I was wondering why the heck GV would work for Summaragi and I guess new leadership and things going to crap would be reason enough. Things must of really gone bad to force GV into this kind of position. Though I wonder is Lumen a Sumaragi attempt at remaking the Deva or Zeno giving Gunvolt the glaive from the end of 2?

[up] Gunvolt might realize that Sumeragi could be better if only they don't do the more inhuman stuff. Aside from providing a lot of things to the common people, they also police the Adepts.

[up] The whole thing with Elise indicates they're pretty bad at controlling Adepts.

The also drove Stratos to insanity and got duped by a terrorist organization so they don't inspire me with much confidence.

Well as the old saying goes, "if you want something done right, you do it yourself." Which might also explain where the new girl came from. GV decides to use Sumeragi for something good and finds himself in Asimov's shoes when he finds new girl being another Azure Striker experiment.

[up][up][up] I did say, "if they stop with the inhuman stuff". Beyond that, Sumeragi actually does its job well.

[up]yeah she does which usually means 9 times out of 10, you're an Azure Striker. The question is how but considering GV, Blade, and Asimov were all experimented on to get that power, odds are she'll be in that camp as well.

The girl, Kirin, supposedly isn't an Azure Striker. She has a septima that seals others.

No playable Copen? This makes me sad.

But if Kirin has his MegaMan gimmick, I can live with that.

We don't know that yet. Copen might still find his way into the story. Mytl does have the Muse after all.

I imagine the question at this point is who the antagonists will be. Could Gunvolt have gone Villain Protagonist.

I still want my idea of normal humans going after Copen for murdering their Adept family members. Give him a nice kick in the balls. And then he has to go to Gunvolt (and Adept) and Sumeragi (a company he wanted to destroy due to using Adepts) for help.

If Kirin is intended to be more of a melee character, I hope her attacks are a bit more fluid.

Cause her staff swing looks kinda sluggish.

According to the Japanese press release, Kirin's septima is named Gibbs while the kanji for it means Chain Circle.

Probably a reference to the scientist Josiah Willard Gibbs.

[up][up]I wouldn't be too worried, yet. This is obvious alpha footage for us just to get a general idea of her. And if they do mess up the sword swings I'd be disappointed because Zero's were so good.

Not going to lie this whole Gunvolt working for the Sumeragi Corperation thing is reminding me of how they wanted to make Gunvolt the villain for Gunvolt 2. And honestly I don't like it, it doesn't help that the new characters power is ment for sealing up other adepts. Personally I'm tired of the Adept bad guys. I want some non-adept bad guys.

We had Copen for non adept bad guys.

Sure he was a little bit Anti-Hero, a little bit Anti-Villain, especially in the second game, but I'd say he was very much a villain in the first game, since he would have murdered Joule without hesitation (and possibly murdered his own sister as a result).

I agree with you though that some non-adept bad guys would be nice. Copen himself has shown us how it can be done.

Also note that the game has a history of characters who have had Septima implanted in them. I've never been clear on if they have to be adepts before hand for it to work, but if not, there's a way to get human villains.

[up] We don't need to speculate about Copen trying to kill Joule circa the first game; he did try to kill Gunvolt unprovoked, that was enough to have him be the villain.

I don't know what else the series can do as far as regular human villains. If you want a "guy who hates Adepts and using technology to fight them", we already have Copen. If you take what was a normal human and give them a Septimasome... doesn't that just make them an Adept?

Good point.

Maybe different motivations beyond kill all the adepts.

Perhaps a mix of Adepts and normal humans instead, though I've no clue what would bring them together (beyond my kick the shit out of Copen for all the people he's killed idea).

A muggle in a position of power who rallies propaganda against Adepts?

A Mad Scientist muggle who experiments on them?

There's the idea that people have floated the idea of Copen's father being alive and the lead villain with an army of normals powered by tech like Copen.

Perhaps a previously unmentioned country where humans and adepts actually managed to live in peace that for some reason views Sumeragi and Gunvolt as a threat?

Sumeragi, especially has many skeletons in its closet.

I also have this youtube video from Shadowrockzx, who posits his own theory:

Long story short, he theorizes that the enemies in this new game are Quill, which would mean a complete Perspective Flip as Gunvolt is now fighting against his former allies as a part of the original games villains.

We have been wondering what happened to Monica (who was a normal human in love with Asimov and didn't take his death well) and Gino. Also, there's whatever secret Xiao-Wu is keeping (which may be related to Lumen being back, since he apparently sealed the power of the muse in a pendant or something).

I know the game has pounded the Adepts completely rekt the world button pretty hard, but it'd be interesting to hear of other places besides Japan where they somehow worked past that.

Maybe make a human antagonist like a mad scientist who wants to gain the power of Adepts and evolve mankind. Like Master Albert. Or Albert Wesker.

I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.

[up][up][up] The only known other country that maybe has good adept/human relations is Australia. Milas' backstory doesn't mention anything about him being discriminated against, and he's only in Eden for non-supremacist reasons.

[up] that's just "absence of evidence"

Though it's true that he didn't have anything really bad happened in his backstory unlike the others, and he's also quite chill.

They just don't say anything about Australia as a whole.
