It took me a while to recognize that music. When I saw that the title was "Christmas Time is Here", I was like "that song from the beginning of the Charlie Brown Christmas special?" So I found an original version of that song and HOLY COW they're sharing the same rhythm!
Also, I had no clue who Christophe Beck was. One Google search later, I find out he's the composer for the music of such films as Frozen (and its sequel short), Edge of Tomorrow, and Marvel's Ant-Man.
Huh.
That's my thoughts too. I'm wondering if this is going to be another Big Hero 6 - Interstellar contest.
@Kyun Totally hear you- I'm going to most likely be out until the 13th so I won't be able to watch the film when it comes out. At least I read the plot!
You are displaying abnormally high compulsions to over-analyze works of fiction and media. Diagnosis: TV Tropes Addiction.... that said, I still think this theme song
is the most rockin' tune to ever grace a Peanuts animation.
Agreed, but I prefer the original
. Or better yet Instrumental
A thought just occurred to me.
On the scale of "Trendy Approach vs. Timeless Approach", this movie is evidently taking the timeless approach.
Anyone think it's possible that whatever hypothetical success the movie will get, it could convince Sony to reconsider having Genndy Tartakovsky returning as the director for their Popeye movie?
At first glance, yeah, you might argue they're so different, but think about it:
- A) They're both age-old series that have been around for ages to the point where everyone and their mom know about them.
- B) The part of the Popeye test footage (I'm sure you saw it already) that had Genndy talking was basically him saying "I want to take this movie and approach it in a timeless manner. Spark new life into it without eschewing what made people like it in the first place," which is what the attitude of the filmmakers for The Peanuts Movie was, if I'm not mistaken.
- C) Genndy is/was really gunning for the timeless approach for Popeye. Sony evidently wants to go for the trendy approach.
So my understanding is, if The Peanuts Movie (using the timeless approach) gathers success from its target audience, namely families with young kids, I wouldn't brush off the possibility that it could cause Sony to be like "Hmmm, maybe we were being hasty with Genndy and Popeye..."

Seeing Peanuts go trendy approach would seem very off to me.
Though I do kinda wish that they used Lucy's design from the 80s and 90s strips. The one that was a shirt and pants as I kinda prefer that one to the dress. Same with Sally. I don't mind the dresses but I prefer the shirts and pants designs of the 80s and 90s strips.
AAAAUUUUGGGHHHH!!!!

You mentioned the word "trailer", er go, you just answered your own question.
