Trope Pantheons Discussion

Go To

Welcome to the Trope Pantheons thread! Please read the rules:

    Rules
Rules. The following are not suggestions or tips, but things that have to be followed:
  • When writing a profile, take note of the following:
    • The very first thing any contributor should do before working on an idea or a profile is to propose and nominate the idea on the Trope Pantheons discussion thread. In the forums, you must discuss with other users on adding ideas and seek their approval with sound reasoning, a paragraph of reasoning to justify taking a trope should be sufficient. This is done to see if your proposal is the best representative and so, in case your profile is turned down, you do not waste time writing something that others might not find suitable. You can also get some assistance in the forum thread by either asking for help and those interested asking if they can help. Attempting to work on ideas without a nomination and at least one net thumbs-up will not be accepted regardless of how much you have written already. Submissions that are added without discussion are likely to be deleted and those who violate those rules by adding Pantheon content without discussion will get reported to the mods.
    • If you feel the need to remove a character for some reason (poor quality, outdated titles, etcetera) and replace him/her with another or outright rework, please see what the other tropers think about this in the discussion thread before doing anything hasty. For reworks in particular, nominate the idea as you would with new characters or profiles. Use good reasoning to see if your idea can easily replace the character present without drawing out your statement or giving too ambiguous claims most do not understand.
      • In the same vein, if you adopt a profile from another troper, it is recommended that you make an announcement that you have done so on the discussion thread. More often than not, a trope that was reserved for something was given away to someone else. Check the Related tab on the top of a page to see if a trope or character has been reserved by a user, either in the Pantheon or the Sandbox sections.
    • If, for whatever reason, you are writing about a God who just happens to be a person in real life, just try to be very careful about what you decide to say. Do not try to make the editing seem too meta (self-referential) and use the creativity to create hypothetical scenarios towards fictional characters. Some real-life individuals, including content creators (fictional content created by them is still fair-game, but do not bring up the creators themselves in such cases), may be considered disqualified for profiles due to controversies that would make them concern the Rule of Cautious Editing Judgment. To determine where a current creator would be disqualified:
      • Wait for at least a month after the latest significant update for a creator's controversy before any decision can be made. If a confirmation from the questioned creator (or associates) themselves occurs, then wait for a week.
      • Immediate disqualification for either a guilty sentence in a significant court case against the creator, or evidence of consistently repeated, deliberate, and/or intentionally provocative hate speech and advocacy of dehumanizing perspectives, with lesser examples warranting caution instead.
      • For creators with a clear persona of their character disclosed before any scandal, the persona can have a profile with no mentioning of their real-life information. Ambiguous existence of a persona would have to be discussed further hand for anything more decisive.
    • For obvious reasons, gods cannot be followers, high priests, or heralds. The 'gods' have ascended meaning there is no need for said character to be a follower of another if they have ascended.
    • No hype profiles, please. 'Hype Profiles' are profiles that have been made out of ongoing events and have not been around for a long time. This creates 'hype' due to popularity and certain elements either through certain scenes, memes, dramatic acting or considered overly awesome. They are not bad tropes but building a portfolio solely for that is a bad idea, as they do not say a thing about representing the trope best (unless it's those trope concepts that they are trying to embody for a long time)
      • You can see one if the profile is only showing off how awesome they are or suddenly pushing how 'significant' they are thanks to the just very recent events rather than respecting the longstanding good representations of the trope. And usually having... minimum portfolio or flavor texts and being a bit too generalized or self-contained to events from within their home series instead of interacting with other Pantheon members.
  • When posting in the forum, take note of the following:
    • When you suggest a God, please explain why they fit the trope. Not everyone is going to understand just "X should be the God of Y because they exemplify the trope" off the bat, especially if they're unfamiliar with the work.
    • You must use the Trope Pantheons discussion thread in the forums if you wish to add a new deity, story, something else of importance to the Trope Pantheon canon, or reworking an existing deity (be it simply improving their existing profile or changing their title).
      • For new and reworked deities, 3 [tup] means the profile will have a one-week waiting period.
      • For new and reworked deities, 4 [tup] is a 3 day waiting period.
      • 5 [tup] is an automatic ascension for new and reworked deities.
      • Speaking of reworks, for anyone that wants to improve such profiles, they have to review the current trope the character(s) has and see if it still holds up or if there is a better rep for their trope.
    • For adding new Treasures to The Great Treasury or new Dominions to the Dominions Expansion, the following rules apply:
      • For new Treasures or Dominions, 3 [tup] is a 3 day waiting period.
      • 4 [tup] is an automatic addition to the Great Treasury or Dominions.
    • Do not repost a profile in the forums more than twice a day if noticeable changes have not been made in between. If a profile is posted a third time in a row without noticeable alterations, it will be downvoted. This is so spamming of no-effort profiles is less frequent and to prevent tropers from getting aggravated seeing the same profile over and over. The minimum acceptable change has to be one flavor text.
    • The Pantheon is not a mouthpiece for you to voice your opinions on certain characters. You may like certain characters more than others, but do not make the mistake of making profiles for characters you like to look like Character Shilling.
    • Every troper new to the Pantheon is barred from approving or downvoting profiles until they have ascended at least two profiles, this means avoiding the usage of "[tup]" or "[tdown]".
    • Do not include fan reception in any profiles. It has nothing to do with the character themselves and will create unnecessary conflict.
    • Write a detailed explanation on why the character is the best candidate for the deity of that trope. If people disagree with you, do not force it on the people.
    • Keep in mind that if you still want to try to find a trope for a particular character, you are only given three chances to find a particular trope for them. If a suggestion goes past three possible tropes, then it will come off as shoehorning a character into the Pantheon just for the sake of that character to be there.
      • On a related note, even if a character does have a free trope being suggested, there is still a limit of three attempts for suggesting that character for that trope. If no one responds to that certain proposal after being posted three times, then it will get to the point where the idea will be seen as being shoehorned into the Pantheon. In addition, the idea needs to be considered acceptable and approved because they are good, not for the sake of pitying others. After all, no one is responding to their idea.
    • You can also adopt a profile or idea to work on from another contributor by messaging a request to them (preferably through private messages). Even if you get their permission, you still have to announce your adoption to the forum. Note that if the idea wasn't nominated in the first place you still have to properly nominate it.
  • When posting Pantheon related stuff to the wiki, take note of the following:
    • Do not put a link to these Pantheon pages into the main wiki page. The moment you want to note in a trope example that the character is a God of this trope, do not do it. If you see leftovers of this practice, correct the situation by deleting the offending text. This goes for any non-Pantheon page. The only exception to this rule is if a page in the Pantheon could be confused for a page in Main, like Good Colors, Evil Colors and Pantheon.Good And Evil Colors.
    • Do not bring things that would incite fights; hot topics and 'urgent' news are not pertinent to the Pantheon's mission. For example, the political scene and some really bad politicians. We are not here to fight each other, so don't suggest things that go in that direction, this is a fictional Pantheon after all.
    • To add a Pantheon page for a certain work, 4 or more characters coming from the same series/franchise should be ascended before adding the page. For Creator specific pages, 4 deities coming from the same creator and 2 individual work pages coming from the same creator is the minimum to warrant a page.
    • Do not create a trope page for a story until the story is fully completed.
    Instructions and Tips
Here are some tips one should keep in mind when editing:
  • When writing a profile for a character, here are a few things to note:
    • Please refer to Text Formatting Rules when writing a profile, since understanding how to make and edit site pages in general is a necessity for working on profiles or other Pantheon content. Additionally, if you are not experienced with English, refer to this forum page, as proper English spelling and grammar is expected.
    • All deities should be sorted by their divine ranking. Put Overdeities on the top of the page and Quasideities on the bottom. Also, be sure to add them in alphabetical order by their first/given name (can be reversed if it is Eastern ordered). For a group, if there is no official name for them all list down all their names by order of relevance or (if too long to list) title them as Insert Name Here Main Characters or some other identifiable title along the same lines.
    • The maximum number of tropes that a god can have is two, but do not try to abuse that fact. If you need to use a second trope to specify a certain thing about their position, that can be excused either because said character represents their trope choice very well alongside the first trope. It is still generally encouraged to only have one trope.
    • A trope can only belong to one profile at a time. The only time two profiles can share a trope is if there are explicit variations listed in the trope page proper (e.g. Muscle Angst is held by both Biscuit Krueger and Chihiro Fujisaki as the former represents "Too Much Muscle" and the latter represents "Not Enough Muscle")
    • If the character you are about to add to a House already exists in another, make sure to mention that this person has spots in another House as well. Up to 2 places can be made for a deity at most.
    • For a character's theme song, try to avoid calling it "Theme of God X" or "Theme of (Show where God X originates from)". If possible, try to find out if the song has an actual name through research. Most importantly, it has to be part of their series' official soundtracks from the media. Do not list songs that are made by fans or outside sources. If they were not specifically used as music for that specific character, then they do not count. Furthermore, it has to be a general theme specifically made for that characters' appearances, not some generic music that plays for many other instances not related to the character in question.
    • For images, when adding an image for your chosen character, it is highly recommended to use a stylized image that embodies the character or renders that also highlight a character's behavior (such as cool poses). Most images should be from the main adaptations of the character unless the images from the other media are of a higher quality than the adaptation. Unless it is needed, do not use fanart for images. If you are, please attribute it to the original artist. Due to the website's dark mode, removing white backgrounds from an image is paramount. This website is suggested to do the background removal. If an image you have takes up too many bytes, it is suggestible to use this site to reduce the byte size. If the byte is still too big, run the compressed image through other sites (or even the same one) to compress even further. Use wikis to look for better images, as even wikis for the series might not contain good official images.
    • Creativity is your friend. While it is not recommended to get too ditzy at your ideas, it is best that when writing a profile for a certain character, do you think of capable scenarios between X and Y. Tip: do not use shallow examples (X wields a sword and Y wields one too) and try to think of relationships that make sense (i.e those characters that are shout-outs for another).
  • Pantheon Content:
    • Some series or genres will eventually have greater representation in the Pantheon than others. This is unavoidable, but a little diversity helps to make you not look like a shill. Try to ensure that if you add a deity from a popular series, make sure that it is because they are a good representative for the trope in question, and not just because they are connected to another deity in their respective canon.
      • As far as deities from actual mythologies, there is generally an expectation to build the profiles off interactions from fictional portrays rather than basing it entirely from the actual myth. Therefore, a mythological deity should be more of a Composite Character whose main identity is from the actual myth.
    • Occasionally there will be Gods that carry a title without a trope. This is not forbidden, but it is well-advised not to abuse them. The only house where trope-less profiles are wholly allowed is the House of Food. Mainly due to most food items lacking tropes, and adding tropes about said foodstuffs is slightly unnecessary. However, the character being ascended for their choice of food, or food-related thing must be a decently good representative of said item. (i.e their Trademark Favorite Food, or something that they are closely associated with In-Universe, or both).
    • For Dominions and Treasures profiles, always consider what made those places/objects popular in the first place. Were they plot-important, identifiable imagery or have a unique aspect of it? Do not just bring regular objects under the basis of following a certain canon.
    • Do not write in self-promotion or blatant advertising. Minor references to something are fine but writing that clearly intends to advertise something will not be given toleration.
  • For Profile Standards:
    • Flavor text is used to describe certain things about a character, place, or object. To avoid short ones, it is recommended to write flavor text with 4-7 sentences that can fill around 2 lines each. Be warned that adding too many sentences does not equal good flavor text as it is not an essay of sorts (unless words are substantial and do add to the overall line).
    • Character Profiles of a certain person should have the following:
      • A portfolio that contains at least 7 (at the minimum) tropes describing their character.
      • Flavor text count for a deity profile should have by minimum, 10 (depending on if the character in question has enough relationships/characterization) to 15 with a maximum of 20-25 for an individual profile.
      • On the other hand, group profiles (profiles of a group that has 4 or more members) have their maximum flavor text count to 15 minimum, giving individual lines for the other members of the group (unless the members are not as characterized) up to 30 at max.
    • Dominion profiles of a certain place should have the following:
      • A portfolio that contains at least 5 (at the minimum) tropes describing the context of the place.
      • Flavor text count should range at least 10 to 15.
    • Treasure profiles (inanimate objects without a trope) should have the following:
      • A portfolio that contains at least 6 (at the minimum) tropes that describes the object itself.
      • Flavor text count should be at least 7 flavor text up to 12 to constitute a treasure profile.
    Divine Ranking System
  • Overdeity: Omnipotent-level Reality Warper deities capable of manipulating the entire universe (or at least the world) at will. Within their own universe they are believed to be omnipotent, or at least impossible-to-completely-destroy embodiments or concepts.
  • Greater Gods: High-level Reality Warper deities that are extremely powerful (capable of destroying or changing anywhere from a large city to a planet at will) and very strong non-reality warpers capable of doing the same thing.
  • Intermediate Gods: Deities at this level are capable of strong but specialized powers such as hydrokinesis, pyrokinesis, etc. without major drawbacks and low-level Reality Warper beings capable of affecting their immediate area at will.
  • Lesser Gods: Capable of highly specific or little power on their own, or suffer from Power at a Price. However, they may be able to ruthlessly exploit their power or combine it with just being badass enough to make up for it.
  • Demigods: Badass Normal citizens of the pantheon, making up for their lower status with strength, strategy, and/or planning.
  • Quasideities: Any otherwise normal human, human equivalent, or below without any special powers or training will fall here.
    Templates
Template for adding a new deity: God X, God/Goddess/Deity of (Insert Trope Here) (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)
  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Rank: This can range from Quasideity, Demigod, Lesser God, Intermediate God, Greater God, to Overdeity, based on the representation of power mentioned above.
  • Symbol: An image or icon used to represent the deity.
  • Theme Song: Official song (in other words, no fan music, regardless of quality) that usually is used in affiliation with the character. If the deity is a musician this will most likely be their Signature Song. If possible, give a link for reference, preferably on either a website like Soundcloud or YouTube.
  • Alignment: Good, evil, neutral, etc. Forget about The Great Character Alignment Debate here; the Pantheon is one of the few places where you can assign Dungeons & Dragons alignments to characters that don't have an alignment system. After all, the Pantheon is based on D&D and is made for fun.
  • For Pokémon deities only:
    • Gender: Defines the gender of the Pokémon; if genderless, it instead defines what gender they identify as.
    • Ability: Provides the Pokémon's ability. If they can Mega Evolve, the new ability is listed as well.
    • Moves: Defines the four moves used by a Pokémon. A Z-Move may also be listed.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the character.
  • Domains: Things that the character has influence over.
  • Herald: Non-ascended loyal character that is from the same series as the ascended character.
  • High Priest: Non-ascended like heralds, but not from the same series, and can serve as a worthy replacement in case the deity would be unavailable, incapacitated, dead, or otherwise incapable of carrying out their duties. They can be served as part-time workers in case the originals are busy with some jobs. Co-Godhood is accepted depending on the approval of the originals, usually if the co-deity is from the same series.
  • Followers: Non-ascended characters that are not part of the Pantheon, but would probably worship this character by the fact that they share the ascended character's trope.
  • Relationships between ascended characters go here with your chosen character, it goes something like this:
    • Allies: Members of the Pantheon that are allies, those that share the same values as them and would theoretically be friends with them.

    • Rivals: Members of the Pantheon that are rivals, people who may look at your character with suspicion or a challenge.
    • Enemies: Members of the Pantheon that are foes, those who would see your chosen character as a threat, either from their perspective or yours.
    • Additional Character Relationships: Members of the Pantheon that do not fit in various relationships (examples include Enemy Mine, Vitriolic Best Buds, Teeth-Clenched Teamwork, Headbutting Heroes, Friendly Enemy, Friendly Rival, Just Friends, etc.), allies, rivals, or enemies.
    • Partner: Defines a partnership with an ascended deity and Mon-type. (if any)
    • Feared by/Fears: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon notably fear or are feared by.
    • Respected by/Respects: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon respect or are respected by.
    • Opposed by/Opposes: Not necessarily the same as "Enemies", but this is used for any deity whom the members of the Pantheon directly oppose or are opposed by (basically the opposite of "Respects", "On Good Terms With", and/or "Commonality Connection") in terms of certain viewpoints, regardless of alignment.
    • Pitied by/Pities: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon feel pity for or are found pitiable by.
    • Conflicting Opinion: Sometimes, the Deities argue over specific themes and philosophies.
      • OPTIONAL NOTE FOR CHARACTER RELATIONSHIPS: Should the list for Character relationships (IE. Allies, Enemies, etc.) become too big, categorize a certain number of characters to a specific group putting them on a sublist (One example: Luigi is from the same world as his brother Mario, hence Luigi should be fall under the Super Mario Bros sublist.)
  • Add the Intro. The intro is made up of two trivia, the Ascension Text (or just the Ascension) and The Bio. Both are necessary, but which order you use for them may vary depending on the profile in question. It may be better for one profile to have The Bio first and the Ascension second or vice-versa, although for the most part, the order is irrelevant:
    • The Ascension Text: This is the story of how the character got into the Pantheon and/or was ascended. There are many ways for this to happen. They may be tricked into it or have simply wandered into the Pantheon, they may have had an already ascended character bring them in, they may already be in the Pantheon (via being another deity's Herald or sharing a trope) and got "promoted", or some combination of the above. Anything is possible in the Pantheon, so use your imagination, but try to incorporate their trope into the story, if possible.
    • The Bio: A brief synopsis of the character's backstory. No need for the character's entire life/production history, but just give enough that those who don't know the character can get an idea of how the character works.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Deities/Characters is 10-15 (15-20 for group profiles) at minimum to 20-25 (30 for group profiles) at maximum.
Template for Dominions profiles: Place X, Place of (Insert Trope Here) (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)
  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Theme Song (Optional): Not important as compared to Deity and Dominion profiles but a notable mention if there is an accompanying song in use with the object.
  • Alignment: Refers to the dominion's role in their story, be it those used by villains or used by the Player Character.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the dominion.
  • Domains: Things that the place has links to.
  • Relationships (Optional): Unless the location has a connection with a specific deity, relationships are optional and may not be required. However, if there are deities linked to the same series as to where the dominion is linked to, note them using the relationships, this includes deities that theoretically have interest with said dominion, good or evil otherwise.
  • Add the Intro. Here the introduction of the Dominion is added with some tidbits regarding the origins of its' creation and usage in the story. You can also add what made it popular/iconic/important here.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Dominions is 10 at minimum to 15 at maximum.
Template for Treasure profiles: The name of the item in here (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)
  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Appearance: A shortened description of the item's looks with some notable features also mentioned.
  • Class: Refer to the Treasure Classification System in the Great Treasury.
  • Alignment: Refers to the objects' role in their story, be it those used by villains or used by the Player Character.
  • Theme Song (Optional): Not important as compared to Deity and Dominion profiles but a notable mention if there is an accompanying song in use with the object.
  • Museum Check: A note that says whether the item is viewable by the public.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the item.
  • Domains: Things that the item has links to.
  • Relationships (Optional): Unless the item has a connection with a specific deity, relationships are optional and may not be required. However, if there are deities linked to the same series as to where the item is linked to (especially the original owner of the item), note them using the relationships, this includes deities that theoretically have interest with said object, good or evil otherwise.
  • Add the Intro. Here the introduction of the Treasure is added with some tidbits regarding the origins of its' creation and usage in the story. You can also add what made it popular/iconic/important here.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Treasures is 7 at minimum to 12 at maximum.

If it makes it any better, I’d been called the leader of the Pantheon by a Youtuber… ’s fan. You can hear some users here gagging at that statement.

Ugh, conversations about people sick of conversations make people more sick. We can always improve the Pantheon’s culture to bring more diversity, though trying to force everyone to appeal to certain mindsets is still objectively trying to extend an authority over people. You dont need to be voted in to have authority over people here (haha discord go vroom). As the first president of the Pantheon, I just say you do what you believe on your own time first. Rubbing that your way is right is just frustrates people. Also, Liberty Prime was in the Pantheon and is just being reintroduced. This shouldnt be this great meta on the state of the Pantheon.

Also, who was the leader we voted in? I want to know because I dont think I was ever invited to that election. Voter suppression is a helluva drug

I have monitored this forum while remaining silent for a long time now (baring brief exceptions to upvote or comment). The situation has gotten so extraordinary that I have to present my opinion, much as I don't want to. I partially back Hamana on the basis of his frustration at how slow it gets.

From personal experience, I have seen how frustrating the process can be in the Pantheon forum, especially if one intends to launch something expansive, such as reorganizing the Superhero and Robot War Divisions in the GUAG. As someone who dislikes lack of structure and rapid processing, this bureaucratic inertia, and the lack of ability to combat it as we have lives outside of the Pantheon for personal, more life-consequential projects gets to nauseating levels at best.

One has every right to be angry at the inertia in the forum. I am too, more so when I was still active. I enjoy proper structuring of Alliances and streamlined suggestions that go through quickly.

The right to frustration, however, must be tempered and controlled. Too often I have seen it released in terse remarks, but among almost all of us, these moments are miniscule, rare and otherwise perfectly normal. Not everyone has unlimited patience.

Hamana, gatekeeping, expressing of personal biases and other such matters are subjective and I admit that unfair treatment has been dealt to this troper several times. I am grateful for how this troper pointed out my misuse of Zamasu in the Quinella. However, this is where the justification stops.

The number one rule of TVTropes is: don't be a dick. There has been a consistent and damaging pattern of this in the forum from this troper, far more than any other regular troper in this forum, over a period of years. It is only recently that I've observed more and more tropers openly voicing outrage and protest against this troper's attitude, because it is no longer tolerable.

Venting frustration in this way is a poor response that only puts the brakes on the forum when it needn't occur.

[up][up],[up] Honestly I'm not sure if both of your posts even answered my statement but whatever. I'm talking about the perceived notion certain tropers have made, as said by Muun right above my post and how said perceived notions can influence certain ideas, especially against that one troper they heavily dislike.

Either what you said in your posts is ignorance or flat out dodging the question.

[down]There was a comma on the lines. Did you not see it or what?

Hamana, please stop putting labels against on critics. Everyone puts enough labels on me as it is. Also, thinking the Pantheon is choking itself autoerotic asphyxiation style over franchises is also a perceived notion. They just want to type interesting things out, and what you can call shilling can be applied to anything here where you write stuff based on things. Going into full-blown conspiracy mode whenever something doesnt go right for you is a time bomb waiting to happen.

Ooh you made Dark Souls profiles that means you are a shiller and want to subtly wanting to remove the diversity of the Pantheon.” Imagine how pissy everyone would be if I kept telling them that.

Also I didnt see that comma. My impaired vision makes me instead focus at Superwiki not finishing a sentence and it ending with “Can we p” before he edited. Because honestly? I’d rather spend time reading that than reading the fiftieth long-ass rant.

This is Halloween once again, where people often end up dressing up as other people, if they're not doing the classics, and even then one could end up looking like someone else already here.

You can see the following sights:

There's no real reason why these characters dress up like this. It could've been some unnecessary elaborate prank of titanic proportions by powerful magic.

Yeah, not as much as the years before. I guess I wasn't paying that much attention to everything going on here to get ideas.

  • Appearance: A high-tech combat suit that comes in either gold and green, or black and red
  • Museum Check: Denied, later Granted upon Tadano Hitonari's ascension
  • Alignment: True Neutral, as it depends on its wearer
  • Portfolio: Powered Armor, Magic-Technology Compatibility, Field Scanners, Adaptive Armor, Magikarp Power, Modular Adaptability
  • Notable users: Flynn (has gotten his hands on both versions), Tadano Hitonari (all six incarnations)
  • Interested Parties: X-COM, most deities from the house of War, General Shepherd, Senator Armstrong, the God-Emperor of Mankind, The Phantom Thieves of Hearts, the Grineer, the Corpus, the Hazardous Environment Combat Unit, Black Ops, SCP Foundation, Global Occult Coalition, Lobotomy Corporation
  • An advanced combat suit developed and sponsored by the United Nations, originally intended for all-environment use, which exceeded all expectations when it was shown to be an excellent choice for survival in the chaotic terrain of the Expanse (the Schwarzwelt). Its superior modular programming allows for an unprecedented degree of customization. Its worth was further confirmed when it was later proven capable of communicating with, allowing the user to recruit, and/or taking down demons thanks to the installation of a variant of Akemi Nakajima's Demon Summoning Program. Aside from this, it has scanners capable of detecting Forma, magic and alien presences, incoming hostile encounters, and studying field conditions. Its advanced circuitry augments the capabilities of the wearer, adjusting itself to their combat preferences to maximize effectiveness. All of this makes it a premium choice for baseline and superpowered personnel alike. However, its main weakness is that it requires considerable amounts of use in combat to reach peak efficiency.
  • Externally resembles a Cyberman, who have no comment so far on these suits. There are two known variants: one in mostly black with red details, and another in gold with a green undersuit. While the black suit is more combat-oriented, the gold variant is significantly more powerful. A couple of DEMONICA suits were found, disassembled, in a certain Tokyo by Mikado Samurai Flynn. While still excellent military gear, it appears a botched reverse-engineering job significantly lowered its abilities, removing most of its Adaptive Ability in favor of more conventional armor. Flynn currently seeks to repair the damaged set he owns, and if possible, augment it by using his faithful AI companion Burroughs as the navigational AI for the armor.
  • Several parties in the Pantheon became interested in acquiring DEMONICA technology. Most of the groups in question are military-affiliated deities or groups such as X-COM, most deities from the house of War, General Shepherd, and Senator Armstrong in particular. They intend, for the most part, to mass produce and use them against any and all potential enemies, all of them having been impressed by the suit's aforementioned combat capabilities. Not to mention The Grineer and the Corpus, alongside profiting off of it with the latter. Likewise, the God-Emperor of Mankind wants to make the gold variant standard issue armor for the Imperial Guard, seeing it as the ultimate weapon against Warp incursions (an armor that allows baseline humans to go toe to toe with Physical Gods and enables them to gain control over demons seems like a dream come true) though he wants to see if he can't tweak it so it comes with a gold undersuit too. And maybe add a few skulls for good measure.
    • Interestingly, there one demon who managed to acquire a personalized variant of the gold and green version. Said demon, one Jack Frost, has been training under Sergeant Hartmann. This particular one is different in that he actually passed and survived the Drill Sergeant's Training from Hell. When he finally earned the right to wear the DEMONICA, he became known from then on as Demonee-Ho, and quickly gained a reputation for his 100% success rate during operations in the field. One can also count the Hazardous Environment Combat Unit and the Black Ops among the interested parties. While the former already have the pretty impressive PCV in their arsenal, the DEMONICA's even more advanced capabilities might just give them the edge they need to fight more powerful aliens and monsters that litter the Pantheon. Both the SCP Foundation and the Global Occult Coalition would also be heavily invested in researching the DEMONICA and how they themselves can use it. And while their Agents already use E.G.O. for combat, Lobotomy Corporation is also intrigued with the Demon Summoning Program, at least.
  • With Tadano Hitonari's ascension to the Pantheon (and them being surprised to discover that the DEMONICA was in the Pantheon's Treasury), a change of policy was in consideration in regards to requisitioning and reverse-engineering it. Thus this gave the Grand United Alliances of Good, Law, and Chaos a head start in research. The GUAs of Evil, Destruction, and Machines are now dedicated to capturing the Hitonaris in order to requisition their DEMONICAs for themselves. Other independent forces not among the above who have interest in the suits are trying the same.
  • Because this suit improves by killing enemies, pacifist combatants will have a hard time making it stronger, though they can still use and recruit demons with it. One can still get it stronger by having their summoned demons kill on their behalf, though. The Phantom Thieves of Hearts (including Akechi) have also been seen with DEMONICA suits on occasion, though these are just outfits and nothing more. Some interest has been drawn to obtain real suits for themselves, though there's the whole "kill foes to give it power" thing, but Metaverse Shadows might qualify for that.

Hamana, you know that thing about The Warriors you posted which included them as the list of media you used as counter-suggestions, only to be rebuffed because of their age? Here is a post for two tropes they might be able to hold a title for.

Back to the Heroman thing. Tbh, while Liberty Prime is all stereotypically American and stuff with "communism bad" leaking out of its voice lines, Heroman seems better so far. American robot AND patriotic pilot. Pretty good combo. This is just from a view that goes off all the info from the arguments for each character.

Checking in on this account after leaving the site, MAN that is a cringy forum post history. Daaamn. Never again.

Honestly, I'm done bothering with Heroman, I would rather just focus on my current profiles. If you are willing to adopt the idea, go ahead. The entire thing just opened my eyes on some clear noticeable behaviours that I had suspicions in a long while about.

I have NO intention of dragging out the drama that's been going on since just some hours ago, so I'll just repost my beta draft for Rexy as it got buried and ignored under all this fuss that nobody wants to see. See my previous post here for specific suggestions that I asked.

  • Complicated Relationship: The Gang of Sevennote
  • Rexy was a female Tyrannosaurus born on Isla Sorna in 1988 via genetic engineering and cloning by InGen. She was looked after in captivity by InGen workers for a few years before she grew into an adult, after which she was scheduled to be transported to Isla Nublar to be the star attraction for a theme park called Jurassic Park. Unfortunately, due to the sinister schemes concocted by rival company Biosyn to steal dinosaur embryos, the power went off during an inspection tour, Rexy broke out of her exhibit before confronting and attacking a truck, signifying the downfall of the park. From there, the Tyrannosaurus proceeded to become the apex predator of the island, though she would unwittingly aid the surviving visitors by killing a Velociraptor pair in the Visitor Center. She reigned the island for a couple of years before she was recaptured by InGen security to be transported to another exhibit, the T. rex Kingdom for a new theme park, Jurassic World, continuing to be a star attraction for a mass audience. Though she was initially uninvolved in Jurassic World's downfall, Rexy was released by Claire Dearing and Lowery Cruthers, with Claire leading her to the Indominus Rex. Despite almost dying, Rexy managed to prevail in this grueling fight thanks to a Velociraptor named Blue and once again became the dominant predator of Isla Nublar.
    • Three years after being set free again, Rexy and the other dinosaurs were under threat by an active Mt. Sibo. She was rescued by Owen Grady, Claire, the Dinosaur Protection Group, and the crew of the Arcadia, though the crew of the Arcadia, led by Eli Mills and fronted by Ken Wheatley intended for Rexy and the captured dinosaurs to be sold off in auctions consisting of amoral rich people who wanted to keep and use them for their own ends. She would be freed from captivity and roam the wilderness of Oregon and California before getting captured by the Department of Fish and Wildlife and being placed in a sanctuary built by Biosyn to thrive in. Regardless, the sanctuary failed thanks to CEO Lewis Dodgson's impulsiveness, causing the dinosaurs to go out free again. In the midst of this, Rexy battles a rival Giganotosaurus, winning thanks to the effort of a Therizinosaurus and continuing to live her life as an apex predator, free from being constantly searched and supervised by others and being a park attraction. That, and she meets a Tyrannosaurus pair in the abandoned sanctuary, finally meeting members of her own kind after decades.
  • Unlike most dinosaurs, any accounts of how and when Rexy ascended into the Pantheon remain a mystery. That said, what is acknowledged is that there are reports of early sightings and encounters of the Tyrannosaurus, such as one where she was sleeping under a tree shade, drinking from a gentle river stream, and letting out a loud roar towards a group of people whom she felt were trespassing in her territory. Outside of more primordial beings like Godzilla, Rexy is one of the first dinosaurs in the Pantheon to be recognized and was one of the first deities acknowledged by and inducted into the House of Beasts and Fauna. Of course, she wasn't there for a formal induction, instead just trotting through a forest doing a small exercise. She did eventually reach her domain, which was a mix of her natural habitat and her T. rex Kingdom exhibit, and felt cozy sleeping there as well as bringing fresh kills there so she could eat without interruption. Many have noted that for such a grand and majestic animal, Rexy doesn't care too much about the Pantheon and would rather lead a normal, predatory life. And as far as her story has shown, it's best to let her lead her own way of life.
  • Rexy is one of the most famous and beloved dinosaurs in the Pantheon, which obviously comes in the territory of being a Tyrannosaurus and one of the most famed exhibitions for two theme parks. That said, while well-respected, Rexy is a predator, and would likely register most animals as prey, so everyone knows it's best to simply keep their distance from her. While an extremely dangerous predator, she only hunts when necessary and would rather roar viciously toward intruders than pursue them for a pointless meal, so she's thankfully not too much of a threat. And finally, she's one of the older and more powerful dinosaurs, having decades of experience as well as being capable of fighting all sorts of animals if she has to. Of course, having the most powerful bite out of any terrestrial animal makes you a force to be reckoned with, plus she's actually quite intelligent for a dinosaur, so it's best not to mess around or antagonize her.

That said, she’d be of interest to Eliza Thornberry, Steve Irwin and David Attenborough, the first one being able to chat with Rexy. A possible Follower or High Priest could be “Hank”, the T. rex father from Prehistoric Planet.

I wasn't here on the previous page so I'm just gonna PM my reply to them.

@nightelf37 - Gonna repost what I've mentioned previously as I wasn't sure if you got my feedback.
@CrimsonShark
  • Cappy and Mario have possess a T-Rex before.
  • Hunters - Saxton Hale - this guy likes to hunt endangered species for sport by wrestling them to the death to prove how manly he is. So he would be stupid enough to think he can take on a T-Rex with his bear hands.
  • Ludwig Von Tökkentäkker has to be the type of guy who would be interest in this creature for his evil carnival.
  • Neweyes' Dinosaurs - They might be weary of her considering she reminds them of what they used to be (wild and predatory) and sometimes wonder what would happen if her ate Brain-Grain cereal.

@JNHZ31161
  • I've already given some Fantastic Racist suggestions before so I'm gonna skip that one.
  • Star - I'm gonna PM you this one since it's quite long and spoilery.
  • Flowey:
    • The spoiler code is not working "[[" then "spoiler:" with no spaces until after the first word, the rest of the words, then "]]" the end of the sentence.
    • I'm not sure what you meant by "how it translate here" just know that the ones who know Flowey's secret is found on the Groups page under "Independent Factions".
    • My Undertale knowledge is a bit murky but I remember the end of the pacifist end where Flowey has a change of heart at the end of the pacifist boss fight because Frisk has shown mercy to him. I would imagine Frisk wanting to give them a second change as well here considering there are people worse than them know and he's semi-redeemed.

Since They Fight Crime! is potentially going to get redirected to Wunza Plot, I'm wondering if Nick Sax & Happy can have their trope changed to Wunza Plot. The premise for Happy! is Nick is an alcoholic disgraced ex-cop, Happy is a hyperactive cartoon unicorn that Nick can see, and they fight crime in New York City.

On another note, I'm done with Shinichi and Migi.

Shinichi Izumi & Migi, Deities of Lovecraftian Superpowers

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rszmigiarm.png
Shinichi, with Migi modifying his arm for combat
  • Lesser Deities
  • Symbol: Shinichi’s parasitic right arm
  • Alignment: Neutral Good (Shinichi); True Neutral, formerly had Blue-and-Orange Morality (Migi)
  • Portfolio: Body Horror, Sharing a Body, Special Odd Hand
  • Domains: Parasites, Transformation
  • Herald: Satomi Murano
  • Allies: Akira Fudou, Eddie Brock, Hellboy, Ryuko Matoi & Senketsu, Sara Pezzini
  • Enemies: Cletus Kasady, Nothing There, SA-X, Carrion, The Thing, Alex Mercer, Eliza, Ragyo Kiryuin
  • Mixed Relations: The Antarctic Research Crew
  • Additional Relations: Meruem & Komugi, Omni-Man
  • Parasites have invaded Earth, taking over anyone they possess and giving them the power to turn parts of their body into bladed tentacles that can slice anyone in their way. Shinichi Izumi is someone who has a parasite in his body, but thanks to him realizing it quickly during his first encounter with such, his right arm gets possessed and not his brain, allowing him to maintain free will in contrast to most other victims. Shinichi works with Migi (the name the parasite that attempted to possess him was given) and together they fight against other parasites, with Shinichi trying to prevent more innocent lives from being killed while Migi is doing it only to ensure its own safety. As their mission continues, Shinichi grapples with what separates being a human from being a monster while Migi develops a better understanding of what humanity is really like, both through the friends, foes, and other enigmatic characters they encounter.
  • There were a few points in Shinichi’s journey where he had dream-like conversations with Migi in regards to where the line between human and monster was at. It had been a while since he saved his girlfriend Satomi Murano from nihilistic serial killer Uragami, with Migi laying dormant for a long period of time when Shinichi ended up having a dream and saw Migi again. Shinichi wasn’t sure what was happening to warrant a meeting like this, but Migi told him that as it was dreaming while in dormancy, Migi learned about multiple worlds, including those where parasite-infected humans live out normal lives similar to what happened once the parasites that invaded Shinichi’s world had settled down. The bigger concern Shinichi had was whether or not him being able to settle down for a normal life was coming to an abrupt end now that not only is Migi communicating with him again, but that there may be threats similar, yet different, to what he confronted in the past headed his way. Migi told him that given what they had gone through, particularly with Shinichi’s stronger resolve, things will likely be different in terms of how Shinichi will handle what the future holds for him in the Pantheon, a world mentioned in passing by Migi and one that became part of where they live.
  • Akira Fudou was another Japanese highschooler who gained access to a deadly power to fight against evil and was someone who Shinichi was able to befriend fairly easily not just for the similarities, but for the notable differences they went through. While both became more confident after gaining their respective abilities, Akira was able to transform himself into a demon while Shinichi was merely able to use his arm as a weapon and where the amoral Migi was able to get a better sense of humanity, Amon (the demon Akira fused with) not only played a role in Akira’s increased aggression, but Akira was susceptible to losing control of his Devilman form if things really got grim for him. Akira’s overall situation was much darker than what Shinichi and even Migi could imagine as not only did Akira lose his friends in his battle against other demons, but the entire world was destroyed in the midst of Devilman’s fatal loss against friend-turned-foe Ryo Asuka (aka Satan). Akira found plenty to like about how Shinichi was able to make the most of maintaining his better side amidst getting dangerous powers even when things get dire for him and the two have become conversation partners since their initial meeting.
  • Learning about the Venom Symbiote and its extended history fascinated Shinichi given how the symbiote gave whoever its bonded to deadly powers not unlike the parasites from his own world and he it’s what led him to meet Eddie Brock, who had a long and storied history with the Venom name in general. The Venom Symbiote has gone through a few different hosts such as Flash Thompson, but it was Eddie who has notable for having went through a lot while being bonded to it and without it, having gone from a vengeful enemy to Peter Parker to a Lethal Protector who was willing to perform heroics, even if such actions end up being violent. One of Eddie’s most prominent adversaries was Cletus Kasady, a psychotic serial killer bonded with the equally violent Carnage symbiote, who Shinichi saw as a nightmare scenario come to life. It was one thing to have a serial killer share a similar dark mindset as Uragami, but it was another to have said serial killer become bonded to a parasitic entity and use it to cause chaos wherever they go. Given the potential for dangerous symbiotes to bond to vile individuals, Shinichi has joined Eddie in fighting against Carnage and other entities that posed a threat to the world.
  • The parasites from Shinichi’s world take over humans, with the signs of a human being host to a parasite going beyond that of turning parts of their bodies into bladed tentacles. While some parasites that Migi and Shinichi encountered had their own goals beyond simply trying to take over humanity, there were entities in the Pantheon that disguised themselves as humans, but were far more malevolent than many other parasites the duo had encountered. The Carrion and Nothing There were among the more horrifying figures that could disguise themselves as humans, but otherwise acted far more dangerous than some of the more aggressive parasites Shinichi and Migi fought against. The X Parasites had the potential to throw planets out of balance by assimilating victims, with the SA-X being one example of how deadly the X Parasites can be if left unchecked. While the invasion of parasites in Shinichi’s world ended with the parasites becoming a part of human culture (and the murders that had happened when they initially arrived ending at that point), some parasites such as the X Parasites could destroy everything people care about and it’s an event that Shinichi doesn’t want to see happen at any point.
  • What happened with The Antarctic Research Crew when they were trapped with a shapeshifting parasite known only as The Thing was something that unnerved Shinichi given that he tried to keep Migi a secret from others as much as he can and that The Thing taking the form of other humans led to psychological torture among the humans trapped with it. As much as the crew has its reasons to despise parasites as evil as what they had encountered, parasites invading Earth and taking over multiple humans was something that they saw as a living nightmare, even if said parasites eventually acclimated themselves to human culture without resorting to murder. To learn of someone like Shinichi who not only was able to keep his humanity despite having a parasite inside of him, but was able to get the parasite to understand human behavior in general, was a shock to the crew as it could mean that there are parasites out there who are different from the relentless killing machines that they were accustomed to. Despite this, Shinichi had a tense experience working with law enforcement in trying to snuff out evil parasites while trying to keep Migi hidden, so he is apprehensive about working with a group of people who could turn against each other if something is off about one of their own.
  • The Blacklight Virus was a deadly virus created by amoral scientist Alex Mercer, with the latter having lost his memories as a result of being infected by it. As horrifying as the virus is, Mercer ended up being even worse than his creation and that’s not getting into the fact that after stopping a nuke, he lost faith in humanity (and he was trying to find something that would let him still care about humanity before giving up on it) and using the Blacklight virus to either wipe out most of humanity or infect others into becoming powerful soldiers with himself as their leader. It would lead to James Heller, an aggressive army veteran who was infected with a strain of Blacklight as part of Mercer’s plan to take over the world, to fight back against Mercer and his army of Evolved. The powers granted by the Blacklight virus are potentially even more horrifying than what Migi and the other parasites could do to whoever they infect and given the potential damage caused at the hands of something that had long given up on humanity, Shinichi is more than aware that going up against Mercer will be a more dangerous fight than what previously happened against a powerful parasite named Goto. Even if Shinichi does have the help of the aggressive, yet determined, Heller (who was intrigued at how not only Shinichi was able to keep his humanity despite having a parasite that can grant inhuman abilities, but playing a role in having said parasite understand human behavior and emotions) and other individuals that can put up a fight against Mercer, Shinichi is more worried about the consequences of a deadly virus being unleashed and causing others to turn against humanity at the hands of someone who believes the only way to get rid of humanity’s cruelty is to put the human race at an even greater risk.
  • After getting his right arm assimilated by Migi, Shinichi’s primary means of fighting is using said arm as a weapon with Migi’s help. While plenty of other deities in the Pantheon who have unique arms aren’t able to directly talk to them the way Shinichi can, some of their ordeals regarding their sense of self is something Shinichi can relate to. Hellboy was prophesied to bring about the end of the world, but being raised by humans and having been part of a group that fights against paranormal threats, he has tried to live his life as normal as he can be despite the threats present and him having to confront his past. Sara Pezzini is the wielder of the Witchblade, a weapon that grants whoever uses it great power, but with the risk of being corrupted by it, and Sara has had to contend with moral dilemmas posed by using a weapon as dangerous as the Witchblade. Given that Shinichi was trying to keep living his life despite having a parasite inside of himself and being at risk of becoming a colder individual, he is understanding of what Hellboy and Sara had gone through when it comes to the power they have and trying to do good with it.
  • Ryuko Matoi and Senketsu were a similar person/parasite duo who used their powers to fight against the parasite’s kind who Shinichi and Migi were able to get along with (even though Senketsu is more openly heroic in contrast to Migi’s alien nature). In contrast to the parasitic enemies Shinichi and Migi fought having some sort of depth to them beyond just being the killing machines they initially battled, Ryuko and Senketsu’s ultimate enemies were far more vile to the point of disturbing both Shinichi and Migi. Despite appearing human, Ragyo Kiryuin was more than willing to enslave humanity to the Life Fibers and has physically and psychologically abused Ryuko and her sister Satsuki. To learn of someone with such a callous disregard for the well-being of others trying to enslave others to parasitic entities horrified Shinichi and Ragyo doesn’t even have a semi-understandable reason for her actions unlike Mercer (even if it still doesn’t justify Mercer’s goals). Knowing the measures Ragyo will take to ensure her plan succeeds, Shinichi was more than willing to help Ryuko in fighting against a human forcibly trying to subjugate humanity at the hands of deadly parasites.
  • There were a few other entities who had parasitic powers and used them for good, or at the very least had a kind personality akin to Mamoru Uda and his parasite Jaw, who Shinichi and Migi encountered and received their help a couple of times. Shinichi would encounter two girls named Filia and Squigly, who had their own parasites named Samson and Leviathan respectively, but despite the girls having not hating each other, their parasites don’t get along with each other, not helped by Samson having a far more aggressive personality compared to the relatively cordial Leviathan or even Migi, who grew to understand the world around itself. One particular parasitic person that Shinichi doesn’t display any kindness towards was Eliza, whose parasite Sekhmet has more or less fused with her entirely to the point where the two work incredibly well together, drains the life of others to extend her already-long lifespan, and weaponizes blood in order to fight. While trying to be a mediator to Samson and Leviathan’s bickering won’t get a genuine friendship between Filia and Squigly to happen, Eliza’s ruthless ambitions and capabilities have given Shinichi a reason to try and slow down Eliza’s conquests with Filia and Squigly’s help, even if such a battle ends up putting Migi in danger comparable to what happened against Goto.
  • While Migi initially didn’t care much about humans similarly to the other parasites that invaded Earth, it along with another parasite named Reiko Tamura (previously known as Ryoko Tamiya) developed a stronger understanding of humanity thanks to Shinichi’s influence and Reiko’s experimentation leading her to give birth to a human child respectively. Among other extranormal entities that grew thanks to human influence included Mereum, king of the Chimera Ants who had a friendship with a blind girl named Komugi, and Omni-Man, a powerful alien whose mission to help the Viltrumites conquer Earth led to a complex series of events that greatly impacted his perception of humanity, including starting a family and raising a son that also had superpowers. Shinichi and Migi noted that Nolan Grayson spending time with a makeshift family played a role in him growing as an individual not unlike how the human baby helped Reiko develop some human emotions, even if the path that Nolan embarked on was far more complicated than what any parasite, be it Migi or Reiko, has gone through. Migi in particular noted that just like how Shinichi changed Migi’s perception of humans, individuals with a strong resolve and/or are kind-hearted like the ones that Omni-Man and Mereum befriended are effective in helping powerful extranormal entities see humanity as something unique as opposed to something expendable.
  • Having gone through a lot when it came to the many virtues and vices of humanity, Shinichi has a nuanced view of them in that while humans can be flawed, it doesn’t make them inherently bad. Some in the Pantheon have their own perspectives of humanity as Shinichi would learn and while some believe in the best of humanity for better and worse, others see little value in them and believe the human race is bound to cause misery for each other unless something is done about it. There were a handful of nihilists whose mindset unnerved Shinichi to a greater extent than what Uragami could do, but it was individuals such as Johan Liebert who were willing to convince humans to act on their worst instincts that Shinichi had a particular hatred towards. Despite Shinichi’s inhuman powers (and having a parasite in general can make one inhuman in a way regardless of if that parasite develops an understanding of humans or not), he’s seen the best and worst of humanity and is hopeful that humanity’s flaws doesn’t drive them to madness, but instead to let them grow as individuals.

For Kat, perhaps she can have Gravity Master, as her powers involve altering gravity, which affects gameplay in making her walk on walls, float on the air and attack enemies from above. I know Shu Shirakawa has that trope, but his profile doesn't look very developed and I wouldn't mind him getting the boot.

[up][up][up][up] [tup] for Shinichi & Migi, as well as the proposed trope change.

[up][up][up] I agree with the idea of giving Shu's Gravity Master trope to Kat since from what I've seen, Shu doesn't have a strong tie with the trope. I also wouldn't mind booting out Shu's profile either.

As for Recette, An Entrepreneur Is You and Dungeon-Based Economy are great replacement tropes given that her game is all about running a dungeon shop for explorers (I would choose the latter), and don't seem to be taken.

I have been advised against trying to ascend Polandball because of the worry of flame bait regarding current political events. However I am wondering if that's a full ban, or if countryballs that aren't considered "flame bait countries" are kosher. Just something I want consensus on; I feel they shouldn't get perma-banned from having more added

Darquesse's entry needs updating. In the newest Skulduggery Pleasant book, Until the End, she does a Heel–Face Turn by remaking the universe after it's erased, which also doubles as Redemption Equals Death.
