This.
Until is actually has a negative impact somewhere, I'm not sure I care. Representation is representation. And the better it is here, the more it would probably piss her off which is a win on all fronts in my mind. Let's be real, the representation we DO get is only because someone thinks they can make money off of it; it's not artists who get to greenlight the projects that go forward. So we're already at the point of doing the right thing for wrong reasons anyway and have been for awhile now.
Though, as far as her reaction and meltdown... Considering how much she's doubled down on EVERYTHING ELSE thus far, she'd probably clean her tears with 100 Pound note and write a new check to some foundation, unfortunately.
Now, what COULD be interesting is if she ever got to the point where she pulled the plug on Potter media. Should she ever, say, cancel contracts on WB instead, she'd basically blacklist herself. While she does maintain creative control on the Potter projects, people will not look kindly on losing a lot in investments because of her.
However, I doubt she'd do anything so extreme over that. Be angry and salty; sure. But I don't think she'd care enough about a video game that she doesn't really have personal hands in. If anything I think she'd de-canonize it which would probably just result in even more people flocking to it.

Most likely. Other WB releases have been there.
There are options. Found a whole Twitter thread about them if someone wants a link. Kinda dismantles the "think of the dev team!" argument. And brings up that there COULD be a royalty contract where Jo-demort does get further cuts from sales post-release. I've never really heard of those in gaming before (success bonuses, yes. royalties, no), but something to look into.
Basically, waiting for a used copy means Jo doesn't make any money on the sale. However, as I mentioned above, used copies of anything are exceedingly rare these days as everything transfers to digital. Splitting the game between you and several friends also means lower sales, but still a sale. You can also wait until things like massive sales later which does probably mean less money for Jo. Or Humble Bundles which donate money and probably also would mean purchasing without giving money to Jo. And twitch streamers who have vowed to donate money to charities are a long better lines, it's also still giving money to a billionaire with all her donation funds and government ties in that little world of hers while any charity donated to is already in an uphill battle.
Basically, there's no truly ethical way to not support Jo-demort and get the game. She's already got tons of money. But, as the twitter thread explained and I will echo, the goal is to convince execs that she is a toxic asset and that her presence drives away more money than it brings in. She's already beyond two flopped films (1st did ok. 2nd didn't make back it's budget) so we're on the curve of that moment, but it hasn't quite happened yet.
This is my cynicism at play, but I'm not convinced that these projects flopping would get blamed on her. Hollywood for instance somehow always manages to take the wrong lessons from failures; see them blaming the failure of the Catwoman film on it having a POC Woman as the lead and using that as the justification to reject all female led comic book movies for 15 years. Given the past success of the brand and top level's executives to somehow always take the wrong lessons away from anything.
Plus not to nitpick but while neither film did amazing at the box office and fell short of expectations both did turn a profit. 2 whilst performing the worst out of any film in the franchise made almost a billion in profit.
Hell, sometimes Hollywood takes the wrong lessons from successes:
"Wow, that Batman movie made by that Tim Burton guy proved really popular! You know what that means?
"That people want more movies based on popular comic book characters?"
"No, that's stupid. Batman was originally inspired by pulp heroes, so clearly what the audience wants are more movies based on characters from the 1930s that they've barely even heard of!"
Fantastic beasts 2 failed because it was a bad movie.
J.K wasn't as vocal about discrimination on transgender people as she was back then, despite there being hints.
So at least now is a good time to get off a boat that is also sinking in quality.
J.K's future projects WILL be viewed in much harsher lenses because of Twitter rants now though.

"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"If, for some reason, the game bombs and it's attributed to Joanne's personal views, even if she's not directly financially affected (ie she already got paid), it can help create an impression that she's no longer commercially viable. "Game do bad" isn't the end goal, but a theoretical stepping stone. Beasts 2 has shown that not everything she touches turns to gold, and if companies begin finding her more a liability than an asset, that's a good thing.
Trans options would be great... but a part of me just thinks it would be hilarious if at the start up screen it asks "Does your birth certificate say male or female?" and you're locked into that for the game.
I don't think anything's been thumpable. We've been directly talking about how Joanne's policies affect the game, both in terms of sales and our reactions to it. If we spun off onto a tangent solely about transgender rights, or just plain her views on it, that would be another story.

Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.Man, we are talking about rendering J.K Rowling into a financial liability... I think we are going down a dark road, even if it's J.K. who has publicly expressed contemptable views.
Moving on, before any mods think of thumping us, is there anything that looks fun in this game? I'd like to try any potion classes.

"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"So my media-consuming brain hears that and connects it to Black Butler, Sherlock Holmes and Jack the Ripper. Also lot's of fog.

I would actually kill for the game to have trans options just to spite her. It's also not like trans options are also that hard for video games anyway. Everything is already in pieces in the game code anyway. Just select the pronouns and voice set and you're pretty much good to go.
Not like the story has to be *about* it either. Just let people pick what they want and they got the representation and, better yet, they don't feel singled out for picking the option.
