Interesting. I do hold that music needs context, but that context is only in my head anyway. Effectively that means I do have an interest in music alone. Any art form can speak to you after all.
As for Sailor Moon, Takeuchi's vision is dated (though it works in context of the nineties), but I think this will work out financially for nostalgia reasons if nothing else.
From my to watch list
Free, Prisma Illya, Sailor Moon Crystal and SAO II are living up to expectations and I am content.
From stuff I was certainly going to check out: Aldonah Zero, Tokyo Ghoul and Terror in the Resonance are definitely keepers. Himegoto... eh. Not worth it.
From the Maybe file.
- Akame ga Kiru! (still undecided. Will give it another couple of episodes)
- Glasslip (still haven't watched and my schedule is full enough
- Magimoji Rurumo (My schedule's been a little full but it still sounds interesting)
- Rail Wars (now that more details have come out my interest has waned dramatically)
- Seirei Tsukai no Blade Dance (yeah... no. Read the first chapter of the novel and watched the first episode and was not inspired to continue)
- Shirogane No Ishi Argevollen (Aldonah Zero is fulling all my mecha needs at the moment)
- Tokyo ESP (pleasantly surprised and will be continuing)
Also wild card contender HaNaYaMaTa has made it into the running and onto my Crunchyroll queue.
The pink chick in Akame ga Kill has a laser rifle, da fuck?
Even being an ancient super weapon it is still ridiculous. Suit of armor+spear, sword, scissor things, claws, wires, and a freaking laser rifle. One of these things is not like the others. That was one of the better responses to a blade catch I've seen though, after Trunks vs King Cold.

you should add Jo Jo in the long runner category, as that's gonna be running for a year (4 cours)
Zankyou no Terror is so far the best series of this season. Toji's Dissonant Serenity shenanigans are delightfully disturbing, especially when when he nonchalantly threatens Lisa. Then again, I guess I just have a thing for Villain Protagonist series, so I may not be unbiased.
Also, I hope the animation stays as amazing as it has been so far.

I mostly agree with that. Music with some kind of emotional anchor stands a far better chance of me liking it on a level higher than just nice to listen to. Probably the personally most significant moment for me was the song Like Lovers
from the Titan A.E. soundtrack, which I liked previously (mainly because of an old Sailor Moon AMV). And then when I heard it in the film (well, during the credits) it just clicked, with the entire weight of the otherwise not that spectactular film behind it, which made everything better.
Anyway, I really need to get to watching more of the current series. It's not an exceptional season by any means, but there are a few series worth watching. And for some reason, I get the impression that shoujo gets more and more space in anime. Tends to do romance better than shonen, for some strange reason.
The worst series I intend to watch through is probably Sailor Moon Crystal. Very dated, but also interesting because of it.
