Maybe it's because I've been off this wiki for a while, but what's the difference between putting an entry on Counterpart Comparison and Surprisingly Similar Characters? The line that's described on Counterpart Comparison seems quite blurry, and I've been trying to find the discussion that split the two off but I can't find it.

1. If I compared Tarzan characters to Moana characters, I'd compare Tarzan to Maui, Jane to Moana, Professor Porter to the old villager who tried to eat the chicken Heihei, Clayton to Tamatoa, Sabor to Te Ka the lava demon, Kerchak to Chief Tui, Kala to Sina (Moana's mom), Terk to Gramma Tala, Tantor to Heihei, the baby baboon to Pua the piglet, and the baboons to the Kakamora.

2. If I compared Mulan characters to Bug's Life characters, I'd compare Mulan to Atta, Mushu to Heimlich, Shang to Flik, Shan Yu to Hopper, the "Huns" to the grasshoppers, Shan Yu's falcon to Thumper the grasshopper, Cri-Kee to Aphie the aphid, Yao to Francis the ladybug, Ling to Slim the stick insect, Chien-Po to both Dim and Heimlich, the Emperor to Manny, Chi-Fu to P.T. Flea, and Mulan's mom and grandma to the Queen of the ant colony.

3. If I compared Peter Pan characters to the Harry Potter cast, I would compare Peter Pan to Rupert Grint, Wendy to Emma Watson, John to Daniel Radcliffe, Michael to Matthew Lewis, Tinker Bell to Evanna Lynch, Hook to Gary Oldman, Alan Rickman, and Ralph Fiennes, Smee to Jim Broadbent and Timothy Spall, the Lost Boys to Tom Felton, Dudley's actor, and Fred and George's actors, the "Indian" chief to Robbie Coltrane, Tiger Lily to Padma and Parvati's actresses, the mermaids to Clemence Poesy, Bonnie Wright, and Katie Leung (Cho Chang's actresses), the Squaw to Pam Ferris, George Darling to Richard Griffiths, and Mary Darling to Fiona Shaw.

4. If I compared Sword in the Stone characters to Zootopia characters, I would compare Wart/Arthur to Nick, Merlin to Yax the yak voiced by Tommy Chong, Archimedes to Finnick, Ector to Lionheart, Kay to Jerry the racist elephant who wouldn't sell Nick a Jumbo Pop, Madam Mim to Bellwether, the wolf to Duke Weaselton, Sir Pellinore to Clawhauser, and Black Bart (the knight in the jousting tournament with black armor) to Chief Bogo.

5. if I compared Cinderella (1950) characters to Beauty and the Beast (2017) characters, I'd compare Cinderella to Stanley (the guy Le Fou danced with in the end), Prince Charming to Le Fou, Lady Tremaine to Clothilde (Cogsworth's wife), Anastasia and Drizella to Gaston and the Village Lasses/Bimbettes, the King to Maurice, the Grand Duke to Cogsworth, Jaq to Prince Adam, Gus to Lumiere, the other mice to Belle and the other servants, Fairy Godmother to Agathe the enchantress, Garderobe, and Cadenza the harpsichord, and Major the horse to Philippe.

Here's a couple others

1. If I compared 101 Dalmatians characters to Ted characters, I'd compare Pongo to Ted, Roger to John, Anita to Sam (the lawyer in Ted 2 played by Amanda Seyfried), Perdita to Tami-Lynn, Nanny to Lori, the Dirty Dawson to Rex (Lori's boss in the first movie) and the Hasbro CEO in Ted 2, and Jasper and Horace to Donny and Robert.

2. If I compared Enchanted characters to 101 Dalmatians characters, I'd compare Giselle to Anita, Edward to Roger, Robert to Pongo, Nancy to Perdita, Morgan to the 99 puppies, Narissa to Cruella, Nathaniel to Jasper and Horace, and Pip the chipmunk to Sergeant Tibbs the cat.

3. If I compared Maleficent characters to Mary Poppins characters, I'd compare Maleficent to Mary Poppins, Diaval to Bert, King Stefan to Mr. Dawes, Jr., King Henry to Mr. Dawes, Sr., Aurora to Jane, Phillip to Michael, and the fairies to Ellen, Winifred, and Mrs. Brill.

4. If I compared Flight of Dragons characters to Oliver and Company characters, I'd compare Peter Dickinson to Oliver, Melisande (the princess) to Jenny, Sir Orrin to Dodger, Carolinus the green wizard to Winston the butler, Giles the elf to Tito the chihuahua, Aragh the wolf to Francis, Gorbash and Smrgol the dragons to Einstein, Danielle the archer to Rita, Ommadon (the villainous red wizard) to Sykes, and Bryagh to Roscoe and De Soto.

5. Do you think Kion and Bunga in Lion Guard are like Bambi and Thumper?

6. Do you think Rasputin and Bartok are like Jafar and Iago?

7. If I compared Pebble and the Penguin characters to Balto characters, I'd compare Hubie to Balto, Rocko to Boris, Marina to Jenna, Drake to Steele, Marina's friends to Dixie and Sylvie, Muk and Luk to the three birds Hubie is friends with, Drake's henchmen to Nikki, Kaltag, and Star, and the orcas and leopard seal to the grizzly bear!

CC is relaying what at least one fandom has identified as a similarity between characters in different series. SSC is when a troper themselves recognizes a similarity that isn't explored within fandoms.

They're both essentially the same thing, but the source that makes the claim is different.
