Trope Pantheons Discussion

Go To

Welcome to the Trope Pantheons thread! Please read the rules:

    Rules
Rules. The following are not suggestions or tips, but things that have to be followed:
  • When writing a profile, take note of the following:
    • The very first thing any contributor should do before working on an idea or a profile is to propose and nominate the idea on the Trope Pantheons discussion thread. In the forums, you must discuss with other users on adding ideas and seek their approval with sound reasoning, a paragraph of reasoning to justify taking a trope should be sufficient. This is done to see if your proposal is the best representative and so, in case your profile is turned down, you do not waste time writing something that others might not find suitable. You can also get some assistance in the forum thread by either asking for help and those interested asking if they can help. Attempting to work on ideas without a nomination and at least one net thumbs-up will not be accepted regardless of how much you have written already. Submissions that are added without discussion are likely to be deleted and those who violate those rules by adding Pantheon content without discussion will get reported to the mods.
    • If you feel the need to remove a character for some reason (poor quality, outdated titles, etcetera) and replace him/her with another or outright rework, please see what the other tropers think about this in the discussion thread before doing anything hasty. For reworks in particular, nominate the idea as you would with new characters or profiles. Use good reasoning to see if your idea can easily replace the character present without drawing out your statement or giving too ambiguous claims most do not understand.
      • In the same vein, if you adopt a profile from another troper, it is recommended that you make an announcement that you have done so on the discussion thread. More often than not, a trope that was reserved for something was given away to someone else. Check the Related tab on the top of a page to see if a trope or character has been reserved by a user, either in the Pantheon or the Sandbox sections.
    • If, for whatever reason, you are writing about a God who just happens to be a person in real life, just try to be very careful about what you decide to say. Do not try to make the editing seem too meta (self-referential) and use the creativity to create hypothetical scenarios towards fictional characters. Some real-life individuals, including content creators (fictional content created by them is still fair-game, but do not bring up the creators themselves in such cases), may be considered disqualified for profiles due to controversies that would make them concern the Rule of Cautious Editing Judgment. To determine where a current creator would be disqualified:
      • Wait for at least a month after the latest significant update for a creator's controversy before any decision can be made. If a confirmation from the questioned creator (or associates) themselves occurs, then wait for a week.
      • Immediate disqualification for either a guilty sentence in a significant court case against the creator, or evidence of consistently repeated, deliberate, and/or intentionally provocative hate speech and advocacy of dehumanizing perspectives, with lesser examples warranting caution instead.
      • For creators with a clear persona of their character disclosed before any scandal, the persona can have a profile with no mentioning of their real-life information. Ambiguous existence of a persona would have to be discussed further hand for anything more decisive.
    • For obvious reasons, gods cannot be followers, high priests, or heralds. The 'gods' have ascended meaning there is no need for said character to be a follower of another if they have ascended.
    • No hype profiles, please. 'Hype Profiles' are profiles that have been made out of ongoing events and have not been around for a long time. This creates 'hype' due to popularity and certain elements either through certain scenes, memes, dramatic acting or considered overly awesome. They are not bad tropes but building a portfolio solely for that is a bad idea, as they do not say a thing about representing the trope best (unless it's those trope concepts that they are trying to embody for a long time)
      • You can see one if the profile is only showing off how awesome they are or suddenly pushing how 'significant' they are thanks to the just very recent events rather than respecting the longstanding good representations of the trope. And usually having... minimum portfolio or flavor texts and being a bit too generalized or self-contained to events from within their home series instead of interacting with other Pantheon members.
  • When posting in the forum, take note of the following:
    • When you suggest a God, please explain why they fit the trope. Not everyone is going to understand just "X should be the God of Y because they exemplify the trope" off the bat, especially if they're unfamiliar with the work.
    • You must use the Trope Pantheons discussion thread in the forums if you wish to add a new deity, story, something else of importance to the Trope Pantheon canon, or reworking an existing deity (be it simply improving their existing profile or changing their title).
      • For new and reworked deities, 3 [tup] means the profile will have a one-week waiting period.
      • For new and reworked deities, 4 [tup] is a 3 day waiting period.
      • 5 [tup] is an automatic ascension for new and reworked deities.
      • Speaking of reworks, for anyone that wants to improve such profiles, they have to review the current trope the character(s) has and see if it still holds up or if there is a better rep for their trope.
    • For adding new Treasures to The Great Treasury or new Dominions to the Dominions Expansion, the following rules apply:
      • For new Treasures or Dominions, 3 [tup] is a 3 day waiting period.
      • 4 [tup] is an automatic addition to the Great Treasury or Dominions.
    • Do not repost a profile in the forums more than twice a day if noticeable changes have not been made in between. If a profile is posted a third time in a row without noticeable alterations, it will be downvoted. This is so spamming of no-effort profiles is less frequent and to prevent tropers from getting aggravated seeing the same profile over and over. The minimum acceptable change has to be one flavor text.
    • The Pantheon is not a mouthpiece for you to voice your opinions on certain characters. You may like certain characters more than others, but do not make the mistake of making profiles for characters you like to look like Character Shilling.
    • Every troper new to the Pantheon is barred from approving or downvoting profiles until they have ascended at least two profiles, this means avoiding the usage of "[tup]" or "[tdown]".
    • Do not include fan reception in any profiles. It has nothing to do with the character themselves and will create unnecessary conflict.
    • Write a detailed explanation on why the character is the best candidate for the deity of that trope. If people disagree with you, do not force it on the people.
    • Keep in mind that if you still want to try to find a trope for a particular character, you are only given three chances to find a particular trope for them. If a suggestion goes past three possible tropes, then it will come off as shoehorning a character into the Pantheon just for the sake of that character to be there.
      • On a related note, even if a character does have a free trope being suggested, there is still a limit of three attempts for suggesting that character for that trope. If no one responds to that certain proposal after being posted three times, then it will get to the point where the idea will be seen as being shoehorned into the Pantheon. In addition, the idea needs to be considered acceptable and approved because they are good, not for the sake of pitying others. After all, no one is responding to their idea.
    • You can also adopt a profile or idea to work on from another contributor by messaging a request to them (preferably through private messages). Even if you get their permission, you still have to announce your adoption to the forum. Note that if the idea wasn't nominated in the first place you still have to properly nominate it.
  • When posting Pantheon related stuff to the wiki, take note of the following:
    • Do not put a link to these Pantheon pages into the main wiki page. The moment you want to note in a trope example that the character is a God of this trope, do not do it. If you see leftovers of this practice, correct the situation by deleting the offending text. This goes for any non-Pantheon page. The only exception to this rule is if a page in the Pantheon could be confused for a page in Main, like Good Colors, Evil Colors and Pantheon.Good And Evil Colors.
    • Do not bring things that would incite fights; hot topics and 'urgent' news are not pertinent to the Pantheon's mission. For example, the political scene and some really bad politicians. We are not here to fight each other, so don't suggest things that go in that direction, this is a fictional Pantheon after all.
    • To add a Pantheon page for a certain work, 4 or more characters coming from the same series/franchise should be ascended before adding the page. For Creator specific pages, 4 deities coming from the same creator and 2 individual work pages coming from the same creator is the minimum to warrant a page.
    • Do not create a trope page for a story until the story is fully completed.
    Instructions and Tips
Here are some tips one should keep in mind when editing:
  • When writing a profile for a character, here are a few things to note:
    • Please refer to Text Formatting Rules when writing a profile, since understanding how to make and edit site pages in general is a necessity for working on profiles or other Pantheon content. Additionally, if you are not experienced with English, refer to this forum page, as proper English spelling and grammar is expected.
    • All deities should be sorted by their divine ranking. Put Overdeities on the top of the page and Quasideities on the bottom. Also, be sure to add them in alphabetical order by their first/given name (can be reversed if it is Eastern ordered). For a group, if there is no official name for them all list down all their names by order of relevance or (if too long to list) title them as Insert Name Here Main Characters or some other identifiable title along the same lines.
    • The maximum number of tropes that a god can have is two, but do not try to abuse that fact. If you need to use a second trope to specify a certain thing about their position, that can be excused either because said character represents their trope choice very well alongside the first trope. It is still generally encouraged to only have one trope.
    • A trope can only belong to one profile at a time. The only time two profiles can share a trope is if there are explicit variations listed in the trope page proper (e.g. Muscle Angst is held by both Biscuit Krueger and Chihiro Fujisaki as the former represents "Too Much Muscle" and the latter represents "Not Enough Muscle")
    • If the character you are about to add to a House already exists in another, make sure to mention that this person has spots in another House as well. Up to 2 places can be made for a deity at most.
    • For a character's theme song, try to avoid calling it "Theme of God X" or "Theme of (Show where God X originates from)". If possible, try to find out if the song has an actual name through research. Most importantly, it has to be part of their series' official soundtracks from the media. Do not list songs that are made by fans or outside sources. If they were not specifically used as music for that specific character, then they do not count. Furthermore, it has to be a general theme specifically made for that characters' appearances, not some generic music that plays for many other instances not related to the character in question.
    • For images, when adding an image for your chosen character, it is highly recommended to use a stylized image that embodies the character or renders that also highlight a character's behavior (such as cool poses). Most images should be from the main adaptations of the character unless the images from the other media are of a higher quality than the adaptation. Unless it is needed, do not use fanart for images. If you are, please attribute it to the original artist. Due to the website's dark mode, removing white backgrounds from an image is paramount. This website is suggested to do the background removal. If an image you have takes up too many bytes, it is suggestible to use this site to reduce the byte size. If the byte is still too big, run the compressed image through other sites (or even the same one) to compress even further. Use wikis to look for better images, as even wikis for the series might not contain good official images.
    • Creativity is your friend. While it is not recommended to get too ditzy at your ideas, it is best that when writing a profile for a certain character, do you think of capable scenarios between X and Y. Tip: do not use shallow examples (X wields a sword and Y wields one too) and try to think of relationships that make sense (i.e those characters that are shout-outs for another).
  • Pantheon Content:
    • Some series or genres will eventually have greater representation in the Pantheon than others. This is unavoidable, but a little diversity helps to make you not look like a shill. Try to ensure that if you add a deity from a popular series, make sure that it is because they are a good representative for the trope in question, and not just because they are connected to another deity in their respective canon.
      • As far as deities from actual mythologies, there is generally an expectation to build the profiles off interactions from fictional portrays rather than basing it entirely from the actual myth. Therefore, a mythological deity should be more of a Composite Character whose main identity is from the actual myth.
    • Occasionally there will be Gods that carry a title without a trope. This is not forbidden, but it is well-advised not to abuse them. The only house where trope-less profiles are wholly allowed is the House of Food. Mainly due to most food items lacking tropes, and adding tropes about said foodstuffs is slightly unnecessary. However, the character being ascended for their choice of food, or food-related thing must be a decently good representative of said item. (i.e their Trademark Favorite Food, or something that they are closely associated with In-Universe, or both).
    • For Dominions and Treasures profiles, always consider what made those places/objects popular in the first place. Were they plot-important, identifiable imagery or have a unique aspect of it? Do not just bring regular objects under the basis of following a certain canon.
    • Do not write in self-promotion or blatant advertising. Minor references to something are fine but writing that clearly intends to advertise something will not be given toleration.
  • For Profile Standards:
    • Flavor text is used to describe certain things about a character, place, or object. To avoid short ones, it is recommended to write flavor text with 4-7 sentences that can fill around 2 lines each. Be warned that adding too many sentences does not equal good flavor text as it is not an essay of sorts (unless words are substantial and do add to the overall line).
    • Character Profiles of a certain person should have the following:
      • A portfolio that contains at least 7 (at the minimum) tropes describing their character.
      • Flavor text count for a deity profile should have by minimum, 10 (depending on if the character in question has enough relationships/characterization) to 15 with a maximum of 20-25 for an individual profile.
      • On the other hand, group profiles (profiles of a group that has 4 or more members) have their maximum flavor text count to 15 minimum, giving individual lines for the other members of the group (unless the members are not as characterized) up to 30 at max.
    • Dominion profiles of a certain place should have the following:
      • A portfolio that contains at least 5 (at the minimum) tropes describing the context of the place.
      • Flavor text count should range at least 10 to 15.
    • Treasure profiles (inanimate objects without a trope) should have the following:
      • A portfolio that contains at least 6 (at the minimum) tropes that describes the object itself.
      • Flavor text count should be at least 7 flavor text up to 12 to constitute a treasure profile.
    Divine Ranking System
  • Overdeity: Omnipotent-level Reality Warper deities capable of manipulating the entire universe (or at least the world) at will. Within their own universe they are believed to be omnipotent, or at least impossible-to-completely-destroy embodiments or concepts.
  • Greater Gods: High-level Reality Warper deities that are extremely powerful (capable of destroying or changing anywhere from a large city to a planet at will) and very strong non-reality warpers capable of doing the same thing.
  • Intermediate Gods: Deities at this level are capable of strong but specialized powers such as hydrokinesis, pyrokinesis, etc. without major drawbacks and low-level Reality Warper beings capable of affecting their immediate area at will.
  • Lesser Gods: Capable of highly specific or little power on their own, or suffer from Power at a Price. However, they may be able to ruthlessly exploit their power or combine it with just being badass enough to make up for it.
  • Demigods: Badass Normal citizens of the pantheon, making up for their lower status with strength, strategy, and/or planning.
  • Quasideities: Any otherwise normal human, human equivalent, or below without any special powers or training will fall here.
    Templates
Template for adding a new deity: God X, God/Goddess/Deity of (Insert Trope Here) (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)
  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Rank: This can range from Quasideity, Demigod, Lesser God, Intermediate God, Greater God, to Overdeity, based on the representation of power mentioned above.
  • Symbol: An image or icon used to represent the deity.
  • Theme Song: Official song (in other words, no fan music, regardless of quality) that usually is used in affiliation with the character. If the deity is a musician this will most likely be their Signature Song. If possible, give a link for reference, preferably on either a website like Soundcloud or YouTube.
  • Alignment: Good, evil, neutral, etc. Forget about The Great Character Alignment Debate here; the Pantheon is one of the few places where you can assign Dungeons & Dragons alignments to characters that don't have an alignment system. After all, the Pantheon is based on D&D and is made for fun.
  • For Pokémon deities only:
    • Gender: Defines the gender of the Pokémon; if genderless, it instead defines what gender they identify as.
    • Ability: Provides the Pokémon's ability. If they can Mega Evolve, the new ability is listed as well.
    • Moves: Defines the four moves used by a Pokémon. A Z-Move may also be listed.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the character.
  • Domains: Things that the character has influence over.
  • Herald: Non-ascended loyal character that is from the same series as the ascended character.
  • High Priest: Non-ascended like heralds, but not from the same series, and can serve as a worthy replacement in case the deity would be unavailable, incapacitated, dead, or otherwise incapable of carrying out their duties. They can be served as part-time workers in case the originals are busy with some jobs. Co-Godhood is accepted depending on the approval of the originals, usually if the co-deity is from the same series.
  • Followers: Non-ascended characters that are not part of the Pantheon, but would probably worship this character by the fact that they share the ascended character's trope.
  • Relationships between ascended characters go here with your chosen character, it goes something like this:
    • Allies: Members of the Pantheon that are allies, those that share the same values as them and would theoretically be friends with them.

    • Rivals: Members of the Pantheon that are rivals, people who may look at your character with suspicion or a challenge.
    • Enemies: Members of the Pantheon that are foes, those who would see your chosen character as a threat, either from their perspective or yours.
    • Additional Character Relationships: Members of the Pantheon that do not fit in various relationships (examples include Enemy Mine, Vitriolic Best Buds, Teeth-Clenched Teamwork, Headbutting Heroes, Friendly Enemy, Friendly Rival, Just Friends, etc.), allies, rivals, or enemies.
    • Partner: Defines a partnership with an ascended deity and Mon-type. (if any)
    • Feared by/Fears: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon notably fear or are feared by.
    • Respected by/Respects: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon respect or are respected by.
    • Opposed by/Opposes: Not necessarily the same as "Enemies", but this is used for any deity whom the members of the Pantheon directly oppose or are opposed by (basically the opposite of "Respects", "On Good Terms With", and/or "Commonality Connection") in terms of certain viewpoints, regardless of alignment.
    • Pitied by/Pities: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon feel pity for or are found pitiable by.
    • Conflicting Opinion: Sometimes, the Deities argue over specific themes and philosophies.
      • OPTIONAL NOTE FOR CHARACTER RELATIONSHIPS: Should the list for Character relationships (IE. Allies, Enemies, etc.) become too big, categorize a certain number of characters to a specific group putting them on a sublist (One example: Luigi is from the same world as his brother Mario, hence Luigi should be fall under the Super Mario Bros sublist.)
  • Add the Intro. The intro is made up of two trivia, the Ascension Text (or just the Ascension) and The Bio. Both are necessary, but which order you use for them may vary depending on the profile in question. It may be better for one profile to have The Bio first and the Ascension second or vice-versa, although for the most part, the order is irrelevant:
    • The Ascension Text: This is the story of how the character got into the Pantheon and/or was ascended. There are many ways for this to happen. They may be tricked into it or have simply wandered into the Pantheon, they may have had an already ascended character bring them in, they may already be in the Pantheon (via being another deity's Herald or sharing a trope) and got "promoted", or some combination of the above. Anything is possible in the Pantheon, so use your imagination, but try to incorporate their trope into the story, if possible.
    • The Bio: A brief synopsis of the character's backstory. No need for the character's entire life/production history, but just give enough that those who don't know the character can get an idea of how the character works.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Deities/Characters is 10-15 (15-20 for group profiles) at minimum to 20-25 (30 for group profiles) at maximum.
Template for Dominions profiles: Place X, Place of (Insert Trope Here) (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)
  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Theme Song (Optional): Not important as compared to Deity and Dominion profiles but a notable mention if there is an accompanying song in use with the object.
  • Alignment: Refers to the dominion's role in their story, be it those used by villains or used by the Player Character.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the dominion.
  • Domains: Things that the place has links to.
  • Relationships (Optional): Unless the location has a connection with a specific deity, relationships are optional and may not be required. However, if there are deities linked to the same series as to where the dominion is linked to, note them using the relationships, this includes deities that theoretically have interest with said dominion, good or evil otherwise.
  • Add the Intro. Here the introduction of the Dominion is added with some tidbits regarding the origins of its' creation and usage in the story. You can also add what made it popular/iconic/important here.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Dominions is 10 at minimum to 15 at maximum.
Template for Treasure profiles: The name of the item in here (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)
  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Appearance: A shortened description of the item's looks with some notable features also mentioned.
  • Class: Refer to the Treasure Classification System in the Great Treasury.
  • Alignment: Refers to the objects' role in their story, be it those used by villains or used by the Player Character.
  • Theme Song (Optional): Not important as compared to Deity and Dominion profiles but a notable mention if there is an accompanying song in use with the object.
  • Museum Check: A note that says whether the item is viewable by the public.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the item.
  • Domains: Things that the item has links to.
  • Relationships (Optional): Unless the item has a connection with a specific deity, relationships are optional and may not be required. However, if there are deities linked to the same series as to where the item is linked to (especially the original owner of the item), note them using the relationships, this includes deities that theoretically have interest with said object, good or evil otherwise.
  • Add the Intro. Here the introduction of the Treasure is added with some tidbits regarding the origins of its' creation and usage in the story. You can also add what made it popular/iconic/important here.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Treasures is 7 at minimum to 12 at maximum.

I thought R2 was Chaotic Good. Also, point out the Ho Yay between the two of them and how they're sometimes joked to be gay robots. I feel that as an interpreter, 3PO would be more comfortable in Language. Also, since Anakin created C-3PO that means him and Luke are half-brothers in a weird sort of way

@Time Lord Victorious: I don't get why you have K-9 as their High Priest even though he has little to do with the Big Guy, Little Guy trope.

Hello, my baby. Hello, my honey. Hello, my ragtime gal.

  • Opposes: The House of War
  • Pities: Jon Connington
  • It was a quiet day in the Pantheon when Viridi took notice of the wolf princess San, sitting alone beneath a large tree in the House of Nature looking depressed. The reason for San's gloom became clearer after the two talk for a bit. While there were many gods in the Pantheon that she got along with, the wolf princess was missing someone else. A person from her world. A few days later, Viridi called for San's presence in the House of Royalty. Someone special had arrived. When San arrived she discovered who that someone was, and for a moment she stood in silence. There, standing beside the Goddess of Plants was a young man with a scar on his left cheek and a soft smile on his face. Then the two rushed into each other's arms, holding each other close. That was the day Ashitaka ascended to the Pantheon.
  • Ashitaka was originally the prince of the Emishi people, until one day when his village was attacked by the corrupted boar god, Nago. Though he was able to defeat the beast, Nago left behind a terrible curse that would eventually kill Ashitaka unless he found a cure. After being exiled from his clan, he traveled to the west, eventually coming across a mining settlement called Tataraba/Iron Town, which was in the midst of a war with the gods of the nearby forest. It was in that forest that he met the Princess Mononoke San, and together they managed to bring an end to the conflict between the forest and Tataraba... though it came at a steep price.
  • While the curse placed upon Ashitaka was lifted, in its place is a large scar on the palm of his hand. Many have asked why the Forest Spirit didn't just remove it altogether. The exiled prince simply replies, "It's a reminder. A way of showing what it cost to remove the curse."
  • Due to his skills with the bow and arrow, Ashitaka gets along well with other archers in the Pantheon due to their shared interests. He has even been asked by Green Arrow to be a part of the archery club which includes Robin Hood, Hawkeye, Katniss Everdeen and the Emerald Archer himself. The verdict is still out if Ashitaka will join but he has considered it.
  • Often visits the House of Nature to explore the many environments found within.
  • Much like San, Ashitaka found himself getting along with the Pokémon deities Xerneas and Arceus. The former especially since it reminded him of the Great Forest Spirit's daytime appearance. He shows a great amount of respect to Amaterasu as well and is often seen speaking with her in her human form.
    • Occasionally will watch over Chibiterasu with San while Amaterasu is busy with her own duties.
  • Despite getting along with many in the Pantheon, there are a few gods in the pantheon that Ashitaka distrusts. He strongly dislikes Mr. Burns and Looten Plunder due to wanting to destroy the environment for his own benefit.
    • He is incredibly hostile to both Venom and Carnage, as both symbiotes reminded Ashitaka of the worm tendrils that came out of cursed gods. It also doesn't help that Carnage tried tempting him with the powers of the Symbiot. The prince didn't buy it. Is quite wary of Deoxys as well, due to its arm tentacles and celestial origin.
    • While not as extreme of an opinion as San, Ashitaka still does not tolerate Ghetsis Harmonia. His treatment of his own son N sickens Ashitaka to the core, and it takes all of his concentration and patience not to drive his sword through the Team Plasma leader's heart.
  • Pities Rhaegar Targaryen's herald Jon Connington due to suffering from Greyscale, similar to how Ashitaka once suffered from his own curse.
  • While wandering through the Pantheon one day, Ashitaka had a chance encounter with Dr. Manhattan. They got along well enough, although both found it strange that their voices sounded remarkably similar.

So Jubes gets the Jon Snow treatment and is now alive. I'm convinced. Thanks, Mizerous.

So...the million-dollar question is if she retains Intermediate Goddess, or does she gets dropped a rank?

Also, Ashitaka gets a [tup]. Should make him allies with Talim, since she's the last of her tribe as well.

Emperor Calus, God of Existentialism
  • Potential House: Outlooks on Life
  • Rank: Greater God for his robot duplicates. True rank unknown.
  • Symbol: Cabal Loyalist symbol, a goblet overflowing with wine.
  • Theme Song: The Leviathan
  • Alignment: True Neutral
  • Portfolio: Pilots the Leviathan, a Planet Consuming Ship, Boisterous Bruiser, Wants to live life to the fullest, Well-Intentioned Extremist, Bling of War, Views using children as weapons is deplorable, The Dreaded, Adipose Rex, In Love with Your Carnage, Benevolent God-Emperor, Work Hard, Play Hard, Psychic Power
  • Domains: Hedonism, Existentialism, Opulence, Narcissism, Extravagance, Ruthlessness, Empires, Psionic Power
  • Followers: His Loyalists
  • Allies: The Guardians (judging by his actions), Recette Lemongrass, SCP-2578-D, the Tenno, Corvo Attano, Emily Kaldwin
  • Enemies: The Vex, Oryx, The Eliksni, the Harvesters, Sundowner, Bonedrewd, the Twin Queens and the Grineer Empire, Yaldabaoth, YHVH, Prime Minister Honest, Esdeath, Seryu Ubiquitous, Wild Hunt, those who sully hedonism or follow what he deems as self-destructive paths
  • Respects: The Guardians, The Phantom Thieves of Hearts, Determinators in general
  • Pities: Children made into weapons, the Tenno
  • Conflicting Opinion: Goro Akechi, Heinz Windermere
  • Opposed by: The House of Family, victims of castration like Osiris
  • Hedonist. Narcissist. Those two words perfectly describe Calus, Emperor of the Cabal. He rose to the title after leading a revolution overthrowing the Praetorate, the current leadership at the time, fed up with the injustice and the exploitation of his people. From there, he turn away from the old customs and transform the Cabal into a society of pleasure-seekers and festivities. He believed that as an Emperor, he would be the model of happiness and the ideal lifestyle that his people deserve. He loved his people as they loved him back, and he ruled with little trouble until he was overthrown. A gladiator, of albino skin caught Calus' eye one day and used to bet on him a lot. Time passed, and he decided his talents would be better put to use as a Primus of one of the Legions, believing that they were kindred spirits. That was until he staged a coup to turn his confidants against him, realizing too late the usurper Primus was manipulated by a former Praetorate, the Consul, which lead to his exile.
"They would have killed me, but I was too beloved and too glorious. So they sent me away into resplendent exile upon this Grand Leviathan."
    • Calus wallowed in despair onboard the Leviathan, forced to travel seemingly forever until the ship suddenly stopped. It had stopped within nothingness, leaving Calus to bore witness to a great power. Such an experience rekindled his motivation, prompting Calus to a journey of his own leading to the acceptance that his philosophy was true and we must take back the Empire. He'd take measures to ensure that the Conspirators would die through employing other alien races and while successful for some, they were unable to off all of them. That was, until that same gladiator strangled the Consul for mocking him and he himself would be murdered by the Guardians and the Travler itself. Dominus Ghaul lies dead.
      • Earning his audience, he invited the Guardians on his ship to face him. Accepting, they would brave through the Trials and "fight" Calus within his throne room and win, the Emperor honoring his end of the bargain. Later, he would call them up again to deal with a Vex Planetary Core that had been consumed by his ship leading to it malfunctioning. Just like their other encounters they destroyed it, but were almost consumed by the now operational World Eater had not Calus saved them.
"I won't allow yoour death to be so trivial. Not after you supplanted Ghaul in such decisive fashion. You were magnificent today. You gorge yourself on danger. You embrace death."
  • His ship was spotted in the House of Earth And Metal, devouring whole chunks and giving the nearby denizens one hell of a scare. While the Mediators of Nature, the Nature Preservers are quick to try and defend themselves from the gargantuan ship like that incident with the Grineer, the Guardians quickly stopped them. Recognizing the strange visiting ship they attempted to communicate it and inform of it's presence in the Pantheon. Quick as it came, it set off to the Court of Gods where Calus along with his Loyalists would petition his ascension. The Court originally suggested The Hedonist, but Calus refused stating his idea of decadence carries a more positive light than many examples. He'd instead get Anti-Nihilist, something more fitting to his philosophy.
"It's the small moments, the simple pleasures that matter. They're all I can think about now. Food and drink aren't mere sustenance. They're a reminder that I am alive."
  • It would be really shortsighted to view Calus as just a selfish hedonist. Besides actually showing some acknowledgement and empathy towards his subjects, he's still Cabal. He does what he does to forge a paradise of decadence for all, realizing everyone's time is finite and has no intention of prolonging it. But do not view his luxury as weakness, he still overthrew a government, geld the Consul so he may beget no Heir, and destroy the Sindu fleet for refusing to join him. Those who used to be close by his side are not exempt from his hit-list, not even his own daughternote . He's pretty unpopular by the House of Family as a result, but he stated that had she not also undid the work to turn the Cabal into another elitist society he would of forgiven her. Also unpopular by the House of Nature due to what he's willing to do to fuel his luxuries.
  • Although the real Calus has not been seen (it's very likely he'll look like his robots), the true extent of his power is unknown. There is evidence that suggests he has Psychic Powers like his Psions, only on a much grander scale. He was shown teleporting others from long distances to either help his allies or hinder his enemies through putting them into some dimension, creating a psionic projection of his head to consume his foes. That said, his duplicates are capable of forehead lasers, an Arm Cannon, and surprising durability, giving would-be assassins a difficult time.
  • It's no secret that he's infatuated by the Guardians' (or more specifically the Young Wolf's) resolve in facing whatever they come across. Doesn't matter if it's against reality warping machines or actual deities, they'll still fight until their final death. Those like them have also gotten his attention. The Phantom Thieves of Hearts, for instance, a band of outcasts out to reform their corrupt society whilst being beacons of hope. Even when nearly being erased from existence, they soon picked themselves back up to face Yaldabaoth and win. He plans on making them into his rebuilt Shadows since he wants them to join in on the merriment but refuse for a couple reasons: While Calus presents himself with good intentions, he's still very ruthless when it comes done to it (putting his daughter on his hit-list is one of many that stood out to them, especially Haru) and he's still too mysterious to be trusted, never meeting anyone in person. Calus wasn't pleased with their refusal, but nonetheless hopes they change their mind one day.
"You, too, saved your people from enslavement and tyranny. From that fat leech undeserving of names. I hope you'll be at my side and know that it will be worth facing the end together, oh Phantom mine."
  • His time in the Pantheon has earned him some comparisons to other deities. He does not mind some, but there are those that warrant his attention. There were some comparisons to him and Jabba the Hutt, given their obese appearances. Calus laughed it off stating he's a lowly criminal with a pechant for acting mighty in the worst of times. Yes, Calus refuses servitude to a higher power, but there's a difference between that and being suicidally arrogant.
    • And regarding his position as a Planet Looter, while Calus acknowledges he's in the same light as the Harvesters, they are more closer to the Fallen/Eliksni and Oryx than they are to him. They leave not but destruction in their wake, not too far off from the Taken King and his masters. He at least has the courtesy to invite those outside his race if they prove themselves unlike them, who disregard other's lives completely.
  • Despite reasonably wanting Ghaul dead, he still was sorry for the fact he was raised to be a weapon for the Consul. Before the events of the Red Legion's invasion of the Last City, he even had plans to try and convince him to come back to his side, praising him for all of his attributes. For that reason, he has his sights on the Tenno, seeing them as worthy as the Guardians. He plans on steering away their powers of the Void for his instead, seeing the troubles it had brought them.
    • There was Akechi, who was driven to a dark road thanks to a horrible upbringing. That said, Calus doesn't plan on glossing over his actions and Akechi himself is cautious of the Cabal Emperor. Prolicide hits too close to home, whether or not he did die in Shido's Palace to aid the Phantom Thieves. His opinion on Heinz is similar, albeit a lot more hostile. He is, by all means, not has murderous as any of the races his people have fought against, but what he did surpasses the hedonist's forgiveness. The young king is paranoid of Calus' plans considering his influence on those around him. When asked, Calus stated he shouldn't be concerned what he and the Cabal would do and instead be concerned of his enemies finding out about him. Especially Oryx and his Hive.
    • Those who do equally horrid acts on children quickly get labeled as enemies. Sundowner is a war-loving, psychothic cyborg who encourages the use of Child Soldiers. Bonedrewd is an inhuman individual who butchered children and transformed them into amorphous blobs, in the name of science. The Twin Queens are sadistic witches who drive children to despair and hijack their bodies to stave off their own mortality. But one of the worst has to be Prime Minister Honest, who Calus believes sullied the name of decadence with his existence. To the Cabal Emperor, he is the epitome of what being pathetic is in his eyes, and was glad to know that demise (at least in the manga) was a product of mob justice.
"How small a man must be to seek greatness in the shadow of others. How pitiful the man who raises up a great soul and cowers behind it."
      • Don't get him started on Honest's lackeys, whom he denounces as either as an "aimless and empty siege engine" (Esdeath), "degenerate enforcer of justice" (Seryu), or "fat, parasitic mongrels" (Wild Hunt). He plans on a much worse punishment for all of them, one that weaves around the Pantheon's rules on death.
    • A mention should go out to the Ancestor who, to borrow everyone else's words, ruined everything. Raising the dead, sending off a Hag to the forests, summoning demons in pigs, disposing of a crew and young maiden to the seas, digging up some otherworldy force, it was all a concoction for self destruction, and was appalled to hear it all stemmed from the Ancestor's hedonism and a sip from an actual Bloody Mary. Though he decided to atone for his sins through damage control, Calus is well aware of the Heart of Darkness, and his connection to it.
  • When not on his ship consuming entire chunks of land, Calus could be studying ancient ruins and societies. He can aslo be found drinking with Homer Simpson and Barney Grumble, of all people. Turns out he enjoys their company enough to be drinking buddies. His robotic visage can also be seen parading across the Pantheon, trying to reinforce his support such as buying things himself for example. Calus seems quite fond of Recette's shop out of the others which could be attributed to her attitude and the wide selection of items.
  • Calus went about his day as usual, downing himself in the Royal Wine he had freshly made where he had a dawning realization: His allies are on the short side in comparison to the many enemies he made. So he flew around trying to find any deities whose views aligned with his. The search lead to a peculiar tyrant-hating Kill Sat, who to some deities surprise did not view Calus as one. Seeing it's goals intertwined with his own, the Emperor decided to ally with SCP-2578-D, offering to help further improve its capabilities whilst try and quell its intentions. The SCP accepted, and became Calus' Shadow, the first of the Pantheon. Those corrupt in attitude should watch the skies, and read their emails.
    • He seems to open his arms out to Corvo Attano and his daughter Emily Kaldwin, enjoying the terror they cause to the vile poison aristocrats and other more dubious individuals. Some of Calus' enemies align perfectly with Corvo's, a worthy candidate for his Shadows should he continue. As for Emily, it's obvious she takes after her father with the added bonus of being someone a higher power is willing to protect. Her politics is something that's left to be desired, but Calus is willing to lend his advice here and there.
  • "I say this to you, oh champion mine, and I say it from my heart: there are those who would bargain away their souls just to live a little longer. I am not them. Life must be worth living. Life must be lovely and delicious and enviably sweet! Nothing has ever lived that will not die, so what matters is how we use our time."

Be awed. Or be awestruck. This is the difference between the ordinary and the extraordinary.

Final draft for the Institute.

The Institute, Sacred Seat Of Massive Underground Laboratories

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mapz07_primary10.jpg
The Institute
  • Potential Houses:
  • Theme Song: Theme of the Institute
  • Symbol: The Insignia Of The Institute
  • Alignment: Neutral Evil
  • Motto: Mankind Redefined
  • Portfolio: Believing Their Own Lies, The Big Bad Of The Commonwealth Wasteland, For Science!, The Institute Is Watching, Kidnap, Kill, And Replace, Know-Nothing Know-It-All, Not So Different From The Brotherhood Of Steel
  • Domains: Science, Synthetic Humans (Synths)
  • Sacred To: The Sole Survivor (should they succeed their son, Shaun/The Director), Robert House (when it was called CIT)
  • Opposed By:
    • From The Wasteland: Arthur Maxson, Liberty Prime, The Courier, All Of The Commonwealth, especially Piper Wright and Deacon
    • Others That Oppose The Institute: John Connor, Sarah Connor and Kyle Reese, Alex Murphy/Robocop, Dr. Thomas Light, Dr. Albert Wily (surprisingly), Mega Man, Mega Man X, Zero, the deified Avengers, the deified Justice League, Regime Superman, all cat lovers and cat deities
  • Banned From Entry: The Think Tank, The Joker
  • Fears: The Doomguy
  • One thing about the Sole Survivor is that they are a realist. With the ascension of Elder Arthur Maxson and the reemergence of Nuka-World in the Pantheon, the arrival of the Institute is all but inevitable. Robert House ran the calculations and concurs with the Sole Survivor's claims, citing a 99 percent chance of the Institute coming to the Pantheon.
  • Before the Institute came to be, it was known as the Commonwealth Institute of Technology (Fallout's equivalent of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology). Robert House attended and graduated from the university. Then, the Great War happened. During the 2-hour nuclear war, CIT scientists and personnel survived by hiding in the campus's underground levels. Twenty-three years after the bombs dropped, their descendants formed what would be known as The Institute.
  • The Institute is famous (or rather infamous) for their synthetic humans, Synths for short. The Gen 1s are robotic in appearance while the Gen 2s look like a T-600 with rubber skin. The Gen 3s are the most human-like in appearance. Pristine DNA, not tainted by the Wasteland wad needed to complete the Gen 3s, which is where Shaun came in, his DNA used to finish the Gen 3s...which means that technically, all of the Gen 3 synths are technically the Sole Survivor's descendants. And let's not go into that one romance where you can woo Curie after she gets her synth body...or the booty call with Magnolia.
    • The Pantheon found out about the Gen 3s when they attempted - and failed - to replace some of the gods. One of the synths was in the likeness of Lois Lane Kent's Injustice counterpart. Regime Superman was not amused. Nor was Batman and Catwoman when another synth posed as the Dark Knight. "I've see this before," Bats had mused to his fiancée.
  • The Institute is divided into four divisions:
    • First, is the Synth Retention Bureau, or the SRB for short. This division's main purpose is mainly retrieving escaped Synths and monitoring the Commonwealth. They also dabble in synth wiping and Courser training. Coursers are the Institute's equivalent of Special Forces consisting of Gen 3 Synths. Deacon (one of the Sole Survivor's followers) describes the Courser as "top-of-the-line in Institute 'let's fuck up your day' tech.'" It's also said that if a Institute Courser comes knocking, don't try to fight it, just run.
      • One such Courser was seen lurking around the House of War, hoping to abduct Cassie Cage and Jacqui Briggs. Unfortunately, the Courser had snuck into the temple belonging to the Doomguy, who tore apart the Courser in a fit of rage when it messed with his bobblehead collection. Said parents of said girls were not very happy with what the Institute had planned for their girls either.
    • Next, is the Robotics Division, where of course, the Synths are created, developed and maintained. Seeing the Institute create a Gen 3 Synth is indeed a sight to behold.
      • Both Sektor and SKYNET are intrigued by the robotics technology, and have separately sent in infiltration units inside the Institute to steal their technology. So far, their attempts have ended in failure, due to the Coursers.
    • The BioScience Division's main focus is both the study and creation of bio-mechanical life, not to mention closing the gap between organics and robotics. BioScience also caters to genetics, bio-engineering, medical care, producing crops, pharmaceuticals...and research into the Forced Evolutionary Virus, which explains why there are Super Mutants in the Commonwealth.
      • It's because of the FEV that the Institute has stashed away that both the Think Tank and the Joker are banned from the Institute. While the Think Tank are certifiably insane (and hammy to boot), The Joker is a bigger threat. The Institute knows what the Joker had done to Superman, and even they know that letting the mad clown into their FEV stash is a bad idea.
      • Albert Wesker, Alex Wesker, and Alexia Ashford all put in applications to work in the BioScience Division. Their applications were respectfully declined.
    • Arthur Maxson is familiar with Dr. Madison Li's work on Liberty Prime during the Brotherhood's war with the Enclave, which is why he is surprised do discover that the good doctor is running the Institute's Advanced Systems Division, the R&D section of the Institute. While the energy weapons leave something to be desired, the crowning achievement of Advanced Sciences is the teleportation matrix the Institute uses on a daily basis.
      • Classical Radio's point of origin lies within the Institute, the station and it's music are what the Synths use to teleport out of their hidden base. So while you're enjoying Bach's Suite in E minor, BWV 996, you may be inviting Institute synths for a housecall.
      • In fact, it was Alfred Pennyworth listening to Classical Radio that brought the Institute to Batman's doorstep. Oops.
    • Finally, there's the Facilities Divison, that maintains the upkeep of the Institute, including maintaining the life support, power plant, food, housing, and engineering
  • The Institute find themselves on the shit-list of cat lovers and cat deities (with Catwoman, Black Cat and Felicia leading the charge) due to their synths gunning down a number of cats (alongside several Mr. Handy Robots) at the Sandy Coves Convalescent Home, a retirement home in the Salem area.

Malzahar, God Of Accepting The Foretold Future (The Prophet of The Void)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/malzahar_originalloading_4.jpg
  • Lesser God
  • Symbol: One of his Voidlings
  • Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
  • Portfolio: Humanoid Abomination: Going Insane After Gazing Into The Void, Carrying Out The Void's Will, Prophet of the Cult of The Void, The Minion Master, Power Floats, Gaining His Powers from The Void
  • Domains: Seers, Madness, Fate, Minions
  • Wary About: Exdeath
  • Malzahar was originally a seer born in Shurima, being granted the power of prophecy. However, the power of vision ended up being his undoing, as he was tempted by a voice to seek out the lost kingdom of Icathia, where his mind was filled with the visions of the world being taken over by the creatures of The Void. With most of his sanity gone, the only thing he can cling into is to prepare for that day he foresaw, and fulfil that prophecy.
  • Since he has submitted his will to The Void, it has granted him the power to manipulate the energy from it. One of his notable abilities is the ability to call upon small creatures called Voidlings to assist him in battle. While just one Voidling isn't that powerful and they will die after a while, he can call upon multiple of them at once.
    • Another of his abilities allows him to transfer the visions he has to another to mentally assault them, which can transfer to anyone near them if they were to die. However, to an outsider's respective the effect is bit strange, so most people opt to call it space AIDS.
  • Even in the mortal realm, he started a cult called The Cult of The Void, a kind of Apocalypse Cult. While specifics of his cult activities are unknown, he does reform human sacrifices to The Void, with his dagger being more of a ceremonial dagger than anything else.
  • Is sort of wary about Exdeath and the nature of his Void. Mainly because he is not sure if his prophecies and the true nature of The Void are wrong, or if Exdeath is the one in the wrong. He does say that trying to control The Void is not a good idea.
  • One day when looking around the Pantheon, he encountered a temple with a particular marking which resembles the mark of The Void. On it he saw a prophecy that it would be connected to The Void and started preparing for the day something would happen. In truth, he merely stumbled upon the temple of Hastur, who sort of wants to see what he will do with his assumptions.
  • "The land may melt, the sea may swell, the sky may fall... but they will come."
