As a kid I was sort of biased against calling the X-Men "superheroes" because they were classified as mutants, most of them didn't really seem "super-heroic" beyond Cyclops, and Wolverine looked stupid.
But childishness aside, the X-Men are a more specific branch of the superhero community, with probably more isolated and distinct sub-groups and retconned teams in their pantheon than most other Marvel franchises, so I don't see a problem having a thread for stories focused on them.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!I was re-watching {{X-Men: Evolution}} and there is something I'd like to take a stab at examining in a fic. This kind of goes into what is written in the the X-Men's Broken Aesop section.
Anyways in season 3 there is that episode where the X-Men return to school after being exposed as mutants and there is the debate over if they should be allowed to return.
I don't think they should. I don't agree with people hating mutants, but I do understand the fear. Especially if you consider that like Jean did in one episode a mutant could loose control of their powers and possibly hurt someone. or one day the school punching bag shows up and can fire laser beams out of his eyes. It's like bringing guns to school. Not to mention with all the other crap teenagers deal with at high school like peer pressure, bullying, stress from tests, etc. throwing super powers into the mix is just a disaster waiting to happen.
It's just I can see both sides of the issue here (even if Kelly is a jerk ass for arranging the Brotherhood to attack the meeting with Duncan). Would you feel safe going to school with people who can do what the X-Men/Brotherhood can do? I wouldn't especially when he even the good ones like Jean can loose control of their powers or if Scott's glasses got knocked off at just the wrong time a whole through the roof will be the least of what could happen.
So I can't fault the Bayville students for reacting the way they did. Except Duncan and any other idiot who tried to provoke them.
The issue: Can I avoid falling into Author Filibuster or is it unavoidable? I mean the school meeting would be a setting for a debate.

I think this is an interesting idea! It would be a good idea to have the students debate about whether or not they should go back or not. It would make for an interesting discussion within the fan fiction and it would also help the readers debate among themselves about whether or not they should go back or not. So, I don't think you would fall into an Author Filibuster if this happen.
As for my opinion on the situation, I agree with you that they probably shouldn't go back. At first, I was like, "well the X-Men should mingle in with humans" like they did originally, but now that you brought up the dangers of them having powers that could destroy people if they are not properly trained in handling such powers, then it would be safer for them to have their own school where they could train the mutants in controlling their powers, then to be near human beings and risk hurting them in the process because they can't control their powers.

I love animation, TV, movies, YOU NAME IT!Just saying, if anyone's interested I'm doing a blog
for X-Men: Evolution.
So I've started up my own X-Men series, located at Fan Fiction.net
. Firstly, I thank Vampire Bhudda and others for their help with ideas. Secondly, the first chapter is more of of a prolouge than anything else, but it's actually tied to the chapter that will come immediately afterwards, so I can't really call it that. If you want more information on the series, there's tons of it right here.
I hope you take a look, but more importantly, I hope you enjoy. Feel free to tell me what you think.
And Chapter 2 is up. I know I said I'll be updating on Monday's, and officially I still do. Right now, it's 9:09 PM on Sunday night, so I figured it'd be late enough to count. I'll tell you all now though; there may not be another Chapter for another week. There's some stuff I've got to work on that I've sort of been neglecting, though not so much that I can't get it done in time. This is also arguably the first 'real Chapter, at more then triple the length of the first Chapter, and with a lot more named characters. Here's a list of characters that you can expect to see in this Chapter that weren't in the first:
Jean, Cyclops, Forge, Iceman, The Orphan, Charles Xavier, The Beast, Cecelia Reyes, U-Go-Girl, Banshee, Wolverine.
And other characters are still alluded to; you can expect Nightcrawler, Colossus, Storm and the Shadow King to show up next Chapter. Strong Guy, Mystique, and Mastermind will likely appear as well. (I edited Strong Guy's backstory somewhat; you'll see it when the Chapter comes up.) And lastly, here's the link.
Enjoy.

It's currently a Dead Fic, but I started a What If? fanfic about three years ago proposing an alternate continuation to The Dark Phoenix Saga if they'd gone with the original plan and let Jean survive.
The short version: it involves a rogue Shi'ar general leading a coup against Lilandra, a full-scale Shi'ar invasion/occupation of New York City, Jason Wyngarde bonding with an OC cosmic entity that's the Phoenix Force's Evil Counterpart, Jean squaring off against Wyngarde in outer space amidst the ruins of D'Bari, and (eventually) the X-Men going underground to battle a rogue faction within S.H.I.E.L.D. led by Abigail Brand.
It's unlikely that I'll ever finish it, but it was my first fanfic. I have kind of a sentimental attachment to it.

After a few weeks absence, Chapter 3 of X-Men Re-Evolved is finally up, and at 28 pages, it's the longest chapter yet. Check it out here.![]()
One type of X Men fanfic I am personally really interested in, is the type of stories which involve a character not in contact with Xavier's or other major mutant factions for the majority of the story. Rather focusing on their struggles as a mutant to stay hidden to avoid prejudice. Unfortunately the only good example I have found thus far was this: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/3052479/1/Genuine-Need
and it seems to be a Dead Fic.

Which is exactly the type of thing I don't like seeing in X-Men these days. Staying hidden to avoid prejudice? That's what the JGS is doing, hiding away in their mansion instead of getting out into the world and making their voices heard. Heck, that's what the X-Men did until Grant Morrision came long, and that was undone shortly after he left. To me, that shouldn't be what the X-Men should be about, and my story is about the X-Men (not the 616 X-Men, as my story is a Continuity Reboot,) actually getting out into the world rather than remain segregated, like they have been in 616 for years.

That's a nice sentiment, but unfortunately the world isn't ready to accept mutants yet. As long as there is some group in our world that is denied fundamental rights because they were born different from the majority, Mutants will never be an accepted race in the Marvel Universe.
I get that. And I'll actually be addressing that in my story. The X-Men are definitely going to try to get mutants accepted, but due to a variety of factors, (ranging anywhere from mutant haters, to mutant extremists, to even mutant infighting,) they're never going to be truly accepted unless the universe they reside in changes radically.

So okay I'm currently taking a Crime and Society course and between this and my X-Men: Evolution blog I've picked up on something about the Brotherhood and it amuses me because intentionally or not these guys existed long before the show was made and they just fit so well. That and I like a good theme for a team when I see one.
Basically the Brotherhood are Delinquent Personality Powers.
Let's start with Quicksilver who has Super-Speed: he commits crimes for impulsive thrill seeking reasons and just runs away from accepting responsibility. So he represents: Truancy, Runaway, Traffic Violations like Speeding (duh), street racing, and just being utterly out of any authority's ability to control.
Blob with his his Super-Strength and Nigh-Invulnerability is obviously the classic "might makes right/brawn over brains" bully and being the fat kid throws his weight (which he has a lot of) around to get respect. He'd cover crimes of fighting and Assault and Battery.
Toad who has Wall Crawling Sticky Fingers and a Multipurpose Tongue good for snatching stuff covers Theft (mainly pickpocketing). I assume if he steals its to survive seeing as Pietro covers the "for the thrill of it" motive and I'm trying to differentiate them-not just in what crimes but in motive as well.
Avalanche is an example of Strain or Anomie Theory: Basically he feels "rejected" or locked out of the economic mainstream. IIRC in his intro episode he said stuff like: "we'll be in control" and "how the school uses tests to keep them down" which suggest this. His powers make him the vandal: destroying property in order to send messages to the "man".
Pyro: The Pyromaniac arsonist. His motivation is he just likes Playing with Fire.
So a Speeder, a Bully, a Thief, a Vandal, and a Pyro.
TBH I'm pretty sure there's nothing else to add (other crimes are more White Collar-and the Brotherhood are on the opposite end of the social ladder) or can't be added unless you want to break the show's PG-13 rating.
Oh yeah, when I looked through examples of delinquent crimes I couldn't help but think: "Yes fear the power of my credit card fraud!" or truancy? "Yes fear me not showing up to fight you BWHAHAHA!"
I excluded Wanda because my textbook doesn't mention anything about the occult/witchcraft or the Goth crowd, that said is it just me or did Wanda remind anyone else of Carrie?

Hmmm...a story line about the X-Men trying to go out and actually convince humanity that they are the good guys is an interesting concept. I might make a fan fiction series soon that details the X-Men's adventures in dealing with humanity and trying to do various activities like protecting the city from monsters. Right now, I'm doing mainly fan fiction that explores the X-Men's relationship with each other and I might bring that out if I decide to do a series where the X-Men are doing services to help people realize that not all mutants are bad.

Thanks. The story, as planned, has more of a focus on the X-Men getting out into the world, as well as the various factions that each have their own agenda. The Purifiers, the Right, (who will probably be working together, at least at first,) the Hellfire Club; even Magneto gets in on the act. In fact, he already has, courtsey of Anteres giving me the idea. As opposed to just going around and destroying everything in sight, he has instead composed a rather extremist Youtube video to inspire people across the country, if not the world, to take arms against their government and right the world by force. (Not that he would ''ever'' actually suggest such a thing, of course...) But of course, he has a larger agenda, and the Youtube video is just the first step of a larger scheme.

I've seen lots of fan fiction threads about Naruto and Gundam, so I think there should be one for X-Men.
