Trope Pantheons Discussion

Go To

Welcome to the Trope Pantheons thread! Please read the rules:

    open/close all folders

Rules. The following are not suggestions or tips, but things that have to be followed:
  • Gods can't be followers or high priests for obvious reasons.
  • When you suggest a God, please explain why they fit the trope. Not everyone is going to understand just "X should be the God of Y because they exemplify the trope" off the bat, especially if they're unfamiliar with the work.
  • No hype profiles, please.
    • So you ask, what exactly is 'hype profile'? It is a profile based on ongoing events that hasn't been around very long, but generates a lot of hype, possibly because of elements such as Wham Episode or Memetic Mutation or Large Ham or overall 'OMGAWESOME!!!' They're all not bad tropes, but building a portfolio solely for that is a bad idea, as they do not say a thing about representing the trope best (unless it's those trope concepts that they are trying to embody for a long time). You can see one if the profile is only showing off how awesome they are or suddenly pushing how 'significant' they are thanks to the just very recent events rather than respecting the longstanding good representations of the trope. And usually having... minimum portfolio or flavor texts and being a bit too generalized or self-contained to events from within their home series instead of interacting with other Pantheon members.
  • The Pantheon is not a mouthpiece for you to voice your opinions on certain characters. You may like certain characters more than others, but don't make the profiles for characters you like look like Character Shilling.
  • DO. NOT. put a link to these Pantheon pages into the main wiki page. The moment you want to add in a main Characters page that the character is a God of this trope, don't do it. If you see leftovers of this practice, do yourself a favor and delete it from that main page. This also goes to the Trivia page. The only exception to this rule is if a page in the Pantheon could be confused for a page in Main, like Good Colors, Evil Colors and Good & Evil Colors.
  • You must use the Trope Pantheons discussion thread in the forums if you wish to add a new deity, story, something else of importance to the Trope Pantheon canon, or reworking an existing deity (be it simply improving their existing profile or changing their title).
    • For new and reworked deities, 3 [tup] means the profile will have a one week waiting period.
    • For new and reworked deities, 4 [tup] is a 3 day waiting period.
    • 5 [tup] is an automatic ascension for new and reworked deities.
    • Speaking of reworks, for anyone that wants to improve such profiles, they have to review the current trope the character(s) has and see if it still holds up or if there is a better rep for their trope.
    • For adding new Treasures to the Treasures or new Dominions to the Dominions, the following rules apply:
      • For new Treasures or Dominions, 3 [tup] is a 3 day waiting period.
      • 4 [tup] is an automatic addition to the Treasures or Dominions.
  • Do not include fan reception in any profiles. It has nothing to do with the character themselves and will create unnecessary conflict.
  • Write a detailed explanation on why the character is the best candidate for deity of that trope. If people disagree with you, do not force it on the people.
  • Keep in mind that if you still want to try to find a trope for a particular character, you're only given three chances on such. If a suggestion goes past three possible tropes, then it will come off as shoehorning a character into the Pantheon just for the sake of that character to be there.
  • Rule of Cautious Editing Judgment ALSO applies here. Do not bring things that would incite fights, even if it is what's currently the hot topic and might be 'urgent'. For example, the political scene and some really bad politicians. We are not here to fight at each other, so don't suggest things that go to that direction.
  • Do not create a trope page for a story until the story is fully completed.
  • Don't repost a profile in the forums more than twice in a day if noticeable changes haven't been made in between. If a profile is posted a third time in a row without noticeable alterations, it will be downvoted. This is so spamming of no-effort profiles is less frequent and to prevent tropers from getting aggravated seeing the same profile over and over. The minimum acceptable change has to be a single flavour text.

    Instructions and Tips
Here are some tips one should keep in mind when editing:
  • Please use the Trope Pantheons discussion thread in the forums if you wish to add a new deity, story, or something else of importance to the Trope Pantheon canon. You can also get some assistance in the forum thread. Submissions that are added without discussion are likely to be deleted.
  • If the character you are about to add to a House already exists in another, make sure to mention that this god has spots in other houses as well.
  • When writing facts/trivia about gods, try not to contradict what has already been written elsewhere.
  • When writing down the name of a Theme Song, try to avoid calling it "Theme of God X" or "Theme of (Show where God X originates from)". If possible, try to find out if the song has an actual name.
  • When adding an image for your God, make sure that it is not too big unless you wish to write more about the god you have chosen.
  • If you feel the need to remove a god for some reason and replace him/her with another, please see what the other tropers think about this in the discussion thread before doing anything hasty. If you're lucky (and they're from the same franchise), maybe both of them can share the title "Gods of (Insert Trope Here)".
  • Certain tropes can have more than one God. It is not advisable, but it is not forbidden. Just ensure that this second God will bring in new flavor of the trope. If you have doubts on how to bring the other flavors, consult the Trope Pantheon Discussion forum. Case in point: In the original Greek Mythology (and later Roman Mythology), both Ares/Mars and Athena/Minerva share the title of 'God/Goddess of War', and even then, they differ in flavor: Ares is about brutal warfare, Athena is about war strategies and finesse, while Mars took up some of Athena's elements that he kinda differs out than Ares. If the original myth can do this, why the hell not for the Pantheon?
  • Be creative! If you need some time to work out your potential deity's profile, use the Pending Gods or Pending Gods 2 page to get help. Incomplete and/or low-quality entries are more likely to get deleted or replaced.
  • When writing about a God who just happens to be a person in real life, just try to be very careful about what you decide to say. See also the Rules section. Especially the 1st bullet point.
  • All deities should be sorted by their divine ranking. Put Overdeities on the top of the page and Quasideities on the bottom. Also be sure to add them in alphabetical order by their first/given name.
  • Occasionally there will be Gods that carry a title without a trope. This is not forbidden, but it's well advised not to abuse them. Aside from introducing too many niche concepts, there are still chances for new tropes related to your chosen deity's title to be launched through YKTTW...
    • Additionally however, the only house that a tropeless profile are wholly allowed is the House of Food. Mainly due to most food items lacking tropes, and adding tropes about said foodstuffs is slightly unecessary. However, the character being ascended for their choice of a food, or food-related thing must be a decently good representative of said item. IE: Their Trademark Favorite Food, or something that they're closely associated with In-Universe, or both (example: Gangplank and his oranges).
  • Maximum number of tropes what a god should have is three, but don't try to abuse that fact. If you need to use a second trope to specify a certain thing about their position, that can be excused.
  • Some series will eventually have greater representation in the Pantheon than others. This is unavoidable, but a little diversity helps, as well. Try to ensure that if you add a deity from a popular series, make sure that it's because they're a good representative for the trope in question, and not just because they're connected to another deity in their respective canon.
  • As far as deities from actual mythologies (Greco-Roman, Norse, Japanese, etc.) are concerned, try not to replicate the default myths about their characters and use a fictional counterpart instead. In other words, if you want to use the Greek/Roman god Ares/Mars, you can't add him as the "God of War", but you can use him as part of another trope as long as it's a different version of him. For example:
    • Zeus, while having elements of his persona from Classical Mythology, draws more from his portrayal in the God of War Series.
    • Thor and Loki's Pantheon portrayals are influenced heavily by their appearances in their Marvel Comics series.
    • Amaterasu is a woman in her Japanese mythology portrayal, but her Pantheon counterpart is the dog goddess from Ōkami.
  • Don't depend too much on the hype/meme train, don't just jump onto that train willy-nilly in order to put on some events or entry in the Pantheon. It might not last very long or represent the trope best. This is Trope Pantheons, not Trope Hype Train!
  • Unless the character proposed is specifically from the Abridged version, the character should represent the tropes in their canon selves. If they also happen to possess the trait of the Abridged self, good! But otherwise, get the abridged stuff onto just the flavor texts.
  • To prevent any surprising need to rework profiles due to new development, please restrain from ascending gods from a series before the thing is either released or for longer-running series, there is a good enough of a break from story. This also applies to already existing series if there is a new thing coming out.
  • Please be sure to ask in the discussion about what you want to work before making the profile. This is done to see if your proposal is the best representative and so, in case your profile is turned down, you don't waste time writing something that others might not find suitable.
    • In the same vein, if you adopt a profile from another troper, it is recommended that you make an announcement that you have done so on the discussion thread. More often than not, a trope that was reserved for something was given away to someone else.
  • It is much more recommended to word the title like "God of X" instead of "The God that Xs". This will give off the vibe the God actually ruled over that trope instead of just 'did X', giving more credentials to how it's the best example of the trope.

    Divine Ranking System
  • Rank: This can range from Quasideity, Demigod, Lesser God, Intermediate God, Greater God, to Overdeity, based on representation of power.
    • Overdeity: Omnipotent-level Reality Warpers capable of manipulating the entire universe (or at least the world) at will. Within their own universe they are believed to be omnipotent, or at least impossible-to-completely-destroy embodiments or concepts.
    • Greater Gods: High-level Reality Warpers and that are extremely powerful (capable of destroying or changing anywhere from a large city to a planet at will) and very strong non-reality warpers capable of doing the same thing.
    • Intermediate Gods: Deities at this level are capable of strong but specialized powers such as hydrokinesis, pyrokinesis, etc. without major drawbacks and low level Reality Warpers capable of affecting their immediate area at will.
    • Lesser Gods: Capable of highly specific or little power on their own, or suffer from Power at a Price. However, they may be able to ruthlessly exploit their power or combine it with just being badass enough to make up for it.
    • Demigods: Basically the Badass Normals of the pantheon, making up for their lack of abilities with strength, strategy, and/or planning.
    • Quasideities: Any otherwise normal human, human equivalent, or below without any special powers or training will fall here.

    Deity Template
Template for adding a new deity:

God X, God/dess of (Insert Trope Here) (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)

  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Potential House:
  • Rank: This can range from Quasideity, Demigod, Lesser God, Intermediate God, Greater God, to Overdeity. This doesn't always have to be a representation of power, but it can also represent influence in the Pantheon.
  • Symbol: An image or icon used to represent the deity.
  • Theme Song: Song that usually is used in affiliation with the character. If the deity is a musician, this will most likely be their Signature Song. If possible, give a link for reference, preferably on YouTube.
  • Alignment: Good, evil, neutral etc. Forget about The Great Character Alignment Debate here, the Pantheon is one of the few places where you can assign Dungeons & Dragons alignment to characters that don't have alignment system. After all, the Pantheon is based on D&D.
  • Gender: For Pokémon deities only. Defines the gender of the Pokémon; if genderless, it instead defines what gender they identify as.
  • Ability: Provides the Pokémon's ability. If they can Mega Evolve, the new ability is listed as well.
  • Moves: Defines the four moves used by a Pokémon. A Z-Move may also be listed.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the character.
  • Domains: Things that the character has influence over.
  • Herald: Non-ascended loyal character that is from the same series as the ascended character.
  • High Priest: Non-ascended like heralds, but not from the same series, and can serve as a worthy replacement in case something would happen. They can be served as part-time workers in case the originals are busy with some jobs. Co-Godhood is accepted depending on the approval of the originals, usually if the co-deity is from the same series.
  • Followers: Non-ascended characters that are not part of the Pantheon, but would probably worship this character by the fact that they share the ascended character's trope.
  • Allies: Members of the Pantheon that are allies.
  • Rivals: Members of the Pantheon that are rivals.
  • Enemies: Members of the Pantheon that are foes.
  • Additional Character Relationships: Members of the Pantheon that have various relationships (examples include Enemy Mine, Vitriolic Best Buds, Teeth-Clenched Teamwork, Headbutting Heroes, Friendly Enemy, Friendly Rival, Just Friends, etc.) other than allies, rivals, or enemies.
  • Partner: Defines a partnership with an ascended deity and Pokémon.
  • Respected by/Respects: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon respect or are respected by.
  • Pitied by/Pities: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon feel pity for or find pitiable.
  • Opposed by/Opposes: Not necessarily the same as "Enemies", but this is used for any deity whom the members of the Pantheon directly opposes or is opposed by, regardless of alignment.
  • Conflicting Opinion: Sometimes, the Deities argue over specific themes and philosophies.
  • Add the Intro. The intro is made up of two trivia, the Ascension Text (or just the Ascension) and The Bio. Both are necessary, but which order you use for them may vary depending on the profile in question. It may be better for one profile to have The Bio first and the Ascension second or vice-versa, although for the most part the order is irrelevant:
    • The Ascension Text: This the story of how the character got into the Pantheon and/or was ascended. There are many ways for this to happen. They may be tricked into it or have simply wandered into the Pantheon, they may have had an already ascended character bring them in, they may already be in the Pantheon (via being another deity's Herald or sharing a trope) and got "promoted", or some combination of the above. Anything is possible in the Pantheon, so use your imagination, but try to incorporate their trope into the story, if possible.
    • The Bio: A brief synopsis on the character's backstory. No need for the character's entire life/production history, but just give enough that those who don't know the character can get an idea of how the character works.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple of more.

Honestly, I am not sure if Komala really fits Disability Immunity that well. I was also one who wanted to work on Magearna potentially. Also, can we just not ascend Lusamine? Please?

@magnum: Watch Homura now cross all of the event horizons. Including the actual one.

Any relationship?

Vincent Brooks, The God Who Climbs To Survive (Man Drinking Alone, The Man of Legends)
  • Quasideity (Demigod in his Nightmares, Greater God in the True Cheater Ending)
  • Symbol: Pillow and pink polka-dot boxer
  • Theme Song: Also Sprach Brooks
  • Alignment: True Neutral (remains so or shifts to Neutral Good in the Neutral/Freedom Ending, shifts to Lawful Good at the Commitment Ending, and shifts to Chaotic Neutral at the Cheater Ending)
  • Portfolio: The Everyman, Wears Underwear in His Nightmare, Jaw Drops Much of His Life, Determined to Survive in his Nightmare, Choice of Commitment or Freedom, Terrible Liar, Nice Guy, Grew a Spine, Large Ham, Helping Others With The Same Struggle As He, Happily Married (potentially)
  • Domains: Climbing, Survival, Relationship
  • Followers: Non-ascended characters that are not part of the Pantheon, but would probably worship this character by the fact that they share the ascended character's trope.
  • Allies: Ampharos, Homer Simpson, Moe, Harth Stonebrew, Ysera, Ni GHTS
  • Enemies: Bane
  • Cautious Around: All succubi in general, Darkrai, Lucifer
  • Vincent Brooks is a thirty-two year old still in a relation with his girlfriend Katherine McBride but was too indecisive in regards to marriage. When the enigmatic beauty named Catherine appeared in his life, everything is dragged into a nightmare. Literally, he is trapped in a nightmare where he must climb to the top in order to survive or else he will die in the real world.
  • Due to the nature of Multiple Endings, this Vincent is one of nine potential versions of his future, selected by an unidentified deity. In four of them, he doesn't get either the succubus Catherine or his old girlfriend Katherine McBride, two where it's by his own choice, two in where the girl he chose turns him down but he is now free to get his life back on track. In two, he lives in the Netherworld with Catherine, and in one of those, he took it over from her bumbling father. In two others, he makes it up to Katherine and they marry. The Vincent that came is the one where he doesn't pick either girl and pursues his dreams of space tourism, after which he was invited to the Pantheon.
  • Having confronted his Shadow back in his nightmares before, Vincent decided doing so again in the TV World wouldn't be a bad idea. Getting a Persona out of the deal seems to be pretty sweet.
    • He recognized Minato Arisato as that kid he met in the Club Escapade. When they first met, he told him that he'll have nothing to do with Minato's problems. Now, he thought that he was the only one who has problem at night.
  • Even though she sees potential in him, Kyu decided to respectfully back off from taking him in as a client. With what he's been through, he's probably not ready. It doesn't help that in some of his endings, he's already happily married, and it's not in her rules to go after such people.
  • Due to his experience with Catherine, who is revealed to be a succubus, he doesn't like to be near others like Morrigan and Lilith Aensland.
  • Princess Cadance pities him for the hell he had to endure, and plans to tear Thomas Mutton a new one for putting him and many others through such trying ordeal, even if it's to continue population growth by weeding out cheaters.
  • Because he endured in The Great Trials in his Nightmares for a week, he doesn't like those who bring nightmares which could force him back in if they had the power. He seeks the help of some dream deities that could help him sleep well just in case these Nightmares could be recreated in the Pantheon.
    • He doesn't enjoy being in company with Darkrai who can cause bad dreams. This guy needs a supply of Lunar Wings. Though, Bane enjoyed making an illusion of his Nightmares when he is put to sleep by him.
    • Though Luna would help with his dreams, if she saw that he is going to start another relationship problem, she might restore the Nightmare again just to teach him a lesson.
  • He is usually seen in the House of Foods drinking. He befriended Homer as his drinking buddy, and thinks Moe is alright considering how his old bartender, The Boss, essentially started his Nightmares and was his final obstacle.
  • He once played an arcade game based on Rapunzel in which is similar to his Nightmares. He told both Rapunzel and Flynn Rider that he hoped that their marriage last forever.
  • He meets with those experienced with tarot cards who tells him about how his trials were similar to the story of the Lovers Arcana. He was put on a crossroad where he choose either a young romantic woman who represents Catherine or an older wise woman who represents Katherine. Of course, he could take another path if he wanted to and he took it.
  • He doesn't usually speak to high school students but he feel very uncomfortable when speaking with Yukari Takeba and Rise Kujikawa since the two sound too much like K/Catherine so it could be both confusing and disturbing. Ironically, both of these girls represents the Lovers Arcana.
  • Due to the similar sounding name, he thought that K/Catherine are in the Pantheon. With the woman named Catherine Kyoubashi and Katherine Anne Pryde, he realized that he was mistaken.
  • Whether or not he actually gotten married, he openly respect those that did since they made a choice on commitment. Though while he is in no position to oppose cheating, since he either trapped in it or embraced it, he hoped that they don't suffer through the Nightmare he faced, depending on how bad they are.
    • He doesn't appreciate Makoto Ikou for actively cheating on people, in which he was very nervous and even frightened of the love triangle he got himself into. Though he isn't old enough, he hoped that he doesn't have to suffer through the same thing he faced in his nightmares.
    • He doesn't know how he feels about the love goddess Aphrodite who is known to having multiple lovers.
    • Ironically, he doesn't know how he feels about harems since it's not technically cheating when there are multiple partners holding interest in one person. Though Issei is shown to have the most stable of the harem as in the future, all of them has a child with him and are in a happy family.
      • It is worth noting that he has his own harem of demonesses when he became the Lord of the Underworld.
    • He pitied both Korra and Asami when they dated Mako who did cheat on both with each other, although he's surprised that both of them are a couple.
  • Since he was seen as a sheep in his Nightmares, he ended up respecting Ampharos, a sheep(?) Pokémon, as he felt like he saw many sheep that didn't survive the Trials like the lamb for the slaughter.
  • Lucifer "respects" him for in one period where he became the new Lord of the Underworld, in which he compensates for what his friend Ishtar/Astaroth/Trisha put him through. Vincent isn't sure what to say to him.

Well, okay. If one thing I have gathered, these are the things I've gathered in the past about me and my plans:

  • Rose for The Tragic Rose (I am still thinking of proper wording. Also this means that Aki Izayoi will be left with just Something About a Rose)
  • Iris Sepperin... formerly for Cute Is Evil, but only if it's agreed that she can take the trope from Airy... because as it turns out, Airy doesn't have another trope. But I can attest that Airy seems to be serving another, while Iris is the big bad mastermind herself, thus it seems to be more 'proper' that Airy is 'serving' her, since her portfolio seemed to say that she served a higher being.

Possible co-ops with others:

New stuff I just thought:

[up][up] When did you serving someone else disqualify you from Cute Is Evil? It makes no sense. Plus, her boss is in the Pantheon or is in the works, so she still serves him. I mean, if Treacherous Quest Giver is open then maybe she can take that, but you know, your reasoning why she should surrender the trope doesn't make that much sense.

Well, Treacherous Quest Giver was at me for Adria, but on second thought... I'd say Airy fits better because for Adria, it took two games to realize it, but Airy can do that in one game. Not to mention, Adria doesn't give quest, she just stands and sells potions or magic items and give hints...

So yeah, I think Airy got it better. What do you think?

Swiper, No Swiping!... Uh the trope says about someone who gets that person to stop, whereas Swiper, from what I read, is the recipient of the trope... So... I'm not quite sure...

Meifeng Sakura, Goddess of Fake Boobs
  • Quasideity, used to be Lesser Goddess
  • Symbol: Her hat with wads of cash inside it
  • Theme Music: No Money, No Life, Itsumo Ooki ni Maido Ari☆Honde Itsumo Honma ni Ari
  • Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
  • Portfolio: Only in It for the Money, Legitimate Money Fetish (used to be weaponized), Lovable Rogue, Flat-Chested (With Occasional Stuffing), Single-Woman Economy, Part-Taiwanese, Part-Japanese
  • Domains: Money, Thieves, Boobs
  • Allies: Mamori Tokonome, Mirei Shikishima, Rain Hasumi, Lady J, Gust, Recette Lemongrass
  • Meifeng was once a carrier of Armed Virus, and as such was send to the isolated island of Mermaid alongside other carriers of the virus. What she decided to do in the island after getting there? Get herself rich, if course. She is an information broker, bookie and trader of goods by stealing stuff from Veste and selling them for those outside the castle for her own benefit.
  • She ascended thanks to her friends of sort, though mainly due of Mamori. Why did she acquire such title? Aside the fact that her Veste disguise has her stuffing her chest, her Arms armour has slots for large pair of breasts for some reason. She doesn't say why she does that. Maybe she is hiding something. Considering the setting, it is hard not to see why.
  • She loves money. And by "love", we mean she can actually turn herself on with it. She used to be an Extar who didn't need anyone to Drive with since she can substitute them with cold hard cash. Unfortunately for her, while her Arms form is versatile, she has to Cast from Money to use it, meaning that she looses any money she used to Drive.
    • Even though she is cured from her Armed Virus, she is looking other ways to substitute her lack of powers. Currently she is looking to have the Magic Armour to herself just in case she needs it.
  • Her current place of operation is at the Academy, mainly to bring in items illegal on the school grounds. Since she is so slippery, she hasn't been caught almost ever. She also has some gambling and betting rings. She is generally fine with a lot of things as long as she profits from it, but she refuses to do anything just to be an ass kisser for higher ups. She does her stuff for fun and profit.
  • No connections to Sakuya Izayoi, we swear. Also has no relations with League of Flat Chests.
  • Is honestly surprised by Gust and Recetta for being even younger businesswomen than she is.

I think she's from Osaka due of her dialect.

Tell me when you're gona start working on Spiritia, whoever's nominating her, cause there's an ally I want to add to her list.

@Whirl: That sounds like a good idea. Need to find replacements first, though.

[up][up][up]If you do that, would it be too much to give Batman a rank up? He is pretty much the Trope Codifier for The Cowl.

[up] Lesser is a,pretty good rank for him since he a Badass Normal who the peak of human condition.

There has to been some kind of broken branch of the rank from what was written to what others thought it meant.

Standard repost.

Chief Lin Beifong, Goddess of Iron Ladies (Lin Bei Fong, (That Lady is) My Hero, Sexylin McBeifong on the rare occasion she wears a hot ballroom dress)
  • Potential House: Leadership
  • Rank: Intermediate Goddess.
  • Symbol: Black metalbending gauntlet with a three-claw scar and a golden arch badge.
  • Alignment: Lawful Good 90% of the way, but will go Neutral or Chaotic in exceptional times.
  • Portfolio: Metal, Earth, 24-Hour Armor, Amicable Ties to an Ex-Love Interest, Keeping Peace and Stability by Enforcing the Rule of Law, Building-Swinging Cables, The Comically Serious, Powerful Middle-Aged Female Voice, Cool Old Lady, Lowering the Walls Around a Heart of Gold, Being Just Like One's Parents Except Really Not, Iron Lady of War, Protecting Others at One's Own Expense, Maintaining Integrity in the Face of Plausible Deniability, Retractable Blades, Lost and Regained Powers
  • Domains: Law, Metal, Leadership.
  • Allies: Avatar Korra, Asami Sato, Avatar Aang, Katara, Varrick, Commander Samuel Vimes, the GUAG, non-corrupt members of the GUAL.
  • Enemies: Amon, Zaheer, Lust the Lascivious, the GUAC, the GUAE, Raditz.
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork with: Toph Beifong (her mother), Greed the Avaricious. Both one-sided on her part, said to be loosening up over time. Formerly had this with Korra.
  • Respects: Any non-corrupt members of the Houses of Leadership and Justice, especially Sam Vimes.
  • Pities and Opposes: Emperor Charles zi Britannia.
  • Conflicting Opinion
  • High Priestess: Olivier Mira Armstrong.
  • Herald: Mako, Saikhan.
  • The elder daughter of the legendary Toph Beifong, Lin is the Chief of Police in Republic City (the capital of the United Republic of Nations). She holds a strict belief in peacekeeping through strong and just enforcement of the law, and has run her department this way. Despite this belief, she hasn't let herself be held captive to the letter of the law, stepping outside those bounds in critical moments to protect her world, charges and loved ones against major threats.
  • In her younger days, Lin briefly dated Avatar Aang's son Tenzin until things fell apart and he left for another woman. In response, she infamously destroyed his house and tried to get his new girlfriend arrested. Aang, who she got along with famously, was briefly disappointed but did not resent her after this.
  • Was initially hostile towards Aang's successor Korra, considering her a lawless, impetuous Destructive Savior coasting on her title. Working together against Amon and his Equalists helped Lin gain respect for Korra as well as resolve her issues with Tenzin, who was Korra's mentor.
  • Has been estranged from both her mother Toph and her non-ascended sister Suyin stemming back from her childhood. These issues have begun to be resolved after 30 years.
  • Philosophically, she comes straight from the school of Samuel Vimes. In fact, he considers her such an ideal understudy — strong in the law, faithful to its letter, but more importantly true to its spirit — that he openly campaigned for her to enter the House of Justice. While that push was unsuccessful, the House of Leadership took notice and made sure to have her brought in to fill the vaunted seat of the Iron Lady, one which she's earned as a tough, decisive boss and guardian whose bluster is backed up in action.
  • Was greeted by Korra, Asami, Aang, Katara, Toph, and Samuel himself upon her ascension to the Pantheon. Was not happy to discover that Amon and Zaheer had ascended before her.
  • Is still wary of Varrick for how he played into the Water Tribe tensions to enrich himself at the potential expense of Republic City and the Tribes' safety during Harmonic Convergence season, though she does acknowledge the stroke of conscience that's come upon him in the time since then and is willing to work with him when the occasion calls for it.
  • Met Greed shortly after her ascension. The homunculus caught her at work arresting a street criminal and promptly went to hit on her, declaring that he was the future King of the World and wanted her as his Queen. She rejected him out of hand just as quickly as he came, but later began to see that he had some virtue after he helped her lead a small resistance of both police and civilian fighters to protect Republic City from an attack by Raditz. Since then she's been willing to fight alongside him, but still isn't terribly friendly towards him. Toph, who approves of Greed, says that's slowly changing with time.
  • Since ascending to the Pantheon, she routinely takes trips to the House of Justice. She often visits Samuel and takes pointers from him about certain situations to see how well his outlook really matches her own. Not all members of the House are as keen to her presence there as Old Stoneface, however.
    • Judge Dredd, for example, is annoyed at her propensity to bend the law when it gets in the way. While he knows she doesn't do it very often and that her heart's in the right place, he just can't get past the fact that something like "OUTSIDE THE LAW" often becomes an infamous declaration when she does. She doesn't think ill of Dredd for this, but does find the objection annoying when it comes up.
  • She first took notice of Charles zi Britannia when she heard about the old emperor with military strength-based ideals similar to those of her High Priestess. After brushing up on his politics and goals, she considers him a revolting and pitiful distortion of both Olivier's and her own ideals and will not hesitate to bring him down if she sees him come near her people.
  • During one of her visits to Greed's bar, she witnessed one Josuke Higashikata willingly heading right for the slot machine in order to get the money to pay back some rich guy whose car his great-niece was accused of stealing. Interested, she cleverly used her metalbending to rig the machine so he could win, with only Greed noticing, then followed Josuke to the House of Commerce, where she witnessed him paying the money to Robert Speedwagon and Integra Hellsing, then conversing amicably with Speedwagon. After looking up connections between the two and and discovering Josuke's family ties to Speedwagon's friends, Lin then went to the House of Family to check on Josuke, only to be disappointed at the sight of him beating up on Bowser Jr. for mocking his pompadour. She now thinks he's going down a similar path to Korra as a novice Avatar and Suyin as a young rebel.
  • After being informed that the GUAC wants to extract Vaatu from Korra and several agents of Chaos have already tried to do so, she is more intently watching out for anything they might do as well as becoming slightly overprotective of Korra. Despite knowing the Avatar can more than handle herself, she can't help but think there's no such thing as being too careful. That said, she has no intention on smothering Korra, seeing how badly that's gone in the past.
  • The fact that the benefactor to Greed's bar happens to be a member of GUAE doesn't sit well with Lin. She's confronted the homunculus about this, but was assured that Wario did not ask him to become a member and is only interested in money, and he would've said no even if it came up. For some odd reason, she actually believes him, but still doesn't like the situation.
  • Whenever she sees the Gaang hanging out as kids, Lin still finds herself amazed at how little they've changed personality-wise from how she knew them as adults. Seeing how Toph is in particular, as well as finally being told about her mother's difficulty with being sheltered by her own parents, has given her a new understanding about why Toph was so lax with her and Su. In any case, she's more appreciative of her mother taking that route as a parent — instead of turning into someone like Charles or Unalaq.

Faso@ A artifacts of older time. He would most likely be lesser.

Ok, the only solution I can think of is base their rank of the overall skills or powers of their given universe. It's the same deal we did with Kaijus, Pokemon, and Kancolle.

Fir example, Anguirus is Demi because he a Badass Normal with no powers. But Rodan is Lesser for his ability to fire radium blast and Godzilla is Greater because of his high regeneration abily, durability, and fire blast.

But I will stress that Greater and Overdeity would go to Gods, Physical God, or reality Warper extreme.

[up]Now what about D&D/Pathfinder gods who have actual ranks already? Like Odin and Thor being Greater? And Bastet being a Lesser Goddess?

Speaking of which, did she get ascended yet? 'cause this is her info in Deities and Demigods (3.5ed)

Lesser Deity
Symbol: Cat
Home Plane: The Solar Barge (Mount Bakhau)
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Portfolio: Cats, vengeance, protection, punishment
Worshipers: Mothers, defenders, fighters, barbarians, rangers, elves
Cleric Alignments: NG, CG, CN
Domains: Chaos, Destruction, Protection, Strength, War
Favored Weapon: Tiger claws

Also: Her picture in Deities and Demigods is quite fanservicey, what with the toplessness only censored by some Godiva Hair [lol]
