Trope Pantheons Discussion

Go To

Welcome to the Trope Pantheons thread! Please read the rules:

    Rules
Rules. The following are not suggestions or tips, but things that have to be followed:
  • When writing a profile, take note of the following:
    • The very first thing any contributor should do before working on an idea or a profile is to propose and nominate the idea on the Trope Pantheons discussion thread. In the forums, you must discuss with other users on adding ideas and seek their approval with sound reasoning, a paragraph of reasoning to justify taking a trope should be sufficient. This is done to see if your proposal is the best representative and so, in case your profile is turned down, you do not waste time writing something that others might not find suitable. You can also get some assistance in the forum thread by either asking for help and those interested asking if they can help. Attempting to work on ideas without a nomination and at least one net thumbs-up will not be accepted regardless of how much you have written already. Submissions that are added without discussion are likely to be deleted and those who violate those rules by adding Pantheon content without discussion will get reported to the mods.
    • If you feel the need to remove a character for some reason (poor quality, outdated titles, etcetera) and replace him/her with another or outright rework, please see what the other tropers think about this in the discussion thread before doing anything hasty. For reworks in particular, nominate the idea as you would with new characters or profiles. Use good reasoning to see if your idea can easily replace the character present without drawing out your statement or giving too ambiguous claims most do not understand.
      • In the same vein, if you adopt a profile from another troper, it is recommended that you make an announcement that you have done so on the discussion thread. More often than not, a trope that was reserved for something was given away to someone else. Check the Related tab on the top of a page to see if a trope or character has been reserved by a user, either in the Pantheon or the Sandbox sections.
    • If, for whatever reason, you are writing about a God who just happens to be a person in real life, just try to be very careful about what you decide to say. Do not try to make the editing seem too meta (self-referential) and use the creativity to create hypothetical scenarios towards fictional characters. Some real-life individuals, including content creators (fictional content created by them is still fair-game, but do not bring up the creators themselves in such cases), may be considered disqualified for profiles due to controversies that would make them concern the Rule of Cautious Editing Judgment. To determine where a current creator would be disqualified:
      • Wait for at least a month after the latest significant update for a creator's controversy before any decision can be made. If a confirmation from the questioned creator (or associates) themselves occurs, then wait for a week.
      • Immediate disqualification for either a guilty sentence in a significant court case against the creator, or evidence of consistently repeated, deliberate, and/or intentionally provocative hate speech and advocacy of dehumanizing perspectives, with lesser examples warranting caution instead.
      • For creators with a clear persona of their character disclosed before any scandal, the persona can have a profile with no mentioning of their real-life information. Ambiguous existence of a persona would have to be discussed further hand for anything more decisive.
    • For obvious reasons, gods cannot be followers, high priests, or heralds. The 'gods' have ascended meaning there is no need for said character to be a follower of another if they have ascended.
    • No hype profiles, please. 'Hype Profiles' are profiles that have been made out of ongoing events and have not been around for a long time. This creates 'hype' due to popularity and certain elements either through certain scenes, memes, dramatic acting or considered overly awesome. They are not bad tropes but building a portfolio solely for that is a bad idea, as they do not say a thing about representing the trope best (unless it's those trope concepts that they are trying to embody for a long time)
      • You can see one if the profile is only showing off how awesome they are or suddenly pushing how 'significant' they are thanks to the just very recent events rather than respecting the longstanding good representations of the trope. And usually having... minimum portfolio or flavor texts and being a bit too generalized or self-contained to events from within their home series instead of interacting with other Pantheon members.
  • When posting in the forum, take note of the following:
    • When you suggest a God, please explain why they fit the trope. Not everyone is going to understand just "X should be the God of Y because they exemplify the trope" off the bat, especially if they're unfamiliar with the work.
    • You must use the Trope Pantheons discussion thread in the forums if you wish to add a new deity, story, something else of importance to the Trope Pantheon canon, or reworking an existing deity (be it simply improving their existing profile or changing their title).
      • For new and reworked deities, 3 [tup] means the profile will have a one-week waiting period.
      • For new and reworked deities, 4 [tup] is a 3 day waiting period.
      • 5 [tup] is an automatic ascension for new and reworked deities.
      • Speaking of reworks, for anyone that wants to improve such profiles, they have to review the current trope the character(s) has and see if it still holds up or if there is a better rep for their trope.
    • For adding new Treasures to The Great Treasury or new Dominions to the Dominions Expansion, the following rules apply:
      • For new Treasures or Dominions, 3 [tup] is a 3 day waiting period.
      • 4 [tup] is an automatic addition to the Great Treasury or Dominions.
    • Do not repost a profile in the forums more than twice a day if noticeable changes have not been made in between. If a profile is posted a third time in a row without noticeable alterations, it will be downvoted. This is so spamming of no-effort profiles is less frequent and to prevent tropers from getting aggravated seeing the same profile over and over. The minimum acceptable change has to be one flavor text.
    • The Pantheon is not a mouthpiece for you to voice your opinions on certain characters. You may like certain characters more than others, but do not make the mistake of making profiles for characters you like to look like Character Shilling.
    • Every troper new to the Pantheon is barred from approving or downvoting profiles until they have ascended at least two profiles, this means avoiding the usage of "[tup]" or "[tdown]".
    • Do not include fan reception in any profiles. It has nothing to do with the character themselves and will create unnecessary conflict.
    • Write a detailed explanation on why the character is the best candidate for the deity of that trope. If people disagree with you, do not force it on the people.
    • Keep in mind that if you still want to try to find a trope for a particular character, you are only given three chances to find a particular trope for them. If a suggestion goes past three possible tropes, then it will come off as shoehorning a character into the Pantheon just for the sake of that character to be there.
      • On a related note, even if a character does have a free trope being suggested, there is still a limit of three attempts for suggesting that character for that trope. If no one responds to that certain proposal after being posted three times, then it will get to the point where the idea will be seen as being shoehorned into the Pantheon. In addition, the idea needs to be considered acceptable and approved because they are good, not for the sake of pitying others. After all, no one is responding to their idea.
    • You can also adopt a profile or idea to work on from another contributor by messaging a request to them (preferably through private messages). Even if you get their permission, you still have to announce your adoption to the forum. Note that if the idea wasn't nominated in the first place you still have to properly nominate it.
  • When posting Pantheon related stuff to the wiki, take note of the following:
    • Do not put a link to these Pantheon pages into the main wiki page. The moment you want to note in a trope example that the character is a God of this trope, do not do it. If you see leftovers of this practice, correct the situation by deleting the offending text. This goes for any non-Pantheon page. The only exception to this rule is if a page in the Pantheon could be confused for a page in Main, like Good Colors, Evil Colors and Pantheon.Good And Evil Colors.
    • Do not bring things that would incite fights; hot topics and 'urgent' news are not pertinent to the Pantheon's mission. For example, the political scene and some really bad politicians. We are not here to fight each other, so don't suggest things that go in that direction, this is a fictional Pantheon after all.
    • To add a Pantheon page for a certain work, 4 or more characters coming from the same series/franchise should be ascended before adding the page. For Creator specific pages, 4 deities coming from the same creator and 2 individual work pages coming from the same creator is the minimum to warrant a page.
    • Do not create a trope page for a story until the story is fully completed.
    Instructions and Tips
Here are some tips one should keep in mind when editing:
  • When writing a profile for a character, here are a few things to note:
    • Please refer to Text Formatting Rules when writing a profile, since understanding how to make and edit site pages in general is a necessity for working on profiles or other Pantheon content. Additionally, if you are not experienced with English, refer to this forum page, as proper English spelling and grammar is expected.
    • All deities should be sorted by their divine ranking. Put Overdeities on the top of the page and Quasideities on the bottom. Also, be sure to add them in alphabetical order by their first/given name (can be reversed if it is Eastern ordered). For a group, if there is no official name for them all list down all their names by order of relevance or (if too long to list) title them as Insert Name Here Main Characters or some other identifiable title along the same lines.
    • The maximum number of tropes that a god can have is two, but do not try to abuse that fact. If you need to use a second trope to specify a certain thing about their position, that can be excused either because said character represents their trope choice very well alongside the first trope. It is still generally encouraged to only have one trope.
    • A trope can only belong to one profile at a time. The only time two profiles can share a trope is if there are explicit variations listed in the trope page proper (e.g. Muscle Angst is held by both Biscuit Krueger and Chihiro Fujisaki as the former represents "Too Much Muscle" and the latter represents "Not Enough Muscle")
    • If the character you are about to add to a House already exists in another, make sure to mention that this person has spots in another House as well. Up to 2 places can be made for a deity at most.
    • For a character's theme song, try to avoid calling it "Theme of God X" or "Theme of (Show where God X originates from)". If possible, try to find out if the song has an actual name through research. Most importantly, it has to be part of their series' official soundtracks from the media. Do not list songs that are made by fans or outside sources. If they were not specifically used as music for that specific character, then they do not count. Furthermore, it has to be a general theme specifically made for that characters' appearances, not some generic music that plays for many other instances not related to the character in question.
    • For images, when adding an image for your chosen character, it is highly recommended to use a stylized image that embodies the character or renders that also highlight a character's behavior (such as cool poses). Most images should be from the main adaptations of the character unless the images from the other media are of a higher quality than the adaptation. Unless it is needed, do not use fanart for images. If you are, please attribute it to the original artist. Due to the website's dark mode, removing white backgrounds from an image is paramount. This website is suggested to do the background removal. If an image you have takes up too many bytes, it is suggestible to use this site to reduce the byte size. If the byte is still too big, run the compressed image through other sites (or even the same one) to compress even further. Use wikis to look for better images, as even wikis for the series might not contain good official images.
    • Creativity is your friend. While it is not recommended to get too ditzy at your ideas, it is best that when writing a profile for a certain character, do you think of capable scenarios between X and Y. Tip: do not use shallow examples (X wields a sword and Y wields one too) and try to think of relationships that make sense (i.e those characters that are shout-outs for another).
  • Pantheon Content:
    • Some series or genres will eventually have greater representation in the Pantheon than others. This is unavoidable, but a little diversity helps to make you not look like a shill. Try to ensure that if you add a deity from a popular series, make sure that it is because they are a good representative for the trope in question, and not just because they are connected to another deity in their respective canon.
      • As far as deities from actual mythologies, there is generally an expectation to build the profiles off interactions from fictional portrays rather than basing it entirely from the actual myth. Therefore, a mythological deity should be more of a Composite Character whose main identity is from the actual myth.
    • Occasionally there will be Gods that carry a title without a trope. This is not forbidden, but it is well-advised not to abuse them. The only house where trope-less profiles are wholly allowed is the House of Food. Mainly due to most food items lacking tropes, and adding tropes about said foodstuffs is slightly unnecessary. However, the character being ascended for their choice of food, or food-related thing must be a decently good representative of said item. (i.e their Trademark Favorite Food, or something that they are closely associated with In-Universe, or both).
    • For Dominions and Treasures profiles, always consider what made those places/objects popular in the first place. Were they plot-important, identifiable imagery or have a unique aspect of it? Do not just bring regular objects under the basis of following a certain canon.
    • Do not write in self-promotion or blatant advertising. Minor references to something are fine but writing that clearly intends to advertise something will not be given toleration.
  • For Profile Standards:
    • Flavor text is used to describe certain things about a character, place, or object. To avoid short ones, it is recommended to write flavor text with 4-7 sentences that can fill around 2 lines each. Be warned that adding too many sentences does not equal good flavor text as it is not an essay of sorts (unless words are substantial and do add to the overall line).
    • Character Profiles of a certain person should have the following:
      • A portfolio that contains at least 7 (at the minimum) tropes describing their character.
      • Flavor text count for a deity profile should have by minimum, 10 (depending on if the character in question has enough relationships/characterization) to 15 with a maximum of 20-25 for an individual profile.
      • On the other hand, group profiles (profiles of a group that has 4 or more members) have their maximum flavor text count to 15 minimum, giving individual lines for the other members of the group (unless the members are not as characterized) up to 30 at max.
    • Dominion profiles of a certain place should have the following:
      • A portfolio that contains at least 5 (at the minimum) tropes describing the context of the place.
      • Flavor text count should range at least 10 to 15.
    • Treasure profiles (inanimate objects without a trope) should have the following:
      • A portfolio that contains at least 6 (at the minimum) tropes that describes the object itself.
      • Flavor text count should be at least 7 flavor text up to 12 to constitute a treasure profile.
    Divine Ranking System
  • Overdeity: Omnipotent-level Reality Warper deities capable of manipulating the entire universe (or at least the world) at will. Within their own universe they are believed to be omnipotent, or at least impossible-to-completely-destroy embodiments or concepts.
  • Greater Gods: High-level Reality Warper deities that are extremely powerful (capable of destroying or changing anywhere from a large city to a planet at will) and very strong non-reality warpers capable of doing the same thing.
  • Intermediate Gods: Deities at this level are capable of strong but specialized powers such as hydrokinesis, pyrokinesis, etc. without major drawbacks and low-level Reality Warper beings capable of affecting their immediate area at will.
  • Lesser Gods: Capable of highly specific or little power on their own, or suffer from Power at a Price. However, they may be able to ruthlessly exploit their power or combine it with just being badass enough to make up for it.
  • Demigods: Badass Normal citizens of the pantheon, making up for their lower status with strength, strategy, and/or planning.
  • Quasideities: Any otherwise normal human, human equivalent, or below without any special powers or training will fall here.
    Templates
Template for adding a new deity: God X, God/Goddess/Deity of (Insert Trope Here) (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)
  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Rank: This can range from Quasideity, Demigod, Lesser God, Intermediate God, Greater God, to Overdeity, based on the representation of power mentioned above.
  • Symbol: An image or icon used to represent the deity.
  • Theme Song: Official song (in other words, no fan music, regardless of quality) that usually is used in affiliation with the character. If the deity is a musician this will most likely be their Signature Song. If possible, give a link for reference, preferably on either a website like Soundcloud or YouTube.
  • Alignment: Good, evil, neutral, etc. Forget about The Great Character Alignment Debate here; the Pantheon is one of the few places where you can assign Dungeons & Dragons alignments to characters that don't have an alignment system. After all, the Pantheon is based on D&D and is made for fun.
  • For Pokémon deities only:
    • Gender: Defines the gender of the Pokémon; if genderless, it instead defines what gender they identify as.
    • Ability: Provides the Pokémon's ability. If they can Mega Evolve, the new ability is listed as well.
    • Moves: Defines the four moves used by a Pokémon. A Z-Move may also be listed.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the character.
  • Domains: Things that the character has influence over.
  • Herald: Non-ascended loyal character that is from the same series as the ascended character.
  • High Priest: Non-ascended like heralds, but not from the same series, and can serve as a worthy replacement in case the deity would be unavailable, incapacitated, dead, or otherwise incapable of carrying out their duties. They can be served as part-time workers in case the originals are busy with some jobs. Co-Godhood is accepted depending on the approval of the originals, usually if the co-deity is from the same series.
  • Followers: Non-ascended characters that are not part of the Pantheon, but would probably worship this character by the fact that they share the ascended character's trope.
  • Relationships between ascended characters go here with your chosen character, it goes something like this:
    • Allies: Members of the Pantheon that are allies, those that share the same values as them and would theoretically be friends with them.

    • Rivals: Members of the Pantheon that are rivals, people who may look at your character with suspicion or a challenge.
    • Enemies: Members of the Pantheon that are foes, those who would see your chosen character as a threat, either from their perspective or yours.
    • Additional Character Relationships: Members of the Pantheon that do not fit in various relationships (examples include Enemy Mine, Vitriolic Best Buds, Teeth-Clenched Teamwork, Headbutting Heroes, Friendly Enemy, Friendly Rival, Just Friends, etc.), allies, rivals, or enemies.
    • Partner: Defines a partnership with an ascended deity and Mon-type. (if any)
    • Feared by/Fears: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon notably fear or are feared by.
    • Respected by/Respects: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon respect or are respected by.
    • Opposed by/Opposes: Not necessarily the same as "Enemies", but this is used for any deity whom the members of the Pantheon directly oppose or are opposed by (basically the opposite of "Respects", "On Good Terms With", and/or "Commonality Connection") in terms of certain viewpoints, regardless of alignment.
    • Pitied by/Pities: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon feel pity for or are found pitiable by.
    • Conflicting Opinion: Sometimes, the Deities argue over specific themes and philosophies.
      • OPTIONAL NOTE FOR CHARACTER RELATIONSHIPS: Should the list for Character relationships (IE. Allies, Enemies, etc.) become too big, categorize a certain number of characters to a specific group putting them on a sublist (One example: Luigi is from the same world as his brother Mario, hence Luigi should be fall under the Super Mario Bros sublist.)
  • Add the Intro. The intro is made up of two trivia, the Ascension Text (or just the Ascension) and The Bio. Both are necessary, but which order you use for them may vary depending on the profile in question. It may be better for one profile to have The Bio first and the Ascension second or vice-versa, although for the most part, the order is irrelevant:
    • The Ascension Text: This is the story of how the character got into the Pantheon and/or was ascended. There are many ways for this to happen. They may be tricked into it or have simply wandered into the Pantheon, they may have had an already ascended character bring them in, they may already be in the Pantheon (via being another deity's Herald or sharing a trope) and got "promoted", or some combination of the above. Anything is possible in the Pantheon, so use your imagination, but try to incorporate their trope into the story, if possible.
    • The Bio: A brief synopsis of the character's backstory. No need for the character's entire life/production history, but just give enough that those who don't know the character can get an idea of how the character works.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Deities/Characters is 10-15 (15-20 for group profiles) at minimum to 20-25 (30 for group profiles) at maximum.
Template for Dominions profiles: Place X, Place of (Insert Trope Here) (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)
  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Theme Song (Optional): Not important as compared to Deity and Dominion profiles but a notable mention if there is an accompanying song in use with the object.
  • Alignment: Refers to the dominion's role in their story, be it those used by villains or used by the Player Character.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the dominion.
  • Domains: Things that the place has links to.
  • Relationships (Optional): Unless the location has a connection with a specific deity, relationships are optional and may not be required. However, if there are deities linked to the same series as to where the dominion is linked to, note them using the relationships, this includes deities that theoretically have interest with said dominion, good or evil otherwise.
  • Add the Intro. Here the introduction of the Dominion is added with some tidbits regarding the origins of its' creation and usage in the story. You can also add what made it popular/iconic/important here.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Dominions is 10 at minimum to 15 at maximum.
Template for Treasure profiles: The name of the item in here (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)
  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Appearance: A shortened description of the item's looks with some notable features also mentioned.
  • Class: Refer to the Treasure Classification System in the Great Treasury.
  • Alignment: Refers to the objects' role in their story, be it those used by villains or used by the Player Character.
  • Theme Song (Optional): Not important as compared to Deity and Dominion profiles but a notable mention if there is an accompanying song in use with the object.
  • Museum Check: A note that says whether the item is viewable by the public.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the item.
  • Domains: Things that the item has links to.
  • Relationships (Optional): Unless the item has a connection with a specific deity, relationships are optional and may not be required. However, if there are deities linked to the same series as to where the item is linked to (especially the original owner of the item), note them using the relationships, this includes deities that theoretically have interest with said object, good or evil otherwise.
  • Add the Intro. Here the introduction of the Treasure is added with some tidbits regarding the origins of its' creation and usage in the story. You can also add what made it popular/iconic/important here.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Treasures is 7 at minimum to 12 at maximum.

[up][up] BK and Mira were moved to Miscellaneous Items (Deities). I think the Database needs to be updated because I noticed characters are still listed in their previous house, with Rick Grimes being represented as Beard of Sorrow in the Database despite being listed as a Zombie Apocalypse Hero in the Trope Pantheons.

[up][up] Oh whoops. As for the database, I find it pretty hard to go through anyway. How does one even search for a trope without scrambling and searching through each House tab?

  • Feared by: Coulrophobes
  • Dropsy is that clown
    That the folks around town
    Are wrong about
And he cares for them all anyway
    With his signature smile
    And warm, damp loving embrace.
  • Meet Dropsy, the horrifying-looking clown and son of a circus-performing couple living on a small island. Tragedy struck one day when a fire erupted from a cigar during one of their performances which crippled Dropsy's father and took the life of his mother along with several other attendees in the audience. Dropsy would be blamed and demonized for the inferno but he is otherwise an innocent victim in the tragedy and just wants to give people a warm damp hug. Throughout his travels he, along with his dog Eughh and later his pals Mousy and Birdy, would help turn everyone's frown upside down and show he's not that bad of a guy. When his father collapses from overwork, Dropsy ends up breaking into the local S-Corporation's building to steal a special medicinal food to make him feel better. Unfortunately, it ended up making his father worse and the S-Corp CEO busted him for the theft. The CEO, after reading the situation before him, would then offer Dropsy to work for him in his newer circus in exchange for his father getting the treatment he needed.
    • After setting up the preparations, however, the S-Corp CEO reveals his true colors to kill Dropsy in the show and has mutated his animal companions for that very purpose. When that fails, he agitates them to make them go on a rampage. Dropsy is further demonized for the pandemonium but all the people he helped along the way stick up for him and direct him to go after the CEO. It turns out that both Dropsy and the CEO are alien brothers, and the CEO caused the fire in the first place to claim his birthright for himself and even killed another brother and his adoptive father but it turned out all for naught and was rejected by them. Even after everything that transpired, Dropsy tried to comfort him but is shot dead by the CEO in response. Before he expires, however, the clown is enveloped in a flash of light and wakes up in a spaceship and reunites with not only his father and pets but also his biological mother, whom he embraces with a warm damp hug.
  • On a clear starry night Dropsy made his way to the Pantheon when the his family's mothership landed in a forest clearing initially only to stop by to recalibrate some things. Dropsy only came outside to see view outside for himself but his dog Eughh ran off to mark his territory apparently not interested in the many evergreen trees around the place. Eughh went deeper into the woods which promptly Dropsy to go after him with Mousy and Birdy in tow. Meanwhile, there was a couple of deities who are out camping and were in the middle of telling scary stories to one another. Dropsy burst onto their camp just as the story hit the climax and made the two camping lovers flee in terror (and Eughh ended up peeing on the campfire). In the process of running away they lost their footing and took a deep fall off a hill. The two then woke up in a room they did not recognize but were soon greeted by a aged sickly man who managed to not only calm them down but introduce himself as the adoptive father of the "evil clown" they ran away from who ended up bringing them back to the ship and nurse them back to health with their equipment after which Dropsy made his way in with their belongings in his hands. Apparently, he doubled back to retrieve them but was side-tracked by an large mutant rat stealing them all. Having thoroughly misunderstood Dropsy they ended up accepting his hugs and said their goodbyes as they returned home. The next day, the ship was visited by envoys from the Court of Gods who invited him to the Pantheon after having received a good word for him by the couple. Dropsy made his acceptance to their proposal clear by bounding around and hugging them.
  • If one still remains suspicious of Dropsy then let this be known to all: There isn't a single mean bone in Dropsy's body. He is kind to everyone, even to the CEO who not hurt his animal friends but also killed his other family members, right down to mounting his brother and adoptive uncle's heads on a wall. He shares this trait with Pinkie Pie and Wander, who were among the first deities to welcome Dropsy into the Pantheon post-canonization and did not waste time to give the two his signature hugs. Ursula Callistis was also driven by though she did lose her way for a while due to an accident that crippled several people's magical capabilities though she does truly mean well at the end of the day. By some coincidence, Dropsy met her while lugging around a box of mangos with a golden sheen, a flashlight, an air humidifier, and some rope and decided to stop by and say hi. Certainly, he was odd, odd company but she has heard about Dropsy's innate nature of making people smile and pushed out despite just about everyone hating his guts originally. For that, he has her respect and accepted one of the mangos. And a hug too.
  • As his title would suggest Dropsy is a hugger through and through, perhaps to a fault. But as stated before he has good intentions and his hugs are just lovely. He would one day meet Bear Hugger, a Canadian boxer who is known to dole out his signature Bear Hugs (despite being a boxer, but what else is new for the W.V.B.A.), and he was gearing up for his next boxing match but was clearly stressed about his missing boxing partner. Dropsy and his friends would find out that said boxing partner was his squirrel and they found him being troubled by an ugly-looking rat (again). They rescued him and escorted him to Bear Hugger who quickly regained his spirits and not only thanked the clown for his efforts but gave him a nice hug for his troubles. Since then, Dropsy has stopped by for Bear Hugger's matches and he also had made it a habit to hug the husky maple syrup drinker's opponents as well, win or lose.
    • Dropsy also came across Bewear, a Pokemon whom Bear Hugger became the partner to during his time in the Pantheon and trains with her frequently. Notorious for giving out crushing hugs due to not knowing her own Super-Strength, Dropsy nonetheless was determined to hug her and made careful preparations by preparing some protective armor. The "protective" armor is just worn-out football gear with extra padding duck taped on but it did its job and allowed Bewear to hug without risk of hurting Dropsy and for him to reciprocate it. Dropsy's oddly squishy body might of helped in that regard.
  • For all of Dropsy' efforts, there's just no fixing the poor reputation clowns have or people's rather common fear of them. From Gotham's Joker to the extraterrestrial Klowns, and a horrific ringmaster that is Oswald, the Pantheon just seems to have a whole load of cantankerous clowns ruining it for everyone else. And Dropsy is with them when it comes to this licentious lineup. Some have pointed out Dropsy' resemblance to yet another infamous clown and thus refuse to even entertain the thought of interacting with Dropsy which has seriously bummed him out. Still, Dropsy doesn't let that drag him down for long and continues to go out into the world and make people smile, one hug at a time.
  • Regardless of the unfortunate reputation clowns seem to have, for as many ironic clowns out in the world, there are just as easily many unironic ones as well who do truly wish to put smiles on people's faces. Ronald McDonald and Balan are fond of Dropsy's commitment to bringing joy and smiles to everyone he meets and the feeling could not be any more mutual. To Dropsy, he is amazed by the large scale in which they bring joy to people and could not help but hug the two for their hard work.
  • Dropsy looks normal amongst his species but to human eyes he comes off as rather hideous, part of which contributed to his fearsome reputation. Seiichirou Kitano and John Merrik had similar troubles with their own appearances eclipsing the people beneath them, though the former is totally oblivious to such a thing. For Kitano, Dropsy himself admittedly was a bit put off by him but was nonetheless determined to make him happy and hug him. If you were to ask Kitano himself he was happy to be hugged by and be friends with an actual clown. John Merrik, while believing Dropsy to a bit overbearing when it comes to hugs, is endeared to him. It helps that the Elephant Man himself can relate to ostracization thanks to his own deformities, even if in the end Dropsy isn’t actually deformed.
  • Through word of mouth from other gods, and a good word by John, the Freaks made sure to welcome Dropsy into the Pantheon. As they came to see the clown as one of their own, they made an offer to protect a kind soul like Dropsy. Dropsy does not quite understand the full implications of such a promise, but was happy to have made and hug so many new friends in such a short timeframe. The Freaks are also very fond of Dropsy’s animal friends. (Vrkekker)
  • One day, Dropsy receive an important call from his mother regarding some important business. Said business involved an important diplomatic meeting with their race and the Blorg Commonality to forge and strengthen relations. Being the prince meant he had to attend and come the important it could not have gone any more smoothly if Dropsy tried. The new aliens were notorious for their repugnancy but Dropsy didn’t mind, though, and welcomed the fungoid aliens with open arms. Each and every one of them. The meeting ended up being way longer because of that but no one really cared, the Blorg especially. He had difficulty adding them as friends on social media, however, both because he never worked with one before and he lacks actual fingers on his hands. With some assistance, he made one but isn’t as active. He’s too busy making people happy, after all.
  • It's general knowledge that when it comes to Dropsy himself people fall into two categories of either being dead terrified of him and his appearance or having warmed up to him thanks to his inherently altruistic nature. And yet, there exists a lesser known third section of people who have come to view Dropsy as a sort of messianic figure. From the special circumstances surrounding his birth, his humble upbringing and overall compassion that's outright healing to the humiliation and betrayal he suffered and even his murder and subsequent resurrection it isn't that far-fetched to think so. While it would be a stretch to say these people worship Dropsy, they do look at him with a degree of awe wherever he goes. While general Dropsy doesn't know what a Jesus is but doesn't linger on the thought for too long and continues to go out and make people smile.
  • Dropsy had made many, many friends over the course of his time in the Pantheon. If you were to ask the person he connected the most to you would be most surprised for him to point to a nameless girl accompanied by a butterfly. Its a truly bizarre friendship, no doubt about that, especially when comparing to the many people the clown connected to. And yet, the two seem to have the greatest time when around one another. The simple answer to this question lies in the fact that on top of their similarities, and even in the Pantheon where all languages are understandable, he truly is in touch with her language.

  • A mysterious young woman who woke in the middle of the forest who is happened upon by a pair of siblings living within a Village that's by the sanctity of the light. When the lights begin to go out, the Girl is asked to help investigate the Tower to help fix their problem. In exploring its confines she frees Butterfly locked within a glass prison thinking it will help serve the Village. After narrowly escaping the Queen of the Night, she comes back to find the Village has been distorted and fallen into darkness. Recognizing the Butterfly's importance, she works to go back to the tower and put it back, restoring parts of the town and its people along the way. After being mortally wounded and being briefly separated from the Butterfly, the Girl still follows through with her plan to put it back despite it keeping her alive by that point and restores light to the entire world itself at the cost of her own life.
    • Due to the nature of her story the proper details of the world the Girl lived in are vague. The generally accepted version is as follows: The Village was beset by monsters in the dark and the Queen of the Night grew herbs that would help them in exchange for payment. They were unable to pay her and the Queen left the town to their fate, including the Brother and Sister. The Girl, who is heavily implied to be her daughter or at some important family member, stole their Butterfly and used it to illuminate the Village and banish the monsters. She does so at the cost of her life and the Village came to revere her as a deity while the Queen and her forces branded her as a traitor. Some time later the Girl is revived and goes through the Tower as mentioned before. She encounters the Queen a second time and gets cornered and has her underlings rip out the Butterfly by force. The Girl confronts the Queen once more and after beating her Brother comes back and murders the Queen for turning away from the Village and flees. The Girl follows him back out the Tower and into the now heavily distorted Village and after tracking him down he reveals his intentions of destroying the Butterfly to not only spite the Queen but also to liberate everyone in the Village. After beating him, the Brother and Sister begin to fade away and the Girl ultimately chooses to relinquish the Butterfly and illuminate the world. The Queen stands beside the Girl’s coffin while the siblings bring some flowers. This is also discounting the fact that the world might also be an afterlife of sorts, presumably a kind of purgatory.
  • The young lady once again found herself waking up on a forestbed after being stirred by the soft breeze and warm sunlight on her cheek. Upon getting her barrings she was beyond wonderstruck then to see the world in a kaleidoscope of colors, colors she had never seen in her world nor could she ever of experienced following her sacrifice. Awe turned turned to shock and subsequent panic when she was once again beset by a butterfly that bore an uncanny resemblence to the very same butterfly she let go of. After walking around the Girl would be informed of her place in the Pantheon and after confirming that her world is indeed safe after her sacrifice she accepted her position. Thus, she would be ascended over Pictorial Speech Bubbles due to how her story was told in her world.
  • Strictly speaking, the Girl has no name that can for sure be called her real one and if there was she isn’t telling anyone. More often than not she’s often referred to as simply “The Girl”, or variations thereof with some including a mention of the Butterfly. That being said, she does not being called Nevaeh, at least by those closest to her.
  • As she knows it, the darkness is physically harmful in that it slowly drains away vitality and monsters under its veil and rendered invincible. Conversely, the light slowly restores her health and makes monsters susceptible to damage. In the Pantheon its generally not as severe and can traverse it without as much trouble though in certain places, like the Halls of Light and Brightness and Darkness and Shadow for instance, its effects on her health still take hold and is perhaps more potent so she’s careful in this regard. And that’s not going over the many gods who are apart of and/or champion these two diametrically opposed forces.
  • The Girl’s journey through the Tower was an arduous one, and she could not have gotten far without the help of the Butterfly. With the Butterfly in her possession she can use it to cast light nearly wherever she wants to not only reveal things and make things disappear but light up switches and project shadows of other objects. Finally, she can also use utilize butterfly wings to safely glide down long falls.
  • Being someone who chose to restore light to her world she earned the attention of Danielle Baptiste and Niko, a host of the Angelus and a person tasked with restoring the light. The Girl was fascinated by Danielle’s role in her world while she and Niko bonded by how similar their adventures are. While by no means helpless, the two have promised to have her back in case she ever needs it. The Girl also by chance happened to cross paths with Sora, a Keyblade Wielder. The conversation between them was short but worthwhile starting off mundane but drifted to their respective journeys when Sora saw the Butterfly. Eventually the two parted ways on good terms and the young woman has not seen him again since but would not mind another meeting. Not all beings of light are good, however, as the Light of Destruction and Meridia have indiciated. One is a cosmic malevolent force that inspires similar levels of depravity, another a callous being that masquerades as a wholly benevolent. Meridia herself has gone on to denounce the Girl as a being of dark who selfishly does good for praise and acknowledge, something she and her newfound friends have gone on to refute. Seeing that there’s no convincing stubborn mortals who refuse the light, Meridia left that as it is.
  • As someone who has fought her way through the shadows of the Tower this young girl is no friend to the many malevolent beings of dark. The Heartless was of course a given what with having met Sora and some other Keyblade Wielders before and she had fended off some Heartless as well (and aslo partook in some minigames for others such as collecting flan, strangely enough) but there was also Chernabog, the Dark Star, the Dark Matter Horde, and the Shadow Queen. However, none of them could compare to the horror called the Presence who terrifies the Girl as she does not want to be swallowed up by the madness it brings. Of course, not all beings of dark are themselves evil, the Girl herself is proof of that even, and its for that reason she more amicable to them. Born is a creature of the void responsible for dooming many worlds into being consumed by it, but it came from him wanting to escape and be his own being and soon righted his wrongs. The Girl understood that feeling all too well herself. There was also Koichi Kimura and Judai Yuki, two people but are otherwise upstanding people as well.
  • Even in the Pantheon, she can’t help but help people. For her, though, it’s less so about dungeoneering and fighting monsters and whatnot but the more mundane and little things, closer to the many times she helped out the villagers after her revival. It’s not all work for her, however, as on her off times she likes to take in all the scenery around her. The forests are one thing, being among the first sights she say in both her awakenings in back home and here, but other views too. She truly cannot get sick of being in a world of so much color.
  • One day, while on a forest walk the young woman overheard music coming from a flute. After following the song, she came a girl much younger than herself playing a flute to. The Girl proceeded to compliment her for her song and the conversation continued from there as the two hit it off. The Girl then found out that the flute girl’s name was Aurora, Princess of Lemuria though she insists to not be called that. Upon unraveling their respective tales both were surprised by the commonality surrounding a “Queen of the Night” and wondered if they were related though this was quickly brushed off as an uncanny coincidence. Aurora however explains that the Queen of the Night she knows, her Wicked Stepmother Queen Umbra, is actually in the Pantheon herself who still plots to have Lemuria for herself and the Girl promises to lend Aurora her aid against the evil queen if needed.
  • If it wasn’t plainly evident enough she has strong ties to butterflies and when it comes to them two tend to stand out. There’s Tippi, a Pixl who looks like a butterfly and accompanied Mario’s journey to stop Count Bleck, her lost love, from destroying all of reality through the Void. And then there’s Morpho Knight, a mysterious butterfly that absorbs the souls and powerful of fallen warriors into its own knightly morph and is unfathomably powerful. To the surprise of no-one, the Girl likes the company of Tippi more than Morpho Knight. She was at first unsure of meeting with Tippi's one true love, Count Bleck, through her experience with the Brother and the extremes he went through for the sake of his Sister thought it was also this same reasoning she could never fault him for it either. Helping things is that the Count remains courteous, though being with his living love again helps.
  • Among the many traps and hazards the Girl came across in her joruney through the Tower were buzzsaws. Lots and lots of buzzsaws. Like every trap she would have to manipulate the world in such a way in order to navigate through them though occassionally she has been able to utilize them as weapons against her foes through casting shadows with the Butterfly. Meat Boy and the Knight have gone through. The Girl found the former alright but has not met the Knight and only has a vague surface level understanding of it and its relationship with the Pale King though she finds she isn't fond of the monarch from the little information she has gleamed and the extensive installation of saws has not helped.
  • Was once stopped by a purple haired pony with a white mane that was clearly agitated. The pony’s name was Rarity and was very distraught at the current state of the Girl’s dress and was very insistent. The Girl looked and begrudgingly agreed it has indeed seen much better days, and found herself dragged into her boutique. Rarity was curious as to how she managed to let it get to such a point, especially after hearing her murmur such damages weren’t that bad up until now. And so, while waiting for the pony to finish she recounted a story about about a pink mechanical magical girl accidentally slicing it up while fending off a titanic flightless wyvern of the snow Both the story and Rarity finished and the Girl thanked her for the trouble and went home while Rarity asked to try to not let it get that bad ever again and the butterfly girl complied. She ended up being a semi-frequent visitor thanks to this.
  • Perhaps you would surprised that the Girl became good friends with a strange clown named Dropsy. Sure, many people can be considered his friends after getting past his appearances and receiving a warm, damp hug from him but the Girl hangs out with him often either playing with his animal companions or casting many shadows with the butterfly. One reason for how they got along well is, aside from some similarities, Dropsy is very much in tune with her language.

@Bowser: Rumors are going about that Bowser Jr. is Peach and Bowser's kid. Also, due to sharing the same avatar with Eddie Riggs, Bowser is prone to screaming "DECAPITATION!!" when lopping off heads.

SomecallmeJohnny: She had to think about that. Holy shit, she fucked Bowser, didn't she? Oh man, you ask for a different plot in a Mario game - and you get implications of a one-night stand between Princess Peach and Bowser! I will never ever again complain about the simplistic plot of a Mario game...

@Mattman — Solomon Grundy could be friends with Killer Croc as both of them have had experiences living in sewers as well as being victims of unfortunate and out-of-control circumstances that made them the way they are.

On that note, anyone who dwells in sewers could potentially have some varying relationship with Grundy. Finally, while he's a villain, there is a tragic undertone to his character, which could lead some to sympathize with him, though given his aggressive nature, they would keep their distance unless they know how to deal with Grundy.

@Crownless — [tup] for both profiles.

"Crowbars Up."

Also, I feel that we could do with a Hall of Injuries.

Suggestion time...

  • Kakashi HatakeBadass Transplant
    • Shoddy profile to justify a rework and Multilayer Façade is only really relevant for a filler storyline, hence the removal. Kakashi is a shinobi from Konoha and one of the most famed and dreaded of his time. A good deal of his reputation, in addition to his excellent skills as a combatant, spy, and being a decent mentor, comes from the fact that he possesses the fabled Sharingan, a dojutsu unique to the Uchiha clan, which Kakashi is not a part of, which contributed to his moniker of "The Copy Ninja" It turns out that Kakashi was gifted the Sharingan years ago by his friend and comrade, Obito, on death's door and it was transplanted onto his left eye socket after his original got cut down during combat. The eye/transplant is a memento of his (not) fallen friend and even after it's been stolen and later lost forever, Kakahsi still manages to uphold his reputation as a badass.
  • Corrine and Gwynn TanPets as a Present
    • Corrine and Gwynn are sisters who take a liking to a rescue dog-in-training named Flurry. Their main drama comes in the fact that Corrine asks her stepfather for a gift if she could help train Flurry until she becomes a certified dog rescuer. While this causes tension between the sisters and the trainers who see low expectations for Flurry passing the certification, a defining moment arrives with Flurry finding and saving Gwynn during a blizzard. As a reward, not only does Flurry become certified, but the stepdad holds up his promise for a big gift in Flurry being adopted by the sisters, much to their excitement.
  • Arthur MorganConvenient Terminal Illness
    • The main drama of RDRII comes from Arthur's time and career as an outlaw becoming increasingly bleak and hopeless, especially as his gang, led by Dutch, starts to descend into fracture and eventual dissolution. several matters make this even worse, one of them being that early in the game, Arthur contracts tuberculosis after a debt collecting gone horribly wrong. Although he continues with his career as an outlaw, Arthur becomes increasingly weary, malnourished, and frail, which culminates in him being a dead man walking by the game's climax. By the time his tuberculosis diagnosis is officially checked, he realizes his time is short and spends the remaining side missions simply helping others after a personal moral crisis and in the very end, choosing to give up his life to give his remaining friends a chance to escape and lead a crime-free life. Arthur can be killed by Micah depending on how the player determines his honor, but even then, it's made clear that he doesn't have much left to live for due to his illness. Given the theme and tone of the game's narrative, Arthur's tale and eventual death is still a very tragic one.

I would like to propose The Dark Urge for Munchkin if it's available, because whenever they indulge in the urge to kill they resemble a D&D character played by the Murderhobo variety of this. And they're from a D&D videogame so I think that they were probably designed with this in mind.

Okay so as I am currently embroiled in my scrubbing of Lumity's profile which should be easily done by Noon today, I won't be able to get started with these immediately but let's get this started!

Reworks:

  • Kirby, God of Black Hole Bellies and Aggressive Alternate Cover Art Their ability to inhale and instantly absorb their enemies is well documented. At least two games feature Kirby's stomach being an entire dimension, namely Kirby: Squeak Squad in it's copy and item system, and Kirby: Triple Deluxe in the form of Hypernova, which takes the "Black Hole" part of Black Hole Belly and plays it literally. As for the second trope... well it was specifically named after them for a reason, given how ubiquitous it is for American box art for Kirby games to make them look more aggro.
  • Monstro, God of Devouring Heroes Whole Monstro the Whale gained infamy for gobbling up the good Geppetto, and later his son Pinocchio, with the father-son duo only surviving specifically because they were devoured whole and alive which enabled them to start a fire to make Monstro sneeze. Later in Kingdom Hearts, Monstro gulps down Sora's Gummi Ship along with its crew leading them to partake in a level inside his digestive tract.
  • Xion, Goddess of Meaningful Names Xion was named as such by the creators of Kingdom Hearts because of the sheer number of interpretations of its meaning that relate to her character/story. Xion is pronounced the same as "Shion" a name for a flower that symbolizes remembrance when Xion is a construct made of Sora's memories, Shion is a gender neutral term which fits Xion's status as a copy of Sora even when she identifies as a girl, and so on. Not trying to cut this off, its just if I listed everything, this would take too long.

Also... is anyone else having an issue with their DM's? I'm trying to send messages to you @Excessive Menace, but I can't see any indication that the DM's were sent despite me hitting send, as it doesn't appear in my inbox as having been sent, as if I never sent it to begin with.

[up] [tup] for all three (though for Meaningful Name, you shouldn't be shy about detailing the multiple meanings of her name as it will give you a stronger case as to why she fits).

About PMs, I haven't received any messages from you recently. I haven't tried sending anyone a PM yet.

I think we should give the Munchkin trope to The Dark Urge. The man is quite literally the son of the patron god of murderhobos.
