Trope Pantheons Discussion

Go To

Welcome to the Trope Pantheons thread! Please read the rules:

    Rules
Rules. The following are not suggestions or tips, but things that have to be followed:
  • When writing a profile, take note of the following:
    • The very first thing any contributor should do before working on an idea or a profile is to propose and nominate the idea on the Trope Pantheons discussion thread. In the forums, you must discuss with other users on adding ideas and seek their approval with sound reasoning, a paragraph of reasoning to justify taking a trope should be sufficient. This is done to see if your proposal is the best representative and so, in case your profile is turned down, you do not waste time writing something that others might not find suitable. You can also get some assistance in the forum thread by either asking for help and those interested asking if they can help. Attempting to work on ideas without a nomination and at least one net thumbs-up will not be accepted regardless of how much you have written already. Submissions that are added without discussion are likely to be deleted and those who violate those rules by adding Pantheon content without discussion will get reported to the mods.
    • If you feel the need to remove a character for some reason (poor quality, outdated titles, etcetera) and replace him/her with another or outright rework, please see what the other tropers think about this in the discussion thread before doing anything hasty. For reworks in particular, nominate the idea as you would with new characters or profiles. Use good reasoning to see if your idea can easily replace the character present without drawing out your statement or giving too ambiguous claims most do not understand.
      • In the same vein, if you adopt a profile from another troper, it is recommended that you make an announcement that you have done so on the discussion thread. More often than not, a trope that was reserved for something was given away to someone else. Check the Related tab on the top of a page to see if a trope or character has been reserved by a user, either in the Pantheon or the Sandbox sections.
    • If, for whatever reason, you are writing about a God who just happens to be a person in real life, just try to be very careful about what you decide to say. Do not try to make the editing seem too meta (self-referential) and use the creativity to create hypothetical scenarios towards fictional characters. Some real-life individuals, including content creators (fictional content created by them is still fair-game, but do not bring up the creators themselves in such cases), may be considered disqualified for profiles due to controversies that would make them concern the Rule of Cautious Editing Judgment. To determine where a current creator would be disqualified:
      • Wait for at least a month after the latest significant update for a creator's controversy before any decision can be made. If a confirmation from the questioned creator (or associates) themselves occurs, then wait for a week.
      • Immediate disqualification for either a guilty sentence in a significant court case against the creator, or evidence of consistently repeated, deliberate, and/or intentionally provocative hate speech and advocacy of dehumanizing perspectives, with lesser examples warranting caution instead.
      • For creators with a clear persona of their character disclosed before any scandal, the persona can have a profile with no mentioning of their real-life information. Ambiguous existence of a persona would have to be discussed further hand for anything more decisive.
    • For obvious reasons, gods cannot be followers, high priests, or heralds. The 'gods' have ascended meaning there is no need for said character to be a follower of another if they have ascended.
    • No hype profiles, please. 'Hype Profiles' are profiles that have been made out of ongoing events and have not been around for a long time. This creates 'hype' due to popularity and certain elements either through certain scenes, memes, dramatic acting or considered overly awesome. They are not bad tropes but building a portfolio solely for that is a bad idea, as they do not say a thing about representing the trope best (unless it's those trope concepts that they are trying to embody for a long time)
      • You can see one if the profile is only showing off how awesome they are or suddenly pushing how 'significant' they are thanks to the just very recent events rather than respecting the longstanding good representations of the trope. And usually having... minimum portfolio or flavor texts and being a bit too generalized or self-contained to events from within their home series instead of interacting with other Pantheon members.
  • When posting in the forum, take note of the following:
    • When you suggest a God, please explain why they fit the trope. Not everyone is going to understand just "X should be the God of Y because they exemplify the trope" off the bat, especially if they're unfamiliar with the work.
    • You must use the Trope Pantheons discussion thread in the forums if you wish to add a new deity, story, something else of importance to the Trope Pantheon canon, or reworking an existing deity (be it simply improving their existing profile or changing their title).
      • For new and reworked deities, 3 [tup] means the profile will have a one-week waiting period.
      • For new and reworked deities, 4 [tup] is a 3 day waiting period.
      • 5 [tup] is an automatic ascension for new and reworked deities.
      • Speaking of reworks, for anyone that wants to improve such profiles, they have to review the current trope the character(s) has and see if it still holds up or if there is a better rep for their trope.
    • For adding new Treasures to The Great Treasury or new Dominions to the Dominions Expansion, the following rules apply:
      • For new Treasures or Dominions, 3 [tup] is a 3 day waiting period.
      • 4 [tup] is an automatic addition to the Great Treasury or Dominions.
    • Do not repost a profile in the forums more than twice a day if noticeable changes have not been made in between. If a profile is posted a third time in a row without noticeable alterations, it will be downvoted. This is so spamming of no-effort profiles is less frequent and to prevent tropers from getting aggravated seeing the same profile over and over. The minimum acceptable change has to be one flavor text.
    • The Pantheon is not a mouthpiece for you to voice your opinions on certain characters. You may like certain characters more than others, but do not make the mistake of making profiles for characters you like to look like Character Shilling.
    • Every troper new to the Pantheon is barred from approving or downvoting profiles until they have ascended at least two profiles, this means avoiding the usage of "[tup]" or "[tdown]".
    • Do not include fan reception in any profiles. It has nothing to do with the character themselves and will create unnecessary conflict.
    • Write a detailed explanation on why the character is the best candidate for the deity of that trope. If people disagree with you, do not force it on the people.
    • Keep in mind that if you still want to try to find a trope for a particular character, you are only given three chances to find a particular trope for them. If a suggestion goes past three possible tropes, then it will come off as shoehorning a character into the Pantheon just for the sake of that character to be there.
      • On a related note, even if a character does have a free trope being suggested, there is still a limit of three attempts for suggesting that character for that trope. If no one responds to that certain proposal after being posted three times, then it will get to the point where the idea will be seen as being shoehorned into the Pantheon. In addition, the idea needs to be considered acceptable and approved because they are good, not for the sake of pitying others. After all, no one is responding to their idea.
    • You can also adopt a profile or idea to work on from another contributor by messaging a request to them (preferably through private messages). Even if you get their permission, you still have to announce your adoption to the forum. Note that if the idea wasn't nominated in the first place you still have to properly nominate it.
  • When posting Pantheon related stuff to the wiki, take note of the following:
    • Do not put a link to these Pantheon pages into the main wiki page. The moment you want to note in a trope example that the character is a God of this trope, do not do it. If you see leftovers of this practice, correct the situation by deleting the offending text. This goes for any non-Pantheon page. The only exception to this rule is if a page in the Pantheon could be confused for a page in Main, like Good Colors, Evil Colors and Pantheon.Good And Evil Colors.
    • Do not bring things that would incite fights; hot topics and 'urgent' news are not pertinent to the Pantheon's mission. For example, the political scene and some really bad politicians. We are not here to fight each other, so don't suggest things that go in that direction, this is a fictional Pantheon after all.
    • To add a Pantheon page for a certain work, 4 or more characters coming from the same series/franchise should be ascended before adding the page. For Creator specific pages, 4 deities coming from the same creator and 2 individual work pages coming from the same creator is the minimum to warrant a page.
    • Do not create a trope page for a story until the story is fully completed.
    Instructions and Tips
Here are some tips one should keep in mind when editing:
  • When writing a profile for a character, here are a few things to note:
    • Please refer to Text Formatting Rules when writing a profile, since understanding how to make and edit site pages in general is a necessity for working on profiles or other Pantheon content. Additionally, if you are not experienced with English, refer to this forum page, as proper English spelling and grammar is expected.
    • All deities should be sorted by their divine ranking. Put Overdeities on the top of the page and Quasideities on the bottom. Also, be sure to add them in alphabetical order by their first/given name (can be reversed if it is Eastern ordered). For a group, if there is no official name for them all list down all their names by order of relevance or (if too long to list) title them as Insert Name Here Main Characters or some other identifiable title along the same lines.
    • The maximum number of tropes that a god can have is two, but do not try to abuse that fact. If you need to use a second trope to specify a certain thing about their position, that can be excused either because said character represents their trope choice very well alongside the first trope. It is still generally encouraged to only have one trope.
    • A trope can only belong to one profile at a time. The only time two profiles can share a trope is if there are explicit variations listed in the trope page proper (e.g. Muscle Angst is held by both Biscuit Krueger and Chihiro Fujisaki as the former represents "Too Much Muscle" and the latter represents "Not Enough Muscle")
    • If the character you are about to add to a House already exists in another, make sure to mention that this person has spots in another House as well. Up to 2 places can be made for a deity at most.
    • For a character's theme song, try to avoid calling it "Theme of God X" or "Theme of (Show where God X originates from)". If possible, try to find out if the song has an actual name through research. Most importantly, it has to be part of their series' official soundtracks from the media. Do not list songs that are made by fans or outside sources. If they were not specifically used as music for that specific character, then they do not count. Furthermore, it has to be a general theme specifically made for that characters' appearances, not some generic music that plays for many other instances not related to the character in question.
    • For images, when adding an image for your chosen character, it is highly recommended to use a stylized image that embodies the character or renders that also highlight a character's behavior (such as cool poses). Most images should be from the main adaptations of the character unless the images from the other media are of a higher quality than the adaptation. Unless it is needed, do not use fanart for images. If you are, please attribute it to the original artist. Due to the website's dark mode, removing white backgrounds from an image is paramount. This website is suggested to do the background removal. If an image you have takes up too many bytes, it is suggestible to use this site to reduce the byte size. If the byte is still too big, run the compressed image through other sites (or even the same one) to compress even further. Use wikis to look for better images, as even wikis for the series might not contain good official images.
    • Creativity is your friend. While it is not recommended to get too ditzy at your ideas, it is best that when writing a profile for a certain character, do you think of capable scenarios between X and Y. Tip: do not use shallow examples (X wields a sword and Y wields one too) and try to think of relationships that make sense (i.e those characters that are shout-outs for another).
  • Pantheon Content:
    • Some series or genres will eventually have greater representation in the Pantheon than others. This is unavoidable, but a little diversity helps to make you not look like a shill. Try to ensure that if you add a deity from a popular series, make sure that it is because they are a good representative for the trope in question, and not just because they are connected to another deity in their respective canon.
      • As far as deities from actual mythologies, there is generally an expectation to build the profiles off interactions from fictional portrays rather than basing it entirely from the actual myth. Therefore, a mythological deity should be more of a Composite Character whose main identity is from the actual myth.
    • Occasionally there will be Gods that carry a title without a trope. This is not forbidden, but it is well-advised not to abuse them. The only house where trope-less profiles are wholly allowed is the House of Food. Mainly due to most food items lacking tropes, and adding tropes about said foodstuffs is slightly unnecessary. However, the character being ascended for their choice of food, or food-related thing must be a decently good representative of said item. (i.e their Trademark Favorite Food, or something that they are closely associated with In-Universe, or both).
    • For Dominions and Treasures profiles, always consider what made those places/objects popular in the first place. Were they plot-important, identifiable imagery or have a unique aspect of it? Do not just bring regular objects under the basis of following a certain canon.
    • Do not write in self-promotion or blatant advertising. Minor references to something are fine but writing that clearly intends to advertise something will not be given toleration.
  • For Profile Standards:
    • Flavor text is used to describe certain things about a character, place, or object. To avoid short ones, it is recommended to write flavor text with 4-7 sentences that can fill around 2 lines each. Be warned that adding too many sentences does not equal good flavor text as it is not an essay of sorts (unless words are substantial and do add to the overall line).
    • Character Profiles of a certain person should have the following:
      • A portfolio that contains at least 7 (at the minimum) tropes describing their character.
      • Flavor text count for a deity profile should have by minimum, 10 (depending on if the character in question has enough relationships/characterization) to 15 with a maximum of 20-25 for an individual profile.
      • On the other hand, group profiles (profiles of a group that has 4 or more members) have their maximum flavor text count to 15 minimum, giving individual lines for the other members of the group (unless the members are not as characterized) up to 30 at max.
    • Dominion profiles of a certain place should have the following:
      • A portfolio that contains at least 5 (at the minimum) tropes describing the context of the place.
      • Flavor text count should range at least 10 to 15.
    • Treasure profiles (inanimate objects without a trope) should have the following:
      • A portfolio that contains at least 6 (at the minimum) tropes that describes the object itself.
      • Flavor text count should be at least 7 flavor text up to 12 to constitute a treasure profile.
    Divine Ranking System
  • Overdeity: Omnipotent-level Reality Warper deities capable of manipulating the entire universe (or at least the world) at will. Within their own universe they are believed to be omnipotent, or at least impossible-to-completely-destroy embodiments or concepts.
  • Greater Gods: High-level Reality Warper deities that are extremely powerful (capable of destroying or changing anywhere from a large city to a planet at will) and very strong non-reality warpers capable of doing the same thing.
  • Intermediate Gods: Deities at this level are capable of strong but specialized powers such as hydrokinesis, pyrokinesis, etc. without major drawbacks and low-level Reality Warper beings capable of affecting their immediate area at will.
  • Lesser Gods: Capable of highly specific or little power on their own, or suffer from Power at a Price. However, they may be able to ruthlessly exploit their power or combine it with just being badass enough to make up for it.
  • Demigods: Badass Normal citizens of the pantheon, making up for their lower status with strength, strategy, and/or planning.
  • Quasideities: Any otherwise normal human, human equivalent, or below without any special powers or training will fall here.
    Templates
Template for adding a new deity: God X, God/Goddess/Deity of (Insert Trope Here) (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)
  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Rank: This can range from Quasideity, Demigod, Lesser God, Intermediate God, Greater God, to Overdeity, based on the representation of power mentioned above.
  • Symbol: An image or icon used to represent the deity.
  • Theme Song: Official song (in other words, no fan music, regardless of quality) that usually is used in affiliation with the character. If the deity is a musician this will most likely be their Signature Song. If possible, give a link for reference, preferably on either a website like Soundcloud or YouTube.
  • Alignment: Good, evil, neutral, etc. Forget about The Great Character Alignment Debate here; the Pantheon is one of the few places where you can assign Dungeons & Dragons alignments to characters that don't have an alignment system. After all, the Pantheon is based on D&D and is made for fun.
  • For Pokémon deities only:
    • Gender: Defines the gender of the Pokémon; if genderless, it instead defines what gender they identify as.
    • Ability: Provides the Pokémon's ability. If they can Mega Evolve, the new ability is listed as well.
    • Moves: Defines the four moves used by a Pokémon. A Z-Move may also be listed.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the character.
  • Domains: Things that the character has influence over.
  • Herald: Non-ascended loyal character that is from the same series as the ascended character.
  • High Priest: Non-ascended like heralds, but not from the same series, and can serve as a worthy replacement in case the deity would be unavailable, incapacitated, dead, or otherwise incapable of carrying out their duties. They can be served as part-time workers in case the originals are busy with some jobs. Co-Godhood is accepted depending on the approval of the originals, usually if the co-deity is from the same series.
  • Followers: Non-ascended characters that are not part of the Pantheon, but would probably worship this character by the fact that they share the ascended character's trope.
  • Relationships between ascended characters go here with your chosen character, it goes something like this:
    • Allies: Members of the Pantheon that are allies, those that share the same values as them and would theoretically be friends with them.

    • Rivals: Members of the Pantheon that are rivals, people who may look at your character with suspicion or a challenge.
    • Enemies: Members of the Pantheon that are foes, those who would see your chosen character as a threat, either from their perspective or yours.
    • Additional Character Relationships: Members of the Pantheon that do not fit in various relationships (examples include Enemy Mine, Vitriolic Best Buds, Teeth-Clenched Teamwork, Headbutting Heroes, Friendly Enemy, Friendly Rival, Just Friends, etc.), allies, rivals, or enemies.
    • Partner: Defines a partnership with an ascended deity and Mon-type. (if any)
    • Feared by/Fears: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon notably fear or are feared by.
    • Respected by/Respects: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon respect or are respected by.
    • Opposed by/Opposes: Not necessarily the same as "Enemies", but this is used for any deity whom the members of the Pantheon directly oppose or are opposed by (basically the opposite of "Respects", "On Good Terms With", and/or "Commonality Connection") in terms of certain viewpoints, regardless of alignment.
    • Pitied by/Pities: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon feel pity for or are found pitiable by.
    • Conflicting Opinion: Sometimes, the Deities argue over specific themes and philosophies.
      • OPTIONAL NOTE FOR CHARACTER RELATIONSHIPS: Should the list for Character relationships (IE. Allies, Enemies, etc.) become too big, categorize a certain number of characters to a specific group putting them on a sublist (One example: Luigi is from the same world as his brother Mario, hence Luigi should be fall under the Super Mario Bros sublist.)
  • Add the Intro. The intro is made up of two trivia, the Ascension Text (or just the Ascension) and The Bio. Both are necessary, but which order you use for them may vary depending on the profile in question. It may be better for one profile to have The Bio first and the Ascension second or vice-versa, although for the most part, the order is irrelevant:
    • The Ascension Text: This is the story of how the character got into the Pantheon and/or was ascended. There are many ways for this to happen. They may be tricked into it or have simply wandered into the Pantheon, they may have had an already ascended character bring them in, they may already be in the Pantheon (via being another deity's Herald or sharing a trope) and got "promoted", or some combination of the above. Anything is possible in the Pantheon, so use your imagination, but try to incorporate their trope into the story, if possible.
    • The Bio: A brief synopsis of the character's backstory. No need for the character's entire life/production history, but just give enough that those who don't know the character can get an idea of how the character works.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Deities/Characters is 10-15 (15-20 for group profiles) at minimum to 20-25 (30 for group profiles) at maximum.
Template for Dominions profiles: Place X, Place of (Insert Trope Here) (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)
  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Theme Song (Optional): Not important as compared to Deity and Dominion profiles but a notable mention if there is an accompanying song in use with the object.
  • Alignment: Refers to the dominion's role in their story, be it those used by villains or used by the Player Character.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the dominion.
  • Domains: Things that the place has links to.
  • Relationships (Optional): Unless the location has a connection with a specific deity, relationships are optional and may not be required. However, if there are deities linked to the same series as to where the dominion is linked to, note them using the relationships, this includes deities that theoretically have interest with said dominion, good or evil otherwise.
  • Add the Intro. Here the introduction of the Dominion is added with some tidbits regarding the origins of its' creation and usage in the story. You can also add what made it popular/iconic/important here.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Dominions is 10 at minimum to 15 at maximum.
Template for Treasure profiles: The name of the item in here (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)
  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Appearance: A shortened description of the item's looks with some notable features also mentioned.
  • Class: Refer to the Treasure Classification System in the Great Treasury.
  • Alignment: Refers to the objects' role in their story, be it those used by villains or used by the Player Character.
  • Theme Song (Optional): Not important as compared to Deity and Dominion profiles but a notable mention if there is an accompanying song in use with the object.
  • Museum Check: A note that says whether the item is viewable by the public.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the item.
  • Domains: Things that the item has links to.
  • Relationships (Optional): Unless the item has a connection with a specific deity, relationships are optional and may not be required. However, if there are deities linked to the same series as to where the item is linked to (especially the original owner of the item), note them using the relationships, this includes deities that theoretically have interest with said object, good or evil otherwise.
  • Add the Intro. Here the introduction of the Treasure is added with some tidbits regarding the origins of its' creation and usage in the story. You can also add what made it popular/iconic/important here.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Treasures is 7 at minimum to 12 at maximum.

I got this suggestion for a future profile.

Thoughts? If the latter, I'm leaving this for adoption.

I might try to do Runan and Holmes, but that one might be tricky because of the obscurity of the game. I doubt I'll get too much help and I haven't gotten through the entire new English patch yet so there might be discrepancy.

Now that it looks like the Fallen and such are being fixed, a proposal. Many of the Treasures have weak profiles. I think they should be revised to the same standards as deites (trope attached, at least three bullets). Since Dominions seems to get a pass on sharing tropes (Meta Knight and the Halberd share Faceship), letting items share tropes will give plenty to work with. Thoughts?

[up]I guess if they are from the same series.

Hey, is it OK to Rework Goliath's profile to include the entire Manhattan clan?

[up]If they only represent gargoyles, then yeah. Go for it. grin I'd like to help when I can.

Now what to do about Lillie given that there are three different fates for Lusamine?

@ Ferot: While I agree that some Treasures are of low quality despite the current standards, I do not believe they should be required to have attactched Tropes. I know that’s weird, but these aren’t exactly the more important profiles like say Deities or Dominions.

Be awed. Or be awestruck. This is the difference between the ordinary and the extraordinary.

@Patrick: Didn't you read my post before??

At any rate, looks like Nightelf also knows Live A Live. So here's a re-upload of Oboromaru.

Oboromaru, God of the Pacifist Run (Oboro)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/oboromaru.png
  • Theme Song: Killing Field
  • Demigod
  • Symbol: An Invisibility Cloak active, so you would think that he didn't have any symbols.
  • Alignment: Formerly Lawful Neutral, now Neutral Good
  • Portfolio: Ninja Fighting And Ninjutsu, Spiky Purple Hair, Stealth Expert, Glass Cannon, The Option To Complete Missions Without Killing Men Unnecessarily, Beating Down The God of Hatred, Believer of The Power of Trust
  • Domain: Gaming, Stealth, Missions, Ninja
  • Allies: Ryu Hayabusa, Riki, Himura Kenshin, Miyamoto Musashi, Tokugawa Ieyasu, Hattori Hanzo, Solid Snake, Genji Shimada, Pacifist!Iji Kataiser, the Human Child
  • Enemies: Odio, Oda Nobunaga, Liquid Snake, Toyotomi Hideyoshi
  • Respected by: the Marked Ninja
  • Oboromaru was but a normal, typical ninja in service of the Enma clan. On his mission to rescue a certain Ryoma Sakamoto from a diabolical warlord, he's given the choice to use whatever ways to fulfill his mission, including killing everyone and leaving no survivors. He had thought that killing others would be fine if it's for a mission, but on meeting Ryoma, he's getting second thoughts so he tried not to kill anyone in his run. This impressed not only Ryoma, who gave him a special sword, but also the Pantheon that it allowed him to rise after another multi-dimensional battle against a certain Demon King.
  • From that point on, seeing on how much he benefited from not killing anyone in a mission, Oboromaru is the deity who rewards those who do their missions without killing anyone.
  • Despite having purple neon hair, Oboromaru actually follows the tenets of a ninja to never be seen, impressing even the Marked Ninja (that only gave his congratulations by a letter with no name) and Genji. Oboromaru was unimpressed with how Genji massacred the Shimada clan, but sympathized with why he did it. At least the Enma clan didn't send his family member to kill and mutilate him! Besides, he used to fight with a robo-ninja and at least Genji isn't afraid of mice.
    • And speaking of that robo-ninja, another O-Robo was gifted to him to take his place while Oboromaru is off doing other things.
  • He lived around the Bakumatsu era, and thus made great camaraderie with those originating from there, but especially Himura Kenshin, as they share the 'no-killing' policy. As stated, just because Oboromaru prefers not to kill doesn't mean he should be treated as a pushover.
  • That Demon King he fought was Odio, and Oboromaru was quite surprised that he's in the Pantheon at the form before he defeated it the first time, full of misanthropy. Sure, he might not have his original allies, but he trusts that he won't be alone even this time.
  • Several Sengoku-era deities came to his notice, he respected Tokugawa Ieyasu for being quite similar to the Sakamoto Ryoma that he met, he opposed Toyotomi Hideyoshi for being a ruthless warlord, but in the same time, could respect his zeal and vision, so it was a bit complicated. At least, Oda Nobunaga was simpler, he's no different than Ode Iou, so this is one guy he could attempt to assassinate any day (though he proved to be way too powerful so he has to plan it right). Just the more demonic version, though. The normal Nobunaga would require further thoughts, but unless there's an extreme order, Oboromaru really prefers to not get in his way.
    • He's also quite surprised to see Miyamoto Musashi, in flesh and blood, and actually being a normal, decent guy (if a bit impulsive), since the last time he met him, he was a haunted ghost in service of Ode Iou. Even Musashi was shocked about that, and thanked Oboromaru for putting that version of him to rest.
  • As the former holder of his title, Pacifist!Iji sent her regards to Oboromaru, claiming that he's a more deserving holder of the title than she ever was. Sure, he's slain ghosts and his O-Robo exploded to kill three guards he wouldn't have been able to bypass otherwise, but her (flimsy) excuse was mainly the use of a reflector weapon, as well as tanking explosions, dropping objects from way above, getting two opposing sides to attack each other, and not counting machines as sentient. It's one of the reasons why she moved (that, and her other aspect ascended).
    • As a fellow embarker of a Pacifist Run, the Human Child approves of his actions as well.

Naoya, God of Biblical Villains (Naoya Minegishi, Cain)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/naoya_render.png
  • Intermediate God
  • Symbol: His long robe with its Matrix Raining Code design
  • Theme Song:
  • Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
  • Portfolio: Aloof Older Brother, reincarnation of Cain to Kazuya's Abel, The Chessmaster, Crazy-Prepared, Deadpan Snarker, unnerving smile, Expy of Akemi Nakajima, morally ambiguous albino, Hidden Agenda Maybe-Villain, Jerk with a Heart of Gold to his cousin, Stealth Mentor, Nay-Theist, Rage Against the Heavens, suffered The Punishment and exploited it for his own end, Fate Worse than Death, "Get Back Here!" Boss
  • Domains: Coding, Demons, Sin, Chaos, Gambits
  • High Priest: Judas Iscariot
  • Followers: The Phantom Stranger, Grendel, the Knights of the Blackened Denarius, Lucyfar, Nimrod, Haman
  • Allies: Kazuya Minegishi (his cousin), Mido
  • Rivals: Alcor, Yamato Hotsuin
  • Enemies: YHVH and all of His Angels, especially Metatron, The Administrators, the Divine Powers, Chakravartin, Yaldabaoth, anyone who would harm Kazuya
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork with: Cosmos (only on his end), Isabeau (only on her end)
  • Wary of: Stephen
  • Respects: Aleph, Naoki Kashima/the Demi-Fiend, Flynn, Asura, Xena, Tatsuya Suou, Maya Amano, Eikichi Mishina]], the Phantom Thieves of Hearts, Terra Branford, Team Dai-Gurren
  • His ascension was preceded by a massive influx of demons coming in from COMPs that came out of nowhere. While the nearby folks either fled or fought the demons, as soon as he heard of it, Kazuya was quick to arrive and quell the issue, then convince the Court of the Gods (which Naoya didn't really like) to give him a spot in the Pantheon. After looking into his history, they decided to give him two temples to represent Biblical Bad Guy, given that he's the reincarnation of said first example; Cain.
  • Has a tenuous stance towards his cousin, given that he either fled the lockdown only to return to make up for that mistake (succeed or fail), surrendered the world to either demons (with his cousin Naoya, and rally against YHVH either for himself or for humanity) or angels (with Amane, and set Naoya on the path to redemption), returned the world back to normal with Gin, or gave the demon summoning power to humanity with Atsuro. Of the timelines he doesn't approve of, there's only the ones where he fled and the ones where he surrendered to the angels.
    • That said, given how different things are in the Pantheon, with Kazuya as King of Bel around here, he's willing to let bygones be bygones as he's got a bigger priority; his vengeance against God, a.k.a. YHVH. Despite that, though, he doesn't care much for Lucifer and the GUAC. But while Kazuya is currently sided with Cosmos, Naoya isn't the type to follow anyone; his loyalties are only to his cousin, and nothing more.
    • Why does he hate YHVH so much? Well, given that he's a reincarnation of Cain, every time he reincarnates, he remembers everything from every single past life, including the one where he killed his brother Abel out of jealousy. Thus, he is thus unable to escape his sin. The sad thing is that Cain could break this cycle by using the time to reflect on — and repent for — his sin, but he's far too consumed by revenge to do so. This is because, God set up the Cain and Abel scenario in the first place in order to get a murderer and a martyr. Cain feels that he was unfairly manipulated into killing his brother by an unjust God, and thus refuses to atone to a God that used him in such a manner.
    • That said, he would let go of his vengeance if YHVH just left the world alone. Of course, this is impossible in the Pantheon.
    • In regards to vengeance against YHVH, he has respect for those who've successfully killed Him or performed similar feats against other tyrannical or otherwise malevolent deities, such as Aleph, the Demi-Fiend, Asura, Xena, the Persona 2 heroes, the Phantom Thieves of Hearts, and Terra Branford. The same doesn't go for the likes of Merged Zamasu, Majin Buu (even Fat Buu), and Darkseid, though.
  • He's heard of other possible Cains around the Pantheon.
    • One is Vandal Savage, who may have been Cain and just forgot over the millenia. Except he apparently wasn't Cain at all; he just "stole" the Mark of Cain from a man who was passed it by the original Cain.
    • Another is Commander Kane…who is apparently his world's Cain…
    • Having heard various records, Ezio was surprised that Naoya was of a Chaotic stance as his world's Cain founded the very Lawful Templar Order. Naoya isn't amused with that irony.
  • Having battled three Biblical Bad Guys over the course of her adventures, Vampirella is keeping a sharp eye on him. She also feels a little conflict as the Cain in her world was her father.
  • His Comminucation Players, also known as COMPs, are an amazing invention. Aside from the demon summoning thing, it comes with a "harmonizer" program which, without getting technical, allows simple humans to fight on equal terms with SMT demons, and it also protects humans without supernatural defenses against them too. In addition, it has an auction site where demons can be contracted, and a Cathedral of Shadows app for demon fusion. Also, somehow, it uses the internet as a repository of emotions for demon summoning. He's not sharing or selling, though, and will fight anyone who tries to have a go at it, though he's aware that some particularly talented thieves like Carmen Sandiego can take one of his COMPs if they ever so wish and there'd be nothing he can do about it.
    • Naoya's taken an interest in Alcor's Nicaea phone app, Aleph's COMP, Samurai Gauntlets, and the DEMONICAs, since they likely have other methods because the internet is normally inaccessible in their settings.
    • Kazuya's been trying to convince Naoya to have the COMPs be placed in the Treasury if he's that concerned about it being stolen, but progress is slow.
  • Makoto Yuki raised an eyebrow upon hearing him speak; Naoya sounded just like one of his Social Links, Akinari Kamiki. Naturally, Kotone also felt the same way.
    • Naoya notes his brother's co-deity partner Hibiki can sound just like him. Maybe that's why the two managed to get along pretty quickly.
    • Speaking of voices, he's noted that same thing from Izaya Orihara, Lex Luthor, and Trafalgar Law.
    • Isabeau thought she heard the voice of one of her former fellow Samurai Jonathan, and wasn't sure what to think of the Chaotic-stanced programmer as Jonathan was decidedly Lawful. She doesn't trust him, but his desire for vengeance against YHVH (as well as how he cares for Kazuya) means he can be at least trusted on that regard.
    • N doesn't like Naoya, since—apart from sharing voices—he exploits his brother just as his "father" Ghetsis exploited him, even if Naoya honestly believes what he did is for Kazuya's own good.
  • Naoya had to hold back a short laugh when he realized the boisterous Kamina sounded just like him. He also respects the rest of Team Dai-Gurren for their defiance of and defeating the Anti-Spiral.
    • As do Kazuya Mishima, Big the Cat, Miles Edgeworth, Ryu, Omega-Xis, and Wario, though minus the laugh.
    • Tsubaki feels conflicted around him since he sounds like her brother Masamune.
      • The same can be said for Madoka, especially since it's her father's voice she hears from him. As for his opinion on the whole Great Upheaval thing, he's keeping his eye on Homura, whose militant desire to protect Madoka to the point that she would even take her powers away so she can't do anything disgusts him.
    • The Investigation Team (sans Naoto) get the feeling that they've heard his voice before. Then it clicked; get past the calm and slick manner of speaking, and they're reminded of their first suspect in Inaba's murder cases; Mistuo Kubo.

I've got a proposal here:

Trip and Grace, Co-Gods of Secretly Failing Marriages

  • Potential House: Love (Tainted Love or Couples Relationships, I can't decide; input on that would be much appreciated)
  • Reasoning: Trip and Grace could very easily be the Trope Codifier. The whole premise of their game is discovering that they're unhappy in their marriage and trying to help them work things out (OR be a total ass, your pick).

Thoughts? Might I reserve them?

I have three [tup] for him. Can i be done with him?

The Point Man, God of Bullet Time (The New Guy, Buddy, Bad Motherfucker)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/250px-point_man_artwork_7364.png
  • [tup]: 3 (Master, Whirl, R-Lock)
  • Potential House: Abilities
  • Lesser God, sometimes Intermediate
  • Symbol: His old F.E.A.R. uniform
  • Alignment: True Neutral, leaning towards Chaotic Good
  • Portfolio: Tense relationship with his brother Paxton Fettel, Death Glare, Only known as the Point Man, Abused because of being weaker than his brother, Never Says a Word, Implacable Man, Lightning Bruiser, Made of Iron, One-Man Army, The Un-Favourite, Alma's first child
  • Domains: Reflexes, Guns, Soldiers, Dark Pasts, Experiments
  • Allies: Gordon Freeman, Link, Samurai Jack, James Ramirez, Master Chief, Adrian Shephard, Max Payne, Neo, The Ghostbusters, Luigi, Simon Henriksson
  • Enemies: The Child Abuse Supporters, Dark Danny, The Slenderman, Alex Mercer
  • Acquiantanced with: Wander, The Human Child, Samantha Maxis, Erma Williams
  • Distrust: The SCP Foundation
  • Special Relationships: Alma Wade (His mother)
  • Known simply as the Point Man, this strange man was one of the newer recruits of F.E.A.R., who were tasked with the mission to hunt down Paxton Fettel after he initiated an uprising with the replica soldiers of Armachan Technological Corporation. But the point man's role was more important than that when Alma Wade got involved, who was constantly stalking him whenever he went. In truth, he turned to be Alma's first son, born for the sake of Project Origin to test his capabilities as a powerful psychic like his mother was. Needless to say, the Point Man's life wasn't all that cheerful either and the reason he doesn't remember anything is because it's been erased from his memory.
  • The reason he found the pantheon are a little hard to explain. He didn't exactly ascend but lured into the pantheon by unknown entity to him, who he mistakenly assumed to be his brother Paxton Fettel. It actually turned out to be Dark Danny, who provoked the Point Man into coming after him to see if he was as good as the rumors about him were. The actual reason for that? Alma asked him to do it, and after hearing of the news that her child has ascended he wasted no time and came to see him before anything bad happened to him. It speaks volumes of the appreciation she has for her son when Alma of all people stops a fight
  • Quickly settled down with the title of Bullet Time, given his impressive reflexes and speed which are implied to come from his Psychic Powers. He also managed to befriend Max Payne who also happens to have both super reflexes and a Dark and Troubled Past.
    • Max wasn't the only one with super reflexes though. Samurai Jack and Neo both were impressed by the Point Man's ability and a friendly spar occured between the three. They remain on good terms.
  • He doesn't this very well, but he remembers that he was treated like garbage when he was a child and it's rumored that the reason of why he is such an effective soldier is because of him channeling that hatred into his enemies. He doesn't hide the fact that he wants to brutally kill all the Abusive Parents in the pantheon but he will limit himself with the most heinous ones, primarely the Child Abuse Supporters.
  • The Point Man never utters a words, not even in the most intense moments. Some say that because of the experimentation and abuse he underwent in the past he might have become mute as a result. That's why he ended up befriending a few people who also don't talk, those being Gordon Freeman, Link and soldiers like Adrian Shepard and James Ramirez, who sympathize with his situation of being the guy who gets things done for their team. In the case of Gordon, he heard about incident involving his mother where Gordon was transported to the almaverse and it wasn't pretty, so he feel obliged to apologize on her behalf, even if she doesn't want to.
  • F.E.A.R. as a team was specialized in dealing with the supernatural, and while the Point Man is no longer a part of it, he nevertheless is experienced enough to deal with the pantheon's paranormal events. That's why he keeps a formal relation towards the Ghostbusters and Luigi, since he has had his fair share of encounters with ghosts. Not to mention the fact that they have been trying to deal with Alma and he would be perfect addition to the team if his mother ever goes on a rampage again.
  • Strangely enough, he never though that of all the people in the pantheon that would sympathize with him the most with him was a depressed teenager. Simon understand the toll he underwent knowing that him being the child of a psychic must be harsh while the Point Man felt strangely brotherly to simon given his own fragile mind reminding him of Alma's. The Point Man also once tried to venture into Simon's book world, apparently it's not that different from the Almaverse.
  • The topic of Alma is always a heated one considering there is a special group of people that want to help her. So when they heard that one of Alma's son was present in the Pantheon, they wasted no time in meeting him. Wander and the Human Child have told him that they made some significant progress in calming down Alma, the key player being Erma whose similarities made Alma calm down a little and be protective of her. The three have also tried to involve the Point Man into their little "Therapy Session" since they believe he would the final piece they need to finally calm Alma down. He is hesitant to say the least, his mother was never the most normal person around and he himself has his fair share of issues but he is willing to try.
    • After a few sessions with Wander, Frisk, Erma and the Point Man, Alma has shown some incredible progress, her desire for destruction toned down a lot and even shown some faint smiles when she sees her son. But she has demanded the four that in order to be at peace she needs to see a special person again, that being Paxton Fettel, her other son.
  • The Point Man, given his past, has a hard time trusting secretive organizations one of those being the SCP Foundation. One because the poor treatment he received in the past and the other because the SCP Foundation have some plans regarding Alma and how to contain her so she won't cause trouble again. The Point Man didn't take lightly to the latter considering that when they intended to terminate him things went ugly when the task force they sent after him was utterly annihilated by the the Point Man alone, so they are considering other less violent options.
  • Unlike Alma, the Point Man knows fully well that Alex Mercer is up to no good and that he intends to do something horrible to Alma whenever he gets the chance to find her physical body. Their confrontation is at a stalemate, mostly because the Point Man doesn't have viable means to combat Mercer while the latter won't try to harm the Point Man else Alma would surely find a way to kill him for good.

Having rewatched Devilman Crybaby but dubbed it always reminds me just how much SMT is influenced by it. YHVH as a character is based on Devilman God, who is a cosmic sadist. Which brings me here where YHVH is one of the most personal enemies for people.

Sorry, didn't see that. Anyways, is there anything else I can add?

Vir Gotto, God of Growing a Spine (Flounder IN SPACE!)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cotto.jpg
  • Potential House: Character Roles
  • Demigod
  • Symbol: The Centauri Symbol
  • Alignment: Lawful Good
  • Portfolio: Originally a Plucky Comic Relief with Hidden Depths, Adorkable, Can't Hold His Liquor, Token Good Teammate, The Conscience, Badass Bureaucrat, ultimately The Kingslayer and The Emperor afterwards.
  • Domains: Law Good, Nobility, Leadership,
  • Allies: Kosh, Lorien, Susan Ivanova, John Sheridan, Jeffrey Sinclair, Amy Rose, Jiminy Cricket, Ariel
  • Enemies: Ron Swanson, The Vogons, Tywin Lannister, Head Pixie
  • Opposed by: Lord Djibril
  • Odd Friendship: Tyrion Lannister
  • Admired by: Piglet
  • If someone from 20 years ago would say that Vir Gotto would be among the most revered bureaucrats in the Pantheon, they would have been laughed out of the building. And with good reason; Cottohe was introduced as a Plucky Comic Relief to the heroes. He was even compared to Flounder. Yet with time, he received one of the most prolific Character Development in the Pantheon. By the time his story ended, he has taken the throne for himself, free of any outside influence. Sure he had help from the many gods from his world currently residing beside him, but much of it was his doing. Not bad for a person who got the job by accident.John Sheridan felt obliged to bring him over to the Pantheon as thanks.
  • Received a hero's welcome from those of his friends that arrived before him. He was particularly happy to see Sheridan and Sinclair again after their disappearances in his world. They were glad to hear that Cotto's reign has been going smoothly. With that said, they are all wary in the event that the Shadows make their way into the Pantheon.
  • To be fair, Tyrion didn't think much of Vir Cotto. Then again, most people overlook the dwarf that has kept the Lannisters intact for most of his life. When he did meet Cotto, he was surprised at his composure as king. Tyrion offered a drink and the two fell into a deep conversation about including how he even got the job in the first place.
    • It does help that Vir Cotto handed his father the bureaucratic equivalent of the middle finger. While Tywin is the God of Effective Bureaucrats, he has a tendency of removing those who do not agree to his methods. Those who don't are forced to work with Leslie Knope, who while a good bureaucrat on her own has too many problems for her to be ranked higher. Cotto responded by allowing a large chuck of Tywin's begrudged followers to coalesce around him. Tywin saw this as an affront to his authority, and the two have been battling to win over recruits.
  • Early on, Vir Cotto has struggled to justify the actions of his morally ambiguous king Londo Mollari. He has more than often tried to steer them towards more morally tenable acts. It has certainly made him a Morality Pet in their journeys, something Amy Rose is all too familiar with. Amy has proven that such characters aren't spineless wimps, capable of slamming people with her hammer if need be. She's grateful to see another of her kind in the Pantheon.
    • One can also call him The Conscience to his group. Jiminy Cricket was initially unimpressed, as Londo hardly ever listened to him. But as time went on, the God of Consciences appreciated how Cotto handled the situation in the end.
  • While Cotto lays claim to much of their rank, most cowards secretly hope to grow out of their shell and become better people. To Piglet, this would mean a likely loss of rank. Yet he is fine with those who are able to overcome their fear.
    • That is not the case for Lord Djibril. He holds a bit of jealousy for those who leave his temple after becoming more than DIrty Cowards. He even tried to cause a diplomatic row by starting a dispute between the Emperor of Mankind and the subhouse of Aliens. Not only did Vir Cotto managed to smooth things out between the two factions, he even traced the cause back to Lord Djibril. The head of LOGOS responded by strangling the man, but enough heroes came to his aid to scare him off.
  • Is not a fan of Ron Swanson's role of ObstructiveBureacracy, preventing more effective bureaucrats from doing their jobs. With that said, he does see some use to this when it comes to sabotaging more corrupt governments.
  • Was displeased to see that the Vogons have managed to gain a seat in the Pantheon. Not just because their poem reading is awful, but they are among the most annoying to deal with in terms of diplomacy.
  • Even worse than the last two are the pixies. He knew that H.P. was responsible for corrupting the Centauri Republic to the Shadows. The only way to rectify that was to purge the entire council, including the former king Londo. As the new ruler, he swore never to let their corruption take a hold on his kingdom. The Head Pixie responded with a shrug of indifference. To them, it was a world that they carelessly neglected. Then again, they never expected someone like Cotto would be able to great their hold.

Angelina Love and Velvet Sky, Dual Goddesses of Superior Beauty (The Beautiful People; Love: Lauren Williams, Angel Williams; Sky: Jamie Lynn Szantyr, Talia Madison)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ae8062cbad6643d53c136067d5ff669f.jpg
Velvet Sky (left) and Angelina Love (right), the founding members of the Beautiful People.
  • Theme Song: Angel on my Shoulder.
  • Lesser Goddesses
  • Symbol: The Beautiful People Logo.
  • Alignment: Varies between Neutral Good (as Faces) and Neutral Evil (as Heels)
  • Portfolio: Being the Self-Proclaimed Beautiful People, Action Women Who Provide Fanservice, Power Stables With Frequent Reunious, "Let the pigeons loose!", Constantly Switching Sides, Baring Midriffs, Dumb Blondes, Dye Hard, Evil Is Sexy (as Heels).
  • Domains: Beauty, Love, Nobility, Combat
  • Allies: Ric Flair
  • Rivals: Mai Shiranui,
  • Enemies: Zangief, Rainbow Mika, Andre the Giant, King II, Jaycee, Abigail, Poison
  • Admires: Shawn Michaels (Love only).
  • Conflicting Opinion: Reika Aoki/Cure Beauty (she considers their brand of beauty as shallow).
  • Herald: Madison Rayne (sometimes a recurrent third member).
  • Straight from the halls of TNA (a rare feat for two gods to be from there), Angelina and Velvet strutted their way on a mission: making their temple the most gorgeous of all the Pantheon. Safe to say, most would agree that they have succeeded. Initially starting off as heels, the two later branched off to spread their beauty to all walks of life. As such, both good and evil factions interact with each other with similar goals. They merely squabble on how to do so with their patrons leaning towards each other on a whim.
  • Few people have a more tumultuous relationship with their herald. Madison Rayne was one of their first true fans of the group and after a nasty bit of hazing, they accepted her offer. While she undoubtedly helped the duo win, she was just as responsible for their defeats. It got to a point where they dumped her for costing them the title. Things got more convoluted from there, from Madison feuding with them to Madison joining Velvet as the new Beautiful People with Love on the outside. They at least managed to end their careers in sync, but it wasn't enough for Madison to gain full membership. Regardless, Madison Rayne is satisfied with her current position.
  • One of their first acts was to improve the looks of the Wrestling Division. Lamenting the lack of beautiful wrestlers in the Pantheon, they have filed petitions to bring in more sexy fellows into the Pantheon. Zangief and R. Mika were the first to object, stating that one's appearance shouldn't disqualify one from ascending. Angelina thought that was rich coming from the burly Russian. After that, tag team matches between the two have amassed huge crowds.
    • Among the most prominent dissenters are Andre the Giant and his kind. None of them really try too look good, knowing that their size is more than enough to squash any competition. Fights between them are often, though the Beautiful People make sure to bring an entourage of followers to even the playing field.
    • It is a poorly kept secret that Velvet Sky has a crush on the Heartbreak Kid Shawn Michaels. As usual, Shawn has been playing hard-to-get as to keep up with the name sake. Sky hopes to get him to change his mind regardless.
  • They have been impressive with how well the Nature Boy has taken care of himself, stating that he has been able to maintain his beauty despite being a Ring Oldies. As he has no qualms towards heels, he has since latched onto them. The two are more than happy than to play interference to help him get wins.
  • Their arrival may have set off a turf war with one of the most prominent beauties in the Pantheon. As the Goddess of Fanservice, Mai has been the object of desire by many in the Pantheon. The Beautiful People wanted to change that, making sure that they are the most admired people in the Pantheon. Things quickly got out of hand to the point that scuffles between the group and Mai's Women's Team are frequent.
  • Most people were impressed that Julia Change would broaden her horizons by becoming the wrestling perona known as Jaycee. Unfortunately, her previous job as a scientist was something that was exploited by the Beautiful People. Calling her a hopeless nerd, they claim that she doesn't have what it takes to hang with the more seasoned wrestlers. Luckily for her, she has the backing of her old friend King. This type of fight would require them to get their hands dirty, something the two have been hesitant to do.
