So the website Zimbio
has been doing a March Madness style contest/popularity poll of people's favorite TV couples
(of both Official Couple and Unresolved Sexual Tension varieties). And the Clarke/Lexa pairing has been cleaning up; it's won all the brackets so far, and now it's down to just them and Root/Shaw from Person of Interest for the championship.
Now, I haven't watched Person of Interest yet, so for all I know Root/Shaw is an incredibly fascinating and rewarding 'ship. Since I haven't seen it, though, I'm really hoping we get Clexa for the win.

So I binge-watched this thing all the way to "Remember Me". Here are my observations:
- The first three or four episodes have those obnoxious Dawson's Creek moments (bear with me, it's the only teen romance TV series I've ever seen thanks to a friend of mine being a fan fifteen years ago). It gets better later on, but the Octavia/Lincoln romance in Season 1 is depicted with all the subtlety of a sledgehammer.
- Well, that and I just noticed an accidental Theme Naming between the two: one's a Central European compact sedan, the other one's an iconic American auto brand.
- Season 2 is Falloutastic. With Mount Weather being an Enclave of vampires, the worn anachronistic getups of Mount Weather inhabitants and the village names being explained by damaged signs (like Arefu and the Pitt in Fallout 3 and TonDC in The 100).
- What the hell is the deal with the ruins of New York in the Season 2 opening? I feel like I'm being spoiled, same goes for the shot of a settlement apparently adapted from the ruins of old skyscrapers.
- Some Fridge Brilliance is in that opening too. Only after Anya removed her tracker I noticed that the red triangles that appear in the opening shots are signed "Tracker (insert number)".
- Chinese fiberglass is eternal. If a Grounder mask looks like a skull, it's a Chinese-made "Cacique" airsoft mask, in either full or lower half variations.
- Halfway through season 2, there's a cool thing with Octavia and Lincoln: while Lincoln switches his tribal getup for the typical patched flight jacket of an Ark citizen, Octavia goes native.
- Monroe is a dick, and Wikipedia says Richard Harmon was upped to a full cast member for season 3. AAAARGH.

"what the complete, unabridged, 4k ultra HD fuck with bonus features" - Mark Von LewisDamn, you're right. Murphy is that dick. Monroe is the glorified extra.
Also, I'm catching how much of the Grounders' gear is put together from modern military webbing. With some ALICE belts thrown in.
"what the complete, unabridged, 4k ultra HD fuck with bonus features" - Mark Von LewisI caught another spoiler in the opening. This time for episode 12.
Remember that TonDC was built around an amusement park? With a rollercoaster track, and a Ferris wheel?
"what the complete, unabridged, 4k ultra HD fuck with bonus features" - Mark Von LewisPretty sure Ton DC was built around Washington DC.

Actually, TonDC was named after the road sign that was seen right outside the village in one of the episodes: it said "(...)ton DC, 10 miles".
As for the amusement park, in the episode where Finn and Murphy approach TonDC there's a shot of an overgrown rollercoaster track right in the middle of the village. If you look at the opening, there's a ballistic curve being drawn in one of the shots, with the end aimed at a Ferris wheel sticking out of the forest. What happens in Episode 12?
"what the complete, unabridged, 4k ultra HD fuck with bonus features" - Mark Von LewisOkay, so I'm done.
- The guy who plays Sergeant Miller is a dead ringer for Barack Obama.
- How will the Grounders take that Clarke wiped Mount Weather for good? And what will the Sky Crew do with Mount Weather now? On one hand, it's a near-perfect hideout since most of the damage (bar that completely busted turbine) is reversible, but on the other hand, nobody wants to live on a murder scene, especially if Camp Jaha is still viable.
- Still no sign of NYC in the series. Making the shots of Brooklyn Bridge and Statue of Liberty a teaser for Season 3, if anything.
- It's not the "Polis" Lexa mentioned, either (as that, judging from the place name, would be Annapolis, MD most probably, it's close enough).
- City of Lights, if it exists, is not Manhattan.
- Assuming good weather conditions, it'd take around a week and a half to get to where NYC once was, and that's without taking into account stuff like minefields, sandstorms, sandworms, anomalies, raiders or a pissed off King Kong.
- What does that crazy bitch need a nuclear missile for?
Two more headscratchers:
- Does anyone on that show have an idea what to do with a garage full of SU Vs, with at least one honest-to-god Hummvee?
- What Will Carl Emerson Do?
Yes, parts would be a good start. There's a lot of things you can do with wheels (even if the rubber decayed), car radios, headlights and seats. As for engines, I think that if you salvaged a couple bits from the Ark you could get a serviceable utility truck.
Also, I went up to Kim Shumway's Tumblr and asked her straight what's the deal with the NYC shots in the opening. The answer was something of a Suspiciously Specific Denial, and a Mashable article on costumes published last October mentioned something about the "city grounders". I doubt they needed those costumes for Season 2, as having a late fall/early winter shooting schedule doesn't exactly fit the continuity (although I did notice a "centipede" mask and a football protector armor in Season 2).
So maybe the City of Light IS Manhattan after all (if it's not the solar farm, but I doubt that). And with a good enough VFX company, you can easily create a nice past or future incarnation of New York City, as we saw in Agent Carter.

Batman Ninja more like Batman's Bizarre AdventureHer actress' schedule is bound to get weird, since she's also cast in the spinoff of The Walking Dead. So, expect to see slightly less of her.
This is a signature.
We Are With You Zack Snyder
They mentioned it the showrunner said AMC was really nice about working with them on allowing her to show up.

Aww yiss. I'm so excited for AI shenanigans. That's the reason I started watching the show in the first place, actually.
The last time a network executive said a series was going to become more hardcore science fiction it led to the abominable second season of SeaQuest DSV. Oh gods, please no.
Trump delenda estI like that The 100 is going the route where it retools itself each season. A lot of these heavily serialized shows run into trouble as they go along: either the plot becomes increasingly convoluted over time, or the need to maintain certain aspects of the status quo that are central to the show's premise limit where the story can go.
That Seasons 1 and 2 each (mostly) wrapped up the main conflicts they dealt with, and that Season 3 will apparently continue the trend of wildly altering the characters' circumstances for the new season, makes me optimistic. Now if only 2016 weren't still half a year away.

I doubt Alie's a hallucination (that would be too much of a cop out). That said, Jaha really wasn't in his right headspace all season; I liked how they made it so that, most of the time, you couldn't be sure whether he'd legitimately gone insane or not.
