"The best huntress in the world? Pretty lofty goal, but a goal without a purpose is a useless one."
Belle turned to Pius sizing him up. "And what's someone like you doing here? You could be safe tucked away in a comfortable office somewhere."

It still bothered him, though. Yet another naysayer, another person he'd have to prove wrong if he wanted to be a Hunter. This never would have happened if he—
He was snapped out of his thoughts by the yelling of one of the girls next to him. Another kid who thought herself as the biggest deal around here since the discovery of Dust. "The best hunter in the world? You might want to leave your ego at the door."
Pius let out a confused sound, almost like an abrupt "Uh," before bringing his hand down again as basically the third person ignored his greeting today. Is it just me, or is everyone determined to not work together? he thought bitterly.
"And what's someone like you doing here? You could be safe tucked away in a comfortable office somewhere." he heard. Pius remained still for a second, before realizing that the other girl, who he himself ignored when he greeted Urujauni, was talking to him. Turning his head to face her, his mouth returned to a neutral line.
She was decked out in gray clothes bore two pistols, immediately earning points with the Nobel for dressing in his favorite color. She looked...nice, as Pius would say.
"Well, when your parents are killed in a car accident caused by Grimm, an office job seems like a crappy way to get back at them." he replied, being frank about why he was here. It may have been a tough topic for others like him to talk about, but Pius wouldn't shy away from proclaiming his purpose. He was here to kill every last Grimm and discover if they had a source. And if those monsters did have a source, he would kill that too.
Pius twirled around the pencil in his right hand once more, not even bothering with attempting a handshake this time around.

Allurand and surrounding world loading, 28%...Rufous turned to him, although he wasn't looking him in the face. He didn't seem to looked people in the eye when he spoke, but off to the side of their whole head.
"That Gaston fellow, that Atlasian girl, everyone else. I've noticed a strong trend towards antagonism," Rufous said, "It bothers me, especially when we will be eventually organized in to teams."
"So its revenge you want." Dead parents or not to Belle this kid was just another noble playing with fire. So she decided to test him a little bit. Her lip turned upward and her gaze on him sharpened.
"Do you really think that your parents want you out on the battlefeild instead of managing the company? Or do you have people for that?"
In truth though she was one to talk, and she left behind what her father had planned for her to fight the Grimm. She could have been designing, building and selling robots, and they would go to protecting this guy's Dust shipments, if he stayed on his course. Funny how things work out. But she hadn't answered his question.
"As for me...I'm here to protect my home against the Grimm nothing fancy."

announced Raqib's presence behind Pius. He grinned as he clapped the younger boy on the shoulder. "You gotta relax; the Grimm are not going to be leaving any time soon, my friend. Ah, but this is rather rude of me. My name is Raqib Grenitch. The pleasure is mutual, I'm sure."
"There ain't nothin' wrong with a nice scrap!" Ayers interjected at Lucas. "Fightin' eachother's how ya learn ta fight better on the whole! A fight gets ya exercise, and there ain't no bone stronger 'n one that's been broke before!" He grinned again, then jerked a thumb over his shoulder. "Now c'mon, we gotta git ta the speech er whatever Ozpin's got planned."
"I dunno, headbutting him seemed to make him like me." Ayers replied. "Some people are like that though. Y'all need ta understand that people just communicate differently. In Gaston's case, and mine, violence works pretty dern well." He held out a hand, indicating Rufous. "Ta others, body language." Then he jerked a head backwards, towards the stage. "Ozpin likes to git his point across with experiences. I think that makes him a smart man."
More talking, rambling, people talking about teams. Teams? What teams?
More students gathering together nearby, one of them seeming to be some strangely accented commoner, they were talking about her and her supposed ego (Not ego, knowledge.) and-
Wait. One of them, the businessman noble, was so open about something as tragic as the death of both parents...? Why reveal your weaknesses so openly...?
That said, seeking to kill all Grimm was certainly something she could get behind, and in the midst of her exhausted frustration she turned back to face the group, drawing closer towards them.
And then there was music, a steady and pulsating and powerful and... egads, it may have been some of the best music she'd heard in her life, even if she couldn't follow the words at all aside from the line "Breathe". She turned to see the other Hunter who had arrived via Nevermore, and noticed for just a moment that his physique and face were certainly... impressive.
Ahem, focus, still a contest.
"He-hello," she stumbled, coughing to try and readjust her poise.

Raqib turned and smiled at the girl who addressed him. Her appearance... Like Raqib, she wasn't a native of Vale, that much was sure. She had her own beauty, as he found in all women, and she seemed almost flustered by him. "Excuse me, it appears the pleasure is in fact all mine. You were quite impressive out there, my dear. A veritable force of nature you are."
"Evii is right though" -Saturn "I didn't know you were a bitch Evii." -Lior Val"It's me Barry, remember? You were asking about Dragon Lily here back on the airship," Barry told the sleepy girl, he then continued, "I hope we get on the same team together, you're the only person Ice hasn't tried to come up with a plan to shoot yet, that means he liiiikes you." He finished the statement with a wide grin.
/人◕ ‿‿ ◕人\ Will you make a contract with me?"O-oh, um... thank you! Well, you know, your arrival was also quite impressive. Full of daring, and, and..." she waved her hand in an obvious gesture of 'what word am I looking for', "adventure, I think!"
As she looked into his eyes, there was just something about them. About him. She couldn't put her finger on it, but this guy was the bees knees. So to speak (she was, unfortunately, allergic to bees).
"I, ahem... I just wanted to wish you well. It was very impressive what you did. So, um, where are you from? Raqib? You don't sound like you're from Vale."
"Beauty, brawn, and brains?" Raqib's grin widened as he stepped closer to the girl. "Such a wondrous combination." He paused to consider her question. "But yes, I am indeed from afar. Vacuo was what I once called my home before I realized that my destiny called me elsewhere. To improve my Grimm slaying skills. To live a full and joyous life. To meet, perhaps, the love of my life." He sighed, delighting in his romanticized past.
"But my story no doubt pales to yours. For a year I have been a Vale resident and have never caught the eye of such an exotic beauty as yourself, my dear. One with such a bold purpose, I dared not even dream of. What glorious coincidences could have led you to meet me, a humble soldier of Vacuo?"
"Evii is right though" -Saturn "I didn't know you were a bitch Evii." -Lior Val

Oh... great, a wealthy, business-owning Vale nobleman. My very most favorite sort of person. Yes indeed.
She looked him over, up and down, and frowned a little. 'Over there at Atlas', 'A tenuous state'. She'd heard similar comments on her way to the academy, the few times she'd stopped at a town or village.
"I am here to become the best Huntress the world has ever known, if you must know. I've been training to be a Huntress since I was four years old, so..." she tiredly gestured to the auditorium, "well, I'm finally here! The great Beacon, best Hunter academy on the planet."
She didn't respond to his last few comments, though she was certainly tempted too. Too tired, too unclear in her use of the language, too desperate to win to get bogged down in a political argument.
She turned back to the central platform and proceeded to intensely ignore him with every (not yet exhausted) fiber of her being. The people of Vale were so oblivious to what had happened, for so long now... once she had proven herself, the best of the best, she'd make sure that they regretted it. Maybe even make the Third Court so grand as to overthrow such a powerful nation, and finally give them a taste of history in reverse?
... Yeah, okay, maybe not. Still going to be the best Huntress in the world, though.
Annnddd... off to work.
