An interview
talks about a villain that was planned for the sequel, Shame, that was ultimately cut.

Think about all the good villain puns they could have done. "Shame if something were to happen to you...".
[Offers the hero and offer that they refuse] "That's a... shame"
Now shame sounds weird.

"Shame was also not a real emotion, according to Dr. Dacher Keltner, who helped out the “Inside Out 2” team. “It was like, What are we trying to say?” Deamer said. “Shame is a real thing in life but not everybody goes through that. But anxiety is in all of us. It’s just better. I think it’s a more important thing to talk about than some kind of message about don’t shame yourself. It was preachy. Anxiety, you need it. It’s not 100% bad.”
Originally, there were nine new emotions that would bombard Riley’s mind. “I didn’t miss Shame,” Deamer said. “But I did like the design of it.” (One he did miss was Guilt, who was always hiding behind stacks of baggage – get it?)"
I dunno, I could really do without my Anxiety.
The Protomen enhanced my life. The underlying theme is that each emotion serves a purpose and is needed to help Riley deal with her experiences. Any of them dominating the others or being pushed completely aside is toxic and unhealthy. Anxiety I can see as related to stress, a necessary motivator that can think a little bit further ahead than Fear and Disgust. In contrast I can understand them hitting a wall with Shame, as that's focused on past actions and not especially useful in small amounts. Then again, my theory is the new emotions are transient as she learns to confront new situations and not intended to join the core emotions permanently, in which Shame might work.
Comics are just words and pictures. You can do anything with words and pictures.I'm predicting that the new emotions get a different command center than the primary five and act as a consultant. They already show that the mother's command center is still her normal five with the new ones no where in sight, nor things that would indicate that there are more emotions actively working there, like larger table or extra chairs. And it's not like as adults we remove these emotions, they still pop in all the time. I'm still hoping that the new emotions just fuse with old ones, because a lot of these new emotions are essentially nuanced and more context specific versions of the old, that the primary five are general feelings, while new ones are meant to color that emotion based on situation.

I love how they draw Joy here.

You’re Gonna Carry That Weight. So there is apparently a tie-in between Inside Out 2 and an AI powered washer from Samsung that can read emotions…
I am not kidding. The ad:
This Bloomberg article says Inside Out could get a spinoff series based on the Dream Studio:
You’re Gonna Carry That Weight.Anyone wonder if the second movie may explore more of Anger, Fear, and Disgust's dynamics with Joy and Sadness, especially with Sadness given the first movie had those three barely interact with her at all (though Joy and Sadness are separted from them for 80% of the movie).
Like with all five of the main emotions being together this time, could this mean getting more on Sadness interacting with Anger, Fear, and Disgust?

To be honest I doubt they care that much.
