that's kind of ironic, considering your stance on how Monsters University was a flawless film. Incredibles, I feel, lends itself Ten fold to more story than any of their recent sequels sans Toy story.

You are displaying abnormally high compulsions to over-analyze works of fiction and media. Diagnosis: TV Tropes Addiction. You mean Pixar is actually making a sequel to a movie that deserves one? Huh, awesome. I wonder if they'll have a ten year time skip.
Well, i'm not going to say the sequel themselves will be bad. I'll most likely enjoy them. But it is somewhat worrisome that they have been producing a lot of sequel lately. Some of which feels highly unnecessary.
Finding Dory for a good example. I'm not saying that movie might be bad, but you just can't help but be incredibly skeptical of it's concept.

What are Jack-Jack's powers anyway?
Morphing, from what I can tell. It will be interesting to see how his powers have developed.
Everything, if bonus babysitting short is to be believed.
At the very least, in this case I'm giving myself room to be optimistic because out of the Pixar movies, this is one of the ones that I feel would lend itself the most to building on the story. The whole "Superhero" motif has leaves a lot of space to work with, and the end of the movie was totally open to the possibility of ongoing adventures.

Reaction Image RepositoryConsidering that the theme behind Jack's powers was "potential" and that with a baby you don't know what you're going to get, it's possible that he'll actually have fewer powers or something to that effect in the sequel since he'll no doubt no longer be a baby and thus he'll have something better themed to his personality that would, at the same time, line up with what we saw originally.

Perhaps, but Jack-Jack's case might be different than most super-babies because the family considered it unusual that he hadn't exhibited any powers at all yet. And if it means anything, a deleted scene shows baby Violet and she only exhibits invisibility.
I'm gonna be the voice of dissent here and say that I don't think an Incredibles sequel is a good idea at all. Much as I love the first film (it is my favorite Pixar film), a sequel never seemed needed to me. It ended on the perfect note—an open ending, to be sure, but one that still wrapped up pretty much every loose end as nicely as it could've. If they ever made any further Incredibles stuff, maybe I'd have been fine with a series (easier to ignore if it sucked ) or a longer comic series than it received (which yes, is a thing that exists that people seem to forget about so much), but a movie sequel? No. No, no, no, no, no.
That being said, I'll still probably see it opening day and I'm still hoping for the best, but I'm also preparing for the worst.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here. How come all superhero stories in the older comics, up to today's comics, have been on-going?? How come it always worked? How come they flow into each of the next issues? How come MARVEL Studios loves continuing stories in sequel films now?
The Incredibles is perfect for a sequel.
Kyun, I respectfully disagree, especially on the grounds that The Incredibles was less a superhero story and more a movie about the virtue of family and of embracing your own unique qualities. To call it solely a superhero story diminishes the larger themes within. To say that you can just pick up and continue from where it set itself down disrespects the overarching...um, arcs.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.I agree that it's less a Superhero story than a family story wrapped in superhero motifs, but I still think it's ripe for a sequel. There's tons of ways you could experiment with the whole "superpowers vs. family dynamics" issue.
Reaction Image RepositoryTen years by the time it comes out, eh?
I think I'm experiencing what the internet calls "feeling old".
Thank you Lords Pixar!

I'm really excited for Incredibles 2....>_>
My various fanfics. On the whole "10 years" for the first thing, I doubt they'd announce this if Bird didn't have a story ready that he liked and he thought was good, and while there will no doubt be tweaking to it in the meantime, I doubt we'll have to wait 10 years yet before the sequel comes out at this point.
A sequel to The Incredibles is interesting news.
I wonder if they'll go the Evil Counterpart route and have a family of Supervillains.
Or is that just my obsession with evil twins evil knockoffs, and Fearful Symmetry talking?
One Strip! One Strip!A sequel to The Incredibles?! Shut up and take my money already!
"Transform and Roll out!" Optimus Prime@Handsome Rob I didn't mean literally....
"Transform and Roll out!" Optimus Prime@Odd1: Now I understand your concerns and your opinion about the idea of this fantastic movie having a sequel, but try looking at the bright side of things.
There have been lots of fans begging for a sequel for this movie because of how awesome it was, and this is Disney/Pixar's chance of giving them what they want, so while it may be shocking if the movie flops, but considering how many fans the movie has, I think it will do awesome in the box office.
Again, I completely understand your concerns, Odd1, because sometimes I do feel mixed about the idea of The Incredibles movie having a sequel (considering how many Disney sequels flop), but I'm just preparing for the worst and praying for the best (because I fucking love this movie!).

Well you gotta be careful about that kind of stuff.
Hopefully, the fact that people have waited so long for it will mean that as much effort as possible will be put into making sure it's as good as it can possibly be.
I'm not too worried about the sequel. These days, Sequels are usually ok. It's trilogies that are the problem. Second movies can be as good, or better than the original lately, but if a third movie is made, it usually tanks, or at least, that's how I've seen things.
One Strip! One Strip!
If I've got one worry. It's that I've got no idea how they could possibly top this
