Glad to see you're not wearing Nostalgia goggles, at least. Then again, I just don't know why anyone would obsess over something like Doug. I may have liked As Told By Ginger more, myself, but TBH - only like 2 or 3 of Nick's old cartoons (without saying those examples...) are ever worth remembering in this day and age, and Ginger really ain't one of them, either.
I forgot As Told By Ginger even existed. That's how little I really cared about the show.
I do think that Nick had some classic shows(Like Rocko, Rugrats, and Angry Beavers) and that Spongebob in it's hey day was a fantastic show that can still make me laugh hard when I see it, but I won't say that the channel was perfect back then. At least, I won't any more since I was one of those "90's were much better" kids at a time. I've grown out of that phase around when 90's are All That came out and I saw that some of the shows of the 90's weren't all that great. Namely the live action shows.

It pretty much goes along with whatever group of twenty-to-thirty-somethings is in charge now.
Back in the 2000s those guys grew up on a Nickelodeon that was filled with foreign animation, stuff from Japan, Europe, even the Soviet Union, which all pretty much wasted away once Nickelodeon started making their own original productions. (Of course, they had to; they couldn't just keep leasing programs forever. Even Cartoon Network was full of owned programming back in the day.)
Now we have people who grew up in the 90s, when the Nicktoons were king... and then, who knows?
"They say I'm old fashioned, and live in the past, but sometimes I think progress progresses too fast."I don't really think theirs gonna be people who are gonna look fondly back on the Nick in its current state. It will probably be looked back on the same way people look back on the era when Fried Dynamite and CN Real were a thing on Cartoon Network.
My Tumblr "If theirs one thing I'm good at, it's blowing" Jesse Cox 2013I think people will still admit that the Thursday night lineup was worth watching. Chowder and Flapjack helped ease us through those troubled times; Johnny Test was still airing reruns and was decent...
And CN Real bombed so badly there was barely any trace of it left after a couple of months.
"They say I'm old fashioned, and live in the past, but sometimes I think progress progresses too fast."I enjoyed Flapjack and Chowder, but not to the point where it made that era any better. That was back when TDI was actually still entertaining though.
However, even after CN Real bombed Dude what would happen and Destroy, build, destroy still lived on for awhile afterwards. And their were still live action shows like Level Up and (if you can count it as live action) Annoying Orange's show.
Plus those guys from Fried Dynamite stuck around for awhile afterwards for the bumpers.

My Tumblr "If theirs one thing I'm good at, it's blowing" Jesse Cox 2013This is where my nostalgia goggles are on fully... It probably doesn't measure up to the original...
The original had a terrific comic section, with such alternative comic geniuses as Kim Deitch, James Kochalka, Bobby London and Sam Henderson contributing work. It's a surprise to see that the guy who did "Scene But Not Heard" did work for WFMU's magazine.
I've been trying to find issues from the 90s; I have copies going back to '04 and I have a friend who can boast issues as far back as '01. (At least I got a copy of the rare Cartoon Network magazine...)
"They say I'm old fashioned, and live in the past, but sometimes I think progress progresses too fast."The new first issue has nothing but comics based on Nick's newer shows, which I haven't seen thus have no frame of reference for. Artwork seemed fine. There was a note on the inside front cover that the new magazine will be mostly comics but not entirely comics, so I'm not sure what to expect. It makes sense that this one is all comics, though, since the original iteration of the magazine would typically release an issue or two with just comics each summer. I wouldn't say it's a great way to relaunch the publication, though. We'll see where it goes.
I need to find where I put my back issues. I was subscribed to it for years, though I can't recall exactly for how long.

Insert witty 'n clever quip here.So I don't have my nostalgia goggles on after all.
I don't think it's ever going to equal the original, really. They had some talented guys in their comic section...
Though what I want to see is a reprint of the old Marvel Ren and Stimpy and Rocko comics. IDW recently released some of the old CN comics from DC in paperback form - even old Gold Key Rocky and Bullwinkle stuff from the 50s. Why can't we get the Marvel/Nick stuff?
"They say I'm old fashioned, and live in the past, but sometimes I think progress progresses too fast."I do, since Ren And Stimpy was never nearly as good as people claim.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here. The Ren And Stimpy comic book, however, was probably one of Marvel's better-written titles at the time. Given that it was the Dark Age of Comic Books, that kind of says something, doesn't it?

I sorta agree(I really enjoy Harvey Beaks and the TMNT 2012 cartoon). I'm not sure if Spongebob and Fairly odd parents getting the boot would help them or not, though. Maybe getting rid of FOP. Cause not many people really care about that show anymore. Even Nick doesn't seem to care since the show itself isn't on that much any more and rarely ever has new episodes aired. Granted, Spongebob barely airs new episodes either(last one I remember was Yeti Krab or something which was a while ago).
