Trope Pantheons Discussion

Go To

Welcome to the Trope Pantheons thread! Please read the rules:

    Rules
Rules. The following are not suggestions or tips, but things that have to be followed:
  • When writing a profile, take note of the following:
    • Gods cannot be followers or high priests for obvious reasons. The 'gods' have ascended meaning there is no need for said character to be a follower of another if they have ascended.
    • No hype profiles, please. 'Hype Profiles' are profiles that have been made out of ongoing events and have not been around for a long time. This creates 'hype' due to popularity and certain elements either through certain scenes, memes, dramatic acting or considered overly awesome. They are not bad tropes but building a portfolio solely for that is a bad idea, as they do not say a thing about representing the trope best (unless it's those trope concepts that they are trying to embody for a long time)
      • You can see one if the profile is only showing off how awesome they are or suddenly pushing how 'significant' they are thanks to the just very recent events rather than respecting the longstanding good representations of the trope. And usually having... minimum portfolio or flavor texts and being a bit too generalized or self-contained to events from within their home series instead of interacting with other Pantheon members.
  • When posting in the forum, take note of the following:
    • When you suggest a God, please explain why they fit the trope. Not everyone is going to understand just "X should be the God of Y because they exemplify the trope" off the bat, especially if they're unfamiliar with the work.
    • You must use the Trope Pantheons discussion thread in the forums if you wish to add a new deity, story, something else of importance to the Trope Pantheon canon, or reworking an existing deity (be it simply improving their existing profile or changing their title).
      • For new and reworked deities, 3 [tup] means the profile will have a one week waiting period.
      • For new and reworked deities, 4 [tup] is a 3 day waiting period.
      • 5 [tup] is an automatic ascension for new and reworked deities.
      • Speaking of reworks, for anyone that wants to improve such profiles, they have to review the current trope the character(s) has and see if it still holds up or if there is a better rep for their trope.
    • For adding new Treasures to The Great Treasury or new Dominions to the Dominions, the following rules apply:
      • For new Treasures or Dominions, 3 [tup] is a 3 day waiting period.
      • 4 [tup] is an automatic addition to the Great Treasury or Dominions.
    • Do not repost a profile in the forums more than twice in a day if noticeable changes have not been made in between. If a profile is posted a third time in a row without noticeable alterations, it will be downvoted. This is so spamming of no-effort profiles is less frequent and to prevent tropers from getting aggravated seeing the same profile over and over. The minimum acceptable change has to be a single flavour text.
    • The Pantheon is not a mouthpiece for you to voice your opinions on certain characters. You may like certain characters more than others, but do not make the mistake of making profiles for characters you like look like Character Shilling.
    • Tropers new to the Pantheon are barred from approving or downvoting profiles until they have ascended at least two profiles.
    • Do not include fan reception in any profiles. It has nothing to do with the character themselves and will create unnecessary conflict.
    • Write a detailed explanation on why the character is the best candidate for deity of that trope. If people disagree with you, do not force it on the people.
    • Keep in mind that if you still want to try to find a trope for a particular character, you are only given three chances to find a particular trope for them. If a suggestion goes past three possible tropes, then it will come off as shoehorning a character into the Pantheon just for the sake of that character to be there.
      • On a related note, even if a character does have a free trope being suggested, there is still a limit of three attempts for suggesting that character for that trope. If no one responds to that certain proposal after being posted three times, then it will get to the point where the idea will be seen as being shoehorned into the Pantheon. In addition, the idea needs to be considered acceptable and approved because they are good, not for the sake of pitying others because no one is responding to their idea.
  • When posting Pantheon related stuff to the wiki, take note of the following:
    • Do not put a link to these Pantheon pages into the main wiki page. The moment you want to add in a main Characters page that the character is a God of this trope, do not do it. If you see leftovers of this practice, inform the forum and use the cutlist. This also goes to the Trivia page. The only exception to this rule is if a page in the Pantheon could be confused for a page in Main, like Good Colors, Evil Colors and Good and Evil Colors.
    • Rule of Cautious Editing Judgment ALSO applies here. Do not bring things that would incite fights, even if it is what is currently the hot topic and might be 'urgent'. For example, the political scene and some really bad politicians. We are not here to fight at each other, so don't suggest things that go to that direction, this is a fictional Pantheon after all.
    • To add a Pantheon page for a certain work, 4 or more characters coming from the same series/franchise should be ascended before adding the page. For Creator specific pages, 4 deities coming from the same creator and 2 individual work pages coming from the same creator is the minimum to warrant a page.
    • Do not create a trope page for a story until the story is fully completed.

    Instructions and Tips
Here are some tips one should keep in mind when editing:

  • Preparing to write:
    • First thing to do before present a profile is to go to the Trope Pantheons discussion thread. In the forums, you must discuss with other users on adding ideas and seek their approval with sound reasoning. You can also get some assistance in the forum thread by either asking for help and those interested asking if they can help. Submissions that are added without discussion are likely to be deleted and those who violate those rules by adding Pantheon content without discussion will get reported to the mods.
    • If you feel the need to remove a character for some reason (poor quality, outdated titles, etcetera) and replace him/her with another or outright rework, please see what the other tropers think about this in the discussion thread before doing anything hasty. Use good reasoning to see if your idea can easily replace the character present without drawing out your statement or giving too ambiguous claims most do not understand.
    • Please be sure to consult others in the discussion about what you want to work before making the profile. This is done to see if your proposal is the best representative and so, in case your profile is turned down, you do not waste time writing something that others might not find suitable.
      • In the same vein, if you adopt a profile from another troper, it is recommended that you make an announcement that you have done so on the discussion thread. More often than not, a trope that was reserved for something was given away to someone else. Check the Related tab on the top of a page to see if a trope or character has been reserved by a user.
    • If, for whatever reason, you are writing about a God who just happens to be a person in real life, just try to be very careful about what you decide to say. Do not try to make the editing seem too meta (self-referential) and use the aformentioned creativity to create hypothetical scenarios towards fictional characters.
  • When writing a profile for a character, here are a few things to note:
    • All deities should be sorted by their divine ranking. Put Overdeities on the top of the page and Quasideities on the bottom. Also be sure to add them in alphabetical order by their first/given name (can be reversed if it is Eastern ordered). For a group, if there is no official name for them all list down all their names by order of relevance or (if too long to list) title them as Insert Name Here Main Characters or some other identifiable title along the same lines.
    • The maximum number of tropes that a god can have is two, but do not try to abuse that fact. If you need to use a second trope to specify a certain thing about their position, that can be excused either because said character represents their trope choice very well alongside the first trope. It is still generally encouraged to only have one trope.
    • A trope can only belong to one profile at a time. The only time two profiles can share a trope is if there are explicit variations listed in the trope page proper (e.g. Muscle Angst is held by both Biscuit Krueger and Chihiro Fujisaki as the former represents "Too Much Muscle" and the latter represents "Not Enough Muscle")
    • If the character you are about to add to a House already exists in another, make sure to mention that this person has spots in other House as well. Up to 2 places can be made for a deity, with the sole exceptions being those at the Main House to highlight those characters’ importance to the Pantheon’s lore.
    • For a character's theme song, try to avoid calling it "Theme of God X" or "Theme of (Show where God X originates from)". If possible, try to find out if the song has an actual name through research. Most importantly, it has to be part their series’ official soundtracks from media. Do not list songs that are made by fans or outside sources. If they were not specifically used as music for that specific character, then they do not count. Furthermore, it has to be a general theme specifically made for that characters’ appearances, not some generic music that plays for many other instances not related to the character in question.
    • For images, when adding an image for your chosen character, it is highly recommended to use a stylized image that embodies the character or renders that also highlights a character’s behavior (such as cool poses). Most images should be from the main adaptations of the character, unless the images from the other media are of a higher quality than the adaptation. Unless it is needed, do not use fanart for images. If you are, please attribute to the original artist. Due to the website’s dark mode, removing white backgrounds from an image is paramount. This website is suggested to do the background removal. If an image you have takes up too much bytes, it is suggestible to use this site to reduce the byte size. If the byte is still too big, put the compressed image to other sites (or even the same one) to compress even further. Use wikias to look for better images, as even wikias for the series might not contain good official images.
    • Creativity is your friend. While it is not recommended to get too ditzy at your ideas, it is best that when writing a profile for a certain character, do you think of capable scenarios between X and Y. Tip: do not use shallow examples (X wields a sword and Y wields one too) and try to think of relationships that makes sense (i.e those characters that are shout-outs for another).
  • Pantheon Content:
    • Some series or genres will eventually have greater representation in the Pantheon than others. This is unavoidable, but a little diversity helps to make you not look like a shill per say. Try to ensure that if you add a deity from a popular series, make sure that it is because they are a good representative for the trope in question, and not just because they are connected to another deity in their respective canon.
      • As far as deities from actual mythologies, there is generally expectation to build the profiles off interactions from fictional portrays rather than basing it entire from the actual myth. Therefore, a mythological deity should be more of a Composite Character whose main identity is from the actual myth.
    • Occasionally there will be Gods that carry a title without a trope. This is not forbidden, but it is well advised not to abuse them. The only house that a tropeless profile are wholly allowed is the House of Food. Mainly due to most food items lacking tropes, and adding tropes about said foodstuffs is slightly unnecessary. However, the character being ascended for their choice of a food, or food-related thing must be a decently good representative of said item. (i.e their Trademark Favorite Food, or something that they are closely associated with In-Universe, or both).
    • For Dominions and Treasures profiles, always consider what made those places/objects popular in the first place. Were they plot-important, identifiable imagery or have a unique aspect of it? Do not just bring regular objects under the basis of following a certain canon.
  • For Profile Standards:
    • Flavor text is used to describe certain things about a character, place or object. To avoid short ones, it is recommended to write flavor text with 4-7 sentences that can fill around 2 lines each. Be warned that adding too many sentences does not equal good flavor text as it is not an essay of sorts (unless words are substantial and do add to the overall line).
    • Character Profiles of a certain person should have the following:
      • A portfolio that contains at least 7 (at the minimum) tropes describing their character.
      • Flavor text count for a deity profile should have by minimum, 10 (depending if the character in question has enough relationships/characterization) to 15 with a maximum of 20-25 for an individual profile.
      • On the other hand, group profiles (profiles of a group that has 4 or more members) have their maximum flavor text count to 15 minimum, giving individual lines for the other members of the group (unless the members are not as characterized) up to 30 at max.
    • Dominion profiles of a certain place should have the following:
      • A portfolio that contains at least 5 (at the minimum) tropes describing the context of the place.
      • Flavor text count should range at least 10 to 15.
    • Treasure profiles (inanimate objects without a trope) should have the following:
      • A portfolio that contains at least 6 (at the minimum) tropes that describes the object itself.
      • Flavor text count should be at least 7 flavor text up to 12 to constitute a treasure profile.

    Divine Ranking System
  • Overdeity: Omnipotent-level Reality Warpers capable of manipulating the entire universe (or at least the world) at will. Within their own universe they are believed to be omnipotent, or at least impossible-to-completely-destroy embodiments or concepts.
  • Greater Gods: High-level Reality Warpers and that are extremely powerful (capable of destroying or changing anywhere from a large city to a planet at will) and very strong non-reality warpers capable of doing the same thing.
  • Intermediate Gods: Deities at this level are capable of strong but specialized powers such as hydrokinesis, pyrokinesis, etc. without major drawbacks and low level Reality Warpers capable of affecting their immediate area at will.
  • Lesser Gods: Capable of highly specific or little power on their own, or suffer from Power at a Price. However, they may be able to ruthlessly exploit their power or combine it with just being badass enough to make up for it.
  • Demigods: Basically the Badass Normals of the pantheon, making up for their lack of abilities with strength, strategy, and/or planning.
  • Quasideities: Any otherwise normal human, human equivalent, or below without any special powers or training will fall here.

    Templates
Template for adding a new deity:

God X, God/dess of (Insert Trope Here) (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)

  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Rank: This can range from Quasideity, Demigod, Lesser God, Intermediate God, Greater God, to Overdeity, based on representation of power mentioned above.
  • Symbol: An image or icon used to represent the deity.
  • Theme Song: Official song (in other words, no fan music, regardless of quality) that usually is used in affiliation with the character. If the deity is a musician this will most likely be their Signature Song. If possible, give a link for reference, preferably on either a website like Soundcloud or YouTube.
  • Alignment: Good, evil, neutral etc. Forget about The Great Character Alignment Debate here, the Pantheon is one of the few places where you can assign Dungeons & Dragons alignment to characters that don't have alignment system. After all, the Pantheon is based on D&D and is made for fun.
  • For Pokémon deities only:
    • Gender: Defines the gender of the Pokémon; if genderless, it instead defines what gender they identify as.
    • Ability: Provides the Pokémon's ability. If they can Mega Evolve, the new ability is listed as well.
    • Moves: Defines the four moves used by a Pokémon. A Z-Move may also be listed.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the character.
  • Domains: Things that the character has influence over.
  • Herald: Non-ascended loyal character that is from the same series as the ascended character.
  • High Priest: Non-ascended like heralds, but not from the same series, and can serve as a worthy replacement in case something would happen. They can be served as part-time workers in case the originals are busy with some jobs. Co-Godhood is accepted depending on the approval of the originals, usually if the co-deity is from the same series.
  • Followers: Non-ascended characters that are not part of the Pantheon, but would probably worship this character by the fact that they share the ascended character's trope.
  • Relationships between ascended characters go here with your chosen character, it goes something like this:
    • Allies: Members of the Pantheon that are allies, those that share the same values as them and would theoretically be friends with them.
    • Rivals: Members of the Pantheon that are rivals, people who may look at your character with suspicion or a challenge.
    • Enemies: Members of the Pantheon that are foes, those who would see your chosen character as a threat, either on their pespective or yours.
    • Additional Character Relationships: Members of the Pantheon that do not fit in various relationships (examples include Enemy Mine, Vitriolic Best Buds, Teeth-Clenched Teamwork, Headbutting Heroes, Friendly Enemy, Friendly Rival, Just Friends, etc.), allies, rivals, or enemies.
    • Partner: Defines a partnership with an ascended deity and Mon-type. (if any)
    • Feared by/Fears: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon notably fear or are feared by.
    • Respected by/Respects: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon respect or are respected by.
    • Opposed by/Opposes: Not necessarily the same as "Enemies", but this is used for any deity whom the members of the Pantheon directly opposes or is opposed by (basically the opposite of "Respects") terms of certain viewpoints, regardless of alignment.
    • Pitied by/Pities: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon feel pity for or are found pitiable by.
    • Conflicting Opinion: Sometimes, the Deities argue over specific themes and philosophies.
  • Add the Intro. The intro is made up of two trivia, the Ascension Text (or just the Ascension) and The Bio. Both are necessary, but which order you use for them may vary depending on the profile in question. It may be better for one profile to have The Bio first and the Ascension second or vice-versa, although for the most part the order is irrelevant:
    • The Ascension Text: This the story of how the character got into the Pantheon and/or was ascended. There are many ways for this to happen. They may be tricked into it or have simply wandered into the Pantheon, they may have had an already ascended character bring them in, they may already be in the Pantheon (via being another deity's Herald or sharing a trope) and got "promoted", or some combination of the above. Anything is possible in the Pantheon, so use your imagination, but try to incorporate their trope into the story, if possible.
    • The Bio: A brief synopsis on the character's backstory. No need for the character's entire life/production history, but just give enough that those who don't know the character can get an idea of how the character works.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple of more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Deities/Characters is 10-15 (15-20 for group profiles) at minimum to 20-25 (30 for group profiles) at maximum.

Template for Dominions profiles:

Place X, Place of (Insert Trope Here) (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)

  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Theme Song (Optional): Not important as compared to Deity and Dominion profiles but a notable mention if there is an accompanying song in use with the object.
  • Alignment: Refers to the dominion's role in their story, be it those used by villains or used by the Player Character.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the dominion.
  • Domains: Things that the place has links to.
  • Relationships (Optional): Unless the location has a connection with a specific deity, relationships are optional and may not be required. However, if there are deities linked to the same series as where the dominion is linked to, note them using the relationships, this includes deities that theoretically have interest with said dominion, good or evil otherwise.
  • Add the Intro. Here the introduction of the Dominion is added with some tidbits regarding the origins of its' creation and usage in the story. You can also add what made it popular/iconic/important here.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple of more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Dominions is 10 at minimum to 15 at maximum.

Template for Treasure profiles:

The name of the item in here (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)

  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Appearance: A shortened description of the item's looks with some notable features also mentioned.
  • Class: Refer to the Treasure Classification System in the Great Treasury.
  • Alignment: Refers to the objects' role in their story, be it those used by villains or used by the Player Character.
  • Theme Song (Optional): Not important as compared to Deity and Dominion profiles but a notable mention if there is an accompanying song in use with the object.
  • Museum Check: A note that says whether the item is viewable by the public.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the item.
  • Domains: Things that the item has links to.
  • Relationships (Optional): Unless the item has a connection with a specific deity, relationships are optional and may not be required. However, if there are deities linked to the same series as where the item is linked to (especially the original owner of the item), note them using the relationships, this includes deities that theoretically have interest with said object, good or evil otherwise.
  • Add the Intro. Here the introduction of the Treasure is added with some tidbits regarding the origins of its' creation and usage in the story. You can also add what made it popular/iconic/important here.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple of more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Treasures is 7 at minimum to 12 at maximum.

@M1gamiTensei: Find a prominent deity representing an envy trope who supports Chaos. Should be sound advice. Hence, that deity should also be a prominent figure in the Pantheon. I'll rig up some replacement suggestions later.

EDIT: Never mind.

Welcome to the Pantheon, where despite all the ways people can come back to life, Rose Quartz/Pink Diamond can't exist in it.

And let us welcome (back) the Heroes of Luxendarc, formerly known as the Bravely Default Main Party, introducing Yew Genealogia and Magnolia Arch.

No-Thumbs Mode

I would appreciate some help with this too.

The Asterisks

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/bdpb_asterisk.png
One such Asterisk
  • Apperance: hexagonal stones that bear the symbol of an asterisk
  • Alignment: Depending on its holder('s party)
  • Portfolio: Job System, Anti-Escape Mechanism, Amazing Technicolor Battlefield
  • Domains: Job Classes, Artifact,
  • Onwers: The Heroes of Luxendarc
  • Asterisks are jewel-like objects that were created by the Sage Yulyana in his plot to usurp the Crystal Orthodoxy's authority in "granting vocations".
  • Initially, changing one's job or 'vocation' required a special approval from within the Crystal Orthodoxy. With the asterisks however, the Sage would be able to prevent the institution from growing rich from fat profits known as 'alms'. Sage approached the panicked high officials and the grand patriarch, proposing to them the asterisks, mentioning that "granting vocations should be based on it, as overseen by the Orthodoxy." To that end, those wanting to apply for a 'vocation' would apply to the Orthodoxy and pay a fair price. Those who could pay may apply to change their jobs. The grand patriarch and his officials only sought profit through it, thus they agreed to Sage's proposal.
  • Afterwards, Sage was then appointed by the grand patriarch as the 'overseer' of the new asterisk system. However, since Sage was the only person who possessed the knowledge of creating the asterisks, coupled with the fact that he had changed the previous system of changing jobs towards the asterisk system, he had essentially robbed the Crystal Orthodoxy of their authority to grant vocations. Acknowledging his success in having robbed the Orthodoxy of their influence, he escaped from the position, taking with him the knowledge of creating the asterisks. Since the profits gained from the asterisk system were controlled by Sage who had already sequestered himself within the Yulyana Woods, the Crystal Orthodoxy were thus rendered incapable of gaining any semblance of profit from the asterisk job system.
  • These Asterisks were once held by various officials in the Eternian Empire before being… "relieved" of them by Tiz and company, and a few others were also retrieved from various elites in the G"anz Empire. Due to the risk of these Asterisks getting stolen (and thus bequeathing their powers to those thieves, not to mention anyone else who gets their hands on them), they requested for the Court to place these in the Treasury. As for how they'll be able to change jobs without them, turns out their ascension already grants that, just like how Bartz doesn't need the Crystal fragments from his world to do the same anymore.

John Ronald Reuel Tolkien, God of Languages (J. R. R. Tolkien, CBE FRS)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jrr_tolkien.jpg
  • Demigod
  • Symbol: A Contraction of his Initials.
  • Alignment: Neutral Good
  • Portfolio: High Fantasy Series, Cunning Linguistics, Bilingual Bonus, Cash Cow Franchises, Trope Namers, Never Giving Up.
  • Domains: Languages, Literature.
  • Followers: Every fantasy writer, though some don't like to admit it.
  • Underlings: Eru Ilúvatar, Melkor, Sauron, Aragorn, Samwise "Sam" Gamgee, Frodo and Bilbo Baggins, Smaug
  • Allies: Alan Wake, Joanne Murray, Terry Pratchett, every Good Deity in the Houses of Quirks and Narrative, Louise Banks
  • Rivals: George R. R. Martin
  • Opposes: The Beatles
  • Opposed by: Stanley Kubrick
  • The writer Tolkien well regarded by many in the Pantheon for various reasons. He has created the basis for the Five Races and their subsequent successors as well as kick-starting the Fantasy genre by himself. Yet one little known fact about him is his proficiency at creating brand new languages. A linguist, Tolkien used this knowledge to create several different languages with their own vocabulary, establishing languages for elves, dwarves, orcs and the like. His contribution to fictional languages was enough to land him a spot on The Transcribers in the House of Quirks.
  • The position comes with a number of nice perks. Most importantly, he's the only God who can understand the entire Pantheon without reading thoughts. Any new deity with language issues can turn to him to help bridge the language barrier than can arise with new deities
  • Tolkien and his underling Sauron would like to remind you that The One Ring is not a metaphor for drugs or nukes. The biographic film explains as such.
  • Terry Pratchett is one of Tolkien's foremost advocates of his works. Terry has no problem admitting that Tolkien was his inspiraion when writing the Discworld universe. Tolkien finds the other author's theories regarding narration intriguing, pondering whether things truly are to be.
  • When asked about his influence in fiction, Tolkien stated that he was overwhelmed with just how many works turn to his books for inspiration. He thoroughly enjoys the first trilogy and watches it with many of his underlings whenever he can. That... can't be said of the prequel trilogy.
  • One of the very few fantasy writers able to approach him in terms of influence, George R. R. Martin has risen to become one of his most foremost critics of his stories. The writer of A Song of Ice and Fire series has taken a hard look at everything from the fate of the orcs to the economy required for armies to travel without starving to death. GRRM has been the most dismissive is the nature of Good vs Evil conflict prevalent in much of fiction.
  • Loved the fact that a linguist was able to save the world from what could have been a horrible misunderstanding. So much so that he personally helped deify Louise Banks. He believes if there was any other linguist who should ascend, it should be her.
    • Together, the two made it their mission to continue research on the language of the Heptapods. With the nature of their language, the two believe the alien species may be key to resolving all conflicts in the Pantheon.
  • The Silmarillion was developed in the last days of his mortal life... and years later, his son Christopher completed the work and published it. Had it not for that, neither Eru nor Melkor have made important roles in the Trope Pantheon.
  • One of the more bizarre grudges in the Pantheon is between Tolkien and the Beatles. It all started when the author refused to let them star in a Beatles adaptaion. The reason? He hated their music. It didn't help that they played three blocks from his house nearly every day. Once the Beatles ascended, they commemorated their stay by playing outside his temple every night for one month. Over the years, it has been customary of their followers to trash the other's work of art.
    • Things took a n even crazier twist when Kubrick arrived at the Pantheon. The man was supposed to direct the movie, and he did not take kindly to the fact that he lost out the chance to direct a beloved franchise. So it was pretty easy for him to side with the music band in the dispute. Tolkien stated that he has no qualms with Kubrick, acknowledging that he is a talented director.

  • Opposes: Demitri Maximoff
  • The lone wolf of Southtown is amongst the legends of fighting deities, matching the likes of Ryu. Of course, being an American (and proud of it), Terry used English names for his deadly moves, which could sometimes produce hilarity. And thus he ascended, hilarious name-calling or not, he still made it badass. Never once has a simple Engrish phrase of "HEY, C'MON C'MON" struck awe and fear to opponents.
  • For all his Engrish and street fighting, he's having trouble in winning in Fighting Games in the House of Gaming. The only one he can win against is the technology-deaf Ryu.
  • He's really shocked for the presence of Geese Howard, his worst enemy and the murderer of his adoptive father Jeff.
    Terry: "GEESE!"
  • "ARE YOU OKAY!?!? BUSTER WOLF!" For the record, NEVER look not-okay in front of Terry. That is what awaits you if you ever look not-okay in front of him. Also, don't mention the fact that it was Capcom who first coined the term.
  • While he's very okay with the presence of Mai Shiranui, he is kinda annoyed when she pesters him about the whereabouts of his brother Andy. Not that Terry wouldn't use that to Troll on Andy whenever he visits the mortal realm. Regardless, he does hope that Andy can stay pernamently soon.
  • Terumi once visits him to Troll him about his 'outdated style'. Terry just responded by claiming just how cute his remarks are, completely unaffected with the Trolling. A pissed off Terumi struck back, but the aforementioned BUSTER WOLF threw him out of Terry's house.
  • While beating up bad guys, he ended up instigating a fight with Burai Yamamoto after waking him up in the midst of it, who then kicked his ass in the span of one minute. He doesn't want to talk about that incident.
  • Once challenged Ken to a fight to determine who was the better American fighter. The battle would get out of hand and end with Terry killing Ken. Despite the incident, the two are still on good terms.
  • He's not that pleased with the vampire Demitri Maximoff because at one point he turned him into a female to suck his blood. Terry survived that... But then found out that much to his embarrassment, that event caused him to get stuck in a parallel dimension... with him turned into that female. To say that Terry was embarrassed is an Understatement, and all he hoped is that Geese never learns about this.
  • The mortal Sakurai announced that someone from the SNK universe will get a chance to enter the legendary fight on Nintendo's biggest stage. What followed was a brawl amongst all the fighters involved, ascended and mortal alike, landing several of them in the hospital. While other fighters of his home universe (including Joe Higashi, Geese Howard and Iori Yagami) tried to grab an invitation, Terry was the one that received it. His response? "OKAY!"
    • He's looking forward to a rematch with Ken, this time non-lethally.

It's the first time I'm showing this profile, but I was in a mood to do it in one go, so I think I'm done with it.

Lucca Ashtear, Goddess of Robot-Building Geniuses

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Chrono_Trigger_Lucca_6505.jpg
  • Lesser Goddess
  • Symbol: Her helmet
  • Theme Song: "Fanfare 1"
  • Alignment: Neutral Good
  • Portfolio: Science Hero with hints of Mad Scientist, wields a gun complemented with fire magic, magic as her only strong stats, is given the chance to avoid her mother's crippling accident, becoming a scientist regardless, running an orphanage in adulthood
  • Domains: Time Travel, Science, Robots
  • Allies: Crono, Marle, Frog, Ayla, Magus, Serge, Pantheonic Time Police, Emmett L. Brown, Bulma, Mei Hatsume, Tony Stark, Koushiro "Izzy" Izumi, Miyako "Yolei" Inoue, Baymax, Haro, Labrys, Aigis, Oliver Twist, Anne-Marie
  • Enemies: Lavos, Lex Luthor, Victor von Doom
  • Lucca is a genius girl from the year 1000 AD with a deep interest in science and technology, as well as Crono's childhood friend. During the millennium celebrations, Lucca was eager to show Crono the teleporter she and her father had been working on. However the machine activated a time portal that sucked in Crono's new friend Marle. Lucca invented the Gate Key, which stabilizes the time portals to allow for safe time travel. This allowed Crono and Lucca to bring Marle back to their time, and also led to them discovering the grisly fate that would befall Earth 1000 years later. The friends then went on a quest through time to stop the alien abomination Lavos from destroying their planet.
  • Entered the Pantheon in the aftermath of Crono's ascension that resulted in all his remaining friends getting tapped for godhood. She gave Crono a little bit of grief over being one of the last to ascend even though they're childhood friends, but she got over it quickly. More importantly she thought it was terrible that Lavos, who they struggled so hard to defeat, had been allowed to live on in this place. Since erradicating it forever isn't an option in the Pantheon, she's fully behind her companions in making sure Lavos doesn't take advantage of his position to feed on other worlds until their destruction. Most important of all, she got straight to work in tuning up Gato; the poor metal lug must've been badly beat up, spending all that time in the Millennial Fair at Crono's temple without her around to supervise.
  • Crono and the rest were quick to introduce her to Son Goku and his gang, with whom they have very close ties, almost like they're cousins or something. Lucca developed a particularly close bond with Bulma since they're both brilliant inventors who were deeply involved with science and technology from a young age. They often work together to support each other and give each other tips if one of them is in a creative slump. And of course Lucca became familiar with Bulma's son Trunks, an active member of the Pantheonic Time Police and therefore someone the whole Crono gang often crosses paths with. Lucca couldn't help but think that he was like a moodier version of Crono, and how that made him sort of attractive... too bad for her that he's (probably) taken.
  • The Gate Key is arguably her greatest accomplishment as an inventor; without it, Crono and friends' chances of saving the world from Lavos would have been much lower if not nonexistent. No scientist is more fascinated by the workings of the Gate Key than famed time machine inventor Dr. Emmett Brown, especially after learning that tech developments in her world are all over the place. Lucca stresses that the Gate Key isn't what causes time travel, it just allows for safe travel. She thinks Emmett has accomplished more than her by actually building something that does allow for time travel, even if it still falls behind the Epoch.
  • When she was little, she actually hated science because her father Taban was constantly working on his inventions and rarely spent time with her. Then one day her mother Lara got into an accident with one of Taban's machines and lost the use of her legs. Lucca saw this and thought that if only she knew more about machines, she could have avoided the accident. From that day on Lucca devoted herself to science. Then in her adventures with Crono she found a Gate that took her back to the time of the accident, and she managed to avoid it (fortunately this didn't translate into Lucca retroactively losing interest in her area of expertise). Either way, seeing her mother's pain resulted in Lucca really not liking any deities who use science on purpose to hurt people. Super-villains like Lex Luthor and Dr. Doom are on the top of that particular shit-list.
  • When she isn't on the clock watching over Lavos, she spends most of her time at the Houses of Science and Technology, where she is very welcome, doing research and working on her latest inventions. She likes to show off her creations at the Millennial Fair, but unfortunately for her, visiting deities are less than willing to try them out given Lucca's inventions have a bit of a reputation for going haywire. So she ends up using her friends to demonstrate (read: serve as guinea pigs) her gadgets, with Crono and Ayla being used more often due to being pretty durable.
    • In her work she's had chances to meet like-minded individuals such as Mei Hatsume, another inventor who's extremely proud of her gadgets and is always up for showing them off, even though disaster always seems to follow. Lucca was so touched by Mei's care for her "babies" and her determination that she promised Mei could display them in the Millennial Fair anytime she wanted (she didn't find it necessary to ask for Crono's opinion even though it's his temple).
    • Through Mei, Lucca heard of Tony Stark and how he built an entire powered suit from scratch that could turn him into a superhero in his own right. Lucca thinks that is just amazing and now dreams of building a similar suit with her own hands. Hell, she'd like to build such suits for the whole team, no matter how long it'd take. Tony thinks Lucca has potential and a lot of clout, and so helps her out by funding her research.
    • Her constant presence at the Houses of Science and Technology also led to her befriending the Digidestined Koushiro and Miyako, who also regularly frequent those Houses due to their interests in computing. They're glad to find fellow tech-heads in each other, considering their teammates don't really share the same interests. Koushiro sometimes cracks jokes about how Lucca and Miyako must be sisters, considering they don't just share the same interests, they also look and act a lot like each other.
    • Has a lot of empathy for robots, and as a result always pitches in when it happens that such deities break down. She's really very fond of Baymax due to him being a medical robot built expressly to help people (the whole thing with her mother has something to do with this, certainly), besides the fact that he's just a cutie (though when he goes into battle mode she thinks it's way cool as well); she likes Haro for similar reasons even though it's a much simpler machine with fewer useful purposes, and enjoys having it tag along with her during her activities in the Houses. She's also fascinated by robots like Aigis and Labrys who've managed to develop personalities as human as they look, which reminds her a lot of Robo.
  • Some years after the end of her adventures Lucca turned her house into an orphanage; it was there that Serge's friend Kid was raised. Lucca presumably funded the orphanage through the profits of her scientific endeavors. Either way the House of Family commends her for her altruism in providing a home for disenfranchised children. Lucca really sympathizes with orphans like Oliver Twist and Anne-Marie who were pratically homeless at certain points in their lives. Lucca's temple is open to them and any other kids going through hard times.

The Monkeys, Gods and Goddesses of Overkill

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/slider___btd6m.png
  • Potential House: Combat
  • Rank: Ambiguous
  • Symbol: The Super Monkey’s emblem, or bananas
  • Alignment: Chaotic Good
  • Portfolio: Extreme Overkill, Everythings Better With Monkeys, Super-Intelligence, coming in a variety of non realistic colors, games that don’t really have a plot, Skill Tree, Loads And Loads Of Characters, Acid Attack, Wave-Motion Gun, Physical Gods, Nuke 'em, Playing with Fire, only having two females (well, there are three, but the last one is in the patch notes), and so much more.
  • Domains: Monkeys, Destruction
  • Herald: Max, Sai, Captain Classie, Sam, C4 Charlie
  • Allies:
  • Enemies: Bounce Man, the House of Celebration, Frieza, Pokémon hunter J, the House of Water and Moisture (Gwen)
  • Terrifies: The houses of Ice and Cold and Plants (Gwen), Emmet
  • Before the rise of man brought the great rivalry between Pirate and Ninja, there was another natural feud between two animal species: Monkeys... and B[al]loons. No one knows how or why this epic war began, but both sides fight endlessly with ever greater wartime developments vying for domination of the world. All of the preceding is included absolutely nowhere in the game's design, and is merely a flavorful fantasy explaining why players seem to care so much about using monkeys to pop balloons.

  • A normal day in the pantheon was interrupted when a portal appeared in the sky and a bunch of balloons came out of it. They did little more than annoying most of the people near the portal and then a bunch of monkeys popped out of the portal and started mercilessly killing them with a ton of weapons. It was quite a scene.

    • After the very few surviving balloons fled, one monkey in a tank said that he and his teammates have been fighting Bloons for years. Their brutality against the Bloons earned them a place in the Combat house for Overkill on the spot.

  • Once the temple for them was made, the monkey engineers swiftly got to work, building a monkey paradise, with plenty of places to make new weapons if need be.

  • Because of his round, balloon-like shape, Bounce Man quickly got attacked by these balloon popping monkeys (The fact that they share a sub house doesn’t help). Bounce Man quickly went to the Main House to kick them out. The results of this remain hidden to the public, but most assume he failed to do so. They also hate the house of celebration, because of... do we need to spell it out for you? Either way, they got banned multiple times, but every time they manage to sneak back in.

  • Most monkeys have hung out their temple from time to time; some good, some bad, but they liked the company. This, of course, led Spike to their temple wanting to know why there were so many monkeys in one place, suspecting they were up to no good. Gwen told him not to worry, and said that he could call on their help anytime.

  • When they first arrived, a lot of people who don’t know them thought that they were infected by the simian flu because they they came just after the first ever successful raid of it by the Murkrow. When they realized that they meant trouble, most of the monkeys sacrificed themselves to form the avatar of the vengeful monkey, who quickly incinerated the thieves... and a small chunk of the Main House. When they turned back to normal and the simian flu was put back in its place, they got rewarded handsomely... with parts to reconstruct the part of the Main House they destroyed. They reconstructed it flawlessly, impressing the house of Pantheon/Craft, especially Emmet. Despite this, he is still terrified of them because of their violence.

  • They made a quick enemy with Freiza, due to his hatred for “filthy monkeys”. They decided to do an Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny Between him and Avatar of the Vengeful Monkey. Mettaton, overhearing this decided to film this and broadcast it throughout the pantheon. Interestingly, the monkeys got more popular as a result of this. Unfortunately, this caused the Pokémon hunter J to put a bounty on their head....

  • Exclusive to Quincy:

  • Exclusive to Gwen:
    • Unsurprisingly, her first stop was the sub-house of Fire and Heat, where she quickly made a name of herself due to her popularity in her home game. She is apparently making club in secret here: the secret house of the elementals, where one low ranking member of each sub-house come to her clubhouse to pull pranks on people.

    • Regarding other houses, her Kill It with Fire motto keeps her away from the Plants house and Ice and Cold sub-house, she still wants one to be in her club, but she does not know who. She is annoyed by the Water and Moisture sub-house because they can put out her fires, but you know what they say: “With enough fuel and air everything burns!’’.

    • One incident was when she snuck onboard Moltres and tried (badly) to control it. The end result? The entirety of the Plants house being set on fire. Despite this Moltres still likes her and takes her flying every once and a while, as long as it doesn’t cost the house of Plants.

    • Calling herhotwill get you melted into a gooey pulp. Also, she is not interested in Quincy, regardless of what others say.

  • Exclusive to Striker Jones:
    • Being a military general, he was more than impressed with the fact that the pantheon has a War house, trying to get into it at least as a temporary member, he got accepted, so he often visits.

    • He also travels to the Gaming house every once and awhile. The worms are his primary target when he’s there and he loves to talk to them to see what’s new in their tech.

    • He gets along with most people who shoot things like the Inklings, the aforementioned worms and more, he often tries to get them to fight the Bloons with little success.

  • Exclusive to Obyn:
    • He often stops by the house of Plants, being a spirit of the forest after all. He talks to them about improving the house to its fullest potential. The leaders declined, but he keeps trying.

    • He also goes to the house of Ambiguity, due to his mysterious nature, he struts about, and he talks to the deities to learn the latest gossip. The house of Beast is another common stop due to his Attack Animal, though he doesn’t stay long.

  • Exclusive to Churchill:
    • He, like Jones, likes going around to the house of War and training there, but he is more respected than Jones due to his Tank and sharper military intellect, as in, able to make better decisions. Despite this, they are still good friends.

    • Being a secret fan of anime, he has a wide amount of knowledge about it, and he often talks to people from anime to learn more (he still hate Frieza, though).

  • Exclusive to Benjamin:
    • Him being a bank hacker he stays alone most of the time, only coming out to play or be the house of music’s DJ as his alter ego DJ Benjammin’.

    • A lot of people think that he is nothing but trouble, but he hacks for a good cause: getting extra money. This doesn’t stop someone like Roboking from getting worried about getting hacked. Ben simply told him to calm down and he couldn’t hack him even if he tried, and they are friends now... at least sort of.

    • Being named after slang for the $100 US dollar bill, Benjamin, he and the real Benjamin are good friends, but almost never see each other due to them doing their own thing.

  • Exclusive to Elizi:
    • Nothing much is known about her, other than she is a witch doctor who spends most of her days sacrificing various things. The house of Life And Death welcome her to stop by anytime, she never got the memo, but she still considers them her friends.
    • Oddly, she loves small cats and wants more in the pantheon. It’s kind of heartwarming in a way to see how she takes care of them, with the pay of bloon deaths, that is. Oddly despite his combat prowess, she doesn’t Incineroar, as she thinks that he is a shallow Attention Whore.

  • Exclusive to Pat Fusty:
    • Not Being called “The big monkey” for nothing, he oftentimes is fighting big opponents in the combat house using his punches, his slaps, and his hugs. Him and his opponents often tie, with better understanding of each other.
    • Due to sounding similar, him and Patrick Star are often swimming with him an grabbing a bite with him. He is also a good friend to Spongebob for this reason.

I also have some other ideas: Henry Stickmin, god of Failing Epically mainly due to the fact that a lot of choices this character make can fail in the most spectacular way possible hi lights include: taking down an airship he was on with a magnet, warping himself into outer space, Accidentally killing his partner, Ellie, while trying to 360 no-scope a guard, attempting to do a falcon kick and incinerating himself, and missing a guard who was only a few feet away from him.

Henry's already here, though his profile is a little on the shorter side... and honestly I think Epic Fail works for him better, especially considering his current trope isn't really relevant to him as a character, or for his series in general, it's just an art style.

But who shall take Stick Figure Animation in Henry's place? Xiao Xiao isn't exactly known for its plot and characterization. Stickin' Around, a mainstream example, might be a close second.

On a different note, is there a trope that pertains to someone's inability to resolve small problems that become not-so-small later on?
