In an empty alleyway in central Hub City, there was a bright flash of light, scaring off a stray cat. Two teenagers, a boy and a girl, appeared out of nowhere.

The girl, a beige-skinned 16-year-old with yellow-white dreadlocks and a white cloak that appeared to be glowing, floated a few inches off of the ground. "Did I do it? Are we in Hub City, Ty?"

Ty, a dark-skinned 17-year-old with a shaved head and a black hoodie, looked outside the alley. In the distance, he could make out a giant robot with the Hub City Police Department logo on their chests.

"We're here, Tandy. And here has giant robots."

Tandy's eyes widened. "Wow. Think Marshall had anything to do with those?"

"He was an energy specialist. Probably not. You just want an excuse to gawk at them."

"I do not," Tandy protested primly. "But they could present a threat, right? We should at least see what we could be up against. Supervillains love giant robots, after all."

Ty scowled. "Marshall's not a supervillain. He's just a scumbag with too much time on his hands and a poor understanding of informed consent."

Tandy shrugged and floated out of the alley towards the police station. "Semantics."

Ty sighed and followed her.

Hub City, Chinatown

It was a momentous time in Chinatown, though not a particularly celebratory one. In fact the atmosphere now was much more tense, much more fearful. The sort of time that made what goodhearted citizens there were hide in their homes and beds. Because the gangs of Chinatown had gathered together under one at one table. With Silvermane's attack on the police department and the subsequent reveal of the new Sentinel police program in addition to the continually escalating mob wars, an emergency meeting had been called in accordance with the oldest traditions of the Chinese criminal element.

Though they were normally the bitterest of enemies every major leader of the Hub City branches of Chinese organized crime had gathered now: The Lucky Hand Triad, the Golden Tiger Tong, the White Dragon Lords and more. Even local agents of the Si-Fan and the Ten Rings were present to advise and feel out the situation. Already a hushed discussion was underway as the leaders discussed what to do, bodyguards standing by with hands hovering over weapons and eyes glancing warily around.

<<"Why must we do anything? Those outside our borders care nothing for us. The police, the freaks, the monsters, let them fight among themselves while we Chinese grow fat and happy as we always do!">>

<<"These freaks and monsters you dismiss will not leave us alone forever and the police are showing capabilities they never have before now! We ought to band together to defend our interests! Chinatown has always been ours and it must remain so, but we cannot keep it if we remain idle!">>

At this a fierce round of arguing burst out between the various heads, though the foreign agents remained largely silent. The twang and cacophony of Cantonese yelling and cursing filled the room until no one voice could be heard through all of the anger and disagreement. Suddenly though the sound of laughter cut through the noise, harsh but enthusiastic and amused and so out of place given the attitude in the room that it caused everyone to fall silent and search for its' source.

Nobody was sure where the man had come from or how he had gotten past the guards outside, but suddenly he was standing atop the table and every weapon in the room was trained on him. If anything, that only made him more amused.

Then the killing began.

When it was over, the room had been shredded by bullets, painted red with blood and filled by a sudden abundance of corpses and shell casings...and every last one of Chinatown's top gangsters lay dead.

A new era had begun in Hub City, one where the tongs, triads and gangs of the Chinese would be united under one name, under one man. One man who had crushed all opposition with his bare hands.

He was Davos, the Steel Serpent.

After tonight the world would learn to fear his name.

Robot fiiiiight!

Silvermane, now with metal skeleton exposed under chunks of torn flesh, stared up at the Sentinel-esque Robots and looked... defeated. He lowered his head and slowly brought up his hands, looking the picture of compliance.

....

Then he jerked his head up and smirked at the robots, giving them all the bird and jumping into the chest of the one that had landed first in an attempt to smash it right back down onto the building.

Warning, balance impeded! The Robot said as Silvermane leaped into it, driving the robot back into the building behind it with a crash, but otherwise appearing to do little damage.

Lethal force authorized! Another said as a chaingun came out of its arm and it started firing at over 1000 rounds a second.

The third, meanwhile, held its arm out to block Tandy and Ty. Warning, this area has been designated as an active crime scene. Civilians are advised to stand clear until the area is secure.

Karmia quickly followed behind Hisako, leaping out the window as she looked at the cyborg that was the attacker.

"There he is!" She yelled as she held up her arm, firing a lightning bolt at him.

Hub City Debate

For the upcoming mayoral debate, the city had made "Arrangements" (That is, many bribes had been dropped due to no one else wanting to hold the debate for fear of attacks from local gangs) with Hub City University to use one of their large halls to hold the televised debate. Work was already underway as cameras were set up and the seal of the city was plastered behind the stage to look good and official for cameras. Students and faculty were slowly forming up in front of the hall to view the debate between the scarred former DA and the relative unknown who had stepped forward to challenge him, completely unaware of the third party planning on dropping in. .

Meanwhile, Regarding The Serpent Crown

Those criminals within Hub City who were keeping an ear to the ground would soon hear rumors. Whispers and suppositions about a new, priceless artifact that had entered the city limits last night on a secured charter flight from Asia that was guarded by at least 50 armed men. the rumors said this item, some form of headgear, had magical powers. No one agreed on what, exactly, it could do, but consensus was clear that it was powerful enough to shift the tenuous balance of power in the crime war of Hub City.

Those who looked further into the rumors would find that all signs pointed to a warehouse on the docks of Hub City. This place had been heavily fortified. Guards all around the building stood very conspicuously, the proper bribes having been paid so that local cops ignored them, decked out in the latest of modern weapons and body armor. it was clear that no expense had been spared securing this area from whatever may come. Caution would be warranted for any who came here. Yet, too much caution, and another may secure the prize before them. It would be a heist to test the skills of even the best criminals and gangs of Hub City, with the prize of power and glory awaiting the best among them.

Ty held out his hands, and inky blackness appeared, forming two daggers. He could see where the cackling cyborg was, but the giant robot was blocking his shot. No matter; Darkforce energy didn't affect those without souls, and his dagger would pass through the robot as if it wasn't there.

"Tandy, when I hit the guy, be there to catch him. We'll see if he knows anything about Marshall."

Tandy nodded and made her way towards the cyborg, phasing through the robot as Ty let his daggers fly.

Ty was well aware that he and Tandy weren't strong enough to subdue a cyborg who could tear through metal like it was cardboard, but hopefully the one-two punch of his daggers and Tandy's teleporting would be enough to disorient the cyborg long enough for questioning.

Ty had only a vague sense of how his daggers affected people- they freaked people out, made them dazed and confused. They didn't leave his enemies shivering in fear like his cloak had, but it was still Darkforce energy, and people exposed to it tended to go down easy. The cyborg probably wouldn't be as affected as a baseline human would be, but it would have to be enough.

Anarky did not wait to reach his home to put his plans in operation. Pulling out his special telephone, he dialed a secret number.

"Spymaster. This is Anarky" he began. "Anything new to report on Karate Kid and his associates?"

"No" a familiar voice answered.

"Forget them for the moment. I have a new mission for you."

"Very well, but I expect to be paid for the work I have already done first."

"Consider it done" he responded, and fulfilled the payment with a simple button press. "Now, I want you to access all of your contacts in the city. I have been informed that there's an item called the Serpent Crown currently here, probably on Hydra's hands. Locate it and tell me all you can about it. Then you'll be paid and receive your next set of instructions."

"Understood."

Hisako was riding the high of the miraculous drug, forming a coat of jagged crystal through the exposed parts of her body over the rest of her to avoid having to repair more uniforms. -"hit him more, I'll cover you and keep him busy!"- She said to her partner, then forming studded clubs around her arms and charging at the cyborg with interest of crushing and bashing him up,

Police Station Exterior

"Grah!" Silvermane growled as the machine gun fire slammed into him and sent him flying off of the first police-bot. Then he was hit by a lightning bolt, which was less than fun. The only good thing at that moment was the fact that the lightning bolt pushed him out of the path of the dark daggers. Some of Silvermane's forces came charging out of their cars to try and fight of the two super-charged cops, since they couldn't shoot at the robots. Silvermane grunted as he ripped a manhole cover out of the ground and threw it at the second police-bot's machine gun.

Silvermane's HQ

"Carl," Monica said urgently as she sat up in bed and watched the news. She shook her brother when he made no move to get out of bed. "Carl! Get up, you fucking idiot!" Carl groaned and finally sat up, rubbing sleep out of his eyes. They were both in their underwear.

"Whuzzhappeni-" he muttered in a sleepy daze before he saw what was going on at the Police Precinct and his eyes snapped wide open. "Is... is that grandpa?! He's a cyborg?!" Monica slapped him in the back of the had.

"Screw that! Put your goddamn pants on and go help him!" Carl hesitated for a moment.

"Then he'll find out I'm a mutant." This time, Monica hit him with a bedside lamp.

"HE'S A ROBOT! Go! Move! Move your fucking ass!" Carl hopped out of bed and picked up his pants off the floor, pulling them on as he ran out the window and started sprinting across rooftops.

"Shit," Tandy said as the cyborg landed on the ground, dodging Ty's daggers. Still, while he was distracted by the cops...

Tandy's cloak expanded as the cyborg threw the manhole cover. It appeared to swallow the cyborg whole before disappearing in on itself.

With a burst of light, Tandy and the cyborg reappeared in an alley just out of the robots' reach.

"I'm Cloak. My brother, Dagger, will be with us shortly. Are you well?"

The Debate

Poison Ivy scowled as she looked down at her phone, "Would you believe it?" She said out loud to Harvey. "Right before your big live debut, Manfredi decides to have a party with the police and... giant robots. God, what is this city coming to?" She rolled her eyes, grumbling. "Sometimes I start to miss the Bat."

"Excuse me?" There was a knock upon Two-Face's dressing-room door, and standing on the other side was Slade, doing his best to look as meekly as possible (despite the eyepatch and the fact he looked, walked and talked like a seasoned army veteran). "Harvey Dent? May I speak to you?"

Two Face's Dressing Room

Ya, welcome to my fucking life, Ivy. Now...

Before he could go on, the door suddenly opened, and Dent turned to it, biting back his dark side's yelling about "Moron college kids we employ who can't follow fucking directions for him not to be disturbed"

"Yes, I am available." He glanced down at his watch, "However, we will need to speak quickly, I am due on stage in 5 minutes. What can I do for you, Mr...?"

Police Station

When the cyborg vanished, the robots took a second to scan the area.

Warning, target lost!

Entering seeking pattern.

With that, the three robots activated their jet boots and started fanning out, each one taking a third of the area around the station and beginning recon of the area in an attempt to reestablish contact with Silvermane. Meanwhile, Karmia and Hisako had other things to worry about.

"Get down on the fucking ground! Now!"

That is, the massive amounts of scared out of their mind cops, all of who were now heavily armed and who were now pointing all of their considerable firepower at the duo from the safety of the station or other makeshift forms of cover those few survivors outside had taken.

Soon a limosine rolled up to the campus, its passenger preferring to go into the back of the building where the debate would be held. The first one out was an older woman wearing a sky blue business suit, large white hair, and the image of a beautiful, yet aged, high power executive. Flanking the woman were two assistants so identical one could be the gender swapped version of the other in the plainest beige possible. The woman and her assistants entered the building. If anyone asked, she would merely reply that she was Larisa Canips and she decided to go through the back for safety reasons. Considering the psychopathic cyborg going into a brawl with three giant robots right now, nobody would question it.

Steel Serpent, In Search of the Serpent Crown

Davos eyed the warehouse and its' small horde of guards with no small amount of interest. His new subordinates had offered up information on the artifact within in an attempt to appease him and perhaps divert his attention from his recent "aggressive downsizing tactics" in terms of the senior leadership. The sniveling cowards that had formerly been in charge had no intention of acting on the presence of the crown, but Steel Serpent was setting new precedents for them by show of force.

It hadn't been hard for him to track the object down. Even sealed up in the warehouse behind armed guards, its powerful magical energies resonated across his highly trained senses like a beacon on a pitch black night once he knew to look for them. Yes, the artifact was almost in Davos's grasp and once he had it, he would show this city just what sort of man the Steel Serpent truly was. With that in mind he called on every bit of his significant stealth training to sneak into the warehouse and locate the crown.

He quickly knocked a pair of HYDRA guards out with pressure point strikes from behind to create a gap in their patrols before they could notice him or cry out, then slipped into the shadows of the interior while reaching out for the crown's energies, careful to nevertheless shield his mind from any influences that might try to seize it as he did and proceeding silently but quickly through the darkened interior, prepared to fight both HYDRA guards and any other interlopers.

Hisako stopped mid-charge when the cyborg just disappeared. She looked around to see if it was merely a trick of some sort, but it wasn't. She was about to turn to Karima and suggest them to go look for him before the fearful and angry policemen. This didn't bode well for them, well, Hisako could take it but she really didn't want to hurt her coworkers. -"lets retreat"- She said to Karima and then ran the hell away with her partner in tow to look for Silvermane.

Hydra warehouse

It didn't take Spymaster's contacts long to find out about the presence of Hydra in a warehouse, so it was easy to guess the Serpent Crown must be there. The mercenary decided to make sure personally, thought.

He also was able to easily slip inside, only to find the two unconscious guards. Obviously, someone had already come in first. This was bad, but he could work it to his advantage: let the other intruder deal with any opposition, then take the crown for himself.

Thanks to his special suit, he moved completely silently, following the other intruder's trail, while preparing a gun with sleep poison darts.

"Wilson." Slade said with a warm smile. "Slade Wilson."

"Are you here to sell us something, Mr. Wilson?" Poison Ivy idly commented from the back of the room.

"Not exactly." Slade replied, still smiling. "I'm simply here to tell you that I will be participating in the debate as a third candidate, running against you." His smile didn't falter, even as Poison Ivy did a double take. "I thought that simply showing up would be too much of a low move. This will give you enough time to prepare and not look like a fool in front of the cameras."

Alleyway

Tandy was, admittedly, slightly freaked out by how the cyborg had casually ripped part of his face off, but at this point she was running on adrenaline and a desire for vengeance. She was a little numb inside.

"Wait!" Tandy said as she floated in front of him. "Dagger and I are looking for someone. His name is Simon Marshall, he's a scientist who's done experiments on Darkforce energy and...he's the reason we're the way we are," Tandy finished, looking away from the cyborg with a tear in her eye. "We know he's in Hub City, but we don't know where in Hub City." She met his gaze again, her expression as pitiful as she could make it.

Playing to other people's sympathies wasn't a tactic Tandy was fond of, but by experience she knew that most people were very open to manipulation by a young, adorable, suffering girl. For the most part, it appeared to be a parental thing, except for the few occasions when it was a sex thing and Tandy didn't want to dwell on that. Ever.

Police Station Exterior

Ty had ducked behind a building as he looked for his sister and the cyborg. He had a sinking feeling about that guy- he didn't seem like someone who could be reasoned with. Ty felt sick to his stomach- he didn't look like a monster anymore, but now he was allying himself with them, and wasn't that just as bad?

He caught sight of a slight glow from one alleyway and snuck towards it. If the cyborg tried anything, Ty would be there.

Debate

The Chechen sat with Anton in the front row of great auditorium, smiling for the cameras who just knew him as the new head honcho in charge of the First Bank of Hub City. At least the Russian mob had not decreased in its influence enough to not score some free seats to this debate. The Chechen was normally not one for debates but he wanted to be here to see how well Slade accepted the Russian mob's donations to his campaign. He wasn't expecting Wilson to publicly support the Chechen but if he started supporting Silvermane in his speech or condemning the Mob in his speech, he and Anton might have to have words with him.

HYDRA Warehouse

Inside the warehouse, the Steel Serpent and Spymaster would see what appeared to be a very large storge facility for all manner of illegal wares. Guns lined one part of the warehouse (All unloaded and locked down), ammo for said guns was in a different section, various forms of drugs in another part. There would be two things of note they might see. First, if Spymaster had been briefed on the Miraclo drug by Anarky, he might notice that a whole section of the warehouse had been set aside for its storage, more then enough to keep the whole city in supply for a long while. Second, a whole second half on the warehouse had been cut off by a giant steel wall. This wall, which was at least a foot thick, stood as a giant barrier, and was where a majority of the guards in the area that were not patrolling the warehouse stood guard. near the roof, a control booth manned by two guards controlled a giant steel gate that was clearly the only path forward into the second half of the warehouse.

Also, if they were particularly observant, they would note that every once in a while guards were called on their radios for a status report from whoever was managing them. Sooner or later, someone would notice the failure of the two knocked out guards to check in.

Police Station

"Er.....good idea, time to go!"

"I said freeze!"

The cops, jumpy as they were, all opened fire as the two attempted to flee, Karmia attempting to take cover behind the much more durable Hisako as they ran.

Two Face Dressing Room

In his hand, a glass Two Face had been holding shattered as he grasped it too hard. Luckily, it seemed he had avoided injuring himself badly. He grasped the table in front of him hard as he struggled to suppress his darker half's incoming stream of curses combined with an intense desire to suddenly strangle the man here and now. Wilson would see that the bit of the table he was grasping was beginning to crack a bit from the force he exerted.

"....I see. Thank you for the.....notification, Mr Wilson. It is....appreciated. And what platform are you planning on running on?" He asked, attempting to work the situation to his benefit and get whatever information he could even as he struggled against himself.

Alleyway

Silvermane would soon hear massive stomps on the ground that signaled that one of the police robots was currently on a street just across from the alleyway he was in. Then he would get a call.

"Boss!" he would hear Yelena yell. "Are you ok? I've gotten our men away from the station, we're not equipped to fight these....giant robots." She said, hesitating in a tone that signaled she was thinking something along the lines of "What the hell is wrong with this country?"

"Sir, I have a press conference from the police commissioner on the radio. From what he's saying, there could be a lot more then these three robots around already. The safehouse could be in danger! We have to get back! Where are you? I'll come pick you up!"

"For that, you'll have to listen to my answers in the upcoming debate." Slade replied, smiling contently to himself. So Dent still had a few problems he could very well exploit... it was hard to keep the grin off his face, but Slade needed to keep up this facade that he was just a normal candidate, not a weathered mercenary. "See you there, Mr. Dent." With a nod to both him and Poison Ivy, he turned around and made his way to the debate's main room.

Ivy just sighed and slowly plugged her ears.

Hydra Warehouse

Spymaster almost chuckled when he found the steel wall. Hydra couldn't have sent the message WE ARE HIDING SOMETHING IMPORTANT HERE! more clearly if they had written it on bright neon letters. The Crown was most likely kept there, along with who knows what else.

He also had noticed the Miraclo lab along the way. Of course he recognized it; after all secret knowledge was his business. He definitely had to inform Anarky of all this- for a price.

The problem was: how to get the crown? He hadn't expected so much security. Maybe he should stick to his original plan and let the other intruder figure out how to obtain it, then steal it from him. Assuming they had time... he also noticed the guards were asking for regular reports. Damn, maybe the snaky Nazis were not as incompetent as they seemed.

HYDRA Warehouse

Ah, so HYDRA has some cunning after all.

Steel Serpent should have expected that they would have their men check in in case some of them were neutralized. Still, it was no large matter. He would merely have to...speed things up. But first, a little distraction. He strode quickly but quietly over to the section of the warehouse that seemed to be used for storing ammunition for Outworlder firearms. Channeling and precisely controlling the fiery chi of the Serpent Sting, he lightly brushed his hand over a few of the crates packed with bullets and set them to smoldering, modulating the flow of chi into the flames such that it would start slow and not so hot and build into a rapid, blazing bonfire quickly enough. Let them see how well they maintained their awareness and discipline when a portion of their warehouse suddenly exploded with fires and hot shell casings.

Next to deal with their walled off section, seeing as they'd made things painfully obvious regarding where they had stored the Serpent Crown. The gate was the obvious point to attack, probably through the control tower on the roof, the glaring weakpoint in terms of controlling entry. Likely the first place guards would rush during an attack...

Steel Serpent was not one for the common man's approach. He walked up to the thick steel wall in between patrols of guards and focused a decent-sized portion of the stolen chi into his fist and through the mystic gauntlet. The combined chi of the men he'd killed at the meeting earlier flowed into his fist filling it with energy until it began to glow, to smolder, to burn.

Not quite like A Thing of Iron

But he supposed it would do.
