Maybe. I would prefer them to be mentioned in a "This trope can be accomplished by the use of the following tropes, though by no means are they actual subtropes" section, right after a list of subtropes and including laconic descriptions of the tropes for clarity.

So, we're basically making it a pure index? If we're going to clean up all the wicks anyway, perhaps we should rename it to include "Index" in the name. People don't use obvious indexes as tropes. So, something like The Nameless Index or This Index Has No Name.

(That won't help with people still using the old name, and there's probably too many inbounds for a cut, but it would be something.)

I generally balk at gratuitous renames, but when we have to clean up all the wicks, it might just make sense.

Remember that not all indexes are tropes. The crowner said it would still be considered a trope, but so "high" on the list (like Character Archetype) that there are only examples in the subtropes.

The weakest of the YKTTW drafts right now is where the character withholds their name from other characters. Please visit that draft with ideas or preferences of previously suggested names.

Thread's current status:

• Somebody Named Nobody is not yet launched.
• Never Given A Name is not yet launched.
• No Name Given has a Sandbox for going through examples to make sure the wicks are sorted correctly.
• 263 wicks point to The Nameless, and should be fixed.

After we're done, No Name Given should go to Image Pickin' to decide on where the comic should go; the "lady" pups aren't named by their parents, rather than having names that aren't used by the work.

Does My Name Is ??? have a place in the sandbox? It seems related.

My Name Is ??? is related to Spell My Name with a Blank, but has nothing to do with The Nameless in general.

The suggested trope is about redacting information (not just names) until the pov character has learned it.

There's a trope ( Take Away Their Name ) currently running through the Trope Launch Pad that seems like it fits in the Sandbox under the tropes with which The Nameless often overlaps.
