Works for me, though I have a question... How would it be treated? Like, what would the "cure", be? The effects of being forced to become an eldritch being? (aside from the obvious)

And it's so easy when you're evil... This is the life for me, the Devil tips his hat to me...No
Hell
No
Actualy goimg into the main part of the void is.something we shoild never do.
Its an eldrich plane, doing so is as stupid as going into the eye of terror.in W H40k
The.creatures are fine, but never ever send the party into a segment of the lerger void, not onlybis it likley suicide, it destroys the "you can not comprehend" feel.

Ok after running it by shiny and Immie here's how it works.
This is my idea for reversing the itherfoe transformation, feel free to suggest changes.
To access the void edges(without a physical portal) at least once is a requirement to being a mage in this setting, doing so splits the body and mind forcing the latter into a phylactery, almost always something the mage had on him at the time. This process is more like D&D liches (without the evil requirement obviously) than Madoka because if you can replace the phylactery within a week of it being destroyed the mage will survive, albeit significantly less powerful than they were before. At this point in Aerith, however no one knows how to do something similar for itherfoe, which is at least the dwarven word for void corrupted mages.
On this mission, regardless in whether the group achieves it's main objective they will find a book that explains how to make a replacement phylactery for an itherfoe. Itherfoe when defeated leave behind a comatose body that will die if not put on life support, and a corrupted phylactery. Unlike most replacement phylactery the ritual requires an object PRECISELY the same size, shape, and composition, as the original. A channeler (basically anyone that can heal or manipulate the world around them with magic as opposed to mages that directly use magic from the eldritch plane) can then find the mind of the mage in the original phylactery and extract it, channeling it into the replacement gem, restoring the original mage.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.Okay, I'm gonna have to ask this...
Doesn't all magic as a whole come from the Void? Because if it does, what's the difference between a channeler and the typical mage?
Sorry, I'm not sure if I'm missing something or not.

And it's so easy when you're evil... This is the life for me, the Devil tips his hat to me...Channeling is the approximate equivalent of transmutation in D&D, while direct mages use abilities more similar to evocation.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing....So, every single mage has to become a lich in order to perform magic?
And what GB said. AFIK, magic is connected to the void. Whatever you call it, you're calling upon the energies of the warp void to shape reality.

We Are Our Avatars Forever (Now on Discord by invitation, PM)Yeah forget that distinction, it made a lot more sense in my head but you've got to be extremely experienced to do that.
As for your other question, it's up to Immie if other ways to use magic exist.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.My understanding of this void was that it was like a Negative Space Wedgie, so splitting your soul to leap into it would be the equivalent of shoving your hand into a blender and hitting frappe.
We Are Our Avatars Forever (Now on Discord by invitation, PM)(@Rai) I'm just gonna wait for someone to confirm, then, but I thought the fringe of the Void was somewhat safe to travel through.
(@Rhyme) I might have an idea, then... Channelers can cause permanent alterations, while other mages simply cause temporary ones? The term "channeler" wouldn't be accurate, but that seems to be the direction you're going for...
And it's so easy when you're evil... This is the life for me, the Devil tips his hat to me...Oooooooookay...
...But another question.
Did we really agree there would be a druid...oh, I'm sorry, "channeler" exception clause to the whole "magic comes from DAH VOID" thing I was told about? Cause yeah, just trying to wrap my head around most of these concepts that I'm only hearing about now.

We Are Our Avatars Forever (Now on Discord by invitation, PM)Since going to the outer void mentally is very mind screwy the consciousness, leaves the body to avoid the full impact. It's like using the phylactery as a buffer against permanent mental damage.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.I think he means "does every mage have to have a soul jar." And they don't as far as I can understand.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.Yeah I can say that only projection mages can do the ritual to fix Itherfoe.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.

thanks man appreciate it
okay my last line on it
i will allow rhyme eldritch abomination idea as long as (a) its rare and you really need to abuse magic so as to prevent it from happening to players who do not want it to happen
(b)its possible to be treatable as we do not want loa to get too depressing so soon again....
does this sound okay?
" I did the right thing, didn't I? It all worked out in the end." "In the end? Nothing ends, Adrian. Nothing ever ends."
