A general discussion thread for all things DC Comics. Topics may be split off into their own threads if necessary. That said, since there's already a thread
for the D Cn U (aka Nu52), this one would probably stick to pre-Nu52 comics to avoid redundancy.
I've always wondered if there's a justification for Wonder Woman's outfit being designed after a modern-day one-piece swimsuit/leotard instead of something that would fit her Greco-Roman mythological background (e.g. Amazons were more often than not depicted as wearing trousers
◊note ). A few attempted redesigns had her adopt Lady Legionnaire Wear for a skirt, but they never stuck. And then of course, there's her pants-wearing design during J. Michael Straczynski's run (courtesy of artist Jim Lee).

So if anything, Ross ripped Eiling off.
Hell, even their animated incarnations had Eiling beating Ross to the punch.
One Strip! One Strip!Random questions.
What's Vixen doing right now?
Has her power-set changed in any way?
Can she use the abilities of more than one animal at once?
I know there was a brief time where her powers got buffed to allow her to copy meta human powers, and the skills of any person since humans kinda count as animals, but that got taken away after a while.
I haven't heard much about her in years, so I got curious.
One Strip! One Strip!Waller's thing is, basically, she's meant to be Lawful Neutral.
She represents the United States government and is My Country, Right or Wrong.
But she should never be incompetent or evil (except, well, she's enslaved people with explosives and uses them as suicide troopers).
But I think part of the nuance is lost because the Suicide Squad and its name. The name loses a lot of its irony when you remove the fact that the original holders chose it for themselves as the people who took the missions needed to defeat the Nazis at all costs.
Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters.Granted, Eiling himself was created as a more malicious version of Ross, so it's more of a full circle moment.
She'll be in the DC Power anthology series which will have four different stories
. Her story will be a team up with Bolt to deal with anti-metahuman sentiment in a hospital.
Not as far as I can tell.
But she should never be incompetent or evil (except, well, she's enslaved people with explosives and uses them as suicide troopers).
Originally, the explosives were only used on the more unruly squaddies and they 'only' blew your arm up.
Please remember that, ultimately, fictional works of entertainment are just that. It's kind of hard to have Waller not be evil even at her best. Threatening to blow any part of someone up, if they don't do what you want is always going to be evil. It's also hard to argue Waller is working for the great good when most of the time she's working for a small subset of humanity without any oversight or restraint.
I think Justice League Unlimited handled it best by both turning down most of her evil and by have her realize that she was the bad guy to a degree and change course.
The way Marvel did it, when Heroes For Hire had caught on to the fact the Thunderbolts were all super villains, but that they had legitimately reformed with the exceptions of Zemo and Moonstone, was to recruit more incarcerated criminals into the "Thunderbolts" with the wrongly convicted Luke Cage's oversight. The reward for competent, complicity service was to reduce their sentences, circumstances depending. There was no "Do what I say or get blown up." Prove to be a problem and you get thrown back in prison.
That's actually the impression I got from Amanda Waller, in Wonder Woman volume five. Wonder Woman had to go through Waller when seeking high profile volunteers for community service projects. The same reward was there, at least. We're letting you out for awhile. Do what you're told, don't make a mess, and we reduce your jail time. In volume six, however, it was clear Amanda, and Sarge were now evil stooges at best, and despite all ways around it, it wasn't this new Sovereign guy's lasso of lies affecting them, it's wasn't that mysterious glowing gold eye thing, it wasn't Doctor Psycho, these two were stubbornly rotten all on their own. From this thread I already knew Waller had been a despotic villain for quite some time, but there wasn't even acknowledgement that she used to have a decent, professional relationship with the protagonist(though volume six barely acknowledges any of volume five or Infinite Frontier).
Buldogue's lawyerSebastian Gray? I don't know if it helps, but in the UK, there was a period of time where the modernist movement was associated with motor scooter gangs, while rock music was associated with motorcycle gangs. The two would fight each other(never mind the fact scooter gangs also fought other scooter gangs, bikers other bikers) so mods versus rockers kind of became a thing in pop culture, even though one was a clothing style and the other was a music style.
I don't know if that makes the joke more sensible to you, but that's the impression I got.
Buldogue's lawyer
I probably didn't make myself clear (I have a habit of doing that). I understood that the joke was about the mods and rockers
, it's just such an old and obscure reference that I wondered if anyone else did. Also Mod's look here seems to be based on Jimmy Savile which is... odd.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Huh this weird.
So the current Creature Commandos comic (no relation to Frankenstein Agents of Shade or the cartoon version) features Brainiac as the main villain. Was someone here really into Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League or did they think they could do better than the game?
Like you could have went with any villain especially since the comic constructs an entirely new incarnation of the team but you just had to shoot for the heavyweight. You don't need your military squad type to be fighting the big alien conquerors, that's way out of their paygrade.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Maybe that's the point.
Put them up against an absolutely huge threat that seems way out of their league to create some dire straights as you now wonder how they'll pull off the victory.
Now, whether the comic can execute that well is another story, but we'll just have to wait and see.
One Strip! One Strip! But you could also just do any other kind of threat thats also more believable instead of going for the biggest dog possible.
Its the whole Darkseid issue. Its boring to just jump straight to Darkseid when you could try other kinds of villains and threats with more appropriate scale.
Like from little I've read the wolf person (the black woman on the cover) appears to be a civilian (werewolf state aside) not a trained soldier of any kind. This is way beyond her experience level.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."

The tech to get your brain into another body is out there in certain circles on the DCU, so there is always the chance that some fool wants superpowers tries that.
Wake me up at your own risk.
