All Grown Up was actually a pretty decent animated Kid Com, any series that can make Dil the Ensemble Dark Horse has to be good.

My main issue with Rugrats and All Grown Up is simply I didn't find it memorable for the most part other than an select few episodes that were kind of creepy like the body episode in Rugrats and that weird heart ride episode in All Grown Up.

Butch Hartman’s new kids network is actually a religious propaganda network.

It is Tvtropes policy to always say what the video is about in the same post as the video link.

... if he calls his Youtube channel a "network", I would have at least some passive interest in this video.

A lot of people are just saying his comeback during the stream was really just pointing out that the guy used a Family Guy meme and people are overreacting about it.

To elaborate on the situation more: Butch's kickstarter has been dicey from the beginning. There was not much information or detailed plans about OAXIS, who would be joining Hartman, etc and at best it looked like Butch had a well-meaning but misguided idea for an over-ambitious project. But gradually he started using very manipulative language and tactics to get people to contribute money, didn't really address people's concerns and eventually people found some evidence from a talk he gave where he makes some deeply ignorant statements about mental health, the youth, etc and basically says he wants to influence the youth with christian values through a network.

In and of itself, the idea of making a christian network isn't necessarily bad, although given what I've heard of Hartman he almost certainly has the transphobia and homophobia associated with many fundamentalist groups today, so it kind of would be bad. But even beyond that the way Butch has gone about this has been deeply dishonest of his true intentions and very manipulative.

I've never held Butch in all that high a regard because I think his writing sensibilities are super dated, but this is a huge blow to his reputation.

I am going to be honest a lot of non-religious people just label any Christian based kids cartoons as being propaganda.

I don't donate to campaigns unless I know specifically what they'll be spent on. Since this is a service, I put it under a higher level of scrutiny. I don't want my money spent on half-baked ideas. Still, the fact Butch kept what exactly would be on his service so secretive gave me the impression that he had nothing or it was a half-baked idea. When this came out, I was shocked that this came out if it.

Don't get me wrong, media always conveys messages like "the road to hell is paved with good intentions" or "your success will bring you false friends" or "just give up". I just want to know what those messages are.

And still, preachy can sometimes be amusing. Take Dante's Paradiso for example. It was basically an extended rant by saints about how their work is soiled and a didactic rant from Dante, but it was most certainly written well and enjoyable in a Narm Charm way.

I think Butch Hartman should have his own thread, especially since he doesn't work for Nickelodeon anymore

For the Hartman thing, I am thinking there is some exaggeration going on. I think this has some telephone aspects going on here.

It would become a hotbed of drama, wait until you have people in industry come out against him, then there's the bombshells people probably have about him

At the end we'll be like "How did we ever like that guy?"

Oh [up]

I do have some personal complaints when it comes to his shows and how they can rely too much on cliches. But I do think some things about this controversy really seem to be overblown.

Although I don't really have much attachment to Zim, I gotta say, that's looking really nice so far.

So the Danny Phantom thread is blowing up with drama. What did I miss?

Oh hey, literally anything else [up] (2) I like Zim! You like Zim! Let's all talk about that! It's one of many awesome things from the 90's have been brought back recently!

I wasn't too-too attached to it but it's part of that Cof "cartoons I wish I'd paid more attention to when I was younger" right there with Ren and Stimpy, and Aaah Real Monsters.

So Enter the Florpus is a 90-minute special. I wonder if this will be an entirely new thing or if it's stitching together some of the unfinished episodes.

Unfortunately I had no idea about this and so didn’t report it when it actually happened, but Eugene Pitt, lead singer for the Jive 5, who created the doo-wop sound that defined classic Nick, died a month ago at 80.
