He killed Brian and tried to replace him with some Canon Fodder no one ever wanted. And that's worse.
To be fair, my only emotions toward MLP are Hype Aversion and "Why are their heads shaped like that?" I just used it as example. I can't outright bash a show I've never watched.
I'm just sick of people acting as if Seth is this horrible human being because they don't like his work. I'm also sick of him being an Acceptable Target (Sponge Bob too and I don't even give a crap about that show). These shows deserve to be afforded the same amount of respect as everything else here.

Then don't come crying here once we all find out just how crude and dry the jokes are and how much respect Bob's Burgurs actually deserves.
I won't, because at least you all will have actually seen the show by then (except for a few people who will bash it just because Seth's name is attached). Until it airs, you all should kindly refrain from badmouthing it, thank you very much. You know nothing about it and no previews have even been released.
Why did Bobs Burgers come up in your post? I'm lost.
Somebody really needs to explain why Seth's shows are such Acceptable Targets around here. What is it that enrages you all so much?

Poor writing, annoying and unlikeable characters, ugly animation and art are the main reasons I'm not much of a fan of Mac Farlane's work.

Because he's fucked up several times and they won't let him forget about it.
Also, for those of you who hate Seth's work, remember that he worked at Hanna Barbera on Dexters Laboratory, Johnny Bravo and Cow And Chicken - all shows you may have enjoyed as kids...
"They say I'm old fashioned, and live in the past, but sometimes I think progress progresses too fast."I don't have any real interest in this show, but considering all the debate going on here and on other internet places, I suppose I should speak my opinion on Seth. And yes, I know that he's not that much involved with this show. I guess this is probably the best place to talk about it.
I use to like his stuff, but over the years my opinions have changed and now I'm not a fan of most of his stuff anymore. I don't think he's a bad person, and he is a good voice actor and singer, but his actual writing and comedy doesn't appeal to me anywhere near as much as it use to. I still like a couple of his older works, but that's about it. That being said however, the whole Fan Hater attitude towards people who do like him needs to stop. It's really immature and petty, not to mention incredibly mean. I've never liked the whole Fan hater thing, and this is no exception. Different people have different tastes, no reason to bash them just for liking something you don't {Not referring to anyone here in particular, just making a statement}.

People bashing this show due to it's art style and Seth brand jokes is one thing, but people who bashed Bobs Burgers due to just it's art style while it has some really good improved moments is another. I don't know if this show will be as whitty, but people still need to not judge a show on it's style alone.
Dakota's blog An odd agent of justiceFair enough, but are you referring to ALL of his work or just one specific show? People tend to forget that he has more than one. Also, those traits apply to a number of shows, yet they don't get nearly as much bile spewed in their direction. What separates Seth's shows from these others?
Understandable, but keep in mind that he hasn't been credited with writing any Family Guy or American Dad episodes since 2005. He has never written any episodes of The Cleveland Show (but I'm pretty sure that his main contribution to that show was funding it and not anything creative). Unless you're referring to his movies, your beef is really with the other writers and showrunners of his shows.
Agreed. I happen to like Bobs Burgers, even if I think the art is horribly ugly.
Exactly. You people need to stop judging this show when you haven't seen so much as a five second clip. That goes for people on the opposite end of the spectrum too. I don't even know if I'll like this show. I'm withholding judgment until I actually see it.

Mainly Family Guy.I can't really get in to Cleavland Show(not because I think its Black Family Guy,just don't find it interesting) and American Dad is okay from what I've seen, but not a show I really like leaving on in like the background.Though I don't find his art style appealing in any of his shows. It looks stiff, very stiff.
Yeah outside of general stylistic traits I don't believe Macfarlane has actually had much hands-on involvement in the shows he's been credited for creating in the last few years.
Whatever opinion you have of the shows he's not really the person to point fingers at.
Thanks for clarifying. I had a feeling that the main beef was with Family Guy. I'm not a fan of The Cleveland Show either, for the record.
Because it bears repeating, I'm going to hammer in the point I've been making again:
"This show doesn't look like my cup of tea. I'm going to skip it." - This is an acceptable reaction. You're expressing your opinion respectfully and not accepting it as a fact.
"This show is going to suck! Everything affiliated with Seth Mac Farlane is awful!" - This is not an acceptable reaction. You're judging a show that hasn't aired yet and stating your opinion as a fact.
This show feels so lazy. I know I shouldn't say that just cause of the trailer, but it really does feel lazy. Cheap animation, ugly art, annoying voices, and the comedy didn't make me laugh once. Not even smile. The closest thing was Peter accidentally driving into the white family's driveway. That's it. I wonder if it will last longer then Cleaveland Show.
My Tumblr "If theirs one thing I'm good at, it's blowing" Jesse Cox 2013I'm not going to say the artstyle is 'ugly', because ugliness is in the eye of the beholder, and most cartoons nowadays are butt-ugly anyway, and what counts is the writing, that can't be truly judged yet, yadda yadda... but I will say it is repetitive compared to its predecessors.
I think the best thing for artists *and* entertainment enterprisers is to keep challenging themselves, and while writing-wise I'm not judging anything yet, visually this feels like more of the same. Mc Farlane and his crew would be better off doing something visually different for a change, but this is more like a visual repeat rut.
I just wish Seth Macfarlane would do a show that isn't about a Modern Family, especially when the modern family sitcom is getting overdone. If Seth Macfarlane still wants to do comedy, fine. But he should try a new setting, like Greece, or medieval times, or France. Matt Groening did a different premise with Futurama, and that worked out pretty well. Sure, it didn't last as long as the Simpsons, but it's just as funny.

Once again, this isn't Seth's creation. I knew that people would pin all of the blame on him and it's happening before the show has even premiered! Give the poor guy a break, some of you people act as if he killed your puppy or something.
