People die every day. Some of them are famous, some important, many newsworthy. This thread is for announcements of deaths in the news, discussions of the legacy of those recently deceased people, and memorials of same.
Please observe the usual rules about posting ettiquette and note that this is in On-Topic Conversations.
To start with, the last of the original Von Trapp Singers has died, Maria Von Trapp, 99, in Vermont. (This is the daughter of Captain Von Trapp, not her stepmother who was also named Maria. In the musical, they called her Louisa.)

2023 mod note:
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.
This doesn't mean that you can't discuss their life or legacy, or express an opinion as to whether they escaped justice for their actions. But if that starts to become a longer conversation, there are other OTC threads that may be more appropriate.

Ouch, so many tragic incidents in a row.
My condolences to Xol's, Williams' and Abramidze's respective families and friends, as well as those of the ones who did manage to enjoy a long, robust time in life.
EDIT: Typo fix.

R.I.P.
And thanks for reminding me that I need to email my senator and rep and ask them to support the Federal Death Penalty Abolition Act. There's no hope of the death penalty being abolished in red state Missouri, anyway, even without the current composition of the Supreme Court, so the least I can do, even in New York, is advocate for something Congress can do.
A hopeless mess in a kernel of truth.
And adding to the tragedy: Emmanuel Littlejohn was mercilessly slaughtered by the state of Oklahoma today without a fair trial, in spite of the evidence of his innocence that went totally ignored! Awful and horrible! The Oklahoma courts and the U.S. Supreme Court totally failed him, and they had him brutally murdered by injection in a legal lynching without a fair trial! I hope Oklahoma has to answer to God for the horrible acts of atrocity committed against Emmanuel! May he and the victims R.I.P.

I assure you, I'm perfectly trustable personI don't think was reported on when it happened back in mid-July, so I'll bring it up now to personally say God rest:
BC’S ‘BIG CAT’ SCOTT HENSON DEAD AT 40.
Was also Scoot (as represented by the Tiger) from the YMS video series Adum & Pals. Discovered it just over two years ago and found it—and him—very funny. It's pretty sad.
Gonna miss him.
Also, God rest to Bob Newhart as well. Shocked that I missed him. Same to JD Souther and…was Chad McQueen brought up yet?
Oh he was. There you go. Again, to all others I missed as well.
