi and huge amounts of gatherable resources. If you're lucky, you might find giant wheat, leviathan corpses, or mushrooms in the deepest glades.
    • The trees of the Scarlet Orchards look like giant roses and are filled with copper. They're full of skeletons of giant creatures that once plagued the land, such as spiders, scorpions, and sea serpents, so viceroys are allowed to conduct archaeological expeditions to uncover them. Due to its abundance of fertile soil, herbs, berries, and roots, it's also known as the kingdoms' herb garden.
    • Unlike the other biomes, Coral Forests contain three types of trees: mineral-rich crimsonreach trees, shelled and fleshy musselsprout trees, and fibrous plateleaf trees. Contrary to popular belief, they don't grow in areas that were once flooded; instead, the aquatic aesthetic is due to the influence of coral. Settlers find them beautiful despite their dangers.
    • The Cursed Royal Woodlands are full of death. The trees are barren and infested with insect larvae, and it's haunted by ghosts from the Great Civil War. Some ghosts will merely disappear if they aren't appeased, but more hostile ones will curse settlements as well. In the other forests, the safest glades are smaller, but here, they're all the same size, making it impossible to assess their danger in advance.
    • The Sealed Forests are home to ancient beings called the Sealed Ones, who seem to have a connection to the Blightstorm. During the storm season, they unleash terrible plagues upon villagers. Most of its trees writhe and appear to have faces, and the biggest ones resemble flowers covered in thorns. Viceroys must undergo several trials in order to close the seals, and doing so increases the amount of time between Blightstorms.
  • The majority of the kingdom's population consists of five species:
    • Humans once had their own kingdoms until the Blightstorm came. They specialise in farming and brewing, and are typically the last to leave failing settlements. Their buildings are made of brick and planks, with white walls and blue roofs.
    • Most beavers are members of the Smoldering City's merchants guild; the kingdom mostly has a bartering economy, but they use amber as currency too. They're hard workers who specialise in lumber and engineering, but can also be demanding. Their buildings are made of warm-brown planks with rounded edges.
    • Lizards are resilient but distrustful carnivores. Were it not for the Scorched Queen's sudden appearance, their clans may have lost the Great Civil War. They're excellent at gathering meat from giant snails and leeches, and since they're cold-blooded, they prefer to work in warm buildings such as furnaces and the hearths at the centre of each settlement. Their buildings are made of bricks and cloth, with red, spiked roofs.
    • Harpies are all infected by a blightrot-like disease that makes it difficult for them to fly. They specialise in gathering herbs and using them in alchemical recipes, and love working with cloth. Despite their graceful appearance, they have a wild and aggressive side. Their buildings are made of cloth, with white walls, purple roofs, and gold accents.
    • Foxes specialise in working with rainwater, so they developed a symbiotic relationship with the blightrot. They have a deep bond with the forest, and are the fastest at dealing with the various situations that pop up in glades, from opening crates to feeding wild kaiju. Unfortunately, they're easily susceptible to starvation. Despite being mortal, no fox graves have ever been found. Their buildings have green roofs, silver walls, and are made of planks, cloth, and crystallised dew.
  • While the entire kingdom is open to visitors, it's so inhospitable that few want to visit it. Hina Amano and Cacofonix both have the ability to summon rain at will, which makes them unwelcome in most places, but their powers don't make much of a difference here. The Folktails and Iron Teeth, who come from a world plagued by droughts, were intrigued by a place with an endless supply of water. Both of their settlements made trade agreements with the merchants guild. The Folktails enjoy the kingdom's delicacies such as biscuits and pickles, while the Iron Teeth plan to build rain engines to power their factories.
  • Some gods use their skills to help the kingdom's citizens. Xiao is a mercenary who wields fire, so she's offered to help viceroys burn blightrot cysts in their settlements... for a fee. She's only manifested E.G.O. once while in the forests, but the Scorched Queen is interested in Xiao's ability to make her flames so potent that merely being near here causes burns. Courier Six has trekked through all kinds of hostile environments, so they occasionally help the merchant's guild make deliveries. The queen's envoy considered asking them to send orders to viceroys as well, but soon realised that they tend to meander.
  • The kingdom's citizens enjoy visiting other dominions. The beavers are welcome in Zootopia and often help with construction work, though they stay away from the Rainforest District. The lizards love basking in Sahara Square, as well as the Far, Far Range's Dry Reef and Glass Desert. The humans and harpies both love foraging for the Range's bizarre array of crops, such as cube-shaped strawberries and heart-shaped beats; they're a nice change of pace from roots and moss. The foxes were also welcomed to Zootopia, but they don't like the hustle and bustle of the city; they prefer to explore overgrown, abandoned, or mysterious places such as the Dwemer Ruins and Yggdrasil Labyrinths.

And here's a proposal:

Paleo Pines, Island of Rural Windmills

  • Paleo Pines is a sparsely-populated island where people live in harmony with nature, farm, and tame the wild dinosaurs. Each area has its own windmill that used to be used by everyone in the community, but they all fell into disrepair. The player can repair them all in a sidequest, and then use to them to convert certain crops into crafting resources. Veridian Valley's windmill is featured prominently in the game's key art.

  • Kenshi Takahashi. There are conflicting reports as to the origins of the blind swordsman who fights for Earthrealm. One such report details him as descended from a lineage of Eurasian Warrior Kings. Another has him working for Special Forces, seeking revenge on the Red Dragon for the murder of his lover, while reconnecting with his son, who Kenshi had left in the relative safety of Hanzo Hasashi and the Shirai Ryu. The most recent reports are of Kenshi not being from a warrior king bloodline, but a former member of the Yakuza, descended from a clan long thought to have been destroyed centuries past, now seeking to redeem his clan. But there are several things thar can be confirmed regarding Kenshi. He has an intense hatred for Shang Tsung (as he was the cause of his blindness in the first two timelines), in all three reports, he lost his sight (the first two due to the aforementioned sorcerer, the third to Mileena driven mad by her Tarkart affliction), Kenshi acquired Sento after losing his sight, his encounter with Ermac resulted him in learning telepathy, and he has strong ties to Earthrealm, primarily with Special Forces. For some folks, the ex-Yakuza angle is more believable.
    • While his background in the first two timelines is well-known, it's his background in Liu Kang's New Era that's drawing attention on Kenshi. The Takahashi were originally known as the Taira Clan, one of ancient Japan's most honored families. However, the Taira were nearly wiped out during the Siege of Aomori. To make things worse, the ancestral sword, Sento, was lost in the battle. Their numbers few, the surviving Taira changed their surname from Taira to Takahashi, and sought protection from the Bakuto, the predecessors to the Japanese Yakuza. "From first family to crime family," as Johnny Cage put it when Kenshi came for Sento, as it had been in Johnny's posession. Johnny refused to hand over Sento (as he paid $3 million for it), but relented after Kenshi saved his life, at the cost of a berserk Mileena gouging out his eyes. With Sento now in his posession, Kenshi plans to redeem his clan, to seperate them from their past ties to the Yakuza. But even in Liu Kang's New Era, it won't be easy.
  • Kazuma Kiryu, Goro Makima, and Kimiko Yamaguchi are quite possibly the only Yakuza deities that Kenshi is on good terms with. Neither Kazuma or Yankumi did not bear any ill will towards Kenshi for leaving the Yakuza, as he had to put his clan first. Goro did criticize Kenshi for his decision, but understood Kenshi's reason behind the decision. But there are those who are not entirely convinced that Kenshi changed his ways. The fact that he was part of the Yakuza is more than enough for Frank Castle to try and put a bullet in him, and Castle has killed more than his share of Japanese mobsters over the years. But Kenshi is protected, and is actively working in protecting Earthrealm. With patience honed from his time as a Marine sniper, Frank watches Kenshi, waiting for the day he relapses. When Kenshi does fall back into his old ways, Frank will be there to punish him. On the other hand, Amanda Waller sees Kenshi as a high value recruit for the Suicide Squad. Of course, given that it's Waller we're talking about, her method of recruiting involves cranial bombs and the threat of her detonating them being her modus operandi.
    • Interestingly enough, the main factor why Frank doesn't put a bullet in Kenshi's head is because of Kenshi's friendship with Professor X and Jean Grey. In the days following his debut, Kenshi sought instruction on how to better control his telepathy, and you can't go wrong with Professor X and Jean Grey as your teachers. Tatsu Yamashiro also has a 'kill-on-sight' policy in regards to any Yakuza she comes across. Given that her family had been butchered by her Yakuza brother-in-law, one cannot fault Katana for her violent response. But, as Katana had bear witnessed, Kenshi's attempts at redeeming the Taira and being a good father to Takeda are indeed genuine. Plus, killing someone with ties to Special Forces and under the protection of Earthrealm's gods (be it Raiden or Liu Kang) would look bad on Katana's part, hence the wielder of Soultaker adapting a 'wait-and-see' approach with Kenshi.
    • Despite getting the blessings of Michael Corleone, Yankumi, Kazuma Kiryu and Goro Majima in leaving the criminal life, Kenshi knows that there are those opposed with Kenshi leaving the Yakuza. Ryuji Yamazaki is a Yakuza hitman and dojo buster who went in a rage upon hearing the news (big surprise, as pretty much anything will set Yamazaki off). For Yamazaki, Kenshi leaving the Yakuza is the same as an Italian wiseguy becoming an informant to the FBI, and has has vowed to kill Kenshi on sight. Any of Kenshi's Allies from Liu Kang to Johnny Cage that try to stop him will be nothing more than collateral damage. The Slavers also have personal issues with Kenshi, even going as far as to threaten to give Suchin and Takeda a fate worse than death should they get their hands on Kenshi's loved ones. If there was anyone Kenshi would be more than happy to kill aside from Hotaru and the Joker, it's these three.
  • Is Kenshi a deadbeat dad for abandoning Takeda to the Shirai Ryu? It's actually kinda complicated. Yes, Kenshi admit that he left Takeda in Hanzo's hands, but given that the Red Dragon had just murdered his lover and that both he and his son are high on Daegon's hit list, his choice of leaving Takeda with the Shirai Ryu was the best decision Kenshi could have made under the circumstances. This has garnered some measure of sympathy from those parents who were forced to abandon their children for their own safety. Speaking of his son, Kenshi was righteously enraged once Jacqui told him that The Joker had all but confirmed that he had given Takeda the Jason Todd treatment (i.e., beaten with a crowbar). Kenshi is more than happy to kill the Clown Prince for that. Of course, Jason Todd told Kenshi to "get in line," as he wants nothing more to use Joker for target practice. Kenshi has vowed to give Joker the same courtesy as he had given to Takeda, only with Sento in lieu of a crowbar.
    • But if there is one person that Kenshi hates with the fury of a patient man, it's Shang Tsung. In both timelines, Shang had played to Kenshi's ego, convincing him that he could find a sword worthy of his skill. Shang wasn't lying about the sword. All it cost was Kenshi's eyesight and Shang consuming the souls of his warrior king ancestors. Shang would also claim that he would consume Kenshi's own soul, Kenshi having made his final stand against the denizens of Shang's Island fortress. Kenshi denies the claim. However, the deified Seidan fanatic, Hotaru, hates Kenshi with the same intense passion as Kenshi has towards Shang Tsung. It probably has something to do with Kenshi bisecting him from gullet to groin following Onaga's return, thus saving Kuai Liang's life. As Hotaru sees Kenshi as a threat to Order in general (never mind that Havik had nearly killed his son), Hotaru has no problems in killing Kenshi if given the opportunity.
  • During the Netherrealm Timeline, one of Kenshi's variants is simply named Posessed, where Kenshi summons demons from his ruined blade to attack his opponent. It's the last one that worries Sigfried Schtauffen. Given that he was corrupted into becoming Nightmare upon taking Soul Sdge for himself upon touching the cursed sword, his concerns are not without merit. Fortunately, Kenshi hasn't used the Posessed variant in a while, and only uses it as a last resort, putting Sigfried at ease... mostly. On the opposite end, the living avatar, Nightmare, seeks to possess Kenshi's body due to his use of the Posessed variant. As it turns out, Siegfried wasn't the only one that was concerned about Kenshi using demons to attack his opponents, as both Heishiro Mitsurugi and Haohmaru also approached Kenshi regarding his attacks of choice. Samanouske Akaechi actually thought that Kenshi was a Genma agent, until Kenshi talked Sam down. As the reason why Kenshi knows these three rōnin? It's because that he himself was a wanderer in the first two timelines, which is how Kenshi had met the other three men. Every once in a while Kenshi would reunite with Haohmaru, Mitsurugi and Sam, where they compare stories and opponents. The last time they were together was at the Pao Pao Cafe, during Kurogiri and the Villain Pub's attack on the establishment, as they wrecked the four deified swordsmen's 'sake-and-chill' session. Kenshi, Sam, Mitsurugi and Haohmaru - nicknamer Team Rōnin - teamed up and aided the assortment of heroes - and some villains - in fighting off the invaders,
  • Kenshi is on friendly terms with John 'Baba Yaga' Wick and Beatrix 'The Bride' Kiddo. One thing that the trio have in common is their former ties to organized crime, Kenshi being an ex-Yakuza, John and Beatrix being former assassins, and the three leaving their previous lives to forge new paths... with varying levels of success. Of course, given that her former teammate went on to lead the Tokyo underworld, Beatrix was on her guard. Kenshi put her at ease, stating that while he and his clan knew of O-Ren Ishii and of the Crazy 88, the Takahashi clan had no dealings with them. Due to Kenshi's Yakuza past, he has past dealings with the House of Crime and Transgressions, and his news of trying to go legit has mixed reactions. What was shocking was that Michael Corleone had wished Kenshi luck in going legit, as he himself knows full well of the difficulties of trying to shift his family from organized crime to more legitimate activities. Yet, Don Corleone (along with Kazuma and Yankumi) made Kenshi swear that he would not come after them. So long as their activities don't threaten Earthrealm's safety, Kenshi agreed. Kenshi is lucky that most of the criminals - even some of the irredeemable ones - in the House of Crime hate the Black and Red Dragons as much as he does.
  • Found himself on the radar of the deified Jedi and Imperial deities, as they mistaken his telepathy for the Force. Chirrut Îmwe of Rogue One was certain that The Force had radiated from Kenshi, but was mistaken. Despite this, Kenshi is on friendly terms with the blind warrior-monk. John Wick couldn't help but to notice that Chirrut had an uncanny resemblance to the retired (and blind) assassin, Caine. But Chirrut had given Kenshi some advice on how to proceed when dealing with the deified Sith. "Eventhough your powers is not that of the Force, Kenshi, the Force is indeed with you," the blind warrior monk intoned.

  • In its prime, it was the pride of the Concordance Extraction Corporation. Commissioned by the CEC in the year 2446, the Ishimura is the first of what would be known as the Planet Cracker-class ships. Named after Hideki Ishimura, the Japanese astrophysicist and creator of ShockPoint Drive (and unknown to almost everyone, survivor of the Chicxulub Necromorph Outbreak in 2214), the Ishimura was hailed as the 'savior of Earth and its Colonies.' Built in the wake of the Resource Wars - the conflict following the severe depletion of Earth's natural resources - the Ishimura was hailed as the savior of both Earth and its colonies. Planet Cracking is exactly what it means - that a planet is literally cracked open and mined for valuable resources, or as it is known among the rank-and-file, "popping the cork." The Ishimura not only could crack planets, but was also the first ship that pioneered the 'scan-and-catch' method, using its powerful gravity tethers to snag mineral-rich asteroids for smelting. Given that the name Ishimura translates to 'rock village,' it's fitting. However, after 63 years of service and 35 successful planet-cracks, the Ishimura was to be decommissioned following its final planet-crack at Aegis 7, as it was starting to show its age, despite the numerous upgrades it had over the years. And that was where the horror began.
  • In space, no one can hear you scream. That much is true. But this is not the Nostromo. If you were onboard the USG Ishimura during its final ill-fated planet crack, then no one could hear you scream bloody murder. High up in low-planet orbit, the Ishimura shockpoints in, silent and foreboding. Upon getting visual confirmation that the Ishimura was in the Pantheon, Issac Clarke's blood went cold. As a CEC Engineer, Issac is quite familiar with the Ishimura, as he worked there in the past. It was also the same location where his former girlfriend, Nicole Brennan, committed suicide, and the Marker imprinted its code into his brain, resulting in a deadly case of Marker Dementia, in which those with higher brain functions are imprinted with blueprints to build more Markers, at the cost of their sanity. As a live feed/scan of the Ishimura is sent back to the Pantheon, Issac couldn't help but to quote Edgar Allen Poe's The Raven: "Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there, wondering, fearing..."
    • The initial scan of the Ishimura confirmed that the ship is chock full of Necromorphs. But that confused Issac at first, as without the Marker's presence the Necromorph should be reduced to nothing more than a soupy, sludge-like material without the presence of a Marker. However, that is not the case, as a second scan of the Ishimura had confirmed that there are at least 12 Marker Fragments located in unreachable locations within the ship. It also confirmed the Marker-related phenomena that has affected random deities within the Pantheon. For one, Johnny Cage and his daughter had reported seeing Sonya Blade hold a conversation with her deceased twin brother. Another report had Superman's Regime counterpart on his knees, weeping, begging for forgiveness at a hallucination of his deceased wife. The third report had Griffith being driven to near-insanity by visions of the mangled remains of the original Band of the Hawk that he sacrificed to become Femto (to the amusenent of Guts and Casca, while Slan thought it to be rather arousing). Aerys II Targaryen was seen cowering on the Iron Throne, ranting about how he can see the victims he has subjected to death by Wildfire, Rickard Stark being among those present. Samus Aran had a bad case of PTSD after seeing a hallucination of her deceased parents. And finally, Mitsuko Souma had to be dragged away from trying to violate - and kill - Shinji Ikari, all the while screaming, "MAKE US WHOLE!" As a result of this, contingency plans have been made to combat the Marker Fragments' influence. Led by Dr. Gregory House and Retsu Unohana, Marker-resistant medicines have been created and administered to those affected.

[up][tup] for Kenshi, but "eventhough" in the last paragraph should be two words. As for the Ishimura, the Animorphs have risked their lives on all sorts of spaceships.
